I live in the area and I've been coming to Lynda's for YEARS. I'm an easy customer, I come in periodically for a gel pedicure and sometimes I'll do a gel mani as well. This week was the last straw for me and I won't be coming back. First the positives: the prices are reasonable. It's a convenient neighborhood location. The decor inside isn't too remarkable but it isn't run down either. The massage chairs at the pedicure stations are always in working order and they use disposable bags in the basin/sink area. The mani stations are also decent enough. One of the techs, Coco, is such a sweet woman and does excellent work. The negatives: I've been looking for a more elevated nail experience in the JC area for the past year or so. It's one of the few things I do for self care and I deserve it dammit! Lynda's is NOT that place. As an aside, I'll be giving Cuticles on West Side a try the next time I get my nails done. Another negative: LEE! I believe he's the newest tech and the first time he did my feet, he dug in extra hard talking about I have ingrown toenails. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE IN ALL MY YEARS GETTING MY FEET DONE! Trust me, I'm very familiar with ingrown nails and that is something I just do not suffer from. But according to Lee, this was the reason he had to be thorough enough to draw blood and cause me pain. On top of that, the pedicure was SUBPAR. Fast forward to me coming in this week (I was in a pinch bc I had already sworn off Lynda from the last time). I sat down for my pedi and in conversation with another patron, I didn't realize Lee had already sat to start my pedi. I protested immediately! I was instead gaslit by the workers there, they said "no Lee is good, don't worry about it." Honestly, if it wasn't for the patron who was a fellow NYer (he co-signed for Lee) I would have waited for someone else. No surprise here, Lee went to work on my "ingrown toenails" and when I pulled my foot away because he was hurting me, he pulled my foot back towards him talking about "no, you need this." He made several other faux pas during the service, including a sanitary violation and let's just say I've had enough. I currently can't tiptoe/bend my toes because it is too painful. Definitely a very tight atmosphere but overall they know what they are doing. I paid about $78 for acrylic gel with the design & a pedicure. To me it seemed a little over priced but they know how to do nails well and considering how long they lasted (I got tips that lasted 4 weeks and never chipped-- even through camping!) Came in here on a Saturday afternoon for a walk in appointment. Although it was packed, I only had to wait about 15 minutes. I came in for a gel mani and pedi which was about $65. This is not my normal go to location and I was just happy they were able to get me in quickly. The lady who did my nails was very nice. I just felt bad that since they were trying to get everyone in quickly, after doing my pedicure, she moved me to a different chair where she was basically on the floor finishing up. My gel mani and pedi has been lasting for over about 2 weeks now. I would definitely recommend bringing your own tools since I didn't see any sign of barbicide anywhere in the salon (this is probably something that should be done at any salon considering they probably reuse tools on everyone without properly sanitizing them first.) read more

I decided to give this spot another try but this time for acrylics. I must say, I have not been disappointed. My nails always look good and they take their time. I have seen all the nail techs and they are all good. I do sometimes have issues with nails breaking even though I am not rough with my hands but that can happen at any salon. I docked a star because sometimes my nails get air bubbles a day or two after I leave. Would still recommend for acrylics if in the area. read more

At the end of the most normal and fast pedi ever ( no extras at all) I asked why the extra $$ she said :" your feet dry" . Once it was time to pay not only there were the $5 extra but I asked isn't mani pedi $45 as the sign says ( the sign was just there ) , answer" no is $48. I left $10 tip, look at the pics, 3 days later. By the way I was in meetings all 3 days ( no dish washing, no husework, no typing or any other manual labor) just talking to people.This is a bad bad job, I can do better by myself! THEY ARE ANNOYED AND DON'T WANT PEOPLE THERE, WELL ,I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!! Loved how she was able to retain my acrylic coffin shape and she did a GREAT job on keep them thin as I hate chunky nails, however the paint job (which is usually the easy part) was eh. Had a few streaks, uneven bumps and tiny air bubbles but I think it was in part to the polish being a little dried up. A bit annoying because I paid the extra $10 for gel so it could come out perfect, but the defects are not to the point others will notice. Will be returning! read more

This is the absolute best nail salon I've ever been to. I have been to a million salons and none of them have ever done my nails as well as Ana from Lynda's nails did. I got a full acrylic set with a gel color all for 35$!! Not only was the price unbeatable, the nails stayed on for 6 entire weeks. I have been to salons that charged me 60$ for a set just for the set to start lifting off within a few days. Ana was so friendly and she honestly did an amazing job. She was fast yet made sure I liked the outcome. It was also easy to find parking. Overall, great experience and will definitely be my new nail spot. read more

