Atmosphere is lovely, lots of plants and decor. Stylist that cut my hair was incredibly friendly and listened to what I wanted. Got a hot towel for my neck then shaped my hair line. Haircut was CLEAN. I never looked so good or felt so good. Definitely my new stylist. read more

I had got my haircut here earlier this year and it was great. I tried to book a haircut in early October. They had to cancel rescheduled me to a later date. It was now late October as my appointment date came up they cancelled me again asking if a reschedule would be fine again. I texted them to try and figure out an appropriate date after being cancelled twice but they never responded or reached out. Its unfortunate ill be going elsewhere for my haircut. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Willo and Root. It is a cute and welcoming salon with an awesome neighborhood feel. When moving to downtown Phoenix 5 years ago, it was my goal to find a salon within walking distance of my home, that had a relaxed, homey feel, while still being professional and providing outstanding services. I found all that and more in Willo and Root, formally Studio 6 and had my first appointment on the day that they opened their doors. Jessilyn has been my stylist for most of those 5 years. I am so happy with the color and cut that she does for me each month and always receive many compliments on my hair. I have not only recommended Jessilyn to friends to book their hair services with her but my entire family gets their haircuts from Jessilyn as well. My husband says "Nobody has ever cut my hair as well as Jessilyn, she is amazing" we both could easily come in for her incredible hair wash/ scalp messages everyday, which are transformative after a long and stressful day. Jessilyn is sweet and easy to work with, always willing to accommodate our busy schedules. She even does Sunday appointments, which often works the best for our family. There is a nice vibe in the salon amongst all the other stylists. They all seem to get along well with one another and genuinely like each other. A feeling that comes a across to the clients, creating a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly to all of the clients that walk through the door, regardless if that is their client or not. It makes me feel more like family than just another client. I have seen Derrick 4 times now and I have recipes exactly what I wanted every time. I know what I want my hair and beard to look like and Derrick hears me and gives me what I ask for. Often times when getting a beard trim or hair cut I would not be heard and I would bot get the best results. Derrick gets it and the shop is always clean and I feel comfortable there. Derrick is also very good at small talk and there is never an awkward silence. Derrick knows his stuff and he does things the right way. read more

She used the natural texture and body of my hair to create a haircut that was 1000% better than the picture and it was customized to not only my hair but my face and overall look! Aaliyah at Willow and Root fit me in last minute to give my dirty blonde covid roots a complete makeover. I wanted to blend my very over processed blonde hair into a more natural look and allow my natural to grow out. She really listened and helped explain why low lighting would do just the trick! I have had other colorists tell me i just have to grow it out and its been painful and ugly. I scheduled a consultation for a balayage early in the morning on a Saturday. I was asked to push my appointment 15 minutes later which I was okay with. I got my consultation and the hair stylist advised me she was going out of town for the following month and she could get me in for an appointment before she left, this was a little strange to me because I didn't see any openings for a month but she said she had an opening a week after my consultation I said okay. She texted me the night before the appointment confirming our appointment for the next day I said yes. An hour later she asked if we could push my appointment back 30 minutes.. I was like okay sure but wondering how often does this girl do this. The next morning she texted me to cancel saying she was sick, it was strange to me because she was going out of town in the following days. I was super disappointed, she offered me a discount once she came back but I didn't respond. What really got me is that the day after she cancelled my appointment she was posting photos of her clients for that day. Made me feel like she just cancelled my appointment. I went to one of the hairdressers here (I won't name names) to get my hair done and liked the way she cut it. I liked it so much that I wanted her to do a balayage/baby lights the next month since she offered to do it for a special price of $100. The day before my balayage appointment she texted me a reminder. The next day she asked if I could reschedule for the day after. On the following day she texted me saying she was going to stop doing hair altogether and would have to cancel our appointment. A week later I saw her post a picture of a balayage on instagram. I felt like she just didn't want me as a customer and that I was lied to. I really feel like this was all very shady, confusing and misleading. I've never been treated that way before by a hairdresser in my life. read more
