Worst manicure I've had in awhile. I've been going to a certain nail place in hoboken for 7 years, but the woman who I normally saw decided to leave and open up her own place 45 min away from Hoboken. I've been searching for a new place for a few weeks, and this is by far the worst regular manicure I've ever had. The lady had no idea what she was doing, she just plopped the color right on. She didn't even get my whole nail but got plenty of the cuticle area so now I have nail polish all over my fingers and not my nail. She also placed it on so thick that it never dried and got dented as soon as I left. Additionally, these manicurists do not wear a mask. I totally get that vaccinated people may feel they don't have to, but follow the customer's lead. She saw I was wearing mine so clearly I didn't feel comfortable that she wasn't wearing hers. The ladies that work at this spot are super friendly! This is probably the least expensive nail spot in Hoboken. They are very fast though, so don't expect the manicure or pedicure to take more than 45 minutes. They get the job done and they make you feel like you're home. read more

Stopped by for a mani-pedi this week (mani: $8 + pedi: 15 = $23). Before 4 pm on weekdays, the place is quite empty, but suggest calling in to avoid a wait. Pluses: The salon is clean and cute Has a nice selection of Essie shades. Reasonable prices Experience: Didn't catch my aesthetician's name, but she was super fast and efficient. By and large, she did a good job, but ended up cutting my cuticles pretty deep. I was in and out, including drying time within 40 minutes! So if you're looking for a relaxed, long massage or a leisurly pedi this place won't deliver. I might be back when I'm pressed for time and need express service. read more

