I cannot begin to comprehend what was in Terry's mind when he started my haircut. Because what I look at today is nothing like the picture I showed him. Does he even know how far the haircut he gave me is from the picture? It doesn't help that he has to stand on a mat that then requires him to turn the chair to the side so I couldn't see what he was doing. Had I been able to watch I might've been able to intervene. I picked up a Living Social deal and lucked out when I scored an appointment with Janine, an energetic, chatty hairdresser who definitely loves her job and, more importantly, rocks at it. I hadn't had a haircut in a while, and the ends of my hair were pretty much mummified by the Phoenix dry heat. I wanted to cut my hair a little shorter than normal, but I also needed to be able to whip back my hair in a second and secure it out of my face (job requirement when you deal with bleeding and vomiting people on a daily basis). When Janine started cutting my hair in layers, I was worried that the shortest layer would fall out of my ponytail, but I definitely shoudn't have doubted her - my hair is the perfectly length. When I called the salon, they said they would have the stylist call me back to schedule. She was prompt on calling back, but rather curt on the phone. No manners. I felt uneasy, but went anyway. Do not go to Lacey! Big mistake! She was curt at the salon, cut me off while I was explaining what I wanted, and obviously did not hear me as my cut is horrible. She barely made conversation while cutting my hair. It looked just okay in the salon and when I tried to style it this morning, I could see it was a disaster. I bought the Living Social deal for cut & color and saw Lacy here a few months ago. It was pretty much a disaster. I was changing my hair from a medium brown to blonde sombre to red and I wanted to make sure there would be grey coverage since I had noticed a few. I brought several pictures on my phone of what type of red I wanted. She barely glanced at them but seemed very confident in the idea of what I wanted so I wasn't worried. She asked if I was okay with my hair still having the ombre effect but in red tones since my ends were so light. I was fine with this and we moved forward to the coloring. The color processing took forever. Maybe thats normal for red? I don't know but I know I sat and watched a cooking show begin and end and another begin and get about halfway before she decided we were ready to rinse the color. This was where it got bad. She was audibly worried as soon as she started to rinse and asked me how long it had been since I colored my hair. I told her it had been about 4-5 months since my naturall color blended into the ombre well. She then let me know that she had no idea my roots were my natural undyed hair and because of this they had come out a bit "hot". Once I got to the mirror I saw that "hot" meant cheeto orange even while still wet. I don't know why she assumed I would come to get my hair cut and dyed with absolutely zero growth, especially when I had expressed concern about covering greys. She assured me it was fixable and reapplied the color and I again processed for 30-45 minutes. The end result was still bright roots that were noticably lighter than the rest of the color and an average cut. The stylist I'm now seeing elsewhere was pretty horrified but the dye job. She said she assumed I had done it myself with box color. Lacy was completely oblivious to the fact I was unhappy with the color and actually took an appointment for another cut while I was processing, which I hate. Looking at the other reviews it seems like this place worked out great for some and the decor was nice but I would definitely choose a stylist other than Lacy. read more

The salon is lovely. I never would have discovered this little gem had I not come to see the best colorist in town Daniel. My mother and I have been going to Daniel for well over 20 years and faithfully follow him to wherever he lands. (Like seriously I would let him color my hair in a gas station bathroom if that's what it took haha.) Needless to say this salon is very nice, the decor is chic modern. The chairs in the reception area were very comfortable and the energy when you walk in is very contagious. The other stylists seemed nice and friendly. Daniel works magic with color, I am very picky about who touches my hair and he has never let me down. Cherry combines the ambiance of an upscale salon and mixes it with the culture and energy of a corner barbershop. Everyone is very chatty and the stylists are constantly giving one another shit. I made appointment to get a fill on my lashes. I decided to check this place out as it's way closer than where I usually go and the website stated a fill was$40-45 for a fill. Since I work west of this location I rushed over but was 5mn late, the girl who was doing my service said that we would have to do what we could because service was only an hour and I was late. Understandable but as a first time client she didn't eve greet me. When we got into room, it then took her another 10 mn to set up which from what she said shouldn't it have been ready to go if only had an hour. I tend to get anxiety in certain situation one being my lashes and I explained that to her. But with the noise in the salon and her keeping the door open, her demeanor towards me I had to really focus on getting my anxiety in check which was just an awful experience. I felt like I had to be social and talk to her instead of the other way around. She was not very warm and maybe that is her but I felt she was in a bad mood because of me being late. On top of that when she was done my lashes were still not dry and I had to leave. Once dry my lashes were crunchy from the glue used and were by put on the base of my lashes so that the eyelashes curled under into my eye. Furthermore the cost was actually $50 and not what the website stated. I didn't say anything because I just wanted to get out of there at that point. I understand I was late but felt that the treatment I received was not justified. read more

I was referenced to Eva by one of her customers. I spoke to Eva in length about what I was looking for. Booked the appointment a month ago. I received a text from Eva the day before my appointment in the afternoon that she was cutting back her hours and not taking new clients. Just before the Thanksgiving holiday so too late to find someone at this point. I sent Eva a text asking if she could recommend someone no response. This is very unprofessional. The least she could have done was keep my appointment and then tell me in person that she was not taking on client's. I wonder if the entire salon runs this way or just Eva. I found Cherry the Salon online and decided to make an appointment with Janine. I had read some great reviews about her and liked that she was close to my age. The salon was charming with a nice decor. Janine immediately put me at ease and listened to how I wanted my hair cut. She was very attentive and easy to talk to. Lacy has been my stylist well over 10 years. I have very curly hair and she always cuts it so I can manage it. She is a genius in coloring my gray hair. Last year I had back surgery and as a result I was losing my hair. Lacy quickly stepped in, recommend hair products and cut and styled my hair to minimize me thinning hair. Needless to say, I was devastated about my hair loss. After helping me for several months, my hair began to grow back and due to Lacy's help, I have a full head of hair. I can see from other posts that some folks think that Lacy is "kurt". She is very smart, she says what she means and is very direct. She is not very chatty when she works and I frankly enjoy that.
