Oh Paseo... I'm torn. I used to like this place, but it's become a location where retailers have been running away. The only places that keep this Paseo alive are the Arclight, which I truly love, and the various restaurants like Yard House, P.F. Chang's, Islands, Tokyo Wako, El Cholo Cafe, etc. The retail shops here are a mishmash of random stores. You'd have better luck and a much better time just going down the street to Old Town (the main area) for shopping. Equinox is also located here near the other parking structure. The parking is better now that there isn't designated spaces for the supermarket. The better parking situations is somewhat of an ironic blessing considering Macy's and Gelson's is no longer there. There is a fee for parking, but you can get validations from most, if not all, the retailers there. Just don't forget to ask for validation! I do hope that Paseo gets new and better retailers as this place is in dire need of something to pump it up. We'll see what happens in Paseo's future. read more

Hit or Miss... The stores I love: Bath & Body Works Fashion Q Gossip Starbucks Parking is free for two hours validation that you can get from Macy's. Woot. I like how pretty this place is. It's all outdoors and they have pretty fountains and during Christmas... a beautiful tree. The lights are beautiful. Happy Hours are great around here. I come here during lunch to get my Rubio's fix and then I just shop around Fashion Q and pass the massage guys (that are overpriced compared to SGV) and go have happy hour at Bodega. This has everything! :D Except it lost their Sephora and Mac... sigh :( They even have the chalk walk here every year. So pretty. I want to live in these apartments but they are so expensive. I love the stores and the area. This is a pretty place to chill before going to Old Town. I wish there were more stores I shop in tho... like H& M (old town), Victoria's Secret (Old town), Forever 21 (Old town), Urban Outfitters (old town)... because there is ACTUAL parking here. read more

The stores are bad, the layout is bad, parking here can be a pain, the list just goes on. No one is shopping here, it's a restaurant / movie theater destination. Every time I come, I see more and more stores closing. Parking should be free here. Even with validation, you're charged. I give it points for being outdoors though. read more

This place is getting sadder and sadder every time I visit. Usually, we dread going anywhere on the weekends. (Working from home will do that to you) Going to a mall on the weekend is my idea of a living nightmare. We had to go to Paseo because the boyfriend dropped and cracked his phone while we were in Seattle. Cosmo was the only place that could fix his Nexus. I was surprised to find several prime parking spots in the garage. When we got upstairs, it looked like a ghost town. We passed dozens of empty storefronts, including Gelson's! This is a huge bummer because we loved the cakes from Viktor Benes Bakery. I think the only thing Paseo has going for it is Arclight, at this point. read more

This review is for the parking garage. Whenever the convention center has events, this garage will deploy great traffic control to expedite the flow. Not fu@king today! The traffic was back up all the way to Marengo. I am glad I always leave the house early for idiots like these. I was yelling to the air saying WTF, have some sense, why the fu@k they blocked one lane. Totally created a scenes. I was about to drive over and knock down that wimpy stand and just cruise through the blocked lane and smacked my park card and go. Then those idiots showed up and lift the gate. All parking staffs always give us shit whenever our park card doesn't work, talk very rude and interrogate like we don't pay but to scam the garage. It took over months to get my parking card functions straight. And today is the last straw, from now on, I don't smile at your staff, I just look away or pretend I am on my phone and ignore any of your staffs. The wrath of air blowing towards your face while ascending at the escalator worth some mentions here: it smells like hot beer, some armpits and a tat of dry sweats. This garage is weird, there are always some well dressed homeless people sleeping around the benches outside the restroom or wandering around the mall. Such a great vibe. Ladies, please watch over your shoulders when you walk at the podium or when you are exiting the garage on foot. read more

