After one week and I just got done cleaning for hours using bleach !!!

Ok so I read all the reviews etc. I DM'd her the day of and she was super friendly and was able to get me in to a 6p appointment. For everyone complaining, you had to have done something (respectfully). All she asks is you show up on time. She was AMAZING. I typically get my nails done in Florida and wait until I'm there but I was in a crunch. The quality work superb and I'm EXTRA EXTRA particular so much that people won't do my nails and she handled my asks seamlessly. I am scared of the drill and she was patient. My nails look like I just got them done and it's been a week. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't go here, just don't be late or rude. Also, the shop isn't on Bergen, it's to the side down a street to the right hand side (I couldn't find it)

I decided to try out Jenny for the first time after all the nice reviews. The nails did not disappoint! They look pretty natural, are all consistent on both hands, and I was in and out in less than an hour. It's $60 for a full acrylic set with gel polish (CASH ONLY), which is way less than what most salons charge as they do mediocre jobs most of the time. I don't think I'll be going to anyone other than Jenny for acrylics after today! The entrance is on Smith St, and the door is pretty inconspicuous. There are no signs. The person below me who calls the street and building "sketchy" ... this isn't downtown JC so it isn't going to be all glitz and glamour. There is nothing sketchy about the place at all if you're familiar with the area. I think we all know what they're referring to when they call a non-affluent place sketchy... lol. Go someplace else with that attitude.

The overall experience was great. The bad reviews scared me to go a little, but when I showed up she was super sweet, and she works super efficiently with great quality. I made her go a little out of her comfort zone with the design I wanted, but she delivered and it came out amazing.

I've been to Jenny twice, I didn't have a super terrible experience but probably won't be returning. The other reviews rave about her, they're right to an extent, but it's completely gone to her head lol. As all the other reviews say, she's GREAT with general technique and shaping. My almond shaped acrylics were beautiful and lasted 4 weeks! The issue comes in with preference. She's pretty opinionated and rigid when it comes to anything modern, which was a turn off for me. She took offense to me wanting to put a design over "HER beautiful nail shape"...even though they're on my body lol. We compromised (which I shouldn't have to do when I'm paying) but I still left unhappy with the result. See attached photo for inspo v reality. On my second visit, I decided to go with a plain color to avoid any tension. Go figure, the color ended up being completely different in the sun. She got pretty snappy when I asked her to change it (I offered to pay for it of course)...she wouldn't change it and literally "yeah yeah yeah"d me out of the door. I ended up going to a random shop who were perfectly fine taking my money and giving me what I asked for.

It took all of 4 minutes meeting Jenny for the first time for me to know I would never go anywhere else. Not only is she a master at her craft, she is one of the most humble, open hearted, hardworking, dedicated, perseverant people I have ever met. You walk in a stranger and leave a friend. She cares so much about what she does and her standards for her work are unparalleled. Her work should cost $120, easy, but you get SO much better for HALF the cost. If it made someone happy she wouldn't take a dime from them. Truly just a wonderful person and most fantastic nail artist I've ever met. It's rare to exceed my expectations. I don't go out of my way to write reviews. But she deserves it. Do not judge a book by its cover or you will miss out on every level. Jenny's location is humble, it's everything she needs and that's how she's mastered it. To her it's about giving anyone who walks in the door exactly what they came in for, but 10x better than the Pinterest or Instagram screenshot. She is simply lovely and the best I've ever met. I just moved from Brooklyn to Jersey City and was nervous to try a new nail salon... let me tell you I am so glad I took a chance on Jenny and Nails by Jenny!! After spending over $100 on average nails in Brooklyn, my jaw dropped when Jenny gave me the best manicure I've ever had for $60. I've seriously never had a nail technician put so much time and detail into making my nails look perfect. Jenny is so kind and takes such pride in her work, 10/10 recommend that you try Nails by Jenny!

