    Inside the Paddy Wagon!
    Bill M.

My wife and I decided to have a combined 50th birthday party and called on The Paddy Wagon to make it unique. Let me just say that it was top notch from start to finish. We got the smaller pub of the two offerings, but it was plenty spacious to accommodate everyone at the party flowing in and out of the pub, and we had over 75 people. From the very get go, we dealt with Pamela who was attentive to every detail. She was able to guide us to the size of the Pub, the beverages they would be offering, any specialty foods we were looking for, and hooked us up with an excellent Irish band to play at the event as well. The pub was set up by two gentlemen the day of the party and they put up this behemoth in such short fashion me and a small group of friends watched in astonishment at how quickly it went up (Guinness in hand mind you). Cool touches like Oak barrels for resting you pint on, or have appetizer trays laid out on gave the Pub an air of authenticity as well. They also set up a keg of Guinness that was expertly poured by our very courteous and efficient bartender. He was knowledgeable and to a person was complemented on the quality of his service and drinks. The day after the party was over, the pub was taken down as quickly as it was put up and the yard was left clean as a tin whistle. I can't say enough good about the experience we had with this company. They answered every question we had quickly, and went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. I will guarantee that if you have The Paddy Wagon Pub at your event, you will be the talk of your guests for days and weeks to come, and everyone will have a unique and wonderful time.

She was able to find us a table after a short wait at the bar. By the way, at the bar I had the best Guinness I have had in a while - a great pour. Once we sat down, Rachel was right there to welcome us and get us started. This exceptional level of service from her continued throughout the evening. We started with the sharing platter and each item was fantastic. Everything was hot and delicious. Of particular note were the pigs in blankets - the sausage is fantastic. The only disappointment was that it came with one scotch egg instead of two. For supper, two of us ordered shepherds pie, one Guinness pie, one Guinness stew and one Fish & Chips. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Great flavor/seasoning, good portions and perfectly cooked beef and fish. We continued to enjoy the Guinness and Smithwick's on tap until the end of the meal when got a round of Irish Coffee which was delicious. Rachel was spot on with her service and attitude and even engaged in a conversation with us about our next trip to Ireland and she reinforced our desire to go the north of Ireland including Donegal where she is from. At some point my wife told Rachel that it was my birthday and that I am not a cake person. Rachel managed to get the kitchen to make a personal size apple crumble which was scrumptious and happens to be a favority of mine. In fact my wife commented after that she would have ordered it but it was not on the menu as a dessert. Another example of Rachel going above and beyond the call to ensure we had a great experience. And we did. Thank you to Rachel and all the staff and chefs for a briliant evening. I can't wait to go back!!

I had the Beef & Guinness Pie with the sides of carrots and mashed potatoes and an extra side of broccoli. Great comfort dish along a side of a draft beer. It's homely, welcoming, and I feel included. Last went here during the Red Bull Heavy Metal event that was happening at City Hall. Place was packed. We had the best Irish coffees and were able to get a table despite the crowd. I love the attention to detail this place puts regarding its decorative wood around the bar, the lighting, life music, and more. Great place to have a drink. Yes, I think the food could improve a bit - maybe some nice club sandwiches or vary the food offerings, but overall love this place.

We kept trying to make eye contact, but it didn't work~eventually we had to wave someone down. Even then, the response from the bar felt like it was an inconvenience just to send our server over. That said, the food was mostly good. The bangers & mash and the burger were spot on. However, the "Taste of Ireland" pies were disappointing~2 in particular missed the mark. The shepherd's pie had no mince (just potatoes and peas), & the Guinness pie was more like a beef stew than a proper pie. Overall, some strong dishes, but the service and a few key items would make me hesitate to return.

The real establishment is the historic Bull & Finch Pub, which served as the inspiration for the exterior shots used in Cheers. Inside, the walls are filled with memorabilia ranging from cast photos to Boston sports history, giving the entire place a nostalgic atmosphere that fans of the show will immediately appreciate. It feels less like stepping onto a television set and more like stepping into a small piece of Boston pop-culture history. The food and drinks were solid, but the experience itself is really the reason to visit. If you find yourself in the greater Boston area, it's absolutely worth stopping by -- if only to say you had a drink where "everybody knows your name." .

We went down the stairs and inside. No one yelled Norm at us! Even though this is a major tourist trap - the food was fine. I knew my wife wouldn't finish a sandwich so we decided to split Sam's turkey sandwich and a bowl of the Boston clam chowda. They brought us the half sandwich and fries on two different plates, which was nice. It was nice fresh bread and the sandwich was real tasty. And I hadn't had New England clam chowder in a while - which I guess they call Boston clam chowder now - but it was great. Lots of chunks of clams and potatoes and we mashed up the oyster crackers and put them in there. My wife also ordered the Lilith Pan Asian salad with oranges and noodles - it was good but we really didn't need it. I ordered it the Bull and Finch IPA - I figure if they have a signature beer I'm gonna give it a try. It was satisfying for sure. There's lots of memorabilia around the place from Boston and the Cheers show. I only took one picture of that because I didn't want to be a pain to the customers that were there! Suffice it to say that, despite it being a tourist trap and a tad more pricey because of that - the Bull & Finch pub is a great place to go and eat and drink for lunch or dinner. Check it out!
