We loooooved this restaurant. Five other CDT hikers and myself have been to this restaurant twice in our two days in town. Our server, Jamie, was incredibly funny, kind, and attentive and she's our favorite server so far on our trek from Canada. The food was great too, but what stuck with me was Jamie being so nice to us after coming in straight from the backcountry, dirty as heck, and ordering multiple entrees and special orders. Another favorite in a town I only make it to twice a summer. After rolling out of the mountains and famished for some non-camping food, the Middle Fork is always a welcome breakfast treat. We had the corn beef hash and huevos rojo and both were delicious. I particularly liked the rosemary oil in the hash, it gave it a unique flavor that most hash is lacking. I also am a big fan of the lemon thyme berry jam. The outdoor patio is nice although the inside is warm and welcoming and has a lovely fresh morning ambiance. read more

The food was quite good. I had the bacon and eggs, both of which were very good. The potatoes were excellent. My daughter had a cinnamon roll with orange glaze. Motivated owner/chef that strives to make delicious food while offering best service a place I love to recommend to folks visiting or traveling through the town, not a regulair mom-pop diner but haute cuisine with an original and artistic twist. Changes in menu frequently occur since the owner/chef loves to try new things out. Vegetarian meals are available, gluten free, great salads but also wonderful "traditional" meals that have their own flair. The atmosphere is great with it's high ceilings and wooden floors in a historical building, the outside terrace is also a nice spot with a little creek running through it. Local artists are encouraged to showcase their beautiful pieces in this wonderful place, meaning every 1-2 months the environment has a metamorphises which keeps the inside look refreshing. read more

Fantastic breakfast and lunch offerings. I am in town briefly and normally I'd prefer to try multiple places, but after my lunch here yesterday I desired to try them for breakfast before I leave. They don't forego any opportunity to add flavor and freshness. Timeless staples such as eggs Benedict are enhanced with fresh herbs in the sauce and garden greens on the muffin. If dining and ambience is what you're looking for, look no further than the Middle Fork. Yaaaas, if you are like myself, rezzy AF, you may be partial to simplicity. In the spirit of my rezzed out ways, I ordered the burger with the fixings on the side. However, I found myself putting the toppings back on throughout the meal and was pleasantly surprised by the savory nature of the flavor complimented by the subtle stroll through flavortown offered by the goat chèvre. I sampled the steak, which was tender and juicy, uniquely kissed by the ancho rub, accented with roasted potatoes. I'm not a fan of mushrooms, however, a slice to top the steak gave it just enough extra to take it home and remind you of why steak is still king. Though I shall confess, nothing tasted more impressive than the final small piece of steak I had to sample than being topped with some good ol ketchup. I'm country that way, and shoot me if you must, but the important thing is when I was finished, I was happy, full, and driven to tell the world about this gem which I consider to be Fremont County's best kept secret. The lunch quiche - light, fluffy, perfectly cheesy, the crust flaky and buttery. Delicious. Tortilla soup - hot. Creamy. Just the right amount of spice. Complex flavor. Enjoy it by itself. French press coffee - rich. Powerful. Fresh. The food was wonderful, the service attentive and friendly. We found this charming place on our way to Denver from Yellowstone Park. Lander, Wyoming has a lovely downtown and the Middle Fork is right in the middle of the 4-5 block stretch in a charming historic building. We enjoyed having lunch out on the side patio built along a bubbling mountain creek. My husband had the grilled cheese and fries with the restaurant's unique "fry sauce" - a combination of homemade aoli and ketchup. I had the Quiche Lorraine - a thick slice on flaky crust filled with gooey Swiss cheese and loaded with fresh spinach, ham, and bits of bacon along with a crisp green salad and the restaurant's homemade buttermilk dressing - in fact, all their dressings are homemade - try the anchovy-Cesar dressing. The service was excellent - our waitress was a friendly hometown gal with long family ties to the town. Give it a try instead of fast food - totally worth it! read more

Very mice setting and charming patio. settings. Went after checking good reviews, for brunch on Sunday at noon. Nice menu and food was good but extremely slow service. It took them 45 min to bring our food. When asked, after 30 minutes, they responded in a strong tone they were extremely busy, which is ok and I understand. But I think they should warn customers upon arrival that kitchen is running slow, give an estimate timing, and let us decide if we want to stay or go somewhere else. Driving through on our way to Sinks Canyon. Banana french toast, kids french toast, both amazing. Fresh squeezed orange juice was perfect. Place is clean and well kept. We happen to be passing through and decided to stop for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious. I had biscuits and gravy with an egg on top and my wife had the pancakes and bacon. The gavy had large chunks of "local" meat and was spice just right. The biscuits were large and tasty (not dried out). The pancakes were moist and large and the bacon was nice and thick and meaty. Yum! We stopped on the way through from Yellowstone, heading home to Colorado. What a nice surprise! This quaint restaurant has a great atmosphere, lovey outdoor seating, and delicious home-cooked food. I ordered the Deli Sammy with a side salad. The local bacon was thick and some of the best I've ever eaten. I also loved the dill aioli and the homemade dressing choices (I went with the tarragon vinaigrette). I love the Three Grain Brulee (oats). It is delicious. My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict and said it was superb (I'm not an egg person). The hash browns - YUM! I was suggested by a friend to come to this place to have breakfast because she says the food here is "yum". But actually it's way beyond that! The food here is absolutely amazing! I had the country steak that they had for brunch, and it's nothing like Danny's or IHop', it's satisfying when I had my first bite! Fun and delicious little stop in Lander. I go through Lander quite often as it's on the way to and from my parents' place. This place is great! Lots of breakfasts, sandwich items, and many other dishes. I've had the chicken salad sandwich, a steak sandwich, and also the chicken fried steak. All were great! They also make their own fries, sauces, and salad dressing. I like that they offer several side options such as salad and veggies. Great food and service! Cafe is really cute, and has an outdoor eating area this is beautiful. They serve several beers, plus mimosas that have homemade orange juice! read more

The Middle Fork is my favorite lunch spot in Lander. I love their gluten free selection and the service is always good. Today, however, I was disappointed. The staff were wearing their masks around their chins while serving customers. What's the point? Also, the lettuce served on one of our party's salad was wilted and had to be returned. Bottom line is, the Middle Fork is a great lunch spot and the food is truly wonderful, but management needs to talk to staff about COVID protocols (mask wearing) and more quality control as far as what food goes out. read more

Delightfully surprised by the menu options and the food quality. If I lived here, I'd frequent this spot for sure. The coffee was delicious, the sourdough pancakes were fluffy and fragrant and so good, and I know plantains in the Rockies is not a local food, but had to have the gallo pinto so I could enjoy them anyhow. We made this a breakfast stop on our way west. It was a busy morning but everyone was pleasant and the staff kept things running smoothly. My travel companion had a traditional breakfast of biscuits and gravy that were wonderful! I couldn't decide and asked the waitress what she would have and she recommended Gallo Pinto.
