Had an excellent dining experience here during a recent trip to Oberlin for a Frank Llyod Wright house tour. Place was not super-busy when I arrived, and the service was pleasant and prompt. I ordered a very reasonably priced beer and settled in as I awaited my burger and fries. They have a very extensive pub style menu, so there are options sure to satisfy just about everyone in your party. I ordered their brisket burger with a side of fries. When it arrived, I was blown away by the size! This brisket burger was pretty sloppy, but delicious...only knock was that the bun did not hold up well to all the toppings: beef patty, onion spread, bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, BBQ smoked brisket and a fried onion ring. It was however, cooked to a nice medium rare (just the way I like it). Also, the fresh cut fries were cooked just right and very crispy. Recently ordered carryout everything was on time. Bartender was friendly got food home onion rings were soggy and dripping with oil as if the fryer was too crowded and they just steamed and soaked up oil. The fish tacos were inedible. Unfortunately toss them in the trash. I should've known better. This is the second time I've had bad food on carryout. I will probably not order from there again. read more

Just meh! Hate that word, but it was what came to mind. Old building and smelled of it. Not sure why I keep picking these places with odd smells lately. Maybe it is me and not the place. hehe. Service was average at best. More interested in talking to each other than paying attention to the customers. For the only real place in Oberlin, I would have hoped for more. Great food! After driving by this place many times we decided to give it a try. They have two dining areas - bar side and dining room. The dining room you wait at the hostess stand and the bar side is first come first serve. There was a wait on the dining room side but we were able to sit at the bar and get served with no wait. The menu has many options and I asked the bartender for her suggestions. I decided on the Cajun shrimp pasta and my husband tried the brisket burger. The burger was huge - my husband couldn't even eat it all. The pasta was delicious. A little spice but not overpowering. It also had a appetizing presentation. After a terrible, exhausting day I only wanted to order a hamburger to go. This was a problem because: 1. Couldn't get the menus to come up to view so I could order. 2. When i tried to order on line there was no way to make substitutions. 3. When I called no one answered the phone 4. When I called again it seems the staff was having a good old time and ignoring customers. 5. When I tried to order a hamburger to go, I was disconnected 6. When I called again the employee was not ready to take the order and was making sarcastic comments about the fact that I was frustrated with this process. I hung up in disgust. Service is terrible, staff are out of control. The owner needs to address these concerns and probably fire the staff who are RUDE. This person has no idea what my day was like. If he knew I hope he would have been more considerate. He was truly RUDE and unkind. i will never darken your door or phone again. read more

Well we had a fantastic pizza. It was the special of the night. Brisket or pulled pork, BBQ sauce, red onion, banana peppers & and couple different kind of cheese. We were underwhelmed by the size for $22. But i don't mind paying for good food. I do mind paying more than $2 each for tiny little wings that were not really crispy or meaty. My friend had a huge salad that looked great and he wolfed it down. The white zin wine was delightful. The service was poor but I still tipped decent because I understand that people have to make a living but I really wanted to tip less than 20%. I have been coming to brickyard for two years and the quality of food is top notch. My wife enjoys the buffalo chicken wrap and I go for the burger. Today I had the special limited time picnic burger, it was amazing with so many flavors of burger, bacon , potato cake and summer slaw. Definitely a party in my mouth. had never heard of this place until I opened my DoorDash app and saw something new. I've been in Lagrange for four years and had never heard of this place. Tonight I ordered, and I am absolutely positively in love with this place. I ordered the appetizer sampler which had so much food that I had a very hard time finishing it all, but I tried really hard and ultimately failed. I didn't even get a chance to order my Cubano sandwich as I thought the sampler wasn't going to be worth it. If the Cubano isn't As good, I will be very surprised. This is my new favorite restaurant and will be ordering here on a regular basis. in order to make this a complete review, I decided to stop and take a sample of the sandwich. As expected, the sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. It was hard putting it down, but I did knowing that the next meal I have will be amazing. Every meal we have had at Brickyard has been fantastic! They are open on Sundays for lunch now. I had the pulled pork potato skins, yummy. Very nice crispy skins. We also had an order of the onion rings which were just like I like them. Crispy and the onion doesn't slide out and sliced to the correct thickness (in my opinion) my husband had the brisket grilled cheese which had wonderful layers of flavor including Apple butter and pickled onions. He absolutely raves about this sandwich. We didn't even get a pic. I only remembered to take pics of my food after it was half gone, but I promise you that the portions are huge and the food is excellent! read more