Cute little salon with wonderful staff. Woman who did my manicure was kind and funny. Very welcoming atmosphere. Manicure itself was alright. Not perfect--cuticles not trimmed completely and polish outside of nails on skin--but not bad either. This place is great if you are not too picky and the welcoming atmosphere is certainly a plus. I had the best gel manicure and spa pedicure! It was my first time at Nail Concepts. I just relocated to Hoboken after living in Florida for 12 years. I am so happy to find this place. Rosie did my pedicure and I can tell you she was focused on doing a great job. She spent quality time and was super friendly. Anna did my gel manicure. Anna is warm and friendly. She really wants you to be happy. She talks with you and made my time there enjoyable. The music is very Zen and the place is clean. They used sanitized tools and that is a huge thing for me. so....I called around and this place had a good price on a pedi. So I called. Woman answered and I asked what time they closed during the week. She wouldn't answer me. Kept saying "what time you want to come" ? I was like "I'm not sure. what time do you close mon-fri ? " she wouldn't give me a straight answer. so...I make an apt for the next night at 7:00 pm. She says "ok, pls call if you can't make it" ok.....great so....I leave work early, drive there....take 15 mins to find a parking spot, walk up to the door at 6:59 and of course they are closed. NOT RELIABLE....STAY AWAY follow up: I just called to find out what the issue was for my missed apt The person who answered the phone speaks almost NO English.....after I explained my story....she hung up on me. So, I called back and went over it all again...still got nowhere. I asked for the owner....in very bad English.....she told me "owner on bacation....bye..." and hung up again. Love this place! It is, by far, the best in Hoboken. It's off the beaten path a bit, bit FAR superior to the others. Staff and management are always super friendly, service is top notch and you their pricing is better than most! And, after a stressful week at work or home, if you go there on Friday late day, you are treated to a glass of wine to put you in the right mood to be pampered! Went here yesterday to get a mani/pedi for $20. Honestly they do have a good service, but the quality is poor. All of my nails bubbled (see photo) and I am not sure why. As I sat under the dryer more bubbles appeared. Also, she polished my nails outside of my nail, and there was a lot of polish I had the scrape off myself. Came in here for a pedicure...I called around to places and Nail Concepts offers a $15 pedicure & had great Yelp reviews! I will say the salon was really cute decoration wise, and all of the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I also really like my pedicure and think they did a good job. The only con was that they work super fast. I had an appointment first thing in the morning, salon was pretty much empty, and I had the quickest pedicure ever. Literally must have lasted 7 minutes. When I get a pedicure I want to relax, read a magazine, sit in a massage chair...none of that happened here...my feet didnt even soak long. It was IN and OUT. Same for the woman who sat beside me. So quick pedicures aren't my style but if you just want something quick and excellent quality...welp this is the place for you! Just got done with my mani pedi and I'm a happy camper. Today is a Tuesday so it's a $20 special...awesome deal! I have to say my nails look great and I'm very pleased with the quality of work. Mary did my nails and she was gentle, friendly and also gives a good massage. Another plus is they have a pretty good selection of colors...I went with OPI "Suzi Loves Cowboys" which is a nice fall looking brown. Customer service is exceptional. The owner happened to be there and she is a sweetheart. We chatted for a while and she's super down to earth. I felt totally comfortable and content my entire visit. I will definitely be back. I went today to get my eyebrows shaped, they didn't leave them in a very good condition/shape at all. Granted, my shape wasn't great initially, as they need to grow out because the shape is different. But - the trimming of the eyebrows weren't straight, the beautician missed loads of hairs. Another one came into see, when I was trying to explain that the eyebrow trimming clearly wasn't straight. Then the manage came in! The manager did come in and discussed what I wanted, but I informed her it wasn't my job to show all the hairs that hadn't been removed. She asked the girl in Spanish - I understand Spanish- about the small hairs that hadn't been removed! Anyways - enough was enough and I left, I had every intention to pay but the manager said no charge. Which I think was kind of them. I'm not gonna lie, the wine on Fridays is what caught my eye about this place. I was looking for something relaxing and figured what better than being served wine while getting your nails done! But when I got there, there was not a drop of wine in sight. Nor was I offered any. This place is a bit of a hike from my apartment, so I was pretty disappointed. I called about and hour before to make an appointment. The woman was very friendly over the phone. Although when I got there, I ended up having to wait. No big deal, I wasn't in a rush. The selection of polish was pretty limited compared to other salons I've been to, and their colors looked like they could use an update. The salon was clean, and I did like that I could see the equipment that they used to sanitize their tools. Also, all bottles of sprays and solutions were labeled. The girl who did my manicure/pedicure was pleasant enough, but more on the indifferent side, and she was extremely sloppy with the polishing job. I think she spent more time removing polish from my fingers and toes than applying it to my nails! Also, she didn't seem to care too much about removing all the old polish from my toes. Some of the color got under my nails, and she didn't even attempt to really get it off. $23 for a mani pedi can't really be beat, and I suppose you get what you paid for! I'd be willing to give this place another try, especially for the price, but I would want to see if I can make an appointment with someone else. read more

Great small nail salon. There were 3 manicurists working on a Saturday morning, so if you are looking to walk-in, try to go earlier. Otherwise I would suggest making an appointment. Manicure/pedicures are $23 during weekends (which is just the regular price of manicure combined with pedicure). Service was okay, not a very large selection of colors. I did have bubbles in my manicure also, and I don't think the fans were working very well. I think I'd still go back when I feel like having fancy nails though! read more

Nail Concepts is a lovely place to get a great pedicure...and I'm sure a manicure. It is VERY clean and Very affordable, especially for Hoboken! You'd be hard pressed to find a $16.00 pedicure anywhere in town. Ana did my pedicure and she was sweet and friendly. She didn't push unwanted services but rather gave me exactly what I needed and wanted. I was also impressed with the fact that the wait time was quite minimal. Incredibly disappointed! I had been going to this place for a while and after having my baby took a hiatus. Today I called at 12:40pm to see if they had time for a walk in and was told I had to wait till 1. It started raining so I decided to drive there instead. Bad move on my part because I didn't find a parking spot until 1:05... As I walked in the employee approached me and asked if i had just called for a 1pm appointment. I explained that I wanted a walk in but was told to come at 1. She immediately raised her voice and said well you're late and you really should have called I have other people waiting. I looked around and there was only one other person drying her nails. I apologized and said I didn't realize the five mins would make a difference. Moments later I sat down for my pedicure with another employee and the woman came over and sat next to me.She grabbed my hand to start my manicure simultaneously. I told her I wanted a spa treatment and was trying to relax and do them separately. She said she was going to do them together because she had people waiting. I looked around again and there was no one there! I told her it was fine that I would just do the pedicure instead. The whole pedicure took about ten minutes. During this time no one showed up. The pedicure was subpar! There are far too many better places in Hoboken with this range of pricing to put up with that sort of service! read more

