We were there with our friends, party of eight on a Friday night because it was the only restaurant in the area that wasn't busy. The food was good but service was horrible. We only ordered four dishes and two orders of samosa. The samosa took over 30mins before they brought it out. Over an hr. later, I went up and talked to the owner/manager? The food finally came after over 1hr & 15mins. My friends and I were pretty upset because a group of 8 (all Indians) came ~30mins after us and they all got their food before we did, even though we ordered earlier and had less dishes. My wife finally had to tell the owner/manger that they should treat all their customers equally. They did try to make it up by giving us free mango rice pudding and that was really nice of them. We are a frequent visitor to Mint leaf. They have outstanding service with a smile. Manager is very humble and caring. Staff is always anxious to serve you and keep on visiting your table frequently. Our favorite dish is Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka masala, Tandoori Chicken and Began Bhurta( egg plant). Chola Bhatra & Masala Chai is truly Indian pride. Don't forget to finish your meal with Gajar Halwa or Kulfi. We are very Thankful to the management for keeping high standards and offering a fine dining experience to us. read more

I ordered takeout. Good circular containers for the saucy entrees so no spills, and paper bag with handles. The Methi Murgh (chicken) was wonderful, with a velvety sauce, and the chicken was soft and juicy. Also my first time trying Achari Murgh, described as cooked with pickled spices, yogurt, and onion. This was very interesting and tangy, tasted like it had a vinegar base, but all the spices came through, it wasn't too sharp. The naan was perfectly flaky and layered, one long piece. At first I was going to order online, but decided to run some errands and call when I was ready so I didn't have a deadline. Online, you're given the option of spiciness rated 1-10. On the phone, I told them I wanted both dishes 'spicy' and the receipt showed 8, which was perfect for me, and means people who want extra spicy can go all the way to 10. The flavors are all fantastic and good portion of well-cooked chicken (not dry and hidden by sauce) in the entrees. My friend recommended Mint Leaf. I am super picky with Indian food but I just went with my two lady friends and we all loved it. I did the buffet and got the chicken Tikki masala that had a lot of flavors. My friends got the veggie samosas and loved it. It came with like 4 different sauces that my friends loved. The waiters were very attentive even when it got busier. Our water glasses never went empty. I swear every time it got even halfway empty someone was there to make sure it was filled up. I absolutely love this restaurant. Have been ordering here for a while - Shrimp Malabar is one of my favorites. After placing my order the manager, Rav, kindly called me to also suggest the Lamb Shank (which is slow roasted for 48 hrs!). I'm normally not a fan of lamb - but I almost cried when eating it. I love this place! First off, it's beautifully decorated. The food was delicious - I got the Methi Murgh and it was so tasty. But even more stellar than the food was the service! Our server was friendly and accommodating. And I believe it was the owner who did this - I accidentally left my phone in my booth and as I was walking back to the restaurant, he walked out with my phone in-hand! 10/10 great service, great food. After looking at the sign throughout the pandemic and wanting to try the place, last night my wife and I ventured out and ate in the restaurant. The food was worth the wait. The tables were spread out and the place was extremely clean. The manager and the staff were friendly and it was nice to get back to dining in. However, the food was the star of the night. Everything was incredible. They asked us how we wanted our meal spiced, and as my wife wanted relatively mild and I wanted very hot, we agreed to have it in the middle. It was incredible. We ordered three dishes just to try everything out since we hadn't had Indian food in over a year. I came across this place in my travels, and we actually got there about 20min. before they opened so we decided to wait it out after reading the good reviews. It was so worth the wait, everything was excellent! We got the Samosa Chaat, the Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Mint Sampler. The Mint sampler meat was a little dry, but I mixed it with the Samosa Chaat, and it was Great! Just finished a great lunch. We started with the Gobi Lahsooni (cauliflowers in sweet and sour sauce). With every bite my wife said, "This is good". My friend and I meet at The Mint Leaf for the lunch buffet about every two weeks. I am a vegan. There is always a protein dish (e.g. chick peas), a vegetable dish, and pakoras that are vegan. There is also a large variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, bread, and desert. The food is always delicious. They know me now and they always bring me vegan bread even though it's not on the buffet. I had visited my favorite restaurant the other day I was surprised to see how badly the service had dropped. There were just one waiter taking the orders as well as packing the food for carryout's .So I casually asked the gentle man if he had no help as I heard the phone ringing off the hook and there was no one to answer the phone. We as customers were watching all this playout in front of us. I don't if it was the Grub hub guy or Door Dash guy yelling for their food. We have had carry out from this restaurant a few times, and each time wondered how others were giving ratings of 4s and 5s. I am willing to give tje benefit of the doubt that perhaps the meat dishes are better. We always ordered the chole bhature and another vegetarian dish. unfortunately each time it was disappointing with the different dishes. Yesterday the chole was smothered in an unbalanced gravy and looked very unappetizing. The bhature were slipper shaped and was definitely reheated, oily and tough and leathery that it was even hard to break up into pieces. The paneer tikka masala was again unbalanced to taste and was too sweet with paneer pieces that seemed to have been added in to a gravy that may have been heated several times. The rice was dry and a little undercooked. we were willing to be repeat customers because we know all restaurants have some problem days and different dishes may be prepared differently. But it's time to let go and we don't think we will ever visit or take out from this restaurant. read more

