Updating my 10 year old review. The soccer facility I played at moved, so I'm not here as often, and am definitely not closing the bar any longer. I do work in the area and we come for lunch and happy hour regularly. It's a minute from the Target, Lowe's, BJs shopping center and has a nice private lot. It's changed a bit in the last decade. They got rid of the 2 pool tables and now have more seating in the dining room. There is a full bar in this area as well, tho often closed unless it's really busy. What hasn't changed? The food is still tasty. Great smoked meats and amazing lunch specials during the week. They also do a great job hiring good servers here, efficient and personable. I think Marissa is the only server I've known long term, but Audrey waited on us today and was absolutely wonderful. Be sure to mention to her how much you love Audrey Hepburn, might score you a drink! The lunch specials are amazing. So amazing I don't even want to mention them because it already gets busy. Who knew that such a random find, would be such a highlight of me and my girls' evening? The only reason why Perky's couldn't get a 5-star rating is because their ribs were sold out & that was most of what our table wanted to try. We did however, have their brisket, honey hot wings, fries, and their cheesesteak, all that we enjoyed. I also have an obsession with pickles and I loved their pickles, along with the selection of BBQ sauce being available. Not sure if I'd want to come again due to the location but the environment was nice - there were TVs around the building if you arrive during a football game but a good spot to go to! It's tough to give a three star review to a place that was really quite nice. I only went in for lunch, it's my first time there. The building is nice. The bar is super comfortable and it looks like it would be a great place just to hang out with friends and have beer, play pool and watch sports. The bartender was super pleasant, and very attentive. The prices are great, a pulled pork sandwich was just $10 with a bag of chips and some pickles. In total with my Coke, it was just $14 for lunch. The problem isn't with any of this, it's at the barbecue in general had very little flavor. I think they are internally smoking it rather than using real wood, but I don't know for sure. However, it tasted as if they smoked it with absolutely no seasoning, rub, or anything else to give it that good barbecue flavor. read more

Came here specifically for the Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak! Right off the bat I'll say that it's completely worth it. It's stuffed with lots of brisket - best bang for your buck. Choice of cheese, side of potato chips, and pickles to boot. It can get extremely busy here and it's a seat yourself situation via mostly bar/hi-top type seating, so if that (and flagging down servers) is too hectic for you then takeout will probably be your best bet. read more

Had dinner at The Perky, a barbecue pub spot, while we were in town. I ordered the brisket and a quarter pound of ribs, but unfortunately, both were pretty dry and didn't have much flavor. The service itself was fine -- the bartender was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Super solid hidden gem. A little pricey, but comfortable and never too loud. Bartenders are always nice and serve good pours. Jukebox is a nice touch. This is a great little neighborhood bar. It doesn't have dart boards but it feels like it used to have dart boards until some incident happened and they had to get rid of them :). First time. Sadly disappointed. The brisket was good, but the bartender was awful. We ordered food and drinks at the bar. My sandwich came out with a separate order of fries...and she delivered someone else's sandwich to my spouse. When we told her, she said no problem, redelivered that sandwich to its rightful owner and we waited 25 minutes before my spouse got a meal. We had to ask for EVERYTHING; including menus, silverware, napkins, sauce for the brisket and drink refills. When we arrived it wasn't crowded. It was a Friday evening. By the time we left, it got busy, but we're shaking our heads and wondering if we just landed with a bad bartender or if this is the norm. We so wanted to love it. Maybe we'll try again. For the most part, it's a great place to go. Food is always good in there and the beer cold as we always need it. Outstanding brisket! this is a big claim but I have to say it is the best brisket I have ever had. I had the brisket sandwich and the brisket was super tender and pulled apart perfectly. The bark was 5 stars. I sat at the bar and the service was attentive and quick although it was a Tuesday at lunch time. I'll definitely be back and update my review accordingly. The Perky is located in an eclectic part of Phoenixville surrounded by housing, warehousing and industrial businesses. It is an old house with a ground floor converted into a bar on either side and tables for eating or drinking in the middle. All guest areas have views of multiple wide screen TVs. It's definitely a neighborhood-type place. Even though the surrounding environs are a little run down don't be shy to go there. Good people come here. For lunch, my wife ordered the Pork Sammie and I ordered the Brisket Sammie, both served on a fresh, flavorful potato roll. We both ordered a side of coleslaw even though our sammies came with a bag of kettle-style chips and slices of dill pickle. Served separately were three tomato based BBQ sauces and one mustard/vinegar based (Carolina style). My wife could not say enough good things about her sandwich. The edges of the pork were charred, the meat was flavorful, smokey and moist. I felt the same way about my brisket. The BBQ sauces were very good and if you can't find one you like then you must have been raised on BBQ sauce from a bottle. The coleslaw was fairly typical of what I expected although I'm not sure it was made there because of the container it comes in. I'm from Georgia so I understand good BBQ. This is good BBQ. 11/9/19 4:30 pm I was really looking forward to visiting The Perky as my husband had just gone to a work function held there and he really enjoyed the food so I was very eager to try it. Courtney was a fantastic server/bartender/everything. She really hustled and did a good job with the volume of customers she was serving, remaining pleasant and smiling through it all. My husband explained that the staff not only bartends but they handle the dining room area which is really one in the same. I don't think I would even call it a dining room, but I would call it a lounge. I wanted to try a signature item so I ordered the brisket (on the side) and the macaroni and cheese that I've heard amazing things about. The macaroni and cheese was delicious and obviously home made. It was rich and satisfying. The brisket was a major disappointment. It was dry and a good amount of what was served was dried up, overly seasoned (seasoning and smoke taste caked on to the exterior) and another piece was really fatty. The slices weren't thin and juicy as I've enjoyed at other places so even what was served here wasn't what I was expecting and I don't have much brisket experience. The atmosphere is dark and bar like. When I visited it was extremely noisy and loud. I would probably visit again, but in the very distant future. The other food looked amazing, prices are excellent and portions are generous. I would recommend using give it a try but I would definitely stay away from the brisket. read more

I've never been here since I was not from the area and it was very good! We got about 5 different wing flavors, my favorite being hot honey and the peanut. The garlic butter was also good. My only wish was more sauce. There was barely sauce on the garlic butter or peanut. The pulled pork quesadilla was very good, especially dipping it in the four house made sauces, my favorite being the apple BBQ it was amazing!!! Also recommend getting hoop tea for an adult drink. This is an absolutely classic bar. They call it the best in Oaks haha. It's almost always got a good number of people there, big age range. I finally tried the food and it was quite good bar food! Really tasty wings and good sized tenders. It's an energetic, happening environment. The only knock is that the bar tending service is sub par, might have to wait 5-10 minutes to get helped. I love the building/old house. I liked the brisket. Maybe it is a flaw in my brain but I expect brisket to come out moist. This was good brisket but dry for what I was expecting. Good roll, it didn't take away from the brisket. We tried Cheddar cheese at the advice of our bartender. The cheddar was good but kind of clumped on the bottom. I did not like $14. I love the BBQ here, but sometimes I wish they would just say that they're out of something rather than putting together a bunch of scraps to try to make up a 1/2 pound of meat. The food was definitely good and I am sure the service and environment will be better on the next visit. Also, don't get the cole slaw.
