Quite literally the worst experience ever. Rushed pedicure, a single see-through coat of nail polish. As for the gel manicure, SHAMEFUL. Firstly, rather than be transparent about not having enough of the color I chose to do the service they Frankensteined a color halfway through. They also picked at my cuticles until they bled. Throughout the service I kept telling the women to PLEASE paint the sides and up to the cuticle. She refused and then after my 5th request she just started painting over the skin. Sadly stopped going back after I kept leaving with cuts, the gentleman who was doing my nails would fall asleep and the drill would hit my cuticle or nail. I've visited this nail salon two times now and I've been very satisfied with the quality of service, the friendly staff and overall quiet and relaxing ambience. I don't get much done, just a traditional men's spa pedicure. For both of my visits, Jackie was the one that helped me and she is awesome. When I get a pedicure I always request for my nails to be cut very very short. Often times nail techs are too afraid to clip too deep but Jackie gets it right and perfect every time. Located in Hoboken, it's in a nice area near several other shops and restaurants. If you make an appointment to visit the salon, try to arrive early because parking is a nightmare. I've been to this salon about six times for gel manicures, and unfortunately, the quality is inconsistent. Half the time, the results are amazing, but the other half, they're disappointing. My most recent visit was the worst yet. The manicure was rushed, leaving my cuticles showing and my nails bumpy and streaky--something I've never experienced before. When I brought this up, I was told it was due to 'sensitive skin' or 'weak nails,' which isn't true. I arrived an hour and 40 minutes before closing, but the staff seemed to be in a hurry. The filing was so aggressive it was painful, and when I returned to have the manicure fixed, it only got worse. My fingers are now sore and burning from how hard they were filed. ZERO STARS RUINED MY NAILS. I went for a fill in and I asked for them to be shorter almond with a point. She took CHUNKS out of the side of my nails to the point they could not be fixed. She cut them so far off my actual nail bed there was no way they could have been shaped to look normal let alone natural. I needed 3 nails fixed and she wanted to charge an additional $11 per nail. I walked in and was able to get a very quick spa pedi. What stood out was the massage. Danny is very familiar with reflexology so I got a legit foot massage. It was so good, I got an additional massage so my toes could dry longer and he was able to get a bunch of deep ceded kinks out of my back. This will be my first nasty review but please do NOT spend money here. I wouldn't have written anything if the woman answering the phone wasn't so rude.. she literally laughed at me when I called. I went to this salon to get my gel removed & replaced with a regular manicure a day and a half ago. In the chipped areas you can see my neon yellow polish from before isn't even fully removed. When I called to ask if I could have these repaired the woman laughed because "regular polish will chip". Didn't realize I was paying for a 48 hour manicure - next time I'll know better. **Edit - the owner just left me a voicemail immediately after this review was posted that I am "wrong" because my manicure was Tuesday and today is Friday. After being disappointed with several salons in the area with professionalism and prices, I'm so glad that I finally landed with nail atelier. I've now gone 3 times in. They helped my poor nail beds that got destroyed by other salons with the dip powder, and restored them to a work of art status! I love how attentive they are. I have had multiple different manicurists now, and they ALLL do a wonderful job. I've never been so happy with service like this. Had a great pedicure and manicure. I appreciated that the place is spread out and you're not on top of everyone. It didn't smell like toxic fumes. Maybe they have a good ventilation system, or stopped doing toxic things, but I could breathe easily in this salon, and it was winter with the door closed. The massage chairs are very nice with gentle and deep massages. The foot massage is also nice. Not some fast rub, but a slow and deep massage that felt amazing. Also appreciate the hot stone. Great selection of nail polish. Everyone was friendly. Convenient location. And very clean salon. I appreciate that everyone is asked to sanitize their hands when entering and I noticed they scrubbed down the stations after each person. Like really scrubbed with sponge and cleaner. I always liked this place until today. I called to make an appointment for two pedicures the day before and asked for the back room for me and my significant other so we could be somewhat secluded. When we got there i made sure we were still sitting where I originally ask. The owner said yes right to my face then sat us in a "regular"stop. My pedicure was fast but the polish was good. My significant other added something extra to his pedicure. When I went to pay the owner added $5 more to the total. When I did the math and corrected her. She seemed annoyed and said take the money "here, here." When I tipped, the lady who did my pedicure started laughing. The owner came up to me and told me I need to tip more for my significant other! I've been here twice now and it's been great both times! They have a good price for a gel pedicure ($55). Other places I called were $65-$70 without tip. The service is great and everyone is very friendly. It's also very clean, which is super important to me when it comes to a nail salon. I had a great experience here yesterday! The nail technicians were incredibly attentive. They made sure my friend and I sat next to each other and they customized the experience. Instead of just doing things, they asked what we liked and if we wanted certain things done, like nail shape and application of certain oils, etc. They checked our nails to make sure they were dry and helped us with our coats. Interesting how times change. I wrote a Yelp review for this place years ago giving 5 stars and now If I could give negative I would. Not about the technician it was how I was treated today; specially after this has been my go-to spot for 4 1/2 years. I was under the drier after my pedicure and noticed they were getting packed. I asked earlier for someone to check my toes. A manager woman checked, added a top coat real quick and I was back under since they were not ready. Very normal encounter, as I've often experienced before. About 10 minutes goes by and now there are no more seats avail and they're overflowing with business; I want to offer my seat to the next customer. I ask the same manager again (when she came back to stand by the register) to check my toes. She looks around says something (inaudible) but finds a free technician to do it. The woman checked gave me plastic for my toes (I forgot to bring flip flops) and everything was per my expectation. As I got up the manager comes behind me and asks me to tip my technician. I was confused because the woman who gave me plastic for my toes was not my technician and second why would I be called out for not tipping a woman who gave me plastic for my toes? Lastly, a tip is a suggestion not a requirement. And I gave my technician at $5 tip promptly after I paid for my service. She asked me in front of everybody and the women at the drying table and customers waiting for service were earshot of the conversation. I replied she was not my technician. Seems like there was confusion and then I look around and see my technician working with somebody else. I pointed towards her so the manager can see. My technician smiles, and looks confused. I think the manager said sorry as she turned around not sure. Another technician walking out casually says, sorry we're just so busy. It took me a second to process but as I walked through the door it sunk into my head. A technician must have complained about not getting a tip and I was the only black person at the table (1 out of 6) so it had to be me. What else can I conclude? That hurts on numerous levels. On top of that I was mortified by the accusation in front of everybody else. Never again, they lost my business forever. read more

