I have a back with an insane amount of knots and tension from years of being an athlete. I booked a massage with Eddy and did a deep tissue add on. This place is AMAZING!!! They have a wonderful collection of all natural skincare products and a really relaxing, chill vibe. It's an excellent and really unique day spa right in the middle of beautiful downtown JC. Huge shout-out to Trish for my totally "treat yo'self" Blue Moon foot bath. It was the most heavenly 30min I've had in a long time. First, she asked me what kind of vibe and scents I prefer, then she selected a combination of aromatherapeutic ingredients (essential oils, Butterfly Pea tea) for the foot bath. Then, I got comfy on some pillows and soaked my tootsies for a while, enjoying the soothing hot (but not too hot!) water and aromas from the bath. While that was percolating, I received a soothing hand massage (always my favorite part of a manicure!) with some fancy all natural lotion. Then the attention was turned back to my feet. I received an incredible sugar scrub on my calves and feet to exfoliate the skin and help with circulation, before moving on to a wonderful foot massage that nearly put me to sleep! Then, the treatment wrapped up with some nice hot towels to finish. Needless to say, this was a blissful respite from city living, and in a really warm, welcoming, and relaxing space. Couldn't recommend any higher--you MUST visit Gaia's Cavern for a foot bath if you're in need of a little "me time," or visiting from out of town and want a special treat for the day. I visited for a 60 min swedish massage with Eddy - it was heavenly; I'm still floating from it almost 2 weeks later! I loved that they had a late appt (6 pm) that for my schedule. And the overall vibe of GC is so welcoming. Eddy was very accommodating; I wanted to focus on the usual pain points (should/neck, lower back) but shockingly discovered that my legs are more tense than I thought! I had a cupping appt 2 days before and he made sure to work around any areas that were still red. There were so many little magical details Eddy incorporated - the aromatherapy - heated wraps for feet/hands/face - great music - close attention to destressing all the large/small muscle groups. It was a massage I didn't know I needed until I felt how weightless my body was afterwards. Can't wait to go back for another and to explore other treatments on the menu. I've gotten cheaper Eminence facials but I guess the cost is a part of it being in NYC metro area. Aretha is a pleasure and we have the best time during the facial. I had gone in hoping for a quick facial but instead ended up spending 350$ for my facial :). While I'm sure it did good to my skin I'm always weary of going to places where I'm pushed into getting something which I did not really sign up for. I had the most pampering foot bath with Trish last week! Gaia's Cavern is a beautiful spa complete with handmade bath products and relaxing sounds. Trish used the handmade lotions to massage my hands and feet during the foot bath. I chose the Detox bath, which consisted of a citrus, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, rosemary essential oil soak. I wish I could give this place and Aretha more stars than just 5. I started seeing Aretha I don't even know how many years ago - let's just say 7 - in Chicago where she worked at a spa. I started for waxing and would get occasional facials. Before my wedding in 2015, she convinced me to do regular facials (1x per month) and it was the BEST INVESTMENT! Not only did my skin look better than I ever thought it could, but she also was honest with me about where I should invest in terms of products. I moved to Manhattan in 2016 and would even wait to get facials until I was back in Chicago for work. When she told me she was moving to NJ and would be working in a new spa, I was SO EXCITED. I have tried a lot of places in Manhattan but can't get over how comfortable she makes me feel and how much I absolutely trust her with my skin. Getting to Jersey City from Flatiron/chelsea is basically easier than it is for me to get uptown so I will be going here regularly and I'm so excited to have my glowing skin back. The wax she uses is high quality and organic. The ambience is also cozy and relaxing. I have sensitive skin and Aretha was very gentle with my facial and it was wonderful. This place is amazing! A little tranquil, welcoming place. As soon as you walk in you start to feel good. It's a little hideaway of happiness. I've been here twice already. I've had a facial, a foot bath, and a reiki treatment done. Aretha, the esthetician is wonderful! She knew exactly what my skin needed. The extractions were painless, the entire thing was just a great experience. I got the Chai foot bath. It was the perfect way to bring in the fall, it was so beautiful and smelled so good I wanted to drink it! The scrub I received was thorough and comforting to my tired feet. My feet were moisturized and happy once done. This was my first experience with Reiki. Lindsey made me feel very comfortable before, during, and after. She took her time with me, she told me what to do in order to improve what needed improvement. I felt very relaxed after the session and am looking forward to my next session. I loved the grapefruit and ginger scents all freshly made. Such a great massage too! Opt for the paraffin for extra softness and hydration. The front desk helped me pick out lip balm and a beautiful scented and natural soap. Also went home with a hand poured candle in a vintage vessel . Highly recommend to relax and shop.