Honestly, the experience was fantastic. I've gotten acrylic only a handful of times and Jenny is truly in a league of her own. She took her time, even though it was late and I'm sure she wanted to end the night. She really did an amazing job of shaping my nail just the way I wanted it, filing it to the right length, and laying down the acrylic neatly and efficiently. Absolutely loved Jenny and her work. I booked with her for the first time today. Beforehand, I read the reviews and was a little skeptical, but I didn't let that deter me, and I'm so glad I didn't. She was amazing: super kind, super welcoming, and her work was impeccable. no notes at all. She has zero tolerance for BS, and some people don't like that (which is clearly where the negative reviews come from). She's raw, authentic, and incredibly talented. I love nails by Jenny! I was traveling to another city to a larger nail salon for a while, but Jenny does the best acrylic for the best price and is also good with most designs. I got chrome nails at my first visit and absolutely loved them. On my next two visits, I brought pictures of designs and she made them her own, being honest on designs that she wasn't sure she'd be able to do well, but I've always left with my nails looking fantastic. read more

Jenny is the Sweetest and kindest ever!! I have been going to Jenny for maybe about a year now and I wouldn't change her!! She is a PRO in acrylic nails and they are very strong and long lasting! I typically don't write a lot of reviews, but, I felt that Jenny really deserves one bc she is very dedicated to what she does and does it so very well. The salon is not a big fancy salon, in which, I don't really care bc I'm there for her work. She does a great job and her prices are reasonable. I have been to the fancy salons where in three days my nail polish and nails have chipped. Jenny is very punctual and there is no wait time and that's why she expects us to be punctual and on time... bc.. she gets to you at the exact time you book YOUR appointment. She accommodates everyone's needs and just expects you to be on time for YOUR appointment so she can accommodate YOU. That's all to it. She is very attentive to what she does and does it so neatly and carefully. Jenny is fun and great to talk and conversation with while enjoying my nails getting done. Jenny does an amazing job and the nails last forever. Mine for example never chip and the only reason I redo is when they get too long. It's a no-frills place but she only takes one customer per hour so you get focused service and she is able to give a great price for it. read more

Since moving to Journal Square 4 years ago, I am so so grateful to have stumbled upon Jenny. I work in NYC and everyone I know is always complimenting how natural and gorgeous my nails look! She is very rude and the place is located on a very sketchy looking side of a sketchy building. Even that's fine, if the inside were super clean and welcoming. However, it is in fact the opposite, everything looks like it has collected dust for decades and it does not look sanitary whatsoever. I wanted to walk right back out of there as soon as I walked inside and saw the place. BUT, the nice and sympathetic side of me decided to give her a chance. The woman does good work, but the entire experience of having to sit with her for an hour while she makes every rude and sarcastic comment in the book, made me very uncomfortable. Still I kept trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. When we were done, I simply asked her (very nicely) if by any chance she offers pedicures. Her answer was "do you see any pedicure machines around here?!"... not in a light- hearted joking way but once again in a dark, rude and sarcastic way. I ran out of there the second my nails dried! It has been months and I still cannot shake off how bad interacting with her was! read more

Initially when I left the shop I was going really give a positive review. I had no issue with my nails when she was finished, however when I got home and I noticed my nails were chipping. By the end of the day all of my nails on my left hand were chipped. I've never had airbrushed nails and I will never get them again. It's been less than a week since I got my nails done and it looks ive had these nails for weeks. I wasted $45 and I now have to go elsewhere to get a whole new set. read more

There's a reason why Jenny has so many great reviews. Her whole in the wall place is perfect, just you and Jenny at your scheduled time. Jenny is SKILLED. She's quick and efficient. She's a PRO. My nails lasted sooooo long. Go to Jenny for an acrylic set! My full acrylic set WITH tips AND gel polish AND sparkle was $55 total. Honestly can't beat that price for this work. Jenny is the best she ended up taking me back thanks for unpunishing me. Lesson learn I am never calling out because your the best nail tech in Jersey City! Due to COVID, Jenny has been on top of taking everyone's temperature as soon as they walk in, sending people to wash there has right after and cleaning the area and chair you'll be sitting in. Higiene is impeccable. She only works with acrylics so done come here for a regular mani and pedi. read more

