I'll be honest ..I went in skeptical. A Mexican restaurant on Brickell Key sounded like a recipe for all hype and no substance. Happy to report I was wrong. The food was genuinely very good, and the appetizers alone made the whole meal worth it. Both cocktails I had were refreshing and delicious. The Perfect Cucumber was vodka, Rumhaven coconut, cucumber, and lime. It was clean, light, and dangerously easy to drink. The Mujeres Divinas brought a little more complexity with hibiscus-infused Mi Campo blanco, Chartreuse, cucumber, agave, and lime. Both were exactly what you want on a warm night in Miami. The Lobster Elote is a must order..Maine lobster knuckle and claw meat with chipotle cream, Oaxaca cheese, roasted corn, Mexican crema, fresh Fresno chiles, and Tajín ... I could have eaten the entire plate by myself and had zero regrets. We also got the Aguachile de Ribeye, layered with avocado, radish, red onion, arugula, and cilantro in a roasted garlic and piquín chile with truffle oil. Think steak salad, but make it exciting. The Enchiladas de Pollo were fine .. solid but nothing that stood out. The Filet and Bone Marrow Tacos, on the other hand, tenderloin cooked in bone marrow, served on handmade tortillas. Worth it. We debated between the Cuatro Leches and the Campechana, and I'm glad we went with the latter ... vanilla ice cream, flaky sweet pastry, pistachio, walnuts, and dulce de leche. Simple but really good. Service was attentive and the overall experience was smooth. I'd sit outside. The patio has a gorgeous waterfront view that makes everything taste better.

Great new restaurant with a nice water way views on the terrace. Food was actually very good and strongly recommend it. The place has a nice modern chic theme that makes you feel you are in an upscale restaurant in Tulum or Riviera Maya. Music was pretty good too - they have a DJ that plays pretty good music. Bar has a lot of sitting. The hosts were accommodating, we were about 30 minutes past our reservation due to the traffic in downtown. The Lobster Elote was amazing and the guacamole was pretty good too.

I don't think I've ever felt compelled to write such a long review, but this restaurant deserves every word. Two weekends ago, my friends and I decided to try this place, and we loved it so much that before we even left, we booked my friend's birthday dinner for the following weekend. That alone says everything. Atmosphere is incredible, views are stunning, the interior is beautiful, and great music. It's lively without feeling overwhelming and somehow manages to feel both upscale and fun at the same time. The food is genuinely some of the best I've had in Miami. We have ordered the Hamachi Sashimi, Lobster Elote, Chicharrón de Ribeye, Black Angus Tacos, Manchego Whipped Potatoes with Chorizo Gravy, Coliflor Asada with Pistachio Nuts and Truffle-Habanero Pistachio Dressing, and the El Rey cocktail. I have to specifically talk about the Manchego Whipped Potatoes because they are, without exaggeration, one of the best things I've ever eaten. I've never seen potatoes done this way before, and they are absolute perfection. I could happily eat an entire bowl by myself. The Black Angus Tacos are insane and I already know they'll be something I order every single time I come back. I also love that they begin the meal with a colorful salsa flight ranging from mild to spicy. Every salsa tasted completely different, and each one was delicious. It's such a fun touch that immediately sets the tone for the meal. The El Rey cocktail is everything you want from a spicy marg, perfectly balanced, refreshing, and just the right amount of heat. The first time we visited, the service was fantastic. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely kind. Then came our second visit... It was THE BEST restaurant experience I've ever had. We were celebrating my friend's birthday with a group of ten, and the team went above and beyond from the very beginning. They accommodated all of our requests beforehand, were incredibly flexible, and even seated us in a beautiful private dining room at no additional charge. Our server, Alejandro, completely made the evening. He knew what we needed before we even asked, helped us split our order seamlessly, and brought so much fun to the table. He matched our energy perfectly, celebrated with us, joked with us, and made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. The manager, Michi, stopped by to check on us and couldn't have been kinder. Later, Pedro (the sommelier, I believe) came in with champagne, toasted the birthday girl with us, shared the story behind the champagne and the restaurant, and made what was already a wonderful evening feel even more special. As dinner wrapped, they even closed the room so we could enjoy ourselves a little longer and let us play our own music a bit louder, turning dinner into a celebration we'll NEVER forget. It has gone viral in our group chat. The best way I can describe the service is this: it reminded me of those special dinners on a cruise where you have the same waitstaff every night, they remember your name, your personality, what you like, and somehow make every evening feel completely personalized. That level of genuine hospitality is incredibly rare, and this team delivered it effortlessly. For such a new restaurant, I am honestly blown away. I've been telling everyone I know to go here!! This isn't just another great restaurant in Miami--it's an experience. And it's an absolute MUST.

