A great place to bring children for an inexpensive outing. I do not visit The Ocean Floor often. But when I do they have what I need. Toda I needed turtle food. That means you get stuck with a wordy review. March 12, 2026, mid day, I returned to my home. Two neighbors, who rarely communicate looked confused. We live in a condo complex, many things beside dry leaves and plastic bags find their way into our corner of the place. That day iteas a red eared slider turtle. You know them, the quarter sized petlets, millions accidentally killed by hopeful turtle owners. This one was 8 inches long and six inches across. Plus, very healthy and undamaged. By evening I knew who lost the turtle. The woman with the jungle patio and cage of happy parakeets. This made perfect sense. This water turtle escaped in November, 2025, finding it's way home in March, 2026. We have been fully occupied with urgent stuff. The neighbor is not home much. I got a container at the thrift store, I got the ultimatum from Sweet D - the turtle must go home TODAY. Turtle food at The Ocean Floor is in the rear near the customer service counter. I got a little bag of floating bits for $5. The turtle was ravenous. The turtle is home. Several people are happy er. Yay! read more

Everyone is a pleasure to talk to and actually knowledgeable in the hobby which is uncommon. I'm a saltwater guy and they have a great selection of corals as well as fish. If they don't have what you need you can order something in and they will likely be able to get it. Today was my first visit and the store is beautiful...and I did buy a few plants that look great & so far seem healthy. But, I also got a Dwarf African Frog, having lost my 6 year old frog 2 days ago. The frog was floating on top of the water in the store, but the sales rep said they do that, and he was fine. He stayed on top of the water in the bag. He stayed on top of the water while acclimating, he stayed on top of the water in the tank...just floating, not moving. I made up a hospital tank to see if he might be a little stressed, or overwhelmed...usually they hide, but not this one. It's 12:30am & I'm watching him die. Really neat place. Worth visiting just for the vibes alone. Some of the hardgoods are overpriced but the livestock is reasonably priced, with great variety and generally very healthy. One of the best shops in the valley for coral IMO. Great variety of frags and all very healthy. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Specific shoutout to Mundo in the coral section. The Ocean Floor is a gem of an aquarium store. The shop is likely the largest in the state, packed with an impressive variety of tanks, supplies, fish, and healthy, vibrant plants. Saul was incredibly personable and patient with us, walking through about fifteen different aquarium options and even arranging them in multiple layouts while we weighed the pros and cons. Even though we planned to cycle the tank first, he happily showed us fish and shrimp choices and explained the maintenance needs of each. Joe, the manager, was just as helpful. We live 45 minutes from this location but wanted to browse what they had. We were surprised at the high price point for livestock. Our 200g tank happily houses 2 designer clowns, a blue hippo tang, a sail fin tang, a coral beauty, royal gramma, 2 camel shrimp, and a blue damsel for almost a year prior to this. Associates were good about coming up and asking if you needed help, but then seemed eager to disengage in the conversation if it wasn't something quick. Our water was within safe parameters so with the suggestion of an associate we agreed on 2 blue damsels, 2 coral frags, and an arrow crab. Not even 12 hours after getting everything appropriately into the tank, the arrow crab and damsel were dead and the corals were shriveled. We called to ask about the corals being shriveled and were told they'd take up to 3 days to fully acclimate and open (they never did open, they just died). As for the crab and damsel; we were told we'd need to bring in a water sample and would only be given a 50% credit back on the animals. Feel like this is definitely something that should be *verbally* mentioned when purchasing the fish-- especially if you're requiring a photo ID and signature when making purchases with a debit/credit card. Just something along the lines of "just so you know we've got a policy where you only get 50% credit back on saltwater fish". No fine print i have to scour for on the receipt like it's a terms and conditions document, just be straight forward and verbal about policies pertaining to the items people are purchasing. All of the other animals we previously had in our tank are still thriving despite the arrow crab, damsel, and frags dying. Unfortunately disappointed in the quality received for the price we paid. On a positive note, the store was very large on the inside and had a lot to browse in terms of supplies, displays, livestock, etc. wouldn't purchase livestock from here again but as mentioned, their selection for supplies was pretty thorough so will keep that in mind for future needs. Giving 3 stars for the size of the store and selection, but lack of communication and quality of livestock. read more

