I feel like I'm dropping in on friends when I come to Spa Blue. The atmosphere is so welcoming and everyone is friendly. And the excellence of all the services and staff is icing on the cake! I recently added facials and massages after years of getting cut and color from Naheed. I am in heaven and always feel refreshed and relaxed after a session with Lucy! I can't say enough about how great Spa Blue is! Front desk, stylists, literally everyone is top notch!

    Blonde Balayage

Hector and his team are most excellent! I have been getting my hair done here for 3 years, this is the best place for a balayage in town. Service is always impeccable, everyone is so nice, and my hair looks so wonderful. I used to be a brunette but now I'm blonde! Whether you need a blow out, highlights, hair Botox, or curls, this is the right place to come to.

This review is SOLELY based on the owner and his lack of professionalism. I can't even believe that Ive experienced what I am about to share. I went in last night for a massage, manicure and blowout. The massage was outstanding. The manicure was eh. The hair was eh + blah. A prom student was in his chair before I was up and she looked so unimpressed, her hair was flat and limp and my heart went out to her as I could see in her eyes that she wanted something special and this was not that. not.at.all. But my review is about professionalism or lack there of at this establishment. I called and booked 3 services and asked for pricing on the massage before booking and I was told it was $60 as part of a promotion that they are running- I agreed and booked my appointment for all services. When I was in the room about to get my massage therapist asked which kind of massage I wanted, and I replied "Swedish, whatever I booked" is fine. she then asked if I would like aromatherapy and I said yes still again I followed up with "whatever I booked is fine" You can guess what happened next. I get to the register and my $60 massage is now $80 because she used an oil that made it cost more. HUH???!!! I I asked the owner why this was not explained to me in the massage room so that I would've had the choice to either upgrade my service with the essential oil's or keep the standard massage without the aromatherapy. She causally asked as if it was a matter of preference in oils, which is how I understood it. how in the world would I have known that her asking me if I wanted aromatherapy would've meant a $20 extra charge. This was not clear and sneaky in my opinion. after going back-and-forth with the owner over $20 I decided to cut my losses and let them have it because I had to get home to my family...it wasn't worth my time and I could see that the owner was completely in a bubble not trying to see it from any angle but his. fast forward now I'm swiping my credit card for the $80 massage the $65 blowout and the $20 manicure. I signed the receipt, I leave the tips in the envelopes and the owner pulls out a $20 bill from the register and hands it over to me. I think he felt underneath it all that I was right and I didn't make a big fuss over it so it made him do the right thing. l took the $20 said thank you and walked out. --------NOW------- **here is what prompted me to write this review** I honestly was letting it go but here is where boundaries were crossed yet again. I just received a phone call from the massage therapist regarding the $20!!!! The owner gave my number to the massage therapist so she could yell about the $20. She says hello this is such in such from spa blue the owner told me that you made him give you your $20 back! that's lie #2 I never requested the money back, I simply explained how it should have been stated before the service so I could make an informed decision. I was trying to respond with what actually happened but could not get a word out as she was clearly very upset... maybe because he docked $20 from her pay.. who knows? I'm stunned at the level of immaturity and lack of professionalism from a business owner. The call lasted one min as I cannot spend time indulging in negativity. Here is the proof of the call in case the owner tries to deny this call ever happened. HAIR: Please use GLAMSQUAD as they are always professional or the hairroom JC, they are so creative, and professional. Massage: Massage Envy is only $60 always. No promos needed and they use aromatherapy for FREEEEEEEE and a legit establishment with a corporate backing that will always make it right and never release private information. This should have been handled with care and professionalism by the owner himself NOT a staff member. Stay away from this establishment. Services are subpar with an NYC price tag.

My hair has heat damage, i'm considering getting a curly perm. Do you guys do perms to get curls?

Hi! We do perms but if you have a heat damage or dry hair I will not suggest to do a perm at all.

Do all facial treatments include extractions?

Hi! Yes our facial includes 10 min extraction but just in an hour facials.

I will say that, like most spas, the experience can depend on the masseuse you receive, but mine was very positive. Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. When she realized I saw her, she hid the phone under the sheets. There is no version of this that is acceptable. Texting during a paid massage is blatant misconduct. It didn't stop there. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.

She set me up with some calming tea and brought me to a private changing area with a locker for my belongings. Everyone in the vicinity checked in to make sure I was doing ok. I was worried that because I had arrived late, I would eat up some of my massage time. No siree! They moved my massage to start when I was ready to begin. I booked the 90 minute Nuansa classic massage. You know how some places start the clock before you've sat down and finish the massage early (aka you pay for an hour and it's only about 45 minutes)? Well! That's not the case here! I got all 90 minutes of my massage. The massage itself: not to be believed. Lukkana started by saying "time to relax". And boy did I. Let me tell you one thing about me - I have the most ticklish legs of anyone I've ever met. Usually, when I have my legs massaged, I kick a hole in the wall and the masseuse files for a lawsuit (this is an exaggeration). Well! Somehow, Lukkana was able to work the muscles in my leg without triggering my dainty ticklish reflexes. I was astonished! Then, you know how sometimes you ask for a firm touch and you get jelly hands? Or the other way around and you're walking out with bruises? WELL - Lukkana made me feel immensely relaxed WHILE ALSO really working the tissue. What a novelty. She finished up with a scalp massage, which is truly the way to my heart. 11 out of 10. Would recommend. Thank you so much for making my day.

He had planned an evening of theatre, but I absolutely enjoy a chill evening+homemade brunch and wellness activities. He's been to AIRE prior, and I've had many massages locally in LA prior and always opt for the hot stone massage, this time couples massage which is what we did. It was cozy, relaxing, decompressing, and aromatic! Esp, on a snowy, 16 degrees outside wintery kinda Xmas holiday season. What a delight! We began our evening walking from the West Village, then upon entering Aire being greeted with warm tea my absolute fav drink besides an iced matcha. We were given wristbands and headed to our keyless entry lockers to robe up and descend into the jacuzzi, sauna, and cold plunge pools. It Feels like entering a gorgeous gothic cave. Thanks for a wonderful HBD evening, into night. What a beautiful, relaxing, healthy experience. It's the best, truly! Merry Christmas guys.

I've been back to AIRE dozens of time since my original review in 2013 (both TriBeca and uptown,…read morebut mainly TriBeCa location). For the most part, we have always enjoyed our experience - it never felt super crowded and the pools were always nice and relaxing to enjoy, as well as the steam room located in the center of the pools. It's a beautiful space. Massages continue to be mixed however --- my husband always wants a harder massage, while I ask for a lighter touch. He claims they never go as hard as he wants. My last massage there was fantastic. They renovated the space last year, and have run some promos recently and on our last visit it was noticeably more crowded, more than I had ever experienced before. I can only guess it is due to these two factors. We had an hour long massage, which I was extra happy about because I would've been frustrated being in those packed pools for the full 90 mins (massage was good, see above). The steam room was packed, some pools filled with large groups of people, etc. And it was tough finding space at the vanity to get ready afterward, which I'd also never experienced before. Add to this that they were fixing one of the new plunge pools while we were there, and during our massage they twice dropped tools resulting in very loud sounds which echoed into massage rooms which were located nearby. I don't think it was a wise choice to have that work done while guests were there, considering the setting of tranquility they are trying to create. Considering all the above, we have decided to take a break from AIRE, at least the TriBeca location. I brought these issues to the attention of management there and they have apologized with a discount.
