Fast, clean, quality work at a reasonable price. Wish we had discovered him earlier. We'll be using him again!

Reader beware, they remove bad reviews and that's why you see 5 stars across the board. The only 1 star you see is someone who says they didn't show so they've let it be but I imagine quality isn't what the 5 stars alleges either. Long story short because I don't have the energy to recreate the review that was previously published and then deleted...they no-showed multiple times for bids, finally came and have a large minimum ($6K I believe) and won't even provide an itemized bid, nor an actual written bid for that matter, so you can pick and choose to get to their minimum. read more

Virgil is truly The Paint Hero! I did my research and searched multiple different painters in the East Valley area as I needed to do a paint project in my house. When I first contacted Virgil, he was very professional and knowledgeable in his field. I told him which areas of the house I would like to be painted (room walls, family, and living room walls). He was genuine and honest with his rates, which I believed was reasonable. He was very considerate with time and acknowledged the timeline in completing the painting project. What I appreciate about Virgil the most was his punctuality. He was always on time to start on the painting project and he was able to finish the painting project in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Virgil to anyone. Thank you for your excellent service Virgil! read more

Our 46 year old house has been painted many times in the 30 years we've lived here. It wasn't until Virgil, The Paint Hero, completed the task that it was finally done right. It took 7+ weeks of daily labor to bring the shabby to beautiful and we couldn't be happier. In a few months we'll do it again with the upstairs rooms. Virgil and his brother Jeff are skilled craftsmen. With good humor and energy they arrived every morning at 7:30 and worked until 4:30. Everyday, no problems, excuses or no-shows, on time everyday. Removed existing and Installed gorgeous new baseboards, door and window trims, which not only require precise measurements, cutting, fitting and installation but also detailed hand sanding to insure beautiful smooth connections and finish, before painting. Every room was sanded including the kitchen cabinets and drawers which were very thick with old paint. The knob holes repaired and new hinges and pulls installed. Sanding, prepping, filling dents and damaged spots on walls so everything smooth and perfect, before painting. They helped with paint and design decisions and even backed me up when I needed to 'push' other workers in the house to get their own work done correctly. Their support and high-fives were much appreciated. Job included: Large entryway with upstairs hall and linen closet & cabinets. LR, DR, Kitchen with pantry including replacing pantry shelves and repairing old plumbers' wall holes in pantry. Powder R, bedroom, replaced drywall and two large air vents, 16 doors including double exterior doors, weather stripping, handicap bar, door knobs, remove and install large bathroom mirror. Jeff fine sanded the cabinet doors almost to their original finish, smooth like new. The original 1970's brass fireplace cover was dingy and scratched. Virgil removed sanded and painted it (several layers) a sleek sharp black, which looks great against the white brick fireplace. Virgil is not a "spray and go" painter, those guys are everywhere. If you want a true craftsman and diligent professional who can give you beautiful long lasting results, call The Paint Hero. Be patient with the time necessary to achieve the perfect results, this is a true professional who won't disappoint you. Lastly, Virgil and Jeff are so kind and helpful. Their friendly, joyful personalities were a welcome part of our family, they were adored by our mini daushunds and chihuahua who ran to greet them everyday. read more

Watch out Clark Kent, you've got some competition from The Paint Hero! If you have rooms that need to be rescued, help has arrived. Virgil is AMAZING and is a true hero. He rescued two rooms that were terribly painted. He was methodical, professional and a great communicator about what should be done . The two rooms he did look amazing now! It was a top quality job and the rooms are bright and airy. Additionally, Virgil is an overall awesome guy! He's got a great sense of humor and my dogs loved him!! Call this super hero ! You'll be glad you did. Thanks again Virgil! read more

