Sprinkles cupcakes recently announced their closure, which was sad, but I've always liked Crave more. Walking in, the staff is always friendly, and you immediately smell freshly baked cupcakes. The ambiance is clean, but casual with a few seats to enjoy an afternoon treat, although a majority of people take the cupcakes to go. Flavor wise, you really can't go wrong with any of them. I'm a sucker for chocolate so that's usually my go to, but I personally like bringing the box of minis to parties because it comes with flavors for everyone. 10/10 would recommend! If I waa being honest, I do prefer a nice slice of cake over a cupcake. However, in the end, they are both cake so each one is delicious. During my Staycation I saw a Crave Cupcakes and made up my mind I was going to get one. I waited until after church to get a coconut cupcake, which is delightful The strawberry one was a scrumptious choice. Glad I got these two. Now, they have hot drinks and I guess chilled as well but I for sure got the hot chocolate! It was a smooth cocoa that had that nostalgic flavor of marshmallow as well. I love stopping by Crave when I'm craving (haha) something sweet. And Crave doesn't disappoint. The store, while being extremely cute and bright, just lifts your spirits when you enter. The staff at the counter are also so friendly and helpful, explaining the different flavors and new additions. And there is a plethora of options to try! My personal favorites are the classics: chocolate and strawberry. The cake is rich and hydrated, while the frosting manages to strike the perfect balance of sweetness without going overboard. I went to CRAVE Cupcakes for a quick bite after the gym last month. Everyone was so friendly and explaining which was popular and which ones got alcohol. I skipped all that and went straight to Protein Bar because it's vegan, sugar and gluten free. It was small but mighty with all the powerful ingredients: Walnuts, Steel Cut Oats, Almonds, Carob Chips, Soy Protein Powder, Agave, Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon. I really wanted to try the Carajillo cupcake, but I am kind of afraid I will get a ticket for intoxication. This CRAVE Cupcakes in West University gave me some good vibes. I felt like bringing a book and chill for an hour after work. The aroma filled the restaurant and I want to get one tasty cupcake and a cup of tea. Parking is a little tricky in the front, especially during rush hours. People coming and leaving to other businesses at the same strip mall. The Mrs scored the sweetest cup cake deal ever with the Too Good To Go app. For $5.99, the Mrs. received two red velvet and two chocolate cupcakes in in nice paper box. Popped in here last week before a show at Jones Hall. The parking lot is a little bit chaotic, with a lot of spots marked off for different businesses. The roads around are also tore up so proceed with caution! Despite those things (out of CRAVE's control) I will be back! I really liked how they had vegan options. I actually ate two. I got the vegan chocolate & red velvet. They were really yummy. I also got a cold brew coffee. It tasted great. No creamer necessary. The staff was friendly and actively cleaning the space. There is not a whole lot of seating, but a few places. You can also get do treats, protein bars and cookies. They do not take cash payments and it didn't look like there was a customer restroom so plan accordingly! read more

I picked up some cupcakes from Crave as a thank you treat for some staff at work and had a great experience! I decided to go with the mini options so people could sample multiple flavors easily if they wanted, and everyone reported all the flavors (strawberry, red velvet, dark chocolate, vanilla) were delicious! I liked how they labeled the flavors with little stickers in the box. The store is pretty small, with nowhere to sit and enjoy your treats. Also, they tend to run out of flavors later in the day. I RSVP for the Crave Elite event at the Kirby drive location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was giving the option to choose any flavored cupcake, cake pop and coffee of my choice. I choose the strawberry cupcake, the birthday cupcake and a hot latte. Everything was sweet and delicious. I also added in a lemon cupcake, which was to die for!! It was an overall wonderful experience outstanding customer service, very clean and well organized. I tried out the classic Vanilla cupcake. This cupcake had a unique frosting not too sweet a perfect texture and not too much on the cupcake itself. it was $4.50 which is a very fair price considering how large 1 cupcake is. This review focuses on the vegan and Gluten Free options available at Crave, which are plentiful and very well priced. I actually drove out of my way to get the vegan red velvet cupcake. I remembered it having a different taste than what I received today. Additionally, since I am really trying to minimize my gluten and choose vegan options as much as possible, I decided to pick up the vegan and Gluten Free chocolate chip cookie. I have to tell ya- I miss Gluten and chocolate eating this cookie. It just wasn't enough of a replacement for me to be determined that I could go without the real thing without complaints. It just was more cake than cookie consistency for me. I missed the crunch of the cookie with bits of melted chocolate between. bites. But thats just personal preference. The dessert was edible and filling. I'm carb sensitive but this cookie didn't leave me wanting my pillow after eating it, which is a good thing. It just was really sweet for my taste. Like drink a whole bottle of water sweet. That alone is the only real reason I wouldn't suggest this dessert. The vegan red velvet was a little dry. I needed water to devour it. I had to take breaks eating it in fact. It too was not my cup of tea, but for those whose only option is vegan desserts, it's a great replica of the real thing. Again however the frosting is way too thick and sweet for my taste. I believe my experiment with vegan desserts was not a complete fail, but I think I rather eat non vegan cupcakes and cookies in extreme moderation and soothe my sweet tooth whenever possible. read more

