Sandwich and tamales menu November 2024

A fun place to get grab some food (sandwiches, tamales, pastries, etc.) and play some board games. The barista was super friendly, and made me a pumpkin spice chai with homemade pumpkin syrup (I can definitely taste the pumpkin, bur I didn't love it!) And their pastries is from Macrina. I was told this place gets super busy after school is out.

As per usual I was seeking a place near my last client to complete my charting and grab a beverage. I located this cafe and had no idea what I was in for. I'd never heard of a game cafe. I hesitated for a moment, but am so glad to have entered. This cafe was amazing! The person at the counter made a great drink and recommended a good bite to eat. They were personable and everyone seemed to enjoy spending time going up to them and chatting them up. People were at tables playing D&D type games, there was a group in a private room. There was a group of high school kids, and adult group too. Noise level was surprisingly reasonable and I got lots of work done. I wish I had had the time to look around at the games they were selling because there were tons of new and used games for sale.

Looks like a great place to socialize and play all variety of games. We stopped by for coffee and a sandwich. We didn't expect the $9 Cuban sandwich to be small, prepackaged and microwaved. Possibly everything is prepackaged. Friendly service but wouldn't plan to have food here again. Gave it 4* because it's good to support small businesses.

The barista was super nice and helpful. Cute place that initially looks like it was a former gas station but converted to a cafe. Very cool backdrop with all types of board games displayed. Food and drinks were fairly affordable. Coffee beverage items costs around $3.50-$5.00 a cup and breakfast sandwiches about $6-$8. Parking lot available and "tenant parking" is allowed for customers, per the barista we asked. Would definitely come back if I needed a quick coffee break from home.

I thought someone should create a game about covid and I looked over.

I was informed the tourney would likely go until 9pm. They host both the card game and the switch/video game challenges. I did have a card to trade and the breakdown of the process was the most thorough I've seen yet and I wanted store credit as you get 80% vs 70% if you got cash only. Anywho, the wait to be called did take longer than I'd like but given it was busy and my decision on what to use for store credit took awhile, I wouldn't deduct anything. Avery (sp?) was the main person who helped me and she was very patient. I also bought some playable cards (they have a stash of organized cards in bins near their staff-only area which other employees helped me out with. All-in-all, very spacious and well organized! They have one exclusively for double rares/ex cards, ultra rares/full arts, ace specs, etc. They even have a box for people to drop off ETB boxes in for people to claim for free if they want to take home. I also noticed some instant ramen station which they utilized for food in the store. They have some nice wall art too that was handprints as well. Would revisit if I'm ever back in Seattle, WA!

The staff was also friendlier and helpful. If you're looking for Pokémon cards, this is definitely not the best place to look for them. They had a bunch of single cards displayed and it looks pretty randomized. Not a good variety and honestly looks disorganized. They at least have a decent amount of sealed products, but everything was above market price. The staff wasn't friendly, nor were they interactive. The place wasn't that organized. There's a decent amount of table with you want to play card games with your friends.

Then there was the wall of 1000-piece puzzles and the 3D Legos and my mind was blown! I bought my husband some magnets and look forward to returning. However, that would be for ideas because I'd rather find what I want and look for it somewhere local.

Now that we got that out of the way, I really liked this little game and puzzle shop inside of the mall. I admit, I don't normally go into stores like this, but I saw their puzzle selection as I was walking past and had to check it out. And I'm so glad I did! I love puzzles and recently got a large one for my birthday after having not built one in years. I had so much fun that I was itching to get another--so the timing was perfect. I spent most of my time there looking at the puzzles, but I did wander around the rest of the store and saw lots of table top games, both mainstream and more advanced for serious gamers. There were cards, dice sets, learning toys and science sets. I also saw classic, wooden chess and checkers sets, even game tables. If you're a Lego fan, there is a smaller selection here. And POP fans should probably check out this location for their large selection. What really got me pumped was seeing some of their Nintendo collectibles, items, and themed merchandise. There were mugs, Zelda Master Sword and shield props, and even Nintendo themed board games. I ended up getting two puzzles, a 1,000 piece panorama one ($25) and a smaller 550 piece Zelda puzzle ($10). However, I was extremely tempted by their selections of mystery puzzle games, Ravensburger, Aquarius, and Heye triangular box puzzles (much more expensive, but so cool). Can't wait to come back to get more!

Navigating geek culture can sometimes be a treacherous (gatekeeping and elitism abound). But not at Outsider. All geeks seem to be truly welcome: from hardcore fans, to casual readers, to absolute noobs looking for a place to begin exploring printed media, Outsider's staff will be there to help people find what they're looking for.