Then you call for a specific service, for example manicure and pedicure which got raised to $40 but then you get there and they are like we do not have nail dryers so you have to pay $55 to make it gel. Which is crazy but your already there so you say fine. Then they look at your nails and say the gel manicure wont last you need a full set . Now its $75. Wow. I would have done it but i was pressured last time into that to only have my nails start coming off at a little over a week. I used to have alot of respect for them. Now i truly disappointed and feel disrespected.They no longer accept debit or credit cards. Only cash. They even built an Atm. It's absolutely outrageous. CoCo is the best and when she is working you know because there is a long line just for her and its crowded... she does quick and flawless brows (She's the ONLY one that does my eyebrows) ... her manicures are dope. She is a GEM and if I wasnt so lazy/cheap to travel to jc I would just for her! Don't get it twisted the other girls are pretty good at what they do but they don't do it as good as CoCo and she's the best I ever had! I use to always go when I went to spu but now I settle for a mediocre spot in my city. A lot of people know about CoCo so you'll wait (especially on weekends and afternoons!!!) and wait and wait and.... wait but when she is done with you... you know what just call and ask if she's working and go in and see for yourself. terrible, they used a machine just to take out my transparent nail polish wherein they can just use acetone, that lead on having my nails have bumps and white marks. the crack with one of my nail they glued it recklessly it sticked on my skin now its 2 days passed and still red and hurting. Came back the following day after the incident to have them fix it, and they couldn't fix the damage that i had to tell them to put darker color so it'll be covered and they wanted to charge me for that. They are very rude and yelling and talking with their language. The lady keep telling me its my nails, its my nails faulttt where in it's like that on the first place because of what they did. Cathy who works here assaulted me because she made the incorrect assumption that the cash I paid (a $20 in compliance with their rule of no cards on Sunday) was counterfeit. It was not, which goes without saying. But after the accusation was made, she demanded I leave my phone and take more money out of the ATM and proceeded to push me three (3) times in the stomach. As I moved past her to exit after telling her I was not withdrawing more money she ripped up the $20 and threw it out of the door. I can only believe she made such an incorrect assumption because I am a Black woman, the same reason why she thought it was appropriate to put her hands on me. By all means, if you're interested in a subpar manicure, allegations of counterfeit cash, and assault along with your mani pedi, check this place out but if you'd like to avoid all three, avoid at all costs. I've only been here twice after someone recommended it to me. I go to school around there and didn't want to go back to my hometown every two weeks to get my nails done, so I bit the bullet and went here with no knowledge of how they were going to do. The first time I went I got acrylic tips. When asked how long I wanted them, I said not too short, not too long. In my opinion she made them way too long. This wasn't the issue. The tips lasted me almost a whole month before they started chipping off. When I went back, I decided to take off the tips and just get a gel manicure. This is where the issue were. It took almost an hour to just take off my tips, where as my normal salon can usually do it for a lot less time. After taking off the acrylic and then gel nail polish, my nails were extremely weak (which is normal for me) but she wasn't even going to cut them down so they wouldn't break even further. I had to ask her to cut them. After applying the gel nail polish (which she did unevenly) some of my nails started to break even further and were very jagged, which she did nothing about. When she was done, she added an oil to my cuticles but didn't tell me to wash it off, or rub it in when she gave me a hand massage, so I was basically walking around getting my face, hair, and purse all oily. I went only a few days ago and my nail polish is already chipping and gel manicures are supposed to last for 2 weeks. I rather make my bi monthly trips home then continue going here. read more

I've been going to this nail salon for years the wait is always ridiculous i always let the older male tony do them now because i went a few times trying to let the other staff do them and it was not good at all it was like a rush job. My husband came with me about twice and hated the way Tony talked to me when i try to tell him what i like or dislike or what to fix, yesterday i was there trying to explain to him that if you look closely it looks like i need a fill in already he tells me he will fix it later. I've told him this July times and he has yet to fix it i keep goin back because my nails last as far as them not popping off. Today i went in to fix the nail polish on my toes because it smudge little. So the lady told me to sit down and have a seat i did that as i waited i asked tony "Hey is this nail polish remover?" He got up out of his seat as if he was not helping a customer and yelled at me " i am not giving you acetone or remover you have to wait or you can go home " i said I'm sorry i was just here yesterday i just wanted to take the polish off of my nails while i wait and why are you talking to me like that and trying to kick me out when i asked a simple question, i also said to him i was just in here yesterday and spend $70 he cut me off and said i don't care if you spend $1000.00 you don't wait you can go home so i said i don't know what type of day you are having but i did nothing to you and i am not talking to you like that so don't talk to me like that and i don't have a problem waiting but why you keep trying to kick me out.