Beautiful clear display of cupcakes. Clean and neat interior. It is an inviting vibe. They have large selection of different flavors for everyone. I had the confetti, salted caramel, and vanilla cupcakes. The bases of the 3 cupcakes are the same. The icing on top of the cupcakes were a little too sweet for me. However, I prefer the salted caramel one because of the contrast of sweet and salt, also there was a small amount of caramel injected in the middle of the cupcake base. I will go back to try other flavors like the dark chocolate to see if there will be surprise inside. read more

Cupcakes are still good! I got the old fashioned birthday cake, which was fun to try, but I personally wouldn't get it again. A plus was that the cupcake wasn't as dry as last time, but the yellow cake flavor wasn't really giving YELLOW CAKE. Idk how to explain it lol, but it just tasted like a very very basic vanilla cupcake. Also, the milk chocolate frosting was underwhelming. I see the vision, but the execution wasn't the best. Both the cake and frosting need a stronger flavor profile. The sprinkles were great ofc. Service is always just okay or superb. Today, it was just okay. Not sure if the worker couldn't hear me, but I had asked her for the cupcake with the blue fondant topping like multiple times, and she just proceeded to grab the other one, which is not a problem, but it was a bit embarrassing cuz I was like hellloooooooo??? The filling was soft but not too sweet! This West U location delivers a consistent flavorful product and usually keeps a good supply of the favorites on stock. The special occasion cupcakes are usually well-decorated. I had vanilla icing chocolate cake, strawberry, and plain vanilla. Icing is a little sweet and grainy, but the cake was moist. Staff are professional and friendly and don't do that annoying thing with their tablet where they hover over it in expectation of a tip. I tried their coffee for the first time as a part of Yelp Elite week, and I was surprised to find it was quite delicious and brewed fresh. I had just come from a coffee shop donwtown and theirs compared favorably despite being a cupcake bakery. There is limited seating, but this strip of shops is mostly in and out, with parking changing over frequently. read more

I came on Saturday morning right at opening to avoid crowds/people. I got an espresso martini cupcake and carrot cake cupcake. The worker there was very nice and explained each item thoroughly (I asked about the cupcakes and coffee). He told me all the ingredients in the cupcake and how the coffee tasted (two options, one with cinnamon notes, and one that was just plain). The espresso martini and carajillo cupcakes were both limited editions and a collab with Maven, which were not advertised at Crave at all. No signage or anything and you wouldn't know about it unless you follow Maven and/or Lance McCullers (which I do both). The espresso martini cupcake was perfect. Chocolatey, espressoey, and decadent. The carrot cake (the worker's favorite, and one of my preferred cakes) was not bad, but not the best I've had, the frosting was too sweet. This is my favorite cupcake shop in houston! Everytime I have come in, the service is great and everyone is friendly. They have so many options to choose from, but it is limited later in the day. The strawberry one is my favorite. It has strawberry pieces in the cake part, and the icing is so light and fluffy with just the right amount on top. One of the best places to get cup cakes. It's a good treat to bring to a party or office. It's recommended to come early so you get first dibs on the variety of flavors. They usually run out of their best flavors toward the end of the day. The staff here are very friendly and sweet. If you can't decide what flavors to get then just ask the staff. They always know best. The plaza is a bit small with a limited parking but you will be in and out. The service is pretty quick.