I agreed to adopt a friend's Harlequin Rasboras. I knew little about them, but They were moving to Alaska and needed someone to take their friends. There were 3 in a small .5-1 gallon "tank" I've had the fishes for a while now, and it has been a bit challenging on my part. I learned that they are schooling fish and do better in even numbers. Well, I had 3, and they had no room to school. It came to a point where I felt it was an emergency situation, and I had to give them space and a few more friends. After calling the local chain pet stores, no one had Rasboras. I remember visiting this store in the early 2000s with a buddy. So I gave them a call, and they did have them. I went up there, grabbed an air pump, the fish, and some food. The staff were helpful, and the lady checking me out gave me a lot of helpful information and invited me to call if I had any questions. Truth is, I still do and will be back in for a few more things. I believe the place is local, so that is a game changer for me, in addition to them likely having more knowledge about the fisges than some of the chains. And so, I am a fan, and as a person who is just realizing I may be entering into this new hobby, I will be back. read more

Pretty solid options as far as salt and fresh water fish. The staff is helpful, maybe a touch understaffed, but when you're fighting with a skittish fish it takes time. Only complain is some of their equipment is pretty expensive compared to when ordered from bulk reef or other online vendors. I'll definitely make stops by when I am in the area. I have spent the last 15 years at ocean floor, I live 45 mins away. . I spent $1800.00 on a new tank, stand, light, pump, substrate and all the good stuff to start up my aquarium. Yesterday I went in to buy some fish, and to my surprise when I got home,, they had bagged me the wrong fish mixed in with the ones I wanted. I wanted Rummy noset tetras, and they gave me cardinal tetras. I had asked if they had a problem with separating the two. No problem they replied. Steve was my sales person, and when I called, he could have cared less, and told me to bring them back the next. Day and wanted me to harbor them in a Tupperware container. Mind you a *45 min. Trip each way for 18,00 fish. No compensation for his screw up, didn't care gas prices these days I could have gotten a whole lot more. But they didn't care about their 15 yr loyal customer. Been in the store for over an hour with no help. Better off going to Tropical Treasures, they have way better service. And saw quite a few cockroaches while waiting for help in ocean floor.(I made a yelp account specifically for this because I've never had worse service than this) looking through the reviews I see the owner saying "we strive for great customer service" but it seems as if this isn't the case with all these 1 stars being customer service related. This is the largest aquarium store I've ever been to. They have a lot of common fish in stock as well as some less common fish and eels. Every single betta has a mini tank with a filter which is nice to see. They have a used goods section which sells items that are used or closer to expiration date at a reduced price. One thing that disappoints me is their husbandry of axolotls. They're kept together and not separately and many of them had missing legs, arms, and or gills. That can be pretty stressful for the axolotls so I was disappointed. read more