This is my first yelp review and there's a good reason for that... So first for the pros: entire staff was very friendly, offered me wine, and took me as their very last customer due to work I usually can't get to a nails salon M-F, prices are lower than most in the area Now for the cons: I asked for an eyebrow wax, when I get them waxed I always ask the person to just clean them up. I wear them fairly natural and thick. I had a feeling while I was getting them done there was way too much plucking going on. Lo and behold I left with eyebrows that were pretty far apart and shorter in length than I have ever had them. I said something to the woman but she was nicely dismissive. upon coming home(I live 5 min away) from the salon both my pedicure and manicure were lumpy as in the Polish was not applied in even coats. So much so I had to repaint one of my nails ( good thing I had a very similar shade). Before I left I let the owner know I was very unhappy with the wax job I paid for which was also met with a dismissive reply " I understand" I usually go to Zeni salon on 14th which is much more expensive but the work is consistent and exactly what I want. This was a case of you get what you pay for. I won't be returning as it looks like I'll have to go to Zeni to get everything redone pretty soon. read more

If you are looking for a no frills cheap manicure and pedicure then this is your spot. They do not do gel or acrylic or anything fancy but they do gel color. They do not have shellac. The price is about $25 for a mani/pedi. There is residential parking close by but they don't have their own lot. The two ladies are Hispanic sisters and are very friendly. It's kind of like getting your nails done by a group of chatty aunties. Overall pleasant experience and will come back again. read more

Can't keep up with modern trend in nails. One woman was extremely rude . While I was trying to work with my manicurist to explain my shape, and when I said the first nail ended up too short and still the wrong shape, I tried to fix it myself. The woman sitting next her told me leave I was being recorded. She called the owner and asked him to the review the footage! then continued to question me where I ever even got my nails done and refused to believe I've gotten my nails done this way for years even though it as right there in front of them. What a fabulous hidden gem in Hoboken. This place is awesome. From the second you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile, small talk and friendly people all throughout. Both Mary and Susana do a fabulous service too, really taking the time to do the best job possible. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they even have a special-$20 mani/pedi! Can't beat that especially for how great they do it! If you are looking for a place that is accomodating- Nail Concepts is the spot for you. Favorite nail place to date. I've been to a ton of different nail salons in the city and Hoboken but this one is my favorite. The ladies are friendly, the place is cute, good selection of colors (although sometimes I bring my own), and the prices/services you get are fab-u-lous! The only downfall is their hours because they close at 7pm but I just make sure to go right after work or on a Saturday. $20 for a good mani/pedi just can't be beat. I wish there was a zero star option. Extremely unprofessional and very poor service. Even though i missed one appointment with them, when i called to make an appointment again few days ago they lied to me on the phone that i have missed their appointment 5 times. I requested them to check their appointment book but they refused to check again and continued with their made up story that i missed my appointment 5 times. In reality, it's them who closed their facility early 2 times without notifying me and i had to find out by showing up on time for my appointment. Most of my experiences there have been 4/5 star ratings. BUT They raised their prices and got ride of the Wednesday $25 mani/pedi deal... which is why I started going in the first place. Service is excellent if you get your nails done by Ana or her sister. Not so consistent or great from the other women who work there though. At least in my experience.
