The staff was rude, the service was terrible and the food wasn't even good. we waited an hour for our food and they only had 2 other tables. they never gave us an update and after 45 mins, we asked about our food and only after we asked did they start to cook/prepare it. it was just sandwiches and fries and came out 15 mins after we asked. will never be back. read more

Flies! Flies! Flies! Kids had a good meal, chicken was good, Mac and cheese was tasty. Their bbq and ranch sauce was not good on the other hand. Their fries are like fair type fires, fresh, skinny and good with malt vinegar. Disappointed with the burger, it was like a meatball in a bun. The brioche bun could have been toasted. Been going to the Pavilion for a couple of years. Haven't been there in a while though. Today 011725 my wife and I stopped in about 5:30. My wife order the soup and Sandwich, Chicken Sandwich w/ French onion soup, I ordered the steak Ceasars salad. We shared a blooming onion. The blooming onion was bland, the steak Ceasar was basically tasteless. The chicken sandwich was served burnt and black. Will not be back for awhile, very disappointed. Service was okay not great. Do yourself a favor and order the cheese curds. Life changing. Best appetizer I've ever had. Out of the pina colada so my wife didn't order a drink because she was in a frozen drink mood. Main plates were excellent- queso burger was cooked perfectly and the meat was very flavorful. Kids grilled cheese served on brioche was good and my mahi tacos were delicious with the slaw being the highlight. My son had the mac & cheese with steak and said it was his favorite meal ever. I have been to this restaurant in the past and have recommended it both to Yelp and to many of my friends. Last night, a group of ladies that I belong to called "The Cooks Group", dined at this establishment. It must have been an off night. We had reservations and didn't have to wait long to long. However, I ordered the Ravioli and shrimp, and most of the group followed suit. We had to wait quite a while for our food to be delivered to the table. I had already finishing my second glass of water before our food came to the table. My food was cold but was overcooked. My meal consisted of 3 pieces of ravioli and 4 shrimp. This was not enough for me as an entire and I thought $22 was too much to pay to leave hungry. In defense of the wait staff and management I did not complain. It was the birthday of a group member and I didn't want to put a damper on the evening. I was embarrassed that I recommend this restaurant so highly to this group. This was my third time stopping by since this place opened. It has never been stellar, but I decided to try it again. We arrive a little after 11am. We were seated promptly but noticed after ordering our drinks we seemed to have been forgotten about. Finally they came to take our order. Simple lunch food. Hamburger with watermelon slices and my friend ordered the Mac and cheese with steak. After setting there for 45min and my friend having a work related call she had to take at 1, I began to become frustrated with the delay. Our waitress had told us we were next, that was 15min before this point. We were given not explanation on the wait besides that. When I finally spoke loud enough about the delay the waitress response was not one of apologizing but instead very curt and defensive. That was when we chose to walk out. I like to support local establishments when ever I can, but some communication and customer service skills go a long ways. If there was more competition in Vermilion for lunch I dount this place would remain open. Im not going to say avoid this establishment, but do not have a anything else you want to do in the area. I've been to The Pavilion a number of times, seeing as I live across the street. Every visit I hope to have an experience more rewarding than the last, every visit I'm disappointed. If you're having a hearty meal expect it to be soaked in grease, and expect a lighter meal like a salad to be completely out of proportion, and lacking balancing flavors. I've yet to see anything from the chef more creative than a 'tortilla made of cheese'. If you're looking for no more than calories to fill your gut, this is your spot; but if you want a tasty, satisfying, nutritional meal, look elsewhere. read more

My wife went there with a friend for lunch on 4/25/2025 and paid with an AMEX card. I checked my statement on 4/27/25 and there were two charges on my card for the same day and both had posted. I contacted the restaurant and explained what had happened and the individual on the phone stated the manager would be in at 4:00 PM and they would reach out to me. I never heard back. I checked my AMEX statement again on 4/28/2025 to see if the one charge had been removed and were both still there. I contacted the restaurant again and told the individual I had called yesterday regarding an erroneous charge on my credit card and was told a manager would get back to me but no one ever did. The lady stated there was a note about my call and that I needed to call back after 5:00 PM when the manager was in. I informed her they needed to call me as it wasn't my responsibility to continually follow up with them to rectify the problem. The lady became rude and said whatever and hung up. Do not go to this restaurant as apparently they have servers or someone at the cash register that is committing credit card fraud. I now have to contact AMEX and have my card replaced for security purposes. The attitude of the individual on the phone at the establishment as well as the apparent absentee management is far from professional and the credit card fraud is criminal in nature. read more

