I'm really disappointed with this salon, especially because I've been going for the last few months and my most recent visit will absolutely be my last. Ive always experienced very minor mistakes on my nails which I could easily fix at home and they were no big deal in the grand scheme of things. This last visit, I was in a hurry because I had a family event so I didn't have time to stay to get the damage corrected, in fact I didn't even realize what had been done until I left and took a minute to look at my nails. I had my nails at about 1/4" above the nail bed, so not extremely long but still long enough to shape without any major problems. Ive don't it myself plenty of times. I asked the manicurist to try to shape them in coffin form but it's ok if she couldn't. When she was cutting the edges with nail clippers, she somehow managed to grab a chunk of my finger in the clippers and didn't let up until I yelped from the pain. Later after the dip was applied, she started shaping the nails and filed down the edges so much that my nails are basically gone. There were moments when she was trying to separate the already hardened dip from my skin so she jammed her nails between my nails and nail beds. It's been 2 days and my fingers are still in so much pain I can barely use my hands. The shapes are so insanely uneven that it wasn't even worth the injuries. The customer service was good but the mail tech was not. I requested a gel manicure and the results were very disappointing. The polish was applied very thick so it did not look natural or attractive. The tech ended up filing off layered of the polish after I complained. The result was better but it still was not attractive. I wanted nice nails for a special occasion but I thought my nails looked like they were polished by an amateur. read more

THE ONE NAIL BAR IS NOT THE NUMBER ONE NAIL BAR. This afternoon I had a mani and pedi at the One Nail Bar. The pedicure was fine but my dip manicure is a total disappointment. I selected a color to match a dress that I will be wearing to my daughter's wedding.. I showed the photo of the dress to the manicurist and asked if the color I selected for the dip manicure would be close to the color of the dress and she agreed that it would. When she applied the color to the very first nail, I told her that the color looked very dark brown and not purple--similar to the sample-- at all. She insisted that when the process was completed the color would match the sample. IT DID NOT. When the manicure was complete, I continued to make the point that the color of my nails was not close to what appeared on the sample. The manicurist suggested that my skin color or nail shape could influence the color. I expressed my displeasure to the manager who shrugged off my complaint. Three hours before closing I was the only customer in the salon and yet there was no offer, suggestion, or willingness to change the color which seems contrary to the policy on their website which reads (this is copied verbatim), "At The one Nail Bar, your satifaction is our top priority. Please notify us as soon as possible if there is any unsatisfied service that may occure during your visit." So, what do they do if a customer is dissatisfied? Nothing was offered or exercised to remedy my dissatisfaction. My suggestion? This place is okay for a pedicure because you can hide your feet in your shoes but if you care about the appearance of your hands, go somewhere else. read more

I have been coming to this nail salon for over a year and have had a great experience each time. My tech who usually does my gel fill-ins and pedicures is very attentive, kind, and talented. She also gives a great eyebrow wax. The salon has many comfortable pedicure loungers, plenty of manicure stations and even offers wine. They are accomodating for families and my boyfriend has enjoyed the men's pedicure service. Every time I leave the salon I am constantly complimented on how great my nail color is and the workmanship of my coffin shaped acrylics. I do not hesistate to recommend this nail bar to my friends or anyone who's looking for a better experience. read more

Thee worst experience ever the nail tech Khai (male with a mushroom cut me round glasses sits at the far end second to last) made me bleed on all of my cuticles and was overcharged I had ONE broken nail and got a gel fill in the website says it's 40 and I was charged 50 I gave him 60 (I'm a bartender so I just do not have it in me to not tip but they lost my business for life) but after I checked the website I was pissed I would've not given him 10 dollars if I knew the price for a gel fill in was 40 I've never had such a bad nail tech I live in the burnt mills hills neighborhood so I really wanted this to work and was excited to try this new nail shop out but I regret it tremendously I said before hand I like my nails very square and sharp and the top very straight and flat and I'm very into my nails being thin not lumpy I do not like a lot of powder and again I want my nails very square and straight and sharp he told me square was his favorite so I was pleased ... I had to keep telling him to make them square he kept informing me I waited "too long" to get a fill in ans he was trying to keep my nail shape since I wanted to keep my nails on ... I kept telling him to fix my nails and I ended up having to just let him put the gel nail polish and leave because I had to go to work I was planning on going the next day to get them fixed but my cuticles were so sore and still are I'm not ready for anybody to come near my nails ima go to my regular place in dc in a few days I'm going to let my cuticles heal some more I'd like anybody considering this place to be cautious and do not let khai do your nails he's terrible I'm not sure if he's new to doing nails or was training but I've never had a worst time and I love going to the nail shop it's my therapy but this place was a NO for me and I'd tell you too to skip it but if you do go I hope you'll have better luck than me the white is the gel fill in and for reference I'll add how my nails were before going to the one nail bar read more

I hate to write a bad review about a place that I had grown to love but today really pissed me off! I had an appt set for 5:00pm with VI, I drove from over an hr away, only to be told that she was not in due to being sick. I understand that things happen however I was never called and informed about this. only to be told that she and everyone else is booked for the remainder of the day and the next morning. All of her appts had been moved over but they missed mine. I am very disappointed in the unprofessional behavior about a place that I am a regular at. The prices are constantly going up but the service has been consistently going down which is very unfortunate. read more

So happy I found The One Nail Bar since moving to Silver Spring! Lee is really sweet and always does a great job with my nails and toes! I'm pretty picky when it comes to my nails and I never have to worry about them not being perfect with her. The entire salon is clean, sterilized, and the other people who work there seem to be great as well. They have every color under the sun and it's nice that it's right next to Starbucks and Trader Joes for convenience purposes. Definitely check this place out! :-) read more