If you want a painter who is meticulous and takes pride in their work, Virgil is the painter for you. I was looking for someone to paint an outside cinder block wall after the completion of our pool. I was reluctant to use the "The Paint Hero" at first as pricing was a bit higher than other bids we received. We ended up going with Virgil and couldn't be any happier. He arrived on time, used quality product, cleaned up after himself and even followed up a day after job was completed. He painted our garage door and it look great, I have other owners in my association coming up to me wanting to know who did the work. Painting a garage door can be tricky as it requires certain paint and attention to detail. He took the time to research the paint he was going to use, plus lubricated in between the panels as to avoid any "sticking" damage to the door. Virgil runs a one-man shop, so booking him can be tough, but it's definitely worth the wait. His attention to detail is second to none! read more

Virgil came in to fix our walls, he sanded them down from a disgusting 80's textured wall, and made them exactly what I wanted. He didn't just sand them down, he was GRINDING! This man is one of the friendliest people you will ever get the pleasure of meeting. Such a great family guy. He does his work with a passion and makes sure the job is well done. If you want excellence, you e got it with the paint hero. Thanks Virgil! read more

Virgil and his brother Jeff both have a passion for painting. I have hired him in the past, and needed more work done, so of course he was my first call. He is very detail oriented and does an absolutely amazing job. We have hired him for basically our entire house. Our front door, some walls, 3 bedrooms, our railing and we have more projects for him in the future. We wanted our white railing stripped and stained to a dark brown. Well... things didn't go as planned. But "The Paint Hero" came to the rescue! They came up with alternative options of essentially painting it, and his brother Jeff did the decorative painting to make it appear like wood. So esthetically it has the exact same look as what I wanted. And no one can even tell that it's paint and not stain! His pricing is very competitive, so he can get booked up fast! Hire the paint hero, you won't regret it! read more

Couldn't be more delighted with our choice to hire Virgil, The Paint Hero, for our exterior house painting. He offered great advice as we dialed in our color choices, and his expertise and pride in his work shone through every aspect of the job, from prep to finish. Virgil is punctual, hard-working, and good natured. If you are considering hiring a painter, I'd encourage you to give him a call. (We're already thinking of future projects for him!!) read more

In addition to being kind and professional, Virgil is genuinely passionate about what he does and it shows in the quality of his work! Unlike other painters whose quote visits were very perfunctory and brief and left me with in a nebulous haze, he spent his time with me to help me make the best decisions. I had recently purchased a house and the existing color points in the bedroom were more beige-brown tones. I wanted to brighten the rooms and my favorite color is gray. He was more than happy to review swatches for me in different rooms and this was tremendously helpful. He has a good eye for color pairings too and helped me pick the perfect shade of neutral gray that would fit the existing structures (bathroom flooring and cabinets). He even fixed areas where the trim separated and needed to be filled, patched wall defects left by prior owners. He works hard and with meticulous attention to detail. He also did not damage anything and cleaned up after himself, helped dispose of unwanted wall mounts and window fixtures that came with the house and brought in heavy packages for me. Virgil goes above and beyond! While others quoted doing the job for less and in one day with three painters, he took his time and did it all by himself so he could be sure the job was done right. It still took less than a week to do three rooms and two bathrooms (all walls and ceilings and even the cabinets and built-ins). I could not be happier to see the new life he breathed into all these rooms! He is worth the extra money and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to love their home and Updated review 9/1/18 Hired the paint hero Virgil again to do my kitchen walls and he did not disappoint! Finished in timely fashion and with impeccable quality. He is a very trustworthy individual and I trust him completely! When someone has access to your house, that kind of peace of mind is priceless. It's not any wonder why he has such loyal customers! Would recommend to anyone read more

We started working with Virgil a while ago. He surely is a real professional at what he does. Is a really great experience having him working in your home. This is one of the guys who will walk the extra mile to finish the job flawlessly. He painted our beaten up wood front door and after he was done it looked like brand new. He is coming next week to do another job (this rain in the past weeks has been a pain in the behind for some of us) and we can't wait to seeing him taking care of the problem. His prices are very reasonable, you won't be disappointed with Virgil. read more

