What a gem of a place Old Sasoon was! Many moons ago I had the pleasure of helping someone open an Armenian cafe back home. So as soon as I saw the word Sasoon, I had to barrel towards the shop and try not to buy everything on the menu. I loved everything I got to take home today. The lahmajoun wraps, the khachapuri, the baked soujouk pies. My oh my. Every single items were just divine. It made my day. The store has several street parking spots available right in front of the store and in the surrounding areas. There's also plenty of seatings available inside and outside. Many opted to eat outside as it was a nice day. Bathroom is gender neutral and very clean too. So if anyone is wanting some savory breakfast/ early lunch as many related stores are closed Tuesday or doesn't reopen until 1100, this is the place to go!

LOVED. Ambiance is very local spot vibes and casual. There likely will be a small wait but service is fast and efficient. Got the khachapuri with soujouk. Omgggggg this is a dish I want to eat again and again. The cheesiness. The egg. The deliciously spiced meat. The pillowy bread. Perfection. Can't wait to come back and try literally everything else.

I love support local and specialty food. I was hungry but not that hungry...you know that's feeling, you want something hearty but not heavy. Found this Mediterranean/Georgian style food. I ordered ahead and got the mushroom turn over. It was just enough . Warm and fluffy turnover. Little spice, little kick to it but not overpowering. I took it to go. But the restaurant is very nice and clean. They are James Beard award winner for best baker. The owner was there and she was nice.

Coming out of the woodwork to give some credit to a local favorite of many. I wish it didn't take me so long to finally think of it for breakfast on a beautiful, sunny, Saturday morning. The two things we ordered were their khachapuri with chorizo and shakshuka. Both of which were the perfect amount of comfort in comfort foods. Shakshukas have always been a favorite of mine and the one here was a good tomato blend with three eggs. As for their famous khachapuri-- it was delicious, savory, filling. We were already thinking of what topping combinations we would want on our next visit. The table was also given a solid set extra wrap, onions, mint and tomato. Didn't even get to the flatbreads, beorags, or baklavas yet because after this morning's stroll over, we hope to make more visits to try more menu items as we go. Thank you Old Sasoon for existing. See you again real soon!

I have been coming to this bakery for well over a decade. It is such a classic in the East Pasadena area. Recently I drove by and was reminded that it was time to try it again. I noticed the place was full of regulars and had a very vibrant energy. The house coffee they serve is delicious and piping hot. They were out of a couple of things I wanted but some of the fellow customers suggested their favorites and I ended up with a delicious mix of items. I always get some lahna June. I also picked up the stuffed cheese and nasturma bread and stuffed mushroom pastry. I loved how it was full of mushrooms with no filler. I didn't expect it to have the spicy kick that it did. Some red peppers were added in but they were not too spicy in my opinion. I was so happy they had the jingalov hats, flatbread stuffed with a mixture of greens and herbs. I find this item so clean and refreshing. I often go pick them up in Glendale but it's nice to have them in Pasadena as well. Everything heated up wonderfully in the air fryer which warmed it through and kept all the crispy edges.

Absolutely wonderful bakery that is great for breakfast or brunch. The food is fresh, authentic, and tastes wonderful. The star of the show is definitely the khachapuri, cooked to perfection and super satisfying. The owners are so nice and treat you like family. The interior is so clean and cozy.

Delicious food and the very kind owner took great care of us, even giving us an extra piece of baklava for free! Everything is handmade and fresh and the care really shows. Great place.

The Standout: Basturma and the Soujouk Turnover. Absolutely my favorite item. The Khachapuri was good, don't get me wrong, but it was hard shove in mouth and I am Not a fan of runny eggs. But the Turnover $4, what a tasty treat that is grab and go! What a delicious pocket of cheese and protein goodness. Be warned that the Soujouk can squirt oil! But dayum it was worth every bite! Warm it up for 10 seconds and it will legit blow your mind!

Foul Wrap

Three blocks from my house--why don't I go here more!!! I had a lovely lunch at their sidewalk tables, a foul (fava beans) wrap. It took a minute to be ready because they make everything fresh!! My friend got the khachapuri which looked amazing!! I will get that next time. So many great dishes to choose from and I love supporting our community so I'll be back!!

