My daughter just turned 11 and she wanted more of an edgy haircut done by someone she felt comfortable with. From the photos and reviews, I felt like this place was it. She went in telling me what she wanted as though she's shy sometimes, so I can tell the person cutting her hair. But with her stylist, I was surprised she told him what she wanted, how short, and he asked if she liked it at the end! She said she wanted it a little shorter, so he went right back in and perfected it. She wanted a cut where she could express herself, done by someone she felt comfortable with and that's the exact experience she got! Normally she doesn't want help with her hair because I like to curl, braid, etc. (she said it's too girly and not her). But this morning, she asked for help on a way to style it. It warmed my heart because now she said she feels like herself. Derrick is amazing, the vibe of the salon is earthy, warm, cat friendly, and welcoming. We loved it, she's excited for her next cut, we'll definitely be booking again Thank you so much Derrick. You helped boost her confidence and made a huge difference on the girl who left this morning to go to school to show all her "besties" read more

I love all of these people and the style ia awesome! Claudine does the best hair and all my family goes to her. Their social media rocks!

I had got my haircut here earlier this year and it was great. I tried to book a haircut in early October. They had to cancel rescheduled me to a later date. It was now late October as my appointment date came up they cancelled me again asking if a reschedule would be fine again. I texted them to try and figure out an appropriate date after being cancelled twice but they never responded or reached out. Its unfortunate ill be going elsewhere for my haircut. read more

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Talked to "colorist Claudine" or whatever her stupid name is. Trash attitude, doesn't know what a client is. Should be working at Great Clips. On top of it all, salon is major cringe. Save your money go elsewhere. read more

Claudine has been doing my hair for over a year and I will never go to anyone else! Her attention to detail is hard to come by, and just all around talent. She recently did a reverse balayage on me to add warmth and dimension into my one tone bleached hair and it's absolutely beautiful. I also am not sure how she cuts hair so magically but it looks amazing every time. Always a great time every time I go to her. I'm committed for life and recommend her to everyone I know! read more

Love this place! Such an awesome crew of people and talented artists located in this cute brick-style space off Central.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Willo and Root. It is a cute and welcoming salon with an awesome neighborhood feel. When moving to downtown Phoenix 5 years ago, it was my goal to find a salon within walking distance of my home, that had a relaxed, homey feel, while still being professional and providing outstanding services. I found all that and more in Willo and Root, formally Studio 6 and had my first appointment on the day that they opened their doors. Jessilyn has been my stylist for most of those 5 years. I am so happy with the color and cut that she does for me each month and always receive many compliments on my hair. I have not only recommended Jessilyn to friends to book their hair services with her but my entire family gets their haircuts from Jessilyn as well. My husband says "Nobody has ever cut my hair as well as Jessilyn, she is amazing" we both could easily come in for her incredible hair wash/ scalp messages everyday, which are transformative after a long and stressful day. Jessilyn is sweet and easy to work with, always willing to accommodate our busy schedules. She even does Sunday appointments, which often works the best for our family. There is a nice vibe in the salon amongst all the other stylists. They all seem to get along well with one another and genuinely like each other. A feeling that comes a across to the clients, creating a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly to all of the clients that walk through the door, regardless if that is their client or not. It makes me feel more like family than just another client. Give Willo and Root a try, you won't be sorry you did! read more

Was my first time at Faction House but have been going to Derrick for quite a while. Loved the new shop and location. If you are looking for high quality go see them! read more

I have seen Derrick 4 times now and I have recipes exactly what I wanted every time. I know what I want my hair and beard to look like and Derrick hears me and gives me what I ask for. Often times when getting a beard trim or hair cut I would not be heard and I would bot get the best results. Derrick gets it and the shop is always clean and I feel comfortable there. Derrick is also very good at small talk and there is never an awkward silence. Derrick knows his stuff and he does things the right way. read more

Yaneli was absolutely fantastic! I came in with a picture in mind, wanting to go shorter than my hair was. She used the natural texture and body of my hair to create a haircut that was 1000% better than the picture and it was customized to not only my hair but my face and overall look! Couldn't be more pleased! She is AMAZING! read more

Don't know where to start. Dylan is awesome! Always listens to your needs and gets you what you want. He always has suggestions to make it even better. Aaliyah at Willow and Root fit me in last minute to give my dirty blonde covid roots a complete makeover. I wanted to blend my very over processed blonde hair into a more natural look and allow my natural to grow out. She really listened and helped explain why low lighting would do just the trick! I have had other colorists tell me i just have to grow it out and its been painful and ugly. Now my hair looks ten times better the low lights and highlight blend that 5" root growth perfect and i am very very happppppy!!!!!! the whole studio is buzzing and everyone is cheerful and the plants in the salon are lovely and really just a great experience!!! would highly recommend !!!! - nicole read more

Even prior to visiting the adorable salon, I was greeted over the phone with amazing individuals! My stylist Nora ended up working flexibly with my budget to help me accomplish a fresh and fun new look. Not only that, she left me feeling beautiful from the inside out. After my very first visit to Willo & Root I can honestly say, I've never found better hair care or hair people out there. Such an accepting group of staff make you feel as if its never too late to join the family! So grateful I stumbled upon them. read more

I scheduled a consultation for a balayage early in the morning on a Saturday. I was asked to push my appointment 15 minutes later which I was okay with. I got my consultation and the hair stylist advised me she was going out of town for the following month and she could get me in for an appointment before she left, this was a little strange to me because I didn't see any openings for a month but she said she had an opening a week after my consultation I said okay. She texted me the night before the appointment confirming our appointment for the next day I said yes. An hour later she asked if we could push my appointment back 30 minutes.. I was like okay sure but wondering how often does this girl do this. The next morning she texted me to cancel saying she was sick, it was strange to me because she was going out of town in the following days. I was super disappointed, she offered me a discount once she came back but I didn't respond. What really got me is that the day after she cancelled my appointment she was posting photos of her clients for that day. Made me feel like she just cancelled my appointment. I will not return. read more

I absolutely love these stylists! They are so great as individuals and as a collaborative team!

I went to one of the hairdressers here (I won't name names) to get my hair done and liked the way she cut it. I liked it so much that I wanted her to do a balayage/baby lights the next month since she offered to do it for a special price of $100. The day before my balayage appointment she texted me a reminder. The next day she asked if I could reschedule for the day after. On the following day she texted me saying she was going to stop doing hair altogether and would have to cancel our appointment. A week later I saw her post a picture of a balayage on instagram. I felt like she just didn't want me as a customer and that I was lied to. I really feel like this was all very shady, confusing and misleading. I've never been treated that way before by a hairdresser in my life. read more