I have gone to this place about 3 times now and it never disappoints! It is my go to place to get my nails done because the manicure lasts super long and the manicurist always does a phenomenal job. DISCRIMINATION. I had an issue with One Nail Bar TWO visits in a row. The first issue: I made an appointment with Vi but when I arrived she was with another client. I told her I had an appointment and she said she was backed up because another worker was sick so she had to take on her clients. I ended up waiting 25 mins PAST my appointment time. I asked for a discount for the inconvenience and was given 10% off. The second issue: 2 weeks later I called on a Tuesday and made an appointment for Saturday for my nails and toes in preparation for a vacation the next day. I specifically made it for 10AM so I would be Vi's first client of the day. When I arrived she was JUST getting started with another client. Again I told her I made an appointment DAYS earlier. She said someone double booked her and she couldn't accommodate me because she was booked the entire day. She said Ken could paint my nails and someone else could do my toes. After Ken finished, an older woman started on my feet. It was clear that she was not skilled in this line of work. I told her to cut my toes down a little but she ended up cutting them SUPER short and crooked. Then she cut the skin by my toe with the filing tool. I immediately asked for someone else to do my feet. After another woman did my toes, I asked Vi for compensation for the whole fiasco. I was visibly pissed off. She gave me 10% off then proceded to tell me she would not be able to do my nails in the future because something always seemed to happen when I come in. I literally couldn't believe she said that. I did nothing wrong but because I called them out on their issues I am no longer welcomed by her. Best believe if I was a white woman this would NOT have happened. Good work and good customer service. Totally absurd prices. We made the last minute decision by word of mouth to come here because our regular salon wasn't able to accomodate three pedis. We chose the tropical pedicure with "reflexology massage". A few dollars and extra minutes longer than the basic pedi service. I wish I checked before arriving that choosing gel polish meant an extra $20 on top of the $37 pedicure. By the way, there was no reflexology massage, there was a 30 second "rub down" with oil. I brought the concern to the nail tech who said "oh, that's just the wording we use but it's a basic massage... thank you for your opinion." Um... well then i didn't get what I paid for then! Very poor "choice of words" and clearly not worth the money when they can openly admit to making basic services seem good with pretty words. I was really excited to give this place my business at first because of the clean environment and organized atmosphere but I can't get over their pricing and justifications for them. read more

Just moved to the area which means trying to find a new salon. Decided to the One Nail Bar after walking by it serval times on my way to Trader Joe's. The inside is immaculately clean. They are following every COVID precaution and more. Each station has barriers up, masks are required, temperature checks and you must sanitize before you sit down. The salon and staff were great. My nails came out perfectly. I've been getting my nails done every 2-3 weeks for 9 years so when I moved I was worried I wouldn't find a salon to live up to my old one...worried for no reason. My experience is that it's inconsistent. I had my first nail dip there and one hand was very bumpy and thick looking. They also don't respect appointments. You can make an appointment, but they won't necessarily take you above a walk-in. Their communication about running late (like 45 minutes) is not good. read more

Walked in for a gel pedicure, I did get seated right away, I think they had just opened. The water was cold as can be. I was handed a menu for different types of pedicure. I chose the $50 option since my feet needed extra help. There was minimal shaping and the nails were filed at an angle not straight, no nail clipping, the tech never even cleaned under the nails. Every step felt rushed. The color looks good. Heels still feel rough. When it came time to pay, I was charged $70. I tipped based on the price point I chose from the menu but it definitely was an overpriced foot rinse and gel polish. I really wanted to like this place, but would absolutely not recommend. I got a pedicure there, and the technician was rubbing so hard that my foot began bleeding and continued to bleed for about 45 minutes after the appointment. My friend came also and got a manicure. His nail got infected severely afterwards, and he had to see a dermatologist about it. The dermatologist said his nail might never grow back normally. Again - would not recommend. read more

Gel manicures start to peel off towards the 2 week period. It leaves me wondering if the polish is actually gel polish. I have never had gel polish peel off similar to regular polish. Gel usually requires soaking and/or filing to remove. When I shared my experience and showed my peeling nails, that began peeling in under 2 weeks, I was told that I must have done something, to my nails, prior to the polish being applied that caused the polish to peel. My manicure was done by one of the technicians at The One Nail Bar so whatever was done, was done there. The person in charge at the time Thuy Tran Nguyen, was dismissive and shared that the only guarantee gel polish for 2 weeks. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but each time that I've gone there, I've not had a good experience. When having a pedicure, the hot towels used were scalding hot. The technician cracked one of my nails using the electric file and she filed my skin. Both I believe were unintentional but due to lack of experience and expertise. Like many other nails shops, there is a lack of concern and basic courteousness given to customers. When I shared my experience with my nails peeling there was no attempt to make things right or even a hint of concern about what I had experienced. I was not asking for nor expecting a refund or a free manicure. It was clear that customer loyalty is not a concern or desire of this business. I will not be returning. read more

Since the start of the pandemic, I knew that one of the first items on my freedom agenda was to get a pedicure. Since I was double vaxed, I felt it was safe enough to venture out. The salon opened in December 2020 so it feels very new and clean. When I arrived there was only one other client and about 3 masked employees so I felt very "safe". I was asked which "box" I wanted. Initially, I was somewhat confused, but the "box" contains all the ingredients for the pedicure, so the technician is not using soaps, lotions, implements, etc. from the same container used for other clients. SAFE again! You will also be able to choose the scent you prefer. Allie took amazing care of me and I felt refreshed and renewed after the pedicure. At the last minute I decided to go for a basic manicure. All the services were outstanding, the salon was lovely and all safety precautions were followed. I will be back! read more
