The Burlington Arcade on South Lake
Dez T.

The best part of Pasadena is South Lake Ave! I love this area and all the little shops and restaurants on this street. Most of the businesses on this street are local hot spots too! I really enjoy the summer evenings when everyone is out walking and the parrots are being parrots in the trees along Lake Ave.I I enjoy the winter season when they have the Christmas lights along the streets on and the decorations up. Overall is a really nice part of Pasadena that has plenty of shops and restaurants.

**** Nice little shopping district in Pasadena **** The shops on the east side of South Lake Avenue are notable for being accessible from the street and from Shoppers' lane, a half-mile long alleyway that runs alongside Lake Avenue. Also located on Lake Avenue is a large Macy's department store built in early 1940s modern architecture. At the center of the neighborhood is Caltech, Grant Park, and Tournament Park. Many shops and restaurant can be found in South lake Avenue. Many franchise can be found here, it does lack sport bars, almost none exist here. Parking is easier than Old Town, many shop got its own private lot that can park for free. A lot of banks are located here, included some financial investment one. This area is great for single and couple. Also every Wednesday a smaller version of farmer marker is held here. Crime is lower than in old town, also is a lot less crowded compare as well. Housing nearby is a bit pricey, is not idea to raise family here, the public school system still terrible.

There are a number of stores, offices, and food establishments located in this beautiful building. It is worth walking in to see the incredible staircase. It is nice to take a look at the directory as you can see that there are a number of places that are worth window shopping or utilizing their special expertise. I have often used the tailor and enjoyed a cup of coffee with one of their small tables located in The colonnade. A couple of other stores I have made use of are the salons. The Strength Shoppe is a one-on-one workout studio with excellent, knowledgeable staff. The last time I was there I noticed a number of new opportunities for a discerning shopper. While you can enter from the South Lake Avenue entrance you can also enter from the Shoppers Lane entrance. There are some outside patio tables available for enjoying the weather. Parking is convenient if you use the South Lake Avenue Parking Area alongside Shoppers Lane. When you park here READ THE SIGNS CAREFULLY. Follow the instructions carefully. These lots are monitored constantly. There are times during the day and evening when there is free parking. Never assume that you have a short time to park for free! I look forward to coming back periodically and enjoying the opportunities for good food and conversation at this location.

Some prompts from Google indicate that it is a larger area than it actually is. It is the original Bullock's department store in Pasadena. It has great historical and architectural significance. This area was developed to be a leisurely place to enjoy community, shopping, food. It was a new concept design specifically for this area. It is a walkable and enjoyable experience to shop and eat in this area. Now that it is Macy's they have continued to develop small boutique stores located alongside the lower edge of the building along Lake. Some of the small boutique stores have changed. The new stores have become very popular. Foundation stores like Trader Joe's and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf keep bringing in new customers. It is important to check opening hours for the different stores as they vary from store to store. Parking is available in the Macy's parking lot adjacent. I believe it's 3 hours parking but double check always the printed signs. The last time I walked by the area I was impressed at the generational diversity. Nice to realize that some of the historic influences of the past are being carried on by a new generation. When visiting this is a great place to consider. It gives you a good foundation for understanding how Pasadena developed its friendly atmosphere. Look forward to coming back often!

I remember WAY back in the day when PMX used to be here and that was my experience going around the Paseo, but I guess nowadays, the only reason I'd be here is due to Cat Con or if I ever wanted to, Anime Pasadena. I was a little confused because I took an elevator which spat me outside when I thought this was an indoor mall. It turns out that some stores are outside, while the majority are inside. If you're looking for somewhere to go in the middle of a heatwave in LA, this place has amazing AC. At one point I was even rubbing my arms because it was so cold inside. I'm a sucker for anything cute, so I was glad there were so many Japanese stores that reminded me of my trip to Tokyo. A couple of the stores even had the rows of vending machines that drop out capsules with various items inside. It was disappointing to see one of the stores had a broken token machine, so you couldn't use the vending machines even if you wanted to. Both the stores and restaurants are a mix of reasonably priced to expensive. If you go to one of the actual restaurants instead of one of the fast food places at the food court, I'd recommend making reservations since the one I went to is notorious for having long lines. Both at the store and the restaurant I went to, the employees greeted me and were friendly, asking if I'd want any help or letting me know about discounts they had that day. All malls are pretty much the same, so I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit this one, but if you're in the area, need somewhere to hide from the heat, the free AC and parking here are definitely a draw.

But most surprising of all was finding a whole 99 Ranch inside the mall. After dinner, we did some shopping here. Later at night, I came back here to play some games in Dave & Buster's. But the signs can improve a bit for better direction. I was so confused how to get to the parking near D&B entrance. Also, the parking garage seemed under maintained.