Our painted house is PERFECT & FLAWLESS, we can't thank Virgil enough for such a nicely done interior work, he delivered everything he has promised, his quote was reasonable, lead time maybe longer than other painter, because he spends a lot of time prepping before he paints. He is very knowledgeable, honest, on time, clean & most important he only uses the best quality product on your house. Is well worth the wait because it is very hard to find someone who know how to do things right! We already booked him to paint the exterior of the house. Virgil! YOU ROCK!!!! read more

What can I say about Virgil that hasn't already been said? Not much. He does top notch work, keeps the job site clean, and keeps his promises. I hired Virgil to remove popcorn ceilings in our old house and repaint them. Luckily we had not moved in yet so he didn't have to work around our stuff with such a messy job. The outcome was better than I expected and the ceilings look great. I will *definately* be hiring Virgil the Paint Hero again and have already referred him to a friend! read more

Virgil is amazing! Our home is roughy 2300 square feet and when purchased looked like it was time warped from the 60's. Let me just say that I thought ripping the wood paneling off the walls, sanding down the crazy cork board and taking down the wall paper plus painting the trim and cabinets was going to cost me a fortune. Virgil was incredibly fair with his pricing. You will see people call him an artist and that's because he doesn't just slap paint on, he fixes things the molding and fills things in so they look perfect. If it wasn't for Virgil I would have never known there were termite eating away at my walls. He instantly became a part of our family. He is trustworthy and really cares about the work he does. I would recommend him 100%. You won't regret it! read more

These 5-star ratings are no joke! Background: My mom and I were on a time crunch when it came to finding someone to do the exterior paint for our house. When we saw the monumental amount of astonishing reviews that The Paint Hero had, my mom and I knew that Virgil was the guy we NEEDED to hire for the job. However, I was a little bit nervous, at first, because of the fact that Virgil is in high demand by various customers. I saw some reviews relating to how he was not able to call back certain people because of how busy he was. With that factor lingering around in my head, I made sure to leave Virgil a voicemail alongside with around 10 text messages. What can I say? We were desperate for a painter that had an abundant amount of knowledge in this certain field. Furthermore, I was very ecstatic when Virgil was able to give me a call back regarding when he would be able to come by for an estimate. The Paint Hero strongly defines the saying, "Things of quality have no fear of time." My family and I HIGHLY appreciated how Virgil never rushed his work. He is a very meticulous and diligent painter! Not to mention, he did an extraordinary job when it came to picking out the colors for our house! He made sure to GRIND away any old paint rather than sanding it away. Although this process took quite a bit of time, the outcome of the paint was very smooth and flawless! He always made sure to leave the workplace clean and organized. My family and I cannot stop raving about his astonishing work. Moreover, we have received many compliments from family members, friends, and even the installer of our new patio cover! Overall, Virgil is highly passionate about what he does. He strives in making his customers happy and satisfied. He treated our house as if it was his; therefore, he did not take any shortcuts when it came to his work. My dad is VERY picky when it comes to who we hire for home renovations however, he was HIGHLY fond of Virgil and was extremely happy with the outcome of Virgil's work. In all honesty, we started to consider him "family" mid-way through the painting process. Virgil is very professional, but also has the kindest heart! In addition, he is the type of person that has the ability to make everyone laugh! I would be lying if I said that my family and I don't miss seeing him every day. My family and I would not think twice about hiring him again for any paint jobs in the future! read more

We have used Virgil on multiple rooms in our house. He is reliable, clean, and does an excellent job. Highly recommend!

Virgil is the best! We have used him twice over the past 25 years that we have been in our home and currently have him here giving our entire inside a facelift! He was referred by a neighbor, who also used his services and was very happy. Wouldn't use anyone else! He is very meticulous, reasonably priced, reliable, clean, friendly and most importantly, honest! See all of those red stars? There is a reason for it! He is very professional and knows his trade! Very helpful when choosing colors. He is a perfectionist and does an excellent job cutting in the walls to the ceiling. He sometimes has his brother, who specializes in special effects, help him. This time, we are going to have him do an ombre effect behind the bed. Can't wait to see the end result! I can't say enough about Virgil! Give him an opportunity, and I promise you will not be disappointed! read more