I can't really say I'm much of a fan of the shops here.. Mainly because there's not any that I would honestly spend my money in. Yes, you have the arclight Pasadena here. That's perhaps the only glimmer of hope. Oh yeah, Yard House. But you're going to need that Yard House to drink away the fact that you're at Paseo shopping. That and you'll have to get a bit buzzed to numb yourself to the fact that you're going to be paying a fair amount when you leave the parking. Oh yeah, the parking. For some reason it may look like a simple lay out, it's pretty much a really bad system for parking and getting to the upstairs area. The place holds a lot of special interest events such as the sidewalk chalk event and now that you can see the convention center with city hall, it's as it was originally designed to be, but I have my issues with that whole area anyway. There used to be a mall that no one visited here. It was pretty large. I have to say, there's not much difference in terms of the foot traffic. It just looks a lot more bourgie these days. Oh yeah, and there's a Rubios and Island's. How special... It's also really cold here. All the time. I don't know how to explain it since we are in Southern California, but it's always cold in this wind tunnel of a location no matter if it's the dead of summer. There's also apartments above and I have to wonder, who the hell is attempting to live over this plot of urban shopping horror? I mean, why would you do that to yourself? It's a very strange place in that it's attractive for all the kids who can't enjoy what Old Town has to offer down the block, but it's still not kid friendly enough to give them much to do. It's the Prima Nevada to Las Vegas. You don't really want to go there, but you end up somehow there when you can't make it and you've screwed up big in Vegas. Pretty generic shopping plaza. Maybe it's the way it's laid out, but it didn't seem like there were that many stores. I like people around when I shop (not everyone does), so this place felt a little empty to me. The best thing about this place is the huge underground parking structure Unfortunately, it's really spread out, so finding your car can be an issue. Of note, when you park, you can get it validated at the main open square. You will see the signs of the bathroom. As you enter that hallway, on the wall in a little recess is the validation machine. It's really easy to miss. If you reach the escalators, you've already gone too far. You do NOT have to buy anything to get your parking validated. read more

Ahhh, the fond memories I have of days at Paseo Colorado. I have been to Paseo with just about everyone I know, and although it's not a hot spot to hang out in - with Old Town just a few blocks away and all - this place will always hold a special place in my heart. 1. First, GREAT selection of restaurants albeit P.F. Chang's. I just like to pretend it doesn't exist for my peace of mind. 2. Great architecture, especially the apartments located above the shopping. The decorated lights that light up during the night are also really cute and romantic, when you're taking a after-dinner stroll with a date or significant other. 3. Shopping selection isn't that great, but that's what Old Town is for. You want to shop? Drive down a few blocks. Paseo is more for couples, families, date nights, people watching movies and having dinner/dessert. 4. Nice movie theatre, although I've only watched a movie there once. It doesn't sound like much, but really, I have some very fond memories here with just about everyone I know, friends AND family. It's cute. read more

Paseo Colorado is within walking distance from Old Town Pasadena. It houses the Yard House, PF Chang, DWS, Rubio's, Brookstone, and some other stores. The retail options aren't the best here. MAC used to be here, but it moved to Old Town. Having said that, however, I frequent here for Arclight. It also holds art events every once in a while. read more

Paseo Colorado will forever be the ghost of Plaza Pasadena: the hulking 1980 indoor mall built in the name of "urban renewal" that obliterated three blocks of historic architecture, the view through the Civic Center, and pedestrian traffic on Colorado. As indoor malls fell out of favor, an attempt was made to correct the horrific error by taking the top off of the mall, restoring the Garfield Promenade, and opening up shops to the street. The parking structure and first floor of the mall are just an aggressive reskinning of the failed 1980 mall, which is why is feels so poorly planned and strangely laid out. Another 70 million dollar refurbishment is in the works because they just can't get this place to work. I believe that includes a desperately needed reconfiguration of the terrible parking garage. Better stores and restaurants are on their way in including West Elm, Great Maple, and a new H&M to replace the location that closed in old town. Eventually there will be a Hyatt on the site of the old Broadway/Macy's if they ever secure financing. Let's hope this helps bring this ghost back from the dead. read more

Located in the heart of downtown Pasadena, this 'mall' has the worst parking imaginable (perhaps it's because it's the time of year?) and a very small Macy's. There's a Harry and David, A Pea in the Pod and other free-standing stores in a semi-outdoor-style mall which suffices if you're bored and want somewhere to go. However, for serious shoppers, this ain't it! Brought something to the Macy's for a friend to be hemmed and was told that this location didn't do alterations. Oh well ... at least they give you 2 hours validated parking which certainly helps when it's $2 for the first hour and you've bought nothing. read more