I went to Jenny for the first time today for a fill and I could not be happier! You can definitely tell she's been doing nails for a long time by how much effort and detail she puts into everything. The shape is perfect and she even took the time to seal up some lift I had underneath my nails from the tips I had on previously. She cares so much about the quality of her work. I went from having really thick and wide acrylics that I wasn't too happy with to beautiful thin (but sturdy) nails, it was a full on transformation. She makes great conversation and is very friendly. The time flew by and I've never left a salon so happy with my experience! It's 100% worth the trip from Hoboken with the money I saved and the service I got. I'll be recommending Jenny to anyone I know that has acrylics! :) read more

I traveled in town on business, and as luck would have it banged my nail getting off the plane. I was stuck with a lifted nail, and I was sure that I would end up breaking it before the weekend came. So, I started looking on yelp. As soon as I saw the reviews for this place, I set my alarm to wake up in time to try to get an appointment. Not only does she take her time, but she has great conversation and is a veteran in the business. Whenever I am in town I will come and see her. Today was the first time I've been to Jenny's and let me just say I am so happy to have met her. She made great conversation: it was like talking to a friend and there was never an uncomfortable moment. Her salon is no frills so if you're expecting something glamorous then look elsewhere but if you want beautiful looking nails then this is the place to be. I left extremely happy and satisfied. She gave me exactly what I requested and the price is on point. I will definitely be back. Note: the entrance to her shop is on Smith street and not the hair salon on 880 Bergen. It is the 3rd door down on Smith. Cash only. Be on time or early for your appointment as she does precise work and you easily finish within an hour. read more

She listened to exactly what I wanted, helped me pick out the perfect shade of light pink and nailed the shape which I'm very particular about! Jenny is the best!! I've been coming to her faithfully for about a year now and I have zero complaints!! She always shapes my nails just how I like them! And does a great job. She's always friendly.. prices are fair.. and quality is on point. I wouldn't trade her ; ) By appointment only, so make sure to call ahead of time. Jenny is not a nail technician, she's a nail magician!! I came in with a bad acrylic job done in Cambodia and she reassured me she could fix it without removing the old set. I trusted her and she delivered!! She is so down to earth, funny, and easy to talk to. She didn't try to scam me like other nail places would do. I wanted ballerina shape nails with a French ombré design and that is exactly what I got. A little hole in the wall and definitely a new favorite for me. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to get acrylics, Jenny is your girl! She is a 1 women show so you get a private appointment in her salon (especially nice during a pandemic!). Jenny has a high attention to detail, and my nails always come out looking amazing! I used to get gel and it would always chip within 1-2 weeks, but now that I have been going to Jenny I can get affordable acrylics that last 3-4 weeks! Great selection of gel colors and also does airbrush. Her appointments are in 1 hour time slots all day so don't be late or you will mess up her whole schedule. Officially found my new nail beautician! Made a 7pm appointment. Being somewhat familiar with the area I knew parking would be a bit of a hassle. Must of been my lucky day because I found a spot right in front of the shop. Parking was totally not a hassle! Yet regardless of that, I recommend to always attempt to arrive 10-15 mins earlier to give you that extra time to look for parking. I was happily greeted and within minutes of arriving I was attended. Love that this place is by appointments only. As Jenny worked on my nails she was great walking me through the process. I've gone to sooo many different nail salons in my life and Jenny by far is the best quality I've experienced. My nails never fall off, the polish always stays perfect & I'm constantly complimented about my manicure. I use my hands a lot at work (bartending) & my nails always stay beautiful which I really appreciate, especially when being photographed. Her pricing is amazing for the quality of her work as well. I read a recent negative review and felt I had to put my opinion here for all to see. Jenny doesn't smoke weed but likes to take a puff of her vaporizer, and in the two years I've been going to her, only does so by her front door when I'm washing my hands before we polish the nails. I love that I can sit there and have good conversation with her. She also likes to have the tv on sometimes for her clients & we love watching house flipper shows. Payment is cash only and luckily there is a Bank of America atm right next door which has been convenient when I forgot to take cash with me. If I could give Jenny more than 5 stars I absolutely would. She runs her business solo & her work has been nothing short of exceptional for me every single time. She takes her time & I appreciate her attention to detail. I also see the good relationships she has with other clients when I come in and she's finishing up with them, even outside of her salon I've met customers who go to her too. Every single one was laughing with her, or about her & were happy with her work. It's important to me to have a good relationship with whoever is touching my hair, skin or nails so I really appreciate that it's a two way street of respect with her. You get what you give 100%! I just moved to New Jersey and was looking for a new nail tech in the area. I called Jenny and she was able to fit me into her early morning Saturday schedule. As soon I walked in Jenny cleaned and sanitized everything for me right after her other client left. Jenny is the friendliest and nicest nail tech I have ever met. Jenny was super personable, funny, and offered good advice on nail style and color. It was my first time with acrylics and her work made me feel glamorous. The nails came out great and lasted a long time with no chipping whatsoever. However, the drill she used nicked my cuticle on my ring finger a little. You can see a small hint of blood in the picture. The nails were also a tad too thick for my liking. The longer they got, the thicker they looked. Removal was a pain and my natural nails were ruined. It took maybe 7-8 months for them to return to normal. I do not fault Jenny for this. I will probably never do acrylics again based on maintenance and the removal process but would recommend Jenny if you are used to acrylics and the upkeep. Just don't be late for your appointments or cancel last minute as a courtesy and out of respect for her time. She runs a very tight ship! read more

