Beautiful dining room and free parking in building. We started with oysters served with a delicious Mignonette. I had a Caesar salad and added shrimp. The salad was served with only 3 shrimp, $11. extra! Seriously? They weren't even large shrimp or grilled. Also had the avocado toast with 2 eggs. The toast was hard and not easy to cut, the eggs were not hot. The bacon was not crispy or hot. A very disappointing brunch. Oh, and the restroom I used had No soap!

Even though this was not an Italian restaurant, there were some great pastas here. I had the lobster ravioli and gemelli pasta with duck confit. Both were delicious, but small in portion (1 star off). The ravioli only came in quantity of six, so that's why I had to order a second pasta. The space was open and modern. It would be great for large groups. Just remember each person needs two entrees.

Valet parking or parking lot available behind NOM/Dunkin/Morristown Diner -- you just walk across My friend came first so she was seated before I arrived. I do love the atmosphere of the location. It does give a living room / lounge vibe which is nice. They do have two dining areas with a bar area in between and lounge seats along the side. They also had counter seatings available along what looked like the kitchen area. -- I do want to sit there next time. When I did sit I was able to browse the beverage menu, I did order the Scarlett-- I did appreciate it because it was a variation of a Negroni. The Scarlett had a bittersweet, citrusy taste which I love. I do love a good cocktail with Campari and gin, this was the perfect cocktail of the night. *please consider adding a cynar spritz in the summer if you don't already plan on it, please!* We started off with the fried green tomatoes, they were delightful. They were tangy and sour but the creme kept it balanced. I ended up ordering the Barnegat scallops, everything I was dreaming of. It was so creamy and the puree was a great combination. I was ravenous throughout. We ended our meal with the flight of mini desserts, let me tell you-- this is a must! My favorite was the cinnamon panna cotta because of the creaminess flavor but I certainly enjoyed the olive oil cake which had a citrus kick to it along with a berry compote and whipped cream. My friend loved the chocolate budino-- I do admit it was delicious, it tasted like brownie mix. I highly recommend coming here on a girls night out or date night. The vibe is it. I know it was probably busy for the kitchen, we did have a wait but trust me the food is divine and just keep the drinks coming. You won't be disappointed. Cheers to the staff, chefs and the bartenders/baristas. It was a great Saturday night experience.

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about Morris Proper. It's beautifully decorated and the space is large and sleek, but it also seems to lack character. It is definitely giving hotel lobby restaurant energy. It's in the base of an office building, so that does make a bit of sense. Unfortunately the portion size was just lacking. My pasta was something like $30 dollars, and it felt like a half size portion. Flavor was delicious though - I always love a sausage broccoli rabe pasta. Cocktails were also stellar, as was the octopus appetizer. My sister also really enjoyed her tuna. I'm willing to try again - hopefully portions are bigger next time. But either way it's a fun spot to enjoy a cocktail.

A very welcome addition to Morristown - we had an excellent experience at the Morris Proper. Atmosphere 5/5: large, open space with high ceilings and a very trendy vibe. Immediately impressive when you walk in. Drinks 5/5: the Freezer martinis, served ice cold and poured from a bottle with garnishments, was one of the best martinis I've had. Others at the table all enjoyed their drinks as well Appetizers 5/5: we split the breaded pickled green tomatoes and the focaccia bread. The focaccia was served hot and perfectly crispy. The whipped ricotta served with it was so good. The other spreads (one tomato based and the other an olive relish) were good as well, but we couldn't stop going back for the ricotta. The green tomatoes, with dill and ranch, were excellent as well. 5s across the board so far, so how did we end up at 4 overall after such a great start? Entrees 4/5: our table tried a variety of entrees including the branzino, the gulf shrimp pasta, the pork and beef ragu, and the spicy vodka. All were very good, but didn't quite live up to the appetizers. Lots of other good options on the menu, so will keep trying to find my dish here! Dessert: 2/5: we shared the dessert trio. While the cinnamon panna cotta with apple compote was delicious, but the other two items were extremely disappointing. The olive oil cake was pretty dry and the chocolate budino was so overly salty that it was hardly edible. An outstanding meal overall, even with the slightly disappointing end. We will definitely plan to return soon.

Had a work dinner here and it was exceptional from start to finish. The Old Fashioneds were perfectly crafted and set the tone for the night. We started with the focaccia bread with the extra add-ons--well worth it and so fresh. I had the spicy vodka pasta with chicken, which was rich, balanced, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is upscale but still comfortable for conversation. Service was truly outstanding--attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout. Overall, an excellent dining experience and an easy recommendation.

A large restaurant int eh Sanofi building, if you're a Sanofi employee you get a discount (bring your badge). Service was ok, not too frequent but good change of plates and cups as you went through the meal. Parking lot in the back area, some retail spots you can park in, but not a clear way to the restaurant (apparently you can walk through the Sanofi lobby or all the way around the long way.) Really lovely dining area. Lunch had a special but we opted for the regular menu. The steak was delicious, black angus bottom sirloin, cooked properly medium rare, lovely chimichurri and came with a lot of somewhat bitter gourmet salad (I asked for salad instead of fries, but apparently you normally get both- that was unclear to me). Steak portion was small, but for $26 a good lunch size, I guess. Also unclear... a very cloudy, iced tea. Not sure why - at first, the little bitterness made me think of iced coffee instead. Anyway, it was ok, but not really what I wanted in unsweetened iced tea flavor. Dessert - blueberry panna cotta was small... they brought a spoon that barely was big enough, then one that was almost too big for what looked like a little 2 oz. cup. When the three blueberries looked giant on there, well, I wish there was more. Not bad, but not firm enough. Also, the end receipt had a strange charge on it - they apologized, wasn't sure how that was on there, and we added a tip after they removed it. Overall, the steak was good, hoping to try the burger next time. Will probably aim for the rosemary fries instead of the salad, though.

