Thanks to Ashlen at Root Bar for a five star first visit... I recently went in to support this local business and of course to pamper myself a bit with a blowout. As I was booking, I decided to try the Rewind Treatment as well. It's described as "anti-aging reparative in-salon service over-engineered to instantly reverse the signs of aging and correct years of structural and external damage to chemically treated, mechanically compromised and maturing hair. Results are immediate, preventative and last up to 10 washes." I have yet to see how long the Rewind Treatment lasts, but I was pleased with the way my hair felt afterwards... not sure how drastically different it was, but hey -- I tried something new! I spent a couple of hours getting these services done on a Friday afternoon and took advantage of Root Bar's wifi, so I was able to get some work done at the same time... I call that a win-win! The staff was friendly and professional and following mask guidelines during my visit. This location is super convenient for me, so I'll definitely be back for a blow-out and perhaps experiment with some of their other offerings in the future as well. Thanks Root Bar! I have been coming to Root Bar for over a year now, and I have to say that I love it so much! I need root touch ups every 3-4 weeks and absolutely hate sitting in a salon chair for hours on end. At root bar, they have a 10 minute color process. I am in an out in less than an hour! They also let me leave with wet hair so that I can get out of there... It is perfect for me. Every time that I am there, all the other women in the salon also seem to be enjoying themselves and happy to be there. Dana and Katie are also fantastic. Yay for root bar! I came to root bar for a blow out for a wedding I was officiating. I think her name is Naomi was my stylist. She was chatty but not over the top, friendly, professional and sweet. I've been to this color bar a few times, the first was to go back to my natural color from having blonde for several years. I saw Tori most times. She originally took my color way too dark (see attached photo), it was not color matched properly. When I went back for a consultation about bringing up the color so that my regrowth wasn't harsh, the lady said that my original color was not done properly as she didn't even "fill" my blonde color. The lady that gave me this advice is no longer there and actually moved salons, we did not do anything that day because she advised me that I would most likely require an entire color correction unless I let my hair grown out and balanced to color from there. Flash forward to about 3 weeks ago, I went to see them again and was placed with the lady that originally took me too dark. I requested her to just blend my roots in with an all over color because I had some bands in my hair. I even acknowledged that it is OKAY if my bands are still showing, that I do not want a darker color just to cover the imperfections. She then took my hair even darker than it has ever been. I called the following day*** and calmly explained why I was unhappy, asking for suggestions on how to remove this. I was told that they would get back to me on a way they could fix the mishap since it was a staff error in color matching. When I was reached back out to by a manager, Katie. She said she was going to seek out the color remover and would contact me that Monday. It was in this same phone call that she confided that the staff I had been seeing has had previous color matching challenges, keep that in mind. The following Monday, I didn't get a call as promised as a matter of fact I never got a call. I called them a week and a half after they had verbally said they would call me and a man answered, he put me on hold, came back on the line and said "I want to reiterate that we do not usually do this service here, we are doing this as a courtesy." I agreed because this was what I understood about my situation already, that it was an error and mistake on their end so they were responsible for mending the issue. He booked me in, I came in, saw Katie who was color removing me that day and was the one who agreed to take on the service. The service itself was pleasant, the staff is great and was kind in person. After my service though, she requested $100 for the service that was supposed to be "complimentary" because of one of their*** staff errors, not an error on my end. I was not prepared to pay this and I am extremely disappointed in not only the communication but also the integrity among the staff. I believe this is a disappointing way to conduct business given a.) this was a staff error, so a color remover should not be charged, b.) I was told from their own management that this staff had previous color matching issues and c.) they requested a payment of $100, because it was a "color correction" service, which it is not. It is a color remover/wash service. I will unfortunately not feel comfortable coming here again and I don't expect to get a refund for what I was able to "pay" which I should never had to front in the first place. I will update this post if anything gets resolved. I've attached a photo of the stark difference you can see in the color matching. I was running late for my appointment but would not have been more than 10 minutes late and called to let them know. No one answered so I left a message. The called me back at 5 min past my appointment and said they would have to cancel because they only give you 5 min, which is a lie because the confirmation email even says "10 minutes or later" which I would have made. I actually arrived in the salon at the 10 minute mark. The "stylist" still kept insisting that 5 min is all you get even though policy in writing is 10. I'm sorry but you are literally just putting conditioner on my hair and leaving me under a dryer for $75. Stop acting like you are doing brain surgery or anything that requires skill. read more

I moved to Phoenix from NYC. I'm really particular and weary of colorists since I'm Asian ( been through so many disappointments and waste of money) and it is very hard to find someone who understands this type of hair and colors to match my skin tone. I miss my fabulous colorist at Warren Tricomi at The Plaza. She was the only person who always made my hair look natural and amazing. It was a sad day when I had to say good bye. After a few bad experiences here in Phoenix with other colorists which left my hair brassy & looking like a pumpkin explosion....I'm happy to share that I found my new hair home!! Yesterday I booked with Katie a root to tip, gloss and blowout service . To be honest I was apprehensive trying a new place. But as soon as I walked in Root bar, I felt really welcomed by (I'm sorry I forgot your name! ) a beautiful lady (she was so nice and informative) and chic decor made me have a little more confidence in the salon. Let's talk about my beautiful luscious "new" hair! Immediately upon meeting Katie - well...I felt like I was meeting up with a good friend! I didn't quite know what I wanted and after the consult - she somehow knew exactly what I wanted and needed! My hair never felt softer, shinier and beautiful! I think I thanked her a gazillion times, saying she gave me brand new hair lol and was totally blown away and HAPPY with every service I received. If you need a colorist who makes miracles happen make an appt with Katie! They are currently running a Valentine's Day special which ends soon... $140 (not sure on exact price) I think for either 4 blowouts or 4 root SO worth it. I bought a package before my appointment but in my excitement after seeing my hair I forgot to buy another one and will be doing that right after my review!