Virgil is the best! I wouldn't have anyone else paint my house. I'm a perfectionist and have always done my own painting because I want it done right. It's no fun living with a paint job that you paid good money for - just knowing that you could've done a better job yourself. But alas, I'm older now and have a knee that said "It's time to hire someone!" So I hired Virgil on a very strong recommendation from a friend (who knows how particular I can be). Virgil is a true professional and I dare say he's a fellow perfectionist as well. I can sum it all up by saying "He painted my house as if it were his own; with pride and purpose." I highly recommend him to anyone who cares about the job being done right. read more

My wife found Virgil on Yelp because of his reviews and his location, and I must say he truly delivered on his services. I've been around a lot of painters & construction workers, and Virgil is honest and knows his stuff. He prides himself in his work, and his work definitely shows. He'll tell you if you want it done fast, he's not your guy. But if you want it done right, then he is definitely your guy. His quote was very reasonable and his timeline was spot on. He is also very punctual. When you ask him to show up at 7am, he's at your door at exactly 7am. Takes a short break in the middle of the day, and continues to work hard & diligently throughout the entire day. When I asked to have another wall painted, since he had the extra paint to do it, he had no problem adding the extra work onto the rest of it and the small extra cost to have the work done was well worth it. He was able to take our bathroom and really clean it up with fixing a lot of past issues by patching some areas, applying texture to areas on the wall so that it all blends in, and then painting the ceiling, walls, and base boards. His cutting skills around tight areas is very clean, along with his straight lines along edges. His painting skills really show. He also painted a couple of large living room walls for us, and also patched, textured, and painted the area behind our old thermostat so I could freshen up the living room with a new Nest thermostat. We also had him paint our dining room, and paint the base boards in there and our living room, and now our house looks like a new home. We used to have flat painted walls in our living room and dining room, and per his recommendation to go with an eggshell finish so that it's very easy to keep clean with kids' hand prints on the wall, we were very glad we went with that. It doesn't looks shiny like the bathroom or kitchen looks with semi-gloss, but it also doesn't look dull like the old flat paint did. Now our walls pop more and the clean paint job that Virgil did really stands out and shows. I would highly recommend Virgil for your painting needs, as he knows what he's doing and does the job right. If you need an entire house painted, he can do it but again he's a one-man crew so it'll take awhile as he takes time to do his paintings right. If you want it done fast and cheap, look elsewhere. If you have small projects that need to be done, like a bathroom here, or bedroom there, or a living room wall because your kids made a mess on it and you can't get your old paint to match correctly, Virgil is your man to get the job done and at a reasonable rate. read more

Excellent work!!!! He painted my grandmothers house and mine and it all looks great!!! Definitely going to find some more work for him!!!

This guy may be a great painter, do a great job, and be reasonable with his pricing....but I wouldn't know because he didn't even bother to give me a call back. I called him every day for almost a week, left him a voicemail, and even shot him a text because I figured the number he uses was a cell phone. I didn't get one response. Hired Virgil last minute because I needed my front door painted. He showed up early, got the work done in a quick and timely manner. His pricing is exceptionally reasonable. His work is remarkable! I am completely renovating my garage a la gurlie industrial! I am super fussy and wanted the job done right (perfect) the first time. After researching very carefully, receiving a few estimates, and taking careful consideration from what others said about Virgil and his bro, Jeff, here on Yelp, they were hired. This was a difficult job in my opinion the vaulted ceiling of plywood had to be primered and then painted through various pipes, wiring, around the heater, behind the washer and dryer, the works! The rafters I wanted clean, sanded to a very natural state; done! Beautiful! I appreciated Virgil's guidance in color-choice, an important match to cabinets I am having built; he delivered. Like many have said, where others didn't discuss anything in the initial consult, Virgil got it that this "garage-project" was super important to me, asked me questions, got the color concept, my style down. He, and Jeff, came to work on my house on time, with their tools, supplies and care for my house; all things important to me. I take forever on my projects, but when painting comes around again at my house, and it will, I will contact Virgil and Jeff. read more