On this episode of Eating My Way Through Morris County... my wife and I decided to stop by Morris Proper. Let's start with the highlights: the Caesar salad with black kale and house-made dressing is easily one of the best salads I've had all year. It reminded me of the old-school tableside salads you'd get in a fine dining spot. My only note--the anchovies could've been sliced a little thinner--but I'm definitely ordering it again next time. For my entrée, I went with the branzino. The skin was perfectly crisp, the inside was light and fluffy, and the seasoning--with capers and something I still can't put my finger on--made it outstanding. Now, for the flip side. For all the great food, they don't offer champagne by the glass, only prosecco. Parking can also be tricky--there are a few spots behind the restaurant, but otherwise you'll need to head down the street, and the signage could be clearer. And the hosts at the door weren't exactly warm; it felt more like being monitored during the SATs than being welcomed into a restaurant. Thankfully, our bartender/waitress turned the whole experience around. Since we didn't have a reservation, we grabbed seats at the bar, and she made sure the night ended on a high note. I eat. I judge. The fork stops with me.

We went with a group of friends for brunch! We got complimentary croissants. It was freshly baked! Delicious! For starters we ordered the following Monkey bread - nice and sweet. Like a Cinnabon Fried green tomatoes - to small but it was delicious Focaccia bread - great bread For entrees: J Bone Smoke Brisket with a bed of potatoes and scrambled eggs. The brisket was soft. But there was no choice for medium. Wagyu steak frites - medium rare. It was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The side of fries were good too! Service was excellent. The food came out quick! Perfectly times after we had our starters.

Solid, came here on a Monday night and left very pleased. Good food and a very nice venue in Morristown. Bar is very good, velvet Negronis are an excellent cocktail. Appetizers were good, the entrees were better. Chose a slice of lemon cake and the waiter brought out a sparkler and sang HBD. A good place to add to the list.

Ambiance is excellent! Cute place, sexy bar. Food is ok, my French toast taste great came out cold. The dish Several of us wanted was sold out. Our server was very nice, but the food was slow coming out. The drinks were made very well. I would come again, maybe they just don't have Brunch down well. Note parking is awful - no valet or private parking.

Had a really nice dinner here. The place is upscale and has a bougie vibe and the service is super friendly and accommodating. Practically everything on the menu can be made GF and they change the menu seasonally. We got two lettuce-wrapped burgers with fries and they were so delicious. My unsweetened iced tea tasted great too. The only minor preference change would be that the fries could be crispier but they still had great flavor on them. Would definitely think about having work or client dinners here for sure. Still hard to snag a res some nights and the can see why!

Lovely new place! I found their bar and variety of cocktails to be my absolute favorite aspect of this place. The service was gracious and friendly. The place itself feels quite large specially if you have only a few diners ... but it's really well designed. The food was delicious with the fish being our favorite. We enjoyed sharing all the dishes and ordering our way through the bar menu. Great new addition to this town yet a bit of an awkward location.

The space on the first floor is divided into a lively bar area with plenty of TVs and a slightly quieter main dining room with comfortable booths and tables. There is also seating on an outdoor terrace on the second floor and a few tables in front of the restaurant on South Street if you're up for dining al fresco. It's a terrific option in Morristown that's sophisticated enough for a date on the outdoor terrace when the weather cooperates or a pre-theater meal in the dining room, yet casual enough for beers and appetizers while watching a game in the bar area. The menu captures the essence of modern American comfort food. Whether you're grabbing the Stirling Burger ($18) -- made from a tasty short rib and brisket blend -- or splurging on the Grilled New York Strip ($48) topped with crabmeat fries, the quality is evident. They are also great with dietary restrictions. Between the various poultry, fish, and vegetarian options on the menu and the kitchen's willingness to make moderate accommodations in any other dish, there's something for everyone. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service. We recently celebrated my niece's 21st birthday here, and our server made it memorable by honoring her milestone birthday by playfully asking for her ID EVERY SINGLE TIME she ordered a drink. It became a running joke for the night and made the occasion feel extra special. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars for me is that both sides of the main floor can get pretty loud when it's packed and the prices are a bit on the higher side for casual dining. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Stirling Tavern offers a Happy Hour Monday through Friday between 3pm and 6pm, which features specials on certain cocktails, wines, beers, and light snacks. You must be seated at the bar to take advantage of the promotional pricing. If you enjoy a good Old Fashioned, try the JB ($10), made with Four Roses bourbon, blood orange amaro, orange & angostura bitters. PRO TIP #2: Stirling Tavern does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of paid on-street parking on South Street or Maple Avenue. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday. If you can't find a spot on the street, paid parking is also available in the Morristown Parking Authority Lot #8 (@ 10 Franklin Street) and Vail Parking Area (@ 110 South Street). FREE on-street parking is located on MacCulloch Avenue, just two blocks from Stirling Tavern.

I could not view reviews of dishes, so had to step outside to take a peak. Cannot justify paying such prices for dinning in a tiny, dark space in half-basement in the middle of NJ. Just can't. The portions are generous, which is good. But the prices are still outrageous for the location and vibe. It is BYOB for alcohol. We walked in on Sunday at 6pm without reservations and by 7pm, the small space filled up. The $12 hummus was bad. Store bought hummus of the cheapest brand tastes better. Seriously don't understand how a hummus can taste so bland and meh. No seasoning? The pita that came with it was low quality--it gave my friend an allergic reaction right away [he has sensitivity towards poor quality flour products]. $44 paidakia--lamb chops--had 4 chops that were tender and delicate. Pasnip pure was bland and totally a miss--did nothing to complement anything on the plate. Barely any demi lace sauce--definitely on the dry side.
