Place is trash over priced alcohol. Food not great. Just crazy to charge 17$ a shot of buffalo trace when it's legit 40$ a bottle. Insanity.

I wrote to them a month ago and got no reply. This is what I wrote: To Whom It May Concern: On Saturday afternoon, 1/24, at 4:25pm, I called and placed a call ahead order for a 6:00 pick-up. I placed an order over the phone for a large white seafood pizza - light on the spice. When I arrived, AN order was ready and when I went to pay she told be "$12.95". I knew that was not right so I asked. She said "yes - white pizza". I said "no" and restated the correct order. She spoke to a gentleman and he came and said "we can make a new one but it will take 15-17 minutes". I said "ok - fine". As I sat and waited, no one spoke to me or offered me an apology. When I was told the pizza was ready, the server verified I was a large white seafood light on the spice. I answered"yes. thank you. anything else?" she said "did you order anything else"? I said "no, but I was hoping for an apology and perhaps an offer of anything for the mistake and inconvenience". She said nothing. The guy behind the counter that spoke to me earlier asked her to verify it was the correct pizza as there was a second box on the counter and she confirmed. As I was walking out, I looked at him and asked "no apology? no offer to discount? no free garlic bread? anything?" He said "what do you want?" I said "I shouldn't have to ask." and walked out. All he said was "OK. Have a good night". I have been ordering this pizza from you for over 20 years, especially during Lent, (I live around the corner) and this was the first time I had an issue. But to be dismissed the way I was for what clearly was your mistake and there was no attempt to smooth it over and make it right was extremely disappointing. Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon. Awesome old style restaurant & bar. Bar is in the back room and has a very vintage vibe. Looks like it would be hopping on Eagles Sundays. Bartender was busy but attentive. Ordered up some spicy shrimp and a roast pork sandwich. Both were very good eats - great spot for a bite. read more

I have lived in the area for over 15 years. I'm old school and have not posted many reviews. Please stop by this restaurant/bar. In over 15 years, I have NEVER had a bad meal here. Honestly. From a slice of plain pizza all the way to king crab legs, a cheesesteak, ribeye steak dinner special or maybe even a delicious bowl of homemade soup. I'll never forget the grilled tomahawk pork chop I had. Absolutely delicious. Please Do NOT over look the dinner specials. I was craving crab legs so I found this restaurant( Italian/ cajun smash), they have snow crab, king crab and dungeness crab! I have never had dungeness crab before, I was telling myself to just try it--why not? Turned out it's actually very tasty with the house special seasoning(a little spicy)! It was easier to eat than I would imagine because of it's tough shell. All the seafoods I had so far was pretty fresh and the service was quick and friendly. Just ordered 2 fish sandwiches, with cocktail sauce, for takeout. (Nippers is advertised as having the best fish sandwiches around). Got them home and started eating. The fish was obviously a frozen pattie, deep fried in oil. With my first bite, my mouth was filled with partially cooked, soggy fish. The container of cocktail sauce was still frozen. I ordered breaded buffalo wings (10) and I'm just still shocked how take-out prices got so high.. this is a crisis.. I don't understand how 10 wings cost $16.91... and the cashier woman owed me 9 cents but only gave me a nickel. Which it's fine but the fact that she didn't say anything just ticks me off. Anyways, the wings were ok, some of them were so small, it would be nice to get an extra wing for paying nearly $17. And if I'm paying $17 I would like a nice portion of dipping sauce, I got the smallest bleu cheese I've ever seen. We ended up here serendipitously and are so thankful as this Dive is delivering big flavors. The seafood pizza with white sauce was AMAZING. Balanced with a good amount of toppings without being too much. The Nipper wings were crispy and the sauce was spot on. The French quarter burger and loaded fries were cheesy goodness that left us sad we were only passing through. When we are in town we will be sure to stop in again. Service was great. Definitely. Dive with respect to decor, but who really cares :-). We did done in on a MNF night and as the night went on it got a bit louder and a little less family friendly, but I would bring young kids earlier in the evening with no concerns. A couple years ago we would get so excited about ordering, or heading to Nippers. Amazing seafood, and their burgers ! Amazing. About 6 months ago we got burgers and you could tell they were cooked on a grill that was way too hot. Burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. So cold i threw it away bc i didn't want to get sick. This time we were hoping for better. Burgers again. Better than the last but in no way could we tell which burger was medium well and which was medium rare. Fries were super cold. Old. Prob sat there for hours. Had lunch today and got the Alligator burger and the wife got the surf and turf poboy. Burger was fantastic as well as the French quarter fries. The poboy was a letdown. We both like ours a bit drier or as wet as a lobster roll. The sandwich was very "wet" and neither of us could finish it. read more