Waiter was great. Service was pretty quick. I ordered the 1/2 slab ribs. It was terrible. I had a hard time cutting them apart with a knife. There wasnt much meat & the little bit that was on the bones was so dry and partly burned it was like leather. I told the waiter and he said - oh sorry I will let them know. First off, compliments to the chef! Because wow! My husband is a MAJOR burger critic. It's his favorite food and he will travel to try burgers. The Brisket Burger made it to his top 5. He said it was so damn phenomenal, he even requested to speak to the chef. This man has had over a thousand burgers from all over the country, and this little restaurant just 4 minutes from our house left him completely speechless and amazed. It's a huge ass burger, and he ate it in less than 3 minutes. I got the sweet victory burger and it was sooooo delicious. We also got the voodoo bombs and while spicy, they were also really yummy. The fries were perfect. And even their teas were delicious, we got the banana and the blackberry. For the amount of food you get, it's priced right. I swear, the amount of fries they gave me was probably 5 potatoes. And the burgers are so damn big, you have to figure out how to even eat it they were cooked so perfectly too, very juicy and delicious. This place is such a good hidden gem and our new favorite spot. Food was outstanding! My husband and another couple decided to try a restaurant we've never been to twice a month. Their tater tots were outstanding as were the fried provolone. We would have been satisfied with just appetizers and drinks but we also ordered a meal. And that wasn't an easy decision. They have a lot of good things on their menu. We met here for a quick dinner before heading over to the stadium for a soccer game. First and foremost, the food was very good. We order the candied fried jalapeños, very good. We then shared the BBQ plate which had a sampling of a couple different things, very good, a little stingy on the sauce, but good. Here's my two complaints. One, at three different occasions I was convinced a fight was about to break out. A couple of drunk guys were very loud and obnoxious. Not a big deal but being 1st timers there made us a bit concerned not knowing what the hell was going on. Two, we had to share our food with the swarm of flies that we were constantly fighting off. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious & cooked fresh when ordered. Daily Specials & Burger-of-the-Month are always interesting options. Recommend trying any burger choice & homemade soup of the day & the fresh-cut fries. Great draught beer selection too! Service is ideal = quick & attentive. Our group of bad moms stopped for lunch after zip lining and what an amazing surprise! Morgan our server was more than helpful and kept our drinks filled and the drinks were on point and beers selection wonderful! We did shares and meals after we ordered the owner brought us homemade strawberry ice cream that he was making for his granddaughter fantastic!! One lucky girl who has a thoughtful grandpa when our food arrived the best burger I've had in a very long time! The haystacks, southwest wrap, brisket sandwich, jalapeño poppers, brisket hamburger and fries were the best meal in a restaurant for the weekend!! I wanted to like this place, and there were likeable things about it. We had the bbq potato skins, sweet victory burger, and the southwest chicken flatbread. We waited close to 20 minutes for the appetizer, which was delicious - crispy potato skins, cheesy and sweet from the bbq, but our food came out about 2 minutes after that. The victory burger has a great sauce and was cooked nicely, but the fries tasted like they'd been fried in old oil - a slight fishy aftertaste. We got the wrong flatbread to begin with and waited about another 10 minutes for that. Flavorful, but we were pretty full by that point! Clearly they need to work on timing and execution... we were there about 2pm with 3 other tables, I'd hate to see what it's like during dinner rush. read more

I don't know what place these one star reviewers went to, but it wasn't here. Clean, bright atmosphere, typical "bar" stuff on the walls. I had the burger of the month, medium rare. And it really was medium rare! I can't tell you how RARELY that happens (hurr) Nice selection of craft beer on the draft, too. I'd bring my wife here if we come out this way. My only complaint- and it's a minor one, because good food takes time- that it was about half an hour before I got my food. This was our second time here and the experience was better than the first, and that was excellent. Food is good, prices are fair for the portions you get, but the service is outstanding. Went over the 20% because she deserved it. We live in Norwalk, which doesn't have many dining out options. 250 is covered with orange barrels and slow moving traffic to Sandusky to eat out. So heading a half hour east on route 20 is worth it. Will happily go back and recommend it. read more

Ate there last night for the first time, got in later about 8:15 and sat outside. No waiting. Wait staff was very attentive. Just ate, no drinks, but I had the shrimp and grits plus shared a min appetizer of fish tacos. DELICIOUS!!!! The shrimp and grits was so awesome - cheesy, spicy - I cleaned the plate!! I ate here on a Friday night during lent, which means no meat for me. Reservations at 7PM. 12 people. Took our orders by 730ish. I ordered the arugula salad without bacon of course and added shrimp(9.99+3.99 shrimp) when the food came out at 830PM I received a salad with all Romain lettuce and bacon on it. Well since the waitress was no where around and I was hungry considering we waited an hour for food.... I ate my 5 pieces of grilled shrimp. When she came around I asked why my arugula salad was Romain. " we were out of arugula so they made it with Romain" unfortunately I don't eat Romain and ordered that salad for a reason. I also told her it had bacon on it as I ordered without she said "ughhh I told them to not put bacon on it" while she grabbed the plate and walked away. So I left $5 on the table and left my family (who were also upset with the wait and part of their orders) to go get something else to eat at 850pm. My sister told me they charged me $5.05 for my 3.99 shrimp wondering where $1.05 tax comes from. Let's just say this was my first time there ( my sister and her husband go atleast once a week) and it will be my last. Not to mention the bar ran out of pull tabs, told us they would refill it and never did the entire 2 plus hours my family was there. What a waste of my Friday night!!! read more