The negatives have been already noted, terrible, terrible parking, nothing of great interest to shop at, etc. The positive, the Macy's is really laid out well and the staff pull it together well and helped me get what I needed. Ok, I just realized that I'm SO OLD (or maybe I just have a great memory of my childhood), I still have a cloudy and vague recollection of when Macy's was located across the street on the north side of Colorado, and also the day they moved into their current location, in what was then known as The Plaza Pasadena. Even though I was a toddler, I recall my mother taking us down for the moving sale, and her buying A LOT and teaching her small child how to become the shopaholic fashionista that I am today. And in the 80s, the Plaza Pasadena wasn't THAT bad. The stores were pretty good, I went annually for my Santa's photos, and the food court was always packed. Then one day, Old Town stopped looking like a fallout shelter, got repainted, and the Gap moved out of the mall, farther down the street. And all the other "good" stores followed suit. Soon the Pasadena Plaza became a ghost town, filled only with discount stores.... and then eventually the developers started flying overhead, circling and circling. I remember when the mall started getting torn down, brick by brick. Although I was curious to see what was next, it still made me cringe. I spent my childhood in that mall! Even if it was an ugly 1970s compound, it was still my mall! And I remember the final day they tore out the middle, where that ceiling mural of a Van Gogh knock off was located. It sat there for a few days, and I was supposed to take a picture of it but never got around to getting more film. Yes, I said film damn it. So here we are today with this peach iceberg that charges for parking. And what's up with the apartments that rent for more than most home mortgages?! This is supposed to be Pasadena dude, not the westside...grrrr!! With exception of Loehmans, MAC, DSW, and Cole Hahn, the rest of the shops leave much to be desired. But then again, maybe my own needs are met with shoes, make up, shoes, and purses. The one thing that remains the same: those CRAPPY elevators. Yes people, they were THAT BAD AND SLOW during the Plaza Pasadena era, and somehow the Paseo developers figured if they laid brick on the floor, no one would remember that they are the same old elevators. I guess when I am taking 1,000 years to get from P1 to 1, I have time to reminisce on the good ol days. read more

When this was first built it was pretty cool..now it looks like its going out of business all the time. I said just today that its only one step up from Panarama Mall, Not Good. The Macys here sucks..total crap..all the people in the make up counters need to be fired, management is nowhere to be found, its dark and looks messy with all subpar quality stuff. I would never pick this Macys for shopping... The Places to eat are all over priced chains... Sephora is gone... Clothing shops are equivalant to a swap meet.. DSW...not Loehmanns here sucked, now its gone... Good news is I got a new tempurpedic cloud pillow today from Brookstone, and room oils on sale from Bath and Body works..so that means 2 stars. read more

The Paseo is aesthetically pleasing, I mean, that's why they tore down the former Plaza Pasadena, right? I would never live in those apartments, too much money. I would also never shop at any of their stores, because they're too expensive. Wait, except for the Macys. The movie theater there, and the Yard House are the only 2 places I'll frequent. It's been said before; this is a dying mall. Many vacant shops now, a pedestrian antique store, and 2 major players gone. First Macy's and now Gelson's. I think people come here to buy their theater tickets at Arclight and then they have dinner before the movie starts and then maybe Ice Cream in the summer after the show. Other than, no reason to come here. And let's be honest-Pasadena is becoming brilliant at chasing favorite haunts out of town! I give this 1 more year. read more

This shopping area has the potential to be very nice. There are number of stores that are vacant. There are new stores coming in frequently. A lot of construction going on and at times can be noisy. I enjoy the concerts and events that they put on in the main area, and they are well attended. Once everything gets finished up this location has the potential to be a great place to people-watch. Parking is either on the street or a parking lot is located underneath the mall. The parking lot can sometimes be confusing, but hopefully they will work that out as stores get filled. All in all a great place to walk and window shop. read more

