    English Muffin
    Darren S.

Here visiting Napa and I'm looking for some good eats around. Who would've known? Oprah's favorite bakery in in town! This gets even weirder: guess what is her baked good of choice? A homemade English muffin. I know. Not a croissant. Not a pain au chocolat. An English muffin. Not Thomas'. Model's own, and you'll get it once you've tried it. Came on a Tuesday morning, and there was a good amount of people eating in the outdoor dining area of the bakery, so that's always a good sign. I ordered the most simple thing on the menu: 1 English Muffin, toasted, with butter and rasberry jam. Simplicity speaks volumes at times. I gotta say: I was setting myself up for dissapointment. But after the first bite, I got it. I get why this is so good. I get why this is Oprah's favorite. It's simplicity makes it stand-out. The pillowy inside with the crusty outside was absolutely remarkable. If you're in Napa, stop by Model Bakery. Don't get the fancy desserts. Get the English Muffin. It's worth it.

We dropped in Sunday around 10:30am. It was busy with people sitting outside but the ordering line wasn't. Seats opened up as people ate and left. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches: Croissantwich and breakfast egg muffin sandwich. Both were good. A lot of meat and cheese. They said the wait for the sandwiches were going to be 20 mins but I felt like it was 10-15 mins. Parking is on the street or a small parking lot next to the Fatted Calf. Very casual place for breakfast, pastry, and coffee.

I can't leave town to visit friends without bringing English muffins! This time they're being packed up for a trip to Scotland. YES, a new destination across the pond for our Napa favorite!

Model Bakery was such a lovely stop. I had a smooth and delicious oat milk matcha latte with just a touch of honey--perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The ham and cheese croissant was wonderfully flaky, buttery, and satisfying. I enjoyed it all outside on a beautiful morning, which made the experience even better. Between the quality of the food and drinks and the relaxed atmosphere, it's an easy place to linger and enjoy the moment. Definitely worth a visit!

When Oprah says, "Go somewhere for the English muffin," you go. And let me tell you, she was not lying! This thing is massive, airy, fluffy, and dangerously easy to inhale. I ordered my egg sandwich without the meat and grabbed a chai to go along with it. The sandwich was solid, and the chai was blah. Next time, though, I am coming prepared with a jelly packet or a little butter because this muffin deserves the full experience. There is no indoor seating, but honestly, it adds to the charm. There are outdoor benches with umbrellas, providing just enough shade to enjoy your food without melting. You order at the counter, and they bring everything out to you, which feels like a little treat in itself. If Oprah is a fan and you still have not been, that is all the sign you need. Go check it out!

Came here on a Sunday, entire oxbow market was super busy so decided to came here for a coffee pick me up. People were friendly and fast, coffee was average, but the cookie (forgot the name, but it was a combination of espresso and chocolate) was good

Best English muffin - still got it! I came here in 2011 and had to revisit. Dare I say it is perfect - the muffin simply toasted filled with butter and jam. I came back right before the airport and even paid the exorbitant price for a six-pack of the muffins to go. Also very good was the sausage sandwich, which is made with the English muffin. Recommend the white chocolate cookie as well.

I placed an order online for pickup at the Oxbow location. I ordered a blueberry scone, a buttermilk cranberry scone and a macha drink. Everything was ready really quickly. Once home, I heated the scones up. I liked them both but the blueberry won by a nose.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. As long as you know coming in that you're likely to wait 20-30 mins for a sandwich, you won't be too disappointed. It's also not the least expensive breakfast you'll get, but it's really good. It's a popular place, so it's busy, but you'll be happy once you get your food. As you probably already know by now, they're known for their English muffins, and they're honestly like nothing else you've had before. I had the breakfast sausage sandwich, which I've had before, while my wife had the chipotle breakfast sandwich. Mine came on the English muffin, while hers didn't. And she forget to ask for the English muffin, so she was disappointed when she unwrapped it. Oops. I also had a pumpkin muffin, while she had a Pain Au Chocolat. Both were delicious. I'm sure we'll be back again and will definitely remember the English muffins.

The bakery in Oxbow is ancient and in need of remodeling but the English muffins are still the best. If you want them to hold a bag of 6 or more bags for you, they require 48 hrs notice. The AM of our departure, I called early (they open 6:30 am) and held several bags for pick up. The price has increased to $16.75 for a bag of 6 now. We arrived by 11am, bought my muffins and went home.

Wondering where you can get a good breakfast and a loaf of bread in Napa? Then here is a place for you! Although a line could be quite long due to its popularity, it is totally worth the wait. First, parking. You can park on a street, public parking lot, or, if you plan to enjoy shopping at the Oxbow Public Market, you can park there. Second - menu. It's pretty long and includes the original and seasonal menus, so it takes a while to figure out. Be patient. Third, seating: all seats are outdoors and can get crowded easily during the weekend and peak hours. The good thing about sitting outside is the fresh Napa air and the service, where the server brings your food and drinks so you don't need to wait inside. Everything on their menu is worth trying. So, when in Napa, make sure to visit.

