The Commons is a beautiful spot to spend time in Pasadena, especially with the new courtyard! The atmosphere is charming and there's so many great dining options - like Uovo and Sugarfish - to choose from. My favorite way to spend a weekend? Grab a cup of coffee from Philz, get a relaxing treatment at Facile, and do a little shopping at William Sonoma or the occasional Creative Communal market. Highly recommend this area!

In Pasadena, a charming city, this complex of stores and restaurants is a nice place to go eat, hang out friends with a good coffee. There are expensive and affordable places. It is really chill. Enjoy this Summer.

I've had my office at the Commons for 19 years, so I've questioned some of their architectural choices in the past like the Mediterranean Fountain in the English tutor courtyard. But Most have been big improvements. However the new Sugarfish storefront is appallingly ugly in this setting! Their food really needs to be amazing to make up for the eyesore that they've created in my courtyard!

Such a gem of a property! Best retail and dining with the cutest courtyard and public wifi so you can work while having lunch.

We also visited Pet Food Express where we were able to pet a cute Corgi and visited the Macy nearby. I parked in the parking lot behind Nick's and depending when you go, you might have to pay or it will be free. Since I parked my car after 7pm on a Wednesday, it's free. I wasn't sure at first and tried paying at the parking machine and also through the mobile app but it wasn't working. It wasn't until I walked inside Pet Food Express and the worker let me know they stop enforcing the parking time limit after 5pm on weekdays.

Anyway, I was at Susie's Cakes and happened to park in the back parking lot because there were no street parking available. Tons of parking in the back. You wouldn't think there are plenty of parking from the main street. There are pay parking stations. Please read the signs. Certain time limits are free. To me that's service from the city of Pasadena. Thank you!!! Otherwise, you'll have to pay for parking. Cost shouldn't be too bad though. There are actually a few blocks of shops and eateries that pertain to South Lake Avenue. Selections are fantastic. I haven't visited all of them. Here are a few mentionables... Susie's Cakes, Randy's Donuts, El Mendocino, Panda Express, and many more. Park close to where you'll be dining, shopping, and playing. Happy Shopping and Dining!!!

At first I was charmed by the concept of this character-filled plaza, which holds some shops,…read moreservices like a hair salon, and restaurants. It's very visually appealing from the parking lot side, which holds a a store called 3/4 Moon, and El Portal Restaurant. Walking through to the Colorado Blvd. side, after we finished dinner at El Portal, was a mixed bag, though. There's still a lot of brick texture, and nooks and crannies for visual and architectural interest. There is also a lot of missed potential, I believe. If it were mine to market, I'd bring in containers with a variety of trees, bushes, and flowers to soften and enliven the space. Making it more of a garden vibe would increase the appeal of strolling through the corridor and checking out the various businesses inside. I noted a yarn shop and a dance-themed business. Not sure if it was just for clothing, or if it was a studio. The parking lot entrance is off Green Street. Valet parking with validation was available when we went in the 4:00 hour on Sunday afternoon. El Portal validated the first hour. We paid $3.00 for staying into a second hour. It's the kind of location where you probably wouldn't feel encouraged to wander unless you were already going there specifically for one of the businesses. Having to pay for parking solidifies my thoughts in that regard.