This review is for the parking management company. GET A CLUE! One of the machines ate my ticket and these jerks wanted me to pay the MAXIMUM. The "manager" said he would come over to check and he never did. Finally, I had to leave and the woman at the booth tried to charge me the full price. After I refused, she finally said that I was going to pay the special rate of $9.!!!!!! I had been there 30 minutes and I had a store validation!!!!! THIEVES!!!! Despite numerous calls, the so called "manager" did nothing. If this happens again, I'll park my arse there until I get charged the correct amount. read more

Paseo Colorado brings the traffic and parking hell of west LA to user-friendly Pasadena. The shops and restaurants are cookie-cutter Americana, and don't make me want to endure the stress of getting into the mall. That said, the movie theater is nice and huge, and would be the only aspect I would come back for. read more

I actually like this place despite the parking. That's because I've convinced myself that every time I come here, I need at least $7.00 for parking at a lot near an alleyway on one end of the mall. This was an interesting take on new urbanism. I think this was one of the first shopping centers laid out in this way (mixed-use downtown feel, along with all the foot and street traffic associated with it). There are a few homeless who call this place home, which show a contrast with some of the wealthier shoppers. I don't know about you, but seeing homeless people in shopping centers kills the mood to shop. Some of the street musicians are pretty entertaining though. But, if you overlook the homeless, like most people, this place can be a happening place, especially at night when more people are dressier and nightclubs and lounges open up. Some of the restaurants are unique and pretty good, although pricey. Eating al fresco is pretty cool, and most of the restaurants in this line have some form of outdoor dining. I can see it being a good place to take a date. I really like the diagonal crosswalks the city has installed. It reminds me of other scramble crosswalks in Asia and other big cities around the world. Some of the architecture on some of the buildings are nice in an Old World sort of way, an example would be the Tiffany's mid-way through the outdoor mall. There are a few chain stores intermixed with a few unique boutiques, so you can't really hate on it THAT much. I've never seen a movie here, but other Yelpers are saying that it's a selling point. I'll be sure to catch a flick next time I'm visiting. Kind of on a side note: I was never too sure if this was part of the Colorado Blvd. route that the Rose Parade took on New Year's Day and apparently, people I've asked have given me unclear answers. For those of you who recall what used to be here, this modern open air mall is eons ahead of the sad excuse of a shopping complex that used to be here. The mall was opened with great fanfare a few years back as the development that would revive the downtown Pasadena area. It has certainly done that by causing the construction of rows and rows of lofts in the downtown area. The Colorado area is now in a transient state of mid-puberty: a suburban neighborhood trying desperately to sprout the secondary characteristics of a mature downtown district. Baby steps, Colorado, baby steps. Don't get me wrong--I'm glad that the defunct "Plaza Pasadena" was finally torn down--but what we have now is not exactly 100% groundbreaking. For one, remnants of the old mall still remain. There are lots of reviews here that complain about the shitty parking. Well, that underground structure is freakin' ancient. It's the OLD parking lot of the OLD mall, which generated far less traffic than this modern Paseo of consumerism. The current Macy's was actually a dreary Macy's Outlet center. And before that, it was a Broadways before Macy's came over and did a mass massacre/monopolization of the department store business. Want to take a stroll with a boy/girl/high school friend, have dinner at an Americanized-whitewashed ethnic theme restaurant (a la Tokyo Wako and PF Changs) or see a movie? Paseo handles such social responsibilities with aplomb. But if you're looking to do some serious shopping, I'd go elsewhere to a larger mall that's designed more for shopping trips than for a city trying hard to define its identity. read more

I don't know why so many people are leaving bad reviews. I prefer this part of Pasadena to the crowded old town filled with tourists. Paseo has restaurants and the Archlight. I don't know what the complaint about parking is either, anywhere you go in Pasadena is 90 min with validation and anything after that you have to pay. read more