DELICIOUS

The place…read morewas packed at like 10:00 on a Tuesday morning, with a line to order and every table occupied the whole time we were there. I guess this is the spot for coffee and pastries in Pasadena. It was a cute shop with a millennial-friendly aesthetic. Brick walls, exposed ceiling, and lots of hanging lights. Case full of beautiful pastries, house chocolates and merchandise for sale. The line moved quickly enough, and service was friendly and reasonably fast. A table opened up for us when we needed it, and we sat and enjoyed our coffee and pastry. I got a salted honey latte, which was delicious. I'm not a habitual coffee drinker, and this felt like a special indulgent little treat. I'm not a pastry person either, but the kougin amann was fantastic, rich and buttery and shatteringly crispy. I also got a chocolate croissant to go for my husband, who said it was really good. We sat for maybe half an hour, and when we left, someone was there to take our spot, and we had to squeeze past the line that was coming through the door. I don't like coffee and sweets enough to do all that on a regular basis, but I enjoyed my visit to Artisanal Goods and would recommend it if you want top notch pastries in Pasadena.

I was able to find parking nearby luckily and that was probably the hardest part. However, it was also really hot that day so I came prepared with a big hat because I saw the line wrap around the building. I was able to catch it when I was at a lull and the line moved pretty quick. A couple of other items that looked really good that I need to try. I know there is some seasonal items that sell out really quick to keep an eye out of. The chocolate croissant was great and I'll have to wait to try some of their other items next time which I also hear is amazing. The dining area isn't the biggest popular places. It's probably not the easiest to find a spot to sit and enjoy unless you time it correctly.

Not only is it ranked #1 in LA but it goes above and beyond the call of duty. Look at the photo! You can't even see the roll! The icing game is strong! The dough, fluffy. The culinary specialist, Cañada, must have graduated from MIT because she engineered the perfect formula for it! I don't know what else to compare Sweet Red Peach too because they're in a league of their own! The service is quick, staff friendly, the ambiance quiet and intimate. This review is for the cinnamon roll only - my bf and I are in search of the best cinnamon treats…read morein LA and hearing the hype about this cinnamon roll made it a must-try on our list! First, the good: the cinnamon roll was moist and fluffy all the way through. No dry cinnamon rolls here! The service was also very friendly. The not so good: my first bite, which somehow managed to not have much icing, gave me a clear taste of the dough. It reminded me a lot of canned biscuit dough. I prefer a thicker icing, this one was quite runny and very sweet without any nuance to the flavor. Also, I really wanted to try the peach cobbler cupcakes but they didn't have any cupcakes in stock at all, only a few cake slices. We went around noon, and I hoped they would have plenty of options around that time :/ Unfortunately I've had much better cinnamon rolls elsewhere in LA. It's still tasty because, well, it's a cinnamon roll... but not sure I'll be back unless it's to try the cake or cupcakes.

Light, silky, refreshing, and packed with tropical flavor without feeling too sweet. I also tried the raspberry chocolate pastry which was beautifully executed with raspberry compote and chocolate mousse, but I'm just very particular about chocolate-forward desserts. The iced vanilla latte was the perfect balance alongside the pastries, and I ended up leaving with a handful of macarons that were honestly addictive. Every flavor was delicious. Love the outdoor seating too. Perfect spot to slow down for a minute, enjoy a coffee, and have a really elevated pastry experience.

Their New York rolls were full, rich, flaky, and flavorful. Unfortunately, over the past year, the quality has gone completely downhill. The croissants are now dry, overcooked, and tasteless , even early in the morning. It honestly feels like they changed the butter because the flavor is gone. The pastries look beautiful for Instagram, but the taste no longer matches the image. People probably come for the terrace and the "Paris" aesthetic, but nothing about these pastries feels authentically French anymore. The owner is Iranian and honestly should stick to Iranian pastries instead of trying to market this place as a French pâtisserie, because it is nowhere close to the quality or refinement of a real French pastry shop. On top of that, customer service is terrible. The employees are rude, impatient, and act bothered when you ask simple questions like the price of a croissants ; especially since prices are not clearly displayed. Paying almost $7 for a croissant or New York roll, and $10+ for many pastries, would maybe be acceptable with excellent quality and service... but definitely not with dry pastries and rude staff. Parking is another nightmare. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you have to park on San Fernando, pay for parking, and parking enforcement is constantly circling waiting to ticket people the second your time expires. This was my last visit. Save your money and go elsewhere for pastries -- honestly, even Whole Foods does better at this point.
