In the midst of the "lunch rush" there he was, off to the side next to a coffee stand, with many Bundts on display. I had been craving something sweet but didnt have many options down there. I went over and he won me over immediately with the Strawberry bundt and the Lemon bundt, but I ended up buying the Strawberry and Red Velvet. They were AMAZING! Super rich and moist. The icing was very complimentary along with the crumbles he added on top. Sometimes the richness combined with topping and icing can be overwhelming with a nice treat like this but he KNOWS his stuff! Very sweet man (the owner), I wish I got his name. This place made me love bundt cakes!!! I had an idea to form the number forty for my husband's bday and The Baker Man was excited to try it out. That says a lot about his passion and story for the love of baking! We played with the measurements to get the right look. He was professional and cost effective. Ok now to the delicious part!! Hella nice dude. I asked what he would prefer. He told me the carrot cake and the red velvet. I got them for $10. Took them home. I opened the red velvet first. Instantly, I was overwhelmed by the sweet aroma... and slide my fork into the red velvet and took a bite. At that moment, I went from .... it was delicious. The cream cheese was not a punch in the face sweetness, but the smooth favor and texture went well with the moist-soft cake. Loved! The carrot cake was also good! I was first introduced to The Baker's Man when visiting the Urban Harvest Farmers Market on a Saturday morning as they have a vendor tent set up there. I bought the carrot cake Bundt cake, and my only regret was not buying more haha. The following week I found myself at this store on Main Street looking for more of the delicious Bundt cakes. I don't have a favorite flavor [yet] because I pretty much love everything that I have tried so far. Everything tastes very fresh with different flavors to satisfy your sweet tooth. They have different sizes from mini, personal and large. If you are seeking to buy a large Bundt cake, they recommend calling one day in advance to make sure that flavor will be reserved for you. Saw a quick segment on the morning news a few days ago about this place, and made a mental note to try it out soon. So today I did. Big mistake. The store on Main Street is nondescript, and completely devoid of character. Most small businesses project a feeling of unique and enticing character created by the decor and design of the physical space. This place had neither decor nor design, and the tiny space was so devoid of character as to actually feel spooky. Fortunately we were soon greeted by a smiling and friendly young man who suddenly appeared from an unmarked door in the back of the store. He explained a bit about what they have - three different sizes of cake, seven different flavors, and a sampler tray containing one small cupcake of each of the flavors. We chose the sampler, which came in a long, skinny, plain white, unmarked box. We took the box home excitedly looking forward to enjoying it with our afternoon coffee. The first big problem was opening the box. I got the two ends open, and it appeared to have an inner tray that might slide out, but I could not get the tray to slide. I tried cutting the top of the box, hoping to get the tray to slide out without damaging any of the beautiful little cakes inside. The tray would not slide until I had painstakingly cut off the entire top. Then indeed the tray slid nicely along the bottom of the box, which then seemed pointless since now the top of the box was completely off. The small cakes were adorable in appearance, and I put two on a plate to cut in half and share with my spouse. We were both extremely disappointed. My spouse took only a few bites before spitting it out. I gave more of an effort and took a bite from each of the seven types, hoping to find one that met the claims of the many great reviews that I read about the place. Each cake was a disappointment. The flavors were not bad, but all seemed muted and faded, and the texture seemed like it might have been moist and had a soft, rich mouth feel when freshly made. All seven of those beautiful little cakes were well past their prime, though I would have loved to have them when they were freshly made. This is the very first Yelp review that I have ever written. My disappointment was so great that I felt an obligation to write about it. read more