This is an outdoor mall on the strip of Colorado Blvd. I'm personally not too crazy about it because parking is a pain and the stores that are around there are either places I wouldn't typically go to, the arrangement of the stores that I would like to go to are far apart from each other, and it simply isn't that accessible to me. However, despite those things they do have nice stores there. My main store would be the MAC Cosmetics, which is what has me coming back in the first place as this is the only Pro, freestanding store around. They also have a bunch of good places to eat: Yard House, Islands, Tokyo Wako, and some sugary delights. There's a Macy's around, as well as a couple jewelers: Tiffany&Co being one of them. Parking is frustrating as it is difficult to be on street parking, which I think is on a meter. Parking in the underground lot offers validation, if not only about 1 hour is free, which is near impossible to do any shopping if you need to get to the other side (at least for me, anyways). So overall, I don't come here unless I need to go to the MAC store. Other than that, if it's like Macy's or Sephora, I can find another location that's more convenient. read more

Dog Owners Beware! For whatever reason, some restaurants with patios (Yard House and Islands) do not allow dogs directly on the patio. They have to be outside of the fence of the patio area. What's up with that? Eventually Islands gave in and allowed our small, 9 lb dog to be near our table and not outside. I am still very annoyed. There is no problem walking your dog around the mall but the restaurant situation is a major thumbs down. read more

Great one stop in Pasadena for basically anything you would need to spend an afternoon. Tons of restaurants ($$), plenty of shops ($$-$$$), and an ArcLight to enjoy in between everything else. And of course, coffee and ice cream. The parking can get expensive after a couple of hours without validation. And the parking lot itself can be infuriating. Look along the walls! Most people tend to cruise down the middle without venturing into the corners of the structure. read more

The shopping situation here is so dang dead. There is hardly any shopping stores. The restaurants and movie theater seem to be what keeps the Paseo alive. I hear the rent for the store space is quite expensive. I think they are having a hard time keeping the apartments full as well. I guess if you want a safe place to go for a walk, in Pasadena, this would be it. I usually go to the Arclight, but I will go to the Yard House, Islands, or Cold Stone sometimes. Arriving at the movie theatre is like climbing up a Mexican pyramid. My friend and I once tried to find a dress for her here. The clothes shopping sucks. This is more of a place to stroll after eating dinner somewhere nearby. Window shopping quality is just okay. read more

Yes I come here to go to Islands and maybe some other dining establishments but other than DSW upstairs there isn't much to see here. The Paseo is outdoors and they have an Arclight -- those are its two main selling points. None of the food options are particularly exciting (defnitely better to walk up to Old Town Pasadena, only a couple blocks away). Absolutely horrible parking situation during weekends- ever since they fenced off a huge portion of parking for residential parking. It's now impossible to find parking, and getting in and out of the facility takes forever. They don't have enough exit ramps in operation either. Will not consider coming here on Fri-Sun anymore. It's a journey, not a destination. Paseo Colorado is a nice little urban village that has a very sanitized and mass-market feel to it. There's a nice sprinkling of window dressing, but not a lot of shops to keep me interested. The dining scene feels chain-ish, but there is a nice selection, and the fact that there's plentiful (FREE with validation) parking helps a lot for lazy folk like me who don't want to battle with Old Town. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here when I'm in town, but the drive up the 110 or from the 134 does make it seem like you're escaping the mess called Downtown LA. read more

It's a great place to visit ; even better at night. It's in Pasadena, so travel in a group. It is essentially an outdoor mall filled with various gift shops and restaurants. There is also a movie theater. It used to be an AMC with an arcade, but now it's an Arclight (lame). This place used to be my go-to place whenever my buddies and I were bored of playing video games. We took the metrolink gold line to Memorial Park station and would walk the several blocks up to the Paseo. The walk itself is a nice experience because of the Old Town scenery. I recommend coming to this place after 3 and buying a movie ticket for a show at around 7. Then, you should walk around and shop ; perhaps visit one of their many novelty stands (filled with frozen popcorn, exotic spices, candied apples, newspaper bags, etc). Stop by one of their restaurants (there is sushi, modern mexican food, an Islands, and an American food / bar place). Finish off with some Cold stone and then start your movie! Come out after the movie and enjoy the city lights. It's really nice to come here with a date (if you have a car) or with a bunch of people (if you take the train). Highly recommend at least one visit during the evening. read more

Don't come to this place. I ate at maple great and when I left at 9 pm there were so much car in the garage that it took over 30 minutes to get out of there.