The pedicure felt rushed--while they did cut and file the nails and trim the cuticles, that was the extent of it. There was no real cleaning done, like removing dry skin or buildup from under the nails, which is something I've always expected as a basic part of a pedicure. Things went further downhill during the manicure. After prepping my nails, the technician asked which base color I wanted for the French manicure. When I looked down at my nails, I was shocked to see they were covered in white scratches and marks. My nails were bare when I walked in, and it was clear the damage was from overly aggressive filing of the nail beds. When I politely pointed this out, instead of taking responsibility, the owner gave me a series of dismissive explanations--blaming the condition of my nails on the fact that I hadn't been to the salon in a while, implying I must have done something to them beforehand, and finally saying they were "super dry" (which somehow justified the scratches). None of these made sense, and at that point, I decided I didn't feel comfortable continuing with the manicure. What made it worse was that they had already applied and cured the gel top coat. When I asked how they planned to remove it without further damaging my already painful nails, they proceeded to attempt to soak them in acetone--despite just claiming my nails were too dry. In the end, I paid for a mediocre pedicure and walked out with sore, scratched nails. There was no apology or effort to make things right. This visit was disappointing on all fronts--lack of professionalism, poor technique, and zero accountability. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Personally, I have been going to Jenny since September. She is nothing short of an absolute delight, has great conversation with you, does amazing work, and is absolutely hilarious to sit with for an hour while she does your nails. She works alone, so she does the best that she can and I think she exceeds all expectations. Its only 45 dollars for literally the best nails I ever got, and I see two reviews below me from this Farah lady talking about the building? I mean, Jenny does a wonderful job making sure her clients are up to par with covid standards and the sketchiness? If you're that uppity and that snobby maybe you should go somewhere else and get a mediocre set there. Jenny is amazing, and cares for her clients. She remembers her clients names is very sweet. I have got to say that Jenny knows and takes care of your nails well! I've been to many nail salons before, but none of them had a personal feeling to it.
