My party of 4 came in for breakfast at about 10am on a Friday morning. It was seat yourself but we were quickly greeted after sitting down. Our drinks were brought promptly and orders taken and even though it was a bit longer wait for our food we did appreciate the fresh taste and hot food that was brought to our table. The breakfast quinoa bowl was delicious with the avocado and mushrooms. Highly recommended to order a side of Bernaise sauce. It elevated the dish to pure magic! It would've been Primo with some fermented red onions. They do have gluten-free bread, although I did not try it. read more

Well, if you are one of the coastal elite who have invaded the cowboy town that I've spent summers in for over 50 years, you might like this place, otherwise, steer clear of it. On the positive side, their outside dining space is delightful. Shady, tree filled and charming. If you simply want a place for a coffee and a chat - enjoy! Now to the food. The menu seems overthought from the get go. Constant references to local, housemade etc. It tries to sell a certain experience but completely fails to deliver. My mom and I both opted for a simple grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato bisque soup. Soup was solid if on the salty side. I almost have no words for how bad the simple grilled cheese was. No butter or oil of any kind on outside of sandwich. Cheese on inside was a slice of provolone and some scattered cheddar. Not even melted through. Tasted more like stale bread than grilled in anyway. Vessel for soup had such a small top opening that it was impossible to dip without cutting the sandwich beyond halves. (Isn't dipping what you order grilled cheese and tomato soup to do?) Water was never refilled at table despite two requests when they came by to refill coffee. My friends had a quinoa bowl with poached egg on top and the other a simple cheeseburger. Neither even finished half which tells me a lot. The friend who ordered a cheeseburger decided to try their "signature " sautéed spinach instead of fries as a side. His spinach side could have fit into a teaspoon. This place might appeal to the NOLA/girls with unshaven armpits crowd but for honest, hungry people- walk away. It's just a very bad presentation of cali style casual cuisine. BTW, four of us. Two grilled cheese/cup of tomato soup plates, two coffees, one quinoa bowl and one cheeseburger with a teaspoon of spinach- 100+ Unbelievable. The more I see all the gentrification of californication of Lander, the more I hate it and unfortunately, the Middle Fork pretty much sums up what is wrong with Lander's "emerging " food scene. read more

I previously reviewed this restaurant and loved it. Visited today and ordered the exact same breakfast featured in my earlier review (2 eggs to order). It was awful. Potatoes were burnt, scrambled eggs overdone and rubbery, spinach slimy and greasy. If that's still "locally sourced" bacon they should save themselves some money and go to Safeway. The Middle Fork was no exception. I appreciate when a chef curates french toast with unique breads. It's even more exciting and delectable when your hot meal is complemented with spreadable butter. This was a really fun dish to eat and of course I ate it all. I certainly would visit again to try some of their other dishes. I look forward to it. P.S. - I paid cash, so my meal was discounted. (i'm not a morning person so I'll love that they serve breakfast until 2pm) They have both the classic and one with lobster and I'm telling you the classic classic is the best I've ever had. This place is a jewel. The menu selection is incredible and creative. We ate here two mornings in a row because we wanted to try different things. The service was good but a bit slow. We sat on the outside, which is really a nice setting by the little creek, but that probably impacted the service somewhat. It is THE place for breakfast and brunch in Lander. read more

We were in Wyoming for baseball and looked up this place, there's not a whole bunch of places in this small town but this place looked good!! I love eggs Benedict and since I can't make them at home, I like to get them out places. These ones were a little different they come with spinach and tomatoes and a tarragon béarnaise sauce. It definitely gave it a little different taste than regular hollandaise sauce. I ordered it without tomatoes and a half order because I wasn't super hungry. If you like eggs Benedict and want to try a little different twist on it I'd get it. The potatoes were perfectly crispy too!! I don't like soggy potatoes or fries!! The service was nothing special but she was nice. They did say they had one cook so it was taking long which I always appreciate when they communicate plus I was in no hurry. After some 10+ days of hiking, peak bagging, rock climbing, roadtripping, and eating and drinking our way through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and North Dakota I can say... The Middle Fork was my favorite foodery of the whole dang trip! (and Lander my favorite town, but that's for another time) The first time we came the food was amazing, but the staff were definitely under-staffed and over-whelmed. The coffee refills were sparse. I'm glad we came back a second time, on a less busy (week) day and experienced stellar service! Maybe it's just because I live in Alaska, but I found the prices to be CHEAP and the quality to be HIGH! Everything was unique and lovingly made with local ingredients. When the food came out, everything was thoughtfully plated and gorgeous! This place makes me want to move to Lander. It's that good. read more

Service was terrible. This place is a tourist trap and most locals know to avoid it. They will routinely mess up your order or forget to serve you and refuse to take accountability for it. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt, poor service literally happens all the time here. read more

We are in town for just a few days and decided to try breakfast here. We were greated promptly and allowed to seat ourselves. I chose outside over the stream. My DH and I split the pancake breakfast because neither of us needs to eat the whole thing. The pancakes had that nice bite of sour dough flavor, the bacon was crisp - just the way I like it. This is my second time at Middle Fork. It is an adorable space but the service is horrible. The first time we dined there, the restaurant was not busy and it took forever to be acknowledged and once we were acknowledged, it took forever for the food to come out. The food was good but not worth the time. We went again today because our friends really wanted to go. They arrived before us and they ordered and let the server know we'd be joining them. When we sat down, we were not acknowledged for about 20 minutes. They took our order but did not offer refills or even seem to notice that out friends were still there. We got our drinks and then watched as every every other table was not acknowledged and the people who had finished their food had to get up and look for a server to get to-go boxes and their bills. We watched as new people came in and asked for tables to be cleared and they just dumped the old drinks on the ground. That was the last straw. By this point, it had been an hour for us and no sign of a server, no refills, no check-ins and no food. I had to go track down the server, tell her to give me the bill for our friends food and our drinks and to cancel our food. There was no apology, explanation; just attitude. I watched the other tables, this was happening to them too, so I'm not sure where all these raving reviews are coming from. It's a bummer. The menu and the food look great... if only you could actually receive it and have a server actually serve you. read more
