Got the new girl the last time I was there. I had a feeling it wouldn't be good. As she was cutting, she had the nail clipper too close to my other toe and literally clipped off a chunk of skin from the underside of my other toe...no where even close to a nail. It hurt A LOT and of course instantly began to bleed so I said I want someone else. They instantly replaced her but barely said a word. And now I was in a bit of pain and on edge and as I kept pulling back, the girl had the nerve to say "you're very sensitive hah? Um no but I do react when my skin gets clipped off and have a bit of a trust issue with you now. The girl prior had filled the water. Should've known. The moment I put my foot in it was hot as hell. The prior girl had only filled it with hot. They should've offered a discount for how bad the service was and for the dumb comments. Nope. Never going back there again and would not recommend. read more

I have been a regular to this place for the past year. I came at least once a month sometimes twice a month for mani pedi. So it broke my heart to write this review for them. First of all, the owner never acknowledged me as a regular. I would expect a standard "hi how are you, how have you been". Never gotten these. The owner is real business all the time. Secondly, I'm 9m pregnant right now and is dying for a relaxing mani pedi. I called to schedule an appointment today and was told they only have time for one service at 4:30. I said ok, I ll do the manicure since the gel I had from 2 weeks ago needs to be taken off anyway. It took me a while to find parking, I walked in at 4:39. I was told that I was late and they can only take the gel off and do some filing on the nails. There's no line at the place and there's no other people waiting. I said ok, tAke the gel off and clean the cuticles I ll be fine. As soon as the lady start taking the gel, she was told I don't do any color in Spanish and some other instructions. I'm not sure what they talked about. Next thing I know I was sitting there waiting for 10min while she's working on someone else who just walked in (at 4:50). After waiting for a while, the lady came back and removed the gel on my fingers and tell me I'm good to go. And that's $5. There's no services at all. I'd do this at home if I knew they r running such a 'tight' schedule. I would appreciate if the owner can tell me they don't have time for any appointment, or at least treat me as a regular walk in when I'm 9min late. And since when having your nails done became like a job or school that have to be taking attendance? I had many good things to say about this place for a while and now I'm so disappointed and prob never going back there again. read more

I have been coming to the Nail Bar for over 4 years and I finally reached my breaking point today after a couple of minor mishaps the last two times. Please do not come here. The staff's knowledge of the price list is inconsistent and unprofessional. I have been paying $52 in cash for a gel manicure and pedicure ($55 original price + discount for paying cash). Somehow, today, my gel manicure and pedicure (with callous remover, which I get sometimes and has only ever been a few dollars more) was $70?! And only a $2 discount when paying cash? I told my technician several times I have never paid that much, the math didn't make sense and all she did was show me the price chart, which didn't even have the right prices for what she said to me in the first place. I am never coming back here again just to get duped into paying an extra $15. read more

The owner answers the phone and makes all the appointments so unless you want a gel mani/pedi with all the extras she sticks you with times that are inconvenient if at all. She can't keep technicians all the good ones quit in a short amount of time. Go elsewhere there are plenty of options in Hoboken where they appreciate your business! read more

The service here is incredibly inconsistent. There are times when they double book appointment times and you have a long wait. There are other times when the quality of the polish is poor or old and so it does not last very long at all. I really tried to be supportive but I unfortunately would not go back!! read more

Inconsistent nail filings on all nails, extremely aggressive cuticle cutting, very poor painting because of how fast the woman was working, and my nails ended up with these little holes in the paint on both hands. I came there once for a pedicure and let it slide thinking she was just maybe having a bad day but then when I made an appointment for a UV fill in she told me I missed my appointment, which I didn't, and then me she would have someone else do them but "don't expect much". Not really selling your employees well, so i told her I would go to another salon thanks anyway and she mumbled something under her breathe as I left. Went here for the first time and got a gel manicure. The next morning it had faded and left me with a ombré look which has never happened to me before with this color (I get it often), it's supposed to be the darker pink at the tip and somehow faded overnight. I went in as soon as they opened the next morning attempting to explain it to the owner and nicely asking her to fix it since I was going to be in a wedding and this isn't what I paid for. She asked if I had been in the pool or sun (neither, it was cloudy and rainy from the time I got my nails done until the time I went to get them fixed) and offered 0 apology or even a refund for this happening and said she couldn't fix them for another two days. Walked in today at 5pm to ask about getting a pedicure. Place was empty apart from one lady getting a manicure. The lazy staff sat there giving me dirty looks telling me they don't have to take walk in customers and that their manager has the day off. They clearly had time but do not want to work. They barely speak English and were struggling to get me out of the place as soon as possible. This happened to me last time I went for a pedicure too. This is called being to big for your britches. They really don't care about losing customers because of their location. What they need to know is Ladies in Hoboken talk and bad service is not acceptable as there are dozens of other nail salons within walking distance. Such apathetic behavior will come back to bite them sooner or later. We shall see. read more

UV gel fill with Vicky is always a pleasure ! I love how attentive she is and always makes sure you are satisfied with shape, color, etc . . Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the woman who did my pedicure. I picked out my color and she made the mistake and asked Vicky for the wrong color . When I saw her painting my toes I stopped her and apologized while letting her know that wasn't the right color . Instead of just asking me which one was the color I wanted and removing the original polish , she gets a little hostile and says "you chose that color" . . Um . . NO tf I didn't . She also calls for vicky's assistance again with choosing the right color , and says "sorry to bother you again" . Wouldn't anyone that's PAYING for a service be annoyed at those comments ? I love the Nail Bar salon and their friendly staff (Angie, Vicky, etc)! I'm always satisfied with my gel manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. Salon is clean, relaxing and offers new colors/brands with every season. It's also dog friendly. Salon is typically busy so it's better to call in appointment instead of walk-in. Only pedicure experience here but this place i charges you 32-35$ for a pedicure and you legitimately paying them for a polish change. I live on the same block so I end up going there a lot and every time it is the same disappointment. Today I tried another place in the area and my toes actually look new and the polish is shinny - it showed me how much of a difference this is. This place is clean and everyone was really nice (even when I was 10 minutes late...oops!) I called a few nail places in the area and The Nail Bar was in the middle of the price range that I was getting. Its really close to the 9th/Congress light rail stop. I wouldn't say this place is anything super special but they did do a great job. It was pretty fast...like 25min for a pedicure. I got french so it was $25 not $20 like the standard. Overall, Id say this place is great for a quick clean pedi but if you are looking to spend some relaxing time and a real treat for you feet, you might not find this is the place for you. When you come in there is no waiting around, they take you at the time of your appointment and allot for ample time for your service. I've been to almost all of the manicurists and haven't had a bad experience yet. All the ladies are very professional and clean and give you the full service treatment. Compared to majority of the other nail salons in Hoboken, majority of the women are actually certified to be manicurists (certificates are on the wall and everything)! After Covid they increased the price and took away some of the things that were part of the pedicure like the hot stone massage. The last time I went I asked the lady why it was not included and she said the machine was not working. It only takes plugging it in to make work, but she made it sound like a complicated process.