This place is so interesting. It's like a Norristown melting pot in a surprisingly good way. Sure, you'll sometimes come across a few strange characters sitting at the bar, but I've never felt it to be a problem. It's basically what you'd expect from a local var full of townies. The most popular stuff there are the crabs (that's why they call it Nippers I suppose) and pizza. There's a brick oven pizza shop connected. It's a decent crab cake for PA if not a little small. The pizza is very appropriate drunk food. They've got your standard karaoke and trivia nights. The bartenders know what they're doing. For the area, you're getting about what you'd expect. read more

The only time I stop in here is when I come here with some coworkers for lunch. It is regular bar food and they have a few sandwich, soup and even some salad selections from time to time. Had an absolutely great experience here on Valentine's day. Met plenty of friendly people at the bar. They had a special menu with plenty of decadent seafood. We shared the King crab bisque, stuffed scallop she'll with mixed seafood and the bacon wrapped scallops. Bacon was crispy without the scallops being stringy. I then ordered the Burger. This review is solely for the bar experience: I came by tonight to grab a drink with a friend whose been here tons of times. She knows I tend to like dive-esque type bars, so she figured I would like this one. The bar was super busy (every stool was taken when we were there), but the bartender handled everything very well. Our drinks were strong and well mixed (unlike some other bars I've been to). This is like the neighborhood bar hangout; the type of place you go with your friends to grab a drink. I'd say 3 stars overall, and an extra star for the super nice bartender (with her strong drinks!). read more

I finally mustered up the courage to order delivery and well, NOTHING was disappointing. I had been craving wings but, I always get nervous ordering wings from new places because I HATE soggy skin. I order the breaded wings and they were amazing! The crispness, the tenderness and man oh man the seasoning was more than on point. I didn't have to add salt or season salt which for me is beyond rare. My SO got the beer battered fish sandwich and would only give me a bite lol. I love surprises. This was certainly the case when the boys and I finished a round at the Jeffersonville Golf Club. We simply chose Nippers due to the proximity and have a draft with the long time friends before we part ways. All I can speak to is the wings, pizza, and beer, but seriously, aren't those considered standards? The service is friendly, courteous, and very inviting. The beer selection exceeded many restaurant breweries I've visited. We really enjoyed the Level Up Tropical IPA and easily went through 2 pitchers. A hoppy citrus blend which paired well with our food. We started with the naked wings (half were sauced and the other plain). Options are always a plus. The wings were a good size and you know they're done right when you get that light crisp when biting down. The pizza was extraordinary! We've ordered the supreme and they were very generous with the toppings. I can't think of the last time I've eaten pizza this delicious. It's a great sign when you need to fold your slice to contain the toppings. It's an even better sign when the slice doesn't collapse. It's a great indicator of a crispy crust, and wow, it hit the mark! The cheese was stretchy, "stringy", and the sauce was nicely seasoned and tasty. My friends and I couldn't stop interrupting our own conversations just to note how wonderful the pizza tasted. Our server checked in on us frequently and was fantastic. Been here many times. Dont be shocked...but its a locals place. Dont be offended if the bartenders dont jump all over you when you are seated. Beers are beers so I'll skip that. Alaskan King Crab legs soaked in salty, peppery buttery sauce isn't a good enough reason alone to travel to Norristown from Philly along the doom corridor of Rt. 76, but enjoying them in the fine company of your suburban-dwelling friends is! This humble pizza pub is divided into two sections: a kid-friendly pizzeria and a more raucous tavern. We took our local friends' advice and loaded up on mussels in red sauce, those epic king crab legs and plenty of super-crispy fried wings. A $10 bowl of mussels was perfectly cooked, the mollusks tender and sweet in a homey tomato broth rich with seasoning. Our friendly server provided half a loaf of soft white bread for dipping. Two baskets of ten wings ($7.95 each) were delivered piping hot from the fryer. Their crunchy, breaded coating recalled good fried chicken more so than the usual Buffalo wing, and the ample sides of bleu cheese and spicy sauce were plentiful -- don't you hate when joints are stingy with the essential condiments? King of the table were the crab legs. Four generous legs in each order, they were not a bargain ($25) but so delicious it was well worth the splurge. These were coated in Nipper's seasoning, a housemade version of Old Bay, steamed and finished on the grill. The meat was succulent and sweet once we had scissored our way through the hard shells. This review is not based on the food side. This is based on the night time antics. I've gone a couple nights, most recently for karaoke, and I felt like I stepped into a bad nightclub. I will say the singers weren't bad, but the girls were dressed like they belonged on the street corner. The bartenders are good, I didn't have to wait long for a drink even though the bar was packed, so that was a redeeming quality. I don't think I'll visit much, as Chap's down the street is much nicer even if the service isn't as good. read more