Huge store with an insane selection of fresh and saltwater fish, plants, and coral. Bought a 20 gallon tank to expand several months ago after raising a betta in a 5 gallon for some time and every single employee in the building helped us every second of the way. Helped us select plants and fish that would get along with our betta as well as selecting products that would keep our tank in perfect shape. Every time we have a problem with water parameters or fish not doing well someone is quick to give us excellent advice and Im happy to say our tank is doing amazing. Special shout out to Mark, Jace, MK, and Saul who have especially went above and beyond with customer service across the board. They always greet us personally, Mark and Jace specifically remember what kind of tank we have and how it is stocked and genuinely seems to care about how things are going. So I'm fairly new to fish& aquariums- there is so much to learn and can seem overwhelming. I've come in twice before, and every time I ask for Saul! He is so welcoming, informational and knowledgeable about the different fish and supplies! And very patient with all my questions (I always have so many!! As someone new to fish I get nervous to ask people and sometimes embarrassed) Saul is very friendly , without pressure of buying and breathing down your neck ya knows he makes me feel comfortable with explaining things, and very down to earth. He helped me through the steps of setting up my new aquarium! And was able to give me information about the different aquarium setup and which one would work best for me! (And my fish) I just love someone that you can tell cares so much and is so compassionate about what they do. It's more than "just a job" and puts the fish first I really appreciate he made sure I have everything they need and explaining the use of it too and how to get the most out of that product. Drive 45 minutes from my home to see that the store was very over priced. Once I did get someone to help me. I was going to buy 3 clown coaches and some food for them. I went to check out and stood I a line with one other person. Watched as the lady behind the register struggled to check the people out it was a large purchase. There was a sales person there trying to help. 10 minutes went buy with no one coming ti the second register to take care of the line that had formed. Then of the main floor came a manager with another customer with another large purchase and he walked the up to the other register and checked them out so I asked the salesperson what was going on he shrugged his shoulder and said I guess you are not buying enough so handed him my items and told him to put them back and I left. So if your not going to purchase a lot from this store I don't think you will be helped. Never going back, and you should shop else where. read more

We recently bought a 125 gallon tank from Ocean Floor and the experience was great. This has been one of our go to places that is close by for well cared for fish, food, plants and now tanks. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and remember us every time we come in. If you're looking for freshwater or saltwater (they have more fresh) then this is the place. There is a wide variety of foods and tanks available as well. They also have a nice koi pond as well to enjoy. Definitely a great place and we will be back soon!! read more

I think I am done with this place. Ocean Floor has always been over priced. Saturday 12/16 I was in the area and decided to stop by and get some fish. I browsed the fish area for about 30 minutes, walking by numerous employees multiple times. In all that time, NOT 1 employee greeted me or asked if I needed any help. When I went to the middle counter to ask the 2 guys a question, one gave me a very uninterested answer and just walked away, the other one just stood there and never said a thing. How dare you treat customers that way, and this isn't the first time. A few employees are nice and helpful, but most are like this guy. WOW what an awesome store and they have everything, however their staff is what sets it way above any other. We were met when we walked in by TJ and spent the next 1-2 hours learning from his extensive knowledge and his awesome information and way he shares it. This guy knows his stuff and takes the time to explain and make recommendations and suggestions! The other staff members are also very informed, jump in and make this an incredible team who demonstrate how much they love this hobby. This isn't just a fish store, it is an experience!!! This place is HUGE...I mean HUGE - like crazy HUGE!!! We worked with James, who happened to be the owner's grandson. This place is like going to the Disneyland of fish stores!! I don't understand the complainers. Just ignore the whiners!! The customer service was TOP NOTCH, the prices were VERY fair, and it is a FUN place to go just for the experience!! We were NOT pressured at all to buy, but we were educated as our kid just got a fish tank for Christmas. We were told to buy the cheap (and a particular hardy...not delicate) fish while we establish our tank so that if they don't survive, we didn't waste a lot of money. We were offered two fish and our kid wanted three because they were 3 for $5.00. WOW!! These three fish are a LOT of fun to watch as they play together and are very active together!! We are having a blast!! Although we live about 40 minutes away, we will return to The Ocean Floor for more supplies, more fish and some frogs too!! Why go to boring old PetsMart and have a few overpriced choices when you can go and have an EXPERIENCE at The Ocean Floor?!! I like this place. I've been to many fish stores in the valley and I always end up here. Great selection of everything and knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to discuss things with you regardless of your experience level without being elitists. Most of the fish in my aquarium came from The Ocean Floor. They have hard scape, plants, equipment, tanks, you name it. Kid and pet friendly. Military discounts, rewards program.