Great food! This is a small restaurant in vermilion. Most tables only seat 2 or 4 people so they cannot accommodate large groups. The menu had a lot to offer - appetizers, soup, salads, sandwiches and dinner options. I tried the onion soup and apple Brie sandwich with a side salad. Everything was good and fresh. My husband had the Guinness battered cod special. Which was also very good. Portions are a good size. Nikki our waitress was awesome. A completely pleasant surprise! The Pavilion Grill is located in downtown Vermilion in the central business district. Its walking distance from other local businesses and is a perfect compliment to your afternoon in the area. They have street parking nearby but not a direct private parking lot, so if you're not familiar with the locale, be patient and prepared to walk a block or two. The Pavilion Grill is a quaint setting in a historic landmark. This location was once the 1847 General Store in town but has been refurbished. You can still see vintage touches of its historical bones in some of the atmosphere. We went for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. For lunch, we had the onion appetizer and I had the salmon sandwich. I'm always a sucker for anything salmon related, and the sandwich was a perfect dish for lunch. The service was friendly and everything we ordered was delicious. They have a few tables outside but the inside seating is also comfortable, and its fun to watch Downtown Vermilion bustle by. Absolutely love this hidden gem of a place! The staff is always wonderful and super helpful, especially if you have questions on the menu or concerns on dietary restrictions. There's not a lot of seating but plenty of character to the place. I promise it's worth it if you have to wait. If you've not tried sweet fried pickles, this is the place to do it as they're done very well. My favorite dish is the winter chicken though the Mediterranean chicken is delicious as well. Make sure you save room for dessert or at least get it to go!! My son dreams about the cookies and cream and the sticky brown butter cake is 100% worth taking a cheat day for. read more

Every once in a while I get a meal that just blows me away. That happened tonight at Pavilion Grill. We've had good food there before - the steak salad sets a really high bar. The bar is always reliable. The service can't be beat. But tonight - wow! Pork Veloute, a new menu item. One of the best meals I've had in years! It was a new dish on the menu and we ate every bite. My husband ordered his with the mustard cream sauce I had mine on the side. It was quite delicious. We spoke with our waitress about this dish after cleaning our plates, and she told us how the chef really likes to creative with his cooking. Which is something I love. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend this little gem for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. P.S. Used to be a great place but has gone downhill. Went with family and friends after a long day at cedar point. The waitress made several mistakes and the burgers were big time raw and took 45 min to remake with nobody in the restaurant. They did take them off the bill as they should've. Stopped in for lunch on a weekend after kayaking. Pleasant service, tasty food, reasonable prices. I went with a berry salad $10.99 which was on special. My friend did the fish tacos. My salad was big and delicious especially after adding some feta $1.25 to the berries and chicken (spiced or glazed nuts would go great with this as well). My friend liked their tacos, but not so sure the raw veggies they got as a side were a hit. It's a bit dark inside and there are high wooden separators between tables because of Covid. We were able to find a nice two person spot in front of a window overlooking the patio. All in all I recommend The Pavilion Grill and would love to try them out again next time I am in Vermilion (mmm French Dip burger? Heck yes!) Only downside would be that they charge a 3.5% credit card surcharge fee/convenience fee if you don't pay with cash which we weren't aware of until we got our bill. However, if you have a debit card it must be treated as cash and a business cannot charge you the surcharge fee otherwise they are violating their agreements with MasterCard and Visa. This issue was taken care of once I pointed it out and was told that management would review and see how to change the automatic charge. read more

Yes! We loved our lunch there. I had the brussel sprouts appetizer for lunch. They were the best I've ever had. For dessert I had the sticky brown butter cake - another win! So good! Husband had Philly and French onion soup. He also enjoyed his food. Service was friendly. We sat at the bar since all the two top tables were occupied. Try them out! We waited 45 minutes for our lunch after ordering. My shrimp taco was inedible. The shrimp was burned beyond recognition, it was cold, and the shell was so soggy it fell apart when I lifted it up. I probably should have submitted a review previously, but I neglected to do so. I saw a disturbing review today on the Vermilion Facebook feed. The guy, Charles Robertson gave a bad review on the Pavilion Grill. It was unfortunate and not accurate. Of all people, I know this place is quality in every sense of the word. I worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry for 30 years and I am a gourmet cook. I know good food. This food is very good. Fresh ingredients and manpower make the dollar amount a bit higher. These people don't use frozen and processed food or I would have never ventured there a second time. I have been there more than any restaurant in Vermilion. I won't name names but I have been to ALL the restaurants in Vermilion. The Pavilion Grill is my "go to." The general manager has incredible energy and everyone else has been phenomenal. It's quaint and cool........keep up the good work! read more