Woohoo is right!!!! This is a newly opened place in Hunt Valley although we understand that they have a couple other restaurants elsewhere. I am not surprised-there was a distinct sense of expertise here. We were not sure we would get the buffet. First of all, offering a buffet on weekends is rare. Secondly, most of our experiences with Indian buffets have been decidedly less than stellar. But when we went in to check it out, a customer there offered- without prompting- that everything was delicious. So that brought us to a quick decision, although we did add an order for Palak Chaat as well. (I have been in search of a version of this appetizer to equal the unspeakably divine one at Rasika in D.C.) Our waiter, Mrigen, was the winner of all time for friendly, helpful and super generous. He whipped me up a special off the menu Indian version of lemonade for me to try. It was beautiful to look at but too tart for me and he took it off the bill. He also gave us a free, unsolicited container of rice pudding because we were too full to partake of dessert. He was truly a joy to deal with! As to the food: wow...the buffet offered every variation of possible taste preferences from very mild to spicy and hot. We LOVED every dish. We were just sorry that our limited capacity prevented us from having more...smile. And the Palak Chaat was addictive yummy...very different from Rasika and both great in their own ways. I have a huge sweet tooth and my husband prefers savory and spicy. I thought the Palak Chaat would be too sweet for him but he loved it too. It's a winner! I am shocked at the negative reviews that talk about bland food and poor service. I can only say that we experienced completely the opposite: the best service EVER and wonderful food that has us dreaming already of returning. The place is spotless and lovely and I only have 2 suggestions: 1. take the real estate code box off the front door-it looks like you are getting ready to close up shop. and 2. don't have the host follow customers up to the buffet. This only lasted a few minutes and may have been to make sure we knew what to do, but it made me feel that we were being watched and scrutinized. (I have known places that actually follow you around the buffet to make sure you don't take too much and it is so uncomfortable as to keep people from returning) I wish this place a long and successful run and can promise that as long as the quality is this good, we will be regulars! My wife and I have eaten at probably ten or more of the local/recommended Indian restaurants and enjoyed many of them, but The Mint Leaf really surprised us today with delicious and fresh food, great service and a welcoming environment. We are big fans of buffets, in part so we can try multiple offerings, but also because my friend Mr. Tummy is a demanding taskmaster. The Mint Leaf kept the food in the warmers hot and fresh, with nothing sitting there too long. Chicken Tikka Masala is usually my litmus test, and their offering was full of flavor with a savory tomato taste that was not drowned in butter. The Palak Paneer had big cubes of fresh cheese and equally fragrant spinach. And of course as others have said the Naan was delicious. I haven't written a review in a while, but this experience definitely deserved one. I'll be back for sure, and then I'll take and post my pics. read more

If you've been to the Mint Room on Rt.40 in Ellicott City, you know how elegant and spacious that place is. The Mint Leaf is elegant too, but not quite as big. Here's a tip for management... push the buffet tables closer to the kitchen. There's no reason for you to be able to walk behind the serving dishes. If anything needs to be re-filled, do it from the front. Making this small logistical change to the buffet would GREATLY improve the customer experience! I would hate to be seated near the buffet the way it's laid out now... too close for comfort, if you know what I mean. Anyway, like I said, if you've been to the The Mint Room, you know the recipes are awesome and all the dishes are literally bursting with flavor. I can't wait to go back, and I'm thoroughly delighted that I can now have my Chili Fish and all the other tasty buffet items closer to home! My friends and I were underwhelmed by the food from The Mint Leaf. CAVEAT: we had takeout, so it was at least 20 minutes past its prime by the time we ate. That will matter for some dishes, but others would not have been helped by immediate consumption. We were also disappointed because we had a large order for 5 people, but nothing was marked! This left us to guess and taste-test which dish was what (including two of the same dish, one significantly spicier than the other). Chicken Tikka Masala and the Goat Curry were the best dishes of the bunch, but none of us were fans of the Murgh Seekh. The naan was very good but (another packaging error), garlic and plain were wrapped together, and the flavors mingled. I do like how you can customize spiciness level. I also feel that dining in may add to the experience, and validate some of the more expensive prices, so I plan to try The Mint Leaf again before passing full judgement. read more