Avoid this place they are scammers!! I went in to get a gel pedicure but asked to add on a 10 min massage so the woman tells me the peppermint pedicure includes a 10 min massage. The sign said $55 so I said fine. After the pedicure I go up to pay and the woman proceeds to tell me that it's $55 for the peppermint pedicure and $55 for the gel pedicure which is $110 but they were giving me a $20 discount making my total $90!!! I said there's no way I just wanted a gel pedicure with a 10 min massage. She tried explaining to me what the prices meant but I said you're basically charging me $55 for getting gel polish instead of regular polish. I've been getting gel pedicures for the past few years and know gel polish is usually maybe $10/15 extra at most. After going back and forth for 10 minutes she agreed to charge me $75. Still ridiculous for a gel pedicure. I will never be going back there again!! read more

The ladies who actually administer the services are very nice and do a very nice job. The woman who runs the place is curt, rude and a bit of a liar. I have two young and very well behaved girls and I've brought them with me a couple of times, the times I will actually go here. The first time they made my six year old feel unwelcome and a chore. Today they demanded to know their ages and when they found out one was eight years old demanded she pay full price as is if she's an adult and out of place. Fine but then when I thought they were over looking my younger daughter, she said, Sorry ma'am, these other woman (who she seated before my youngest) had appts. Okay. Well a friend of mine popped in a few minutes later to make appts for her girls later that day and that same delightful nasty lady said, Sorry miss, we don't take appts. HUH, really?! Now I tell you this place is literally a 30 second walk from my house but I will walk halfway uptown to another salon before I will go to this salon. The ONLY reason we went today is a friend said they line the tubs, which is great but NOT worth the ugly attitude. She's also pretty cranky with her employees as well. If an overall peaceful and relaxing environment is part of what you're looking for, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is that her employees are kind. read more

Terrible Service! I went in for a polish change. They refused to give it to me unless I paid for a full manicure. I argued w/ the manager politely and she refused to let me have what I wanted! She told me I could leave if I didn't abide by there rules! Insane. Never in my life. So I stayed for the manicure bcuz I was leaving for vacation. Terrible job! We set up our appointments at the same time in person an hour earlier, told them we wanted pedicures together so we could talk, and came in together in person so they knew we wanted to have our pedicures together. They did not take my friend until 30 minutes after they had started my pedicure. They continued to upsell additional services during the pedicure, which was annoying, and then sent me to the drying area with no instruction. Even the after-drying polish was not applied until I asked for it. The polish started to chip and peel within a few days. (My friend had a similar experience with her nails.) I found the whole experience to be a big waste of time and money. I made a same day reservation for three people and they were able to take all of us right away. It's actually quite a large salon - 8 pedicure chairs and 9 manicure chairs. Everything felt very clean with covid measures. The pedicures come with hot stones, which is a huge bonus for me since not many salons add this in. Short stubby nails needs not apply. I admit this used to be my go-to and I was VERY impressed with their COVID safety measures but they have compromised in service. I went in for a powder dip manicure. I was immediatly told it would be difficult because of my stubby nails - first of 5 salons to tell me this Since I had had it done at so many other salons, I could tell something was off during the manicure but gave them the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't until she nearly let me walk out, with a blemish on not one 1-2 but 8/10 fingers. Blemish meaning spots or specs on my nails, rough edges, edges with no polish, etc. They were especially frustrated with me and I waited for her to redo the 8 nails and even for her to do 2 for a second time. A great new addition to the ever-growing list of Hoboken nail salons. The spot was extremely clean, had a good selection of organized colors, and had modern and high end finishes incorporated into the design of the place. My friend and I had called ahead for an appointment, which they happily booked. We opted for mani/pedis which totalled $35, $5 more expensive than most other Hoboken salons. In the pedicure, the $5 was justified as the Atelier "standard" pedi finished with a hot stone massage and a paraffin wax treatment on our heals. The nail technicians were very thorough and spoke very clear english. My technician became distracted by her phone twice but apologized to me both times. The owner/GM was very involved in everyone's experience and applied drying oil to our perfectly polished fingers and toesies before we left. Because they just had their grand opening, I have a few suggestions that would help make the salon better -- 1) The purpose of going to a nail salon is to relax while getting pampered...Dateline is not the best choice of shows to have playing to promote a relaxing environment. 2) I understand that nail technicians have personal emergencies, but please stress that they should stay off of their phones while performing services. Overall, a nice place that I will return to...hopefully they will keep their level of service and cleanliness elevated. read more