Small little bakery next to a few other wineries, a short walk to the Napa River and the Napa wine train. Sandwich was soggy even though they'd just prepared it. Tasted ok. Bread was good. Could not taste the chipotle sauce much and there wasn't much bacon in the sandwich either but they had plenty of egg and avocado. It was all slipping out as I was trying to eat it. Interior is quite small. They only have outdoor seating so be prepared for that along with competitive parking. I saw 2 people get very heated over parking as I was sitting and waiting for my food. It started pouring as soon as I got there & the cafe is busy most of the day. Couldn't try their famous English muffins as they'd seem to run out but matcha was pretty decent. I would definitely go back and hope to have a better experience.

We stopped by The Model Bakery on a Saturday after visiting the Oxbow Market, and it was a nice little detour. The place was moderately busy, and inside they have an enormous selection of baked goods, breads, cookies, you name it. It's the kind of place where you walk in for one thing and end up tempted by a dozen others. We initially just went in to grab a couple of cookies and settled on a big chocolate chip and an oatmeal raisin. Both cookies were a good size and totally worth the price (just under three bucks each). The oatmeal raisin in particular was a standout as it was chewy, delicious, and packed with flavor. While we were waiting in line, they brought out some slices of pizza, and they looked so good we couldn't resist grabbing a slice of the spicy meat pizza and the Hawaiian pizza. One bite in and I could tell this pizza was on another level. It was honestly, some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything we tried was just delicious. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Ask the Community - The Model Bakery

What are the gluten free options? Thanks

I did not see any option when I was there 3 visits, but you should call the bakery directly!

Will they be sold out of English muffins if you go in the afternoon (after lunch)?

We have gone after lunch and purchased English muffins.

Do you know if the English muffins can be frozen?

I would think yes! I would recommend cutting them in half and freezing them.

Do they have any vegan baked goods yet?

I was just there last weekend to buy baguettes, I didn't see anything vegan. Bakeries aren't the best places for vegan anything. Whole Foods has vegan baked goods. Maybe even Trader Joe's. Good luck!

I ordered a lavender coffee latte, which I was really looking forward to, but it lacked flavor and was disappointing enough that I chose not to purchase anything further. That alone might not have stopped me from returning, but what followed did. Knowing European culture, and especially Parisian cafés, are often very dog-friendly, and given Napa's well-known dog-loving atmosphere, I felt comfortable bringing my dog, who is a service animal. I was immediately asked to leave because only service animals are allowed, with the assumption made that my dog was not one. While he is in fact a service animal, the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. There was no curiosity or neutral clarification... just an assumption and a request to leave. That moment really deflated the excitement I had walking in. Between the coffee experience and feeling unwelcome, I decided not to stay as long as planned or purchase anything further. I'm glad to see that others have had better experiences here, and the pastries certainly look lovely. I suppose those interested should trust other reviewers on that front. It danced perfectly between tart citrus and gentle sweetness, leaving you reaching back for another forkful before you even realized it. My wife and I ordered two breakfast places and two pastries on our visit. The salmon salad plate was our healthy plate, which was really tasty and fresh. They sell curated food products from gourmet balsamic vinegar, crackers, popcorn, flavored olive oils, jams, and of course. We decided to try the bourbon latte and white rabbit. They have a variety of flavors but the bourbon latte caught my eye. Me not realizing that it felt like summer outside during springtime, we ordered both drinks hot. Sidenote, the drinks do come iced as well. In addition to our drinks, I bought lemon curd jam and rosè jelly. There was only one person working when we were there but we didn't wait long for our drinks which was a big plus. Aside from that, the bourbon latte was very tasty and I loved the fact that the bourbon syrup wasn't too overpowering. Next time I go, I'm definitely getting it iced. Napastäk is definitely a gem and I recommend stopping by to visit if you're in the area. If you love taking picturesque photos, this is the perfect place! They having tasting too!

I noticed there were other reviews of the staff being rude and I wish I listened). There's always rumors about napa being racist/prejudice so it's hard to feel like I can't get good service if i'm not blonde and pale especially from a cashier who is also a person of color...She seemed to be so preoccupied with other matters instead of..her job? Worst $11 of my life. There's not a lot of great matcha places in all of 707 (Benicia, Vallejo, Fairfield, etc) and this experience had to be the most expensive and least inviting..with the least flavoring. It was straight milk with a dash of matcha. I asked for caramel and I taste nothing.

The space isn't large and the service is really friendly so it gives that vibe/ charm of a small town deli shop. I was visiting the Napa area with my parents and my mom wanted to pick up some charcuterie meats. Saw this place and am really glad we went! Other than deli type items behind the counter, they have a lot of goods on the shelves like imported tin fish, specialty snacks, etc. Seems like a beloved place to grab lunch as well.

It's a pretty small deli located near a brewery and I believe a public market. Parking is not the best but we were able to squeeze into the nearby parking lot. The interior is cute, I'll be at small. It's like a small deli front with sandwiches and a couple of like jarred or canned things or dried things that you could shop for, but the focus is really the deli here. This review is for the deli sandwich only, we can't comment on the other deli products, though it seems like their customers love their products and they were really helpful and friendly to everyone looking We got the muffaletta. Unfortunately, they were out of the standard bread so we swapped it for a baguette and no regrets. The sandwich itself was so good nice and salty, intense flavors, but also melt in your mouth. We're so glad we decided to stop by here and I definitely would like to come back to try their other sandwiches and maybe their deli offerings.