Lobster elote, shrimp ceviche, pork belly

My best friend and I dined at The Mexican last Sunday, 6/14/26. Here we are, back home across the country and still talking about how amazing our experience was. For appetizers, we shared the pork belly, lobster elote and shrimp ceviche. It is very rare that I enjoy seafood, but the lobster elote was absolutely amazing. The ceviche was great, and the pork belly was to die for. Both the food runner and our server David prepared our plates and served the both of us, an exceptional addition to our experience. For dinner we shared the Enchiladas Chilangas and black angus tacos, both were also AMAZING. The black angus tacos seriously almost made me shed a tear. We finished the night with the champecana cake, which of course, was amazing. The interior of the restaurant is very well kept and gorgeous, the outside of course is to die for. We sat on the patio with a view that left us in awe and was the perfect cherry on top. What really made the experience so special was the service given to us by David and the whole team. Immediately, the hostess's were welcoming and polite. David was so helpful, he guided us through the menu, prepared our food for us, and anticipated any and everything we could've needed. He even asked us if we wanted us to take a picture of us and got all of our angels! (Important!!) the support staff was also especially helpful and attentive to our needs. Our previous experiences visiting spots in Miami left us underwhelmed especially in regard to service, but this team completely shifted this narrative and left us feeling taken care of and happy. I'm not sure how this place could receive a bad review, as everything we experienced was 10/0. A huge shoutout to David again as he made our experience especially unforgettable, he is definitely a gem! We are missing The Mexican and can't wait to hopefully come again next time!

This place was absolutely beautiful. So many details. The atmosphere, Food , drinks etc. everything was excellent. The staff were amazing. Friendly and Welcoming. Gave suggestions on what to order and it didn't disappoint. We had reservations and we were taken right on back upon arrival. Please not when making reservations if you are a party over 8 it is considered an event and they would have to speak with management before confirming the reservation. We were a party of 9 and they did call back fairly quickly to confirm.

This restaurant is a must! This is my third time here since they just opened a few weeks ago and I will keep coming back! The food is so flavorful and quality! The ambience is unique and beautiful. From the moment you enter, you can tell there was a lot of love thought in art but into Dee Dee designing and decorating the Mexican restaurant.. The service is top-notch. There are more staff working in this restaurant than the last three restaurants I've done at, combined.! Everyone is friendly and happy to be here and help, The one dish that I've repeated all three times is the Lobster enchiladas. Fresh lobster meat, and the sauce is divine! My husband loves the filet mignon enchiladas and we brought my mom here for her birthday dinner and she had a tortilla soup shared some of our enchiladas, etc.. Beautiful vibes, gorgeous view, and the best ambience. Perfect for groups, celebrations or a romantic date night.. I love that. We finally have a restaurant on Brickell Key that has a water view.. be sure and make a reservation because this place has been packed every night since it's opened and for a good reason!

Amazing over all experience! I don't know where to begin! Location is waterfront in Brickell Key! When you walk in aesthetics are breathtaking! The Lobby showcases their extensive tequila selection! You're greeted by beautiful hostesses who show you to your table. Jay our server was very helpful and educated on the menu items. He was very fun as well. Me and my sis ordered black angus tacos, lobster elote, filet mignon, tropical margarita, pistachio dessert and had espresso martinis! The star of the show is the Sea Bass ceviche this dish Will make you wanna slap your momma! Lol We had a chance to watch the sunset over the water as well! We left so satisfied and happy! Will definitely be going back!

We came for apps and drinks at the bar. Got there right when it opened at 4pm. They were still setting up and seemed a little disorganized; however, super attentive and friendly. New staff with startup restaurant learnings for sure but you can tell it's going to be short lived. The food was delicious and drinks were great and the restaurant is beautiful! We were in a rush but would have loved to stick around and experience the outdoor bar which opened a little later. The bathrooms weren't working which was not great but they were nice to take me to service bathrooms. Overall we want to come back and experience dinner and other dishes. Would recommend!

Brickell key just got one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Miami. Walking in to the Mexican you're first hit with a wall of mezcals and tequila giving you the vibes that you're in for a journey of great Mexican food. The service was as good as you'd expect at a classy Brickell key restaurant where the servers are constantly making sure your drinks are topped off and that their freshly made tortilla chips and salsa are there for easy pickings. When it comes to the food I was blown away with how fresh all the ingredients were and you can see how the chef really took notice to make every dish phenomenal. Everything was amazing but the milagro boneless ribeye with bone marrow to match really hit my soul. All in all I give this place a 10/10 for service, authenticity and transporting me back to Mexico all in one night.

First time dining here, and everything exceeded our expectations. The food, ambiance, and service were all outstanding. Carlos, our server, provided impeccable service and made the experience even better. As someone who loves Mexican food and has tried many Mexican restaurants in Miami, I can honestly say this is one of the best. We'll definitely be returning to explore more dishes from the menu.

Food, service and drinks 100/10. We ordered Aguachile de Ribeye appetizer and that was so amazing, the meat was cooked to perfection and there was so much flavor. I will still think about this dish years to come. Our server was very attentive and took the time to make sure we were well taken care of especially since my boyfriend was so kind to let them know it was my birthday. We were running behind and ended up calling to let the female host know that we were about an hour behind. She could have given us a little less attitude. Overall, I appreciate the staff and the food. Thank you for an incredible experience and the view was beautiful even with the rain. Cheers

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

We shared nachos with grilled steak, which were very good (they pour the melted cheese right at the table). We also ordered tripa tacos well toasted (that's the technique) as we requested, and they came out excellent. Note: They have different promotions or offers depending on the day, not a regular happy hour variety, so it's good to be aware of that. Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

One thing that caught me off guard: most of the table ordered tacos and enchiladas, but when the plates arrived, the "tacos" were essentially flautas and the "enchiladas" were more like tacos (the photo shown is the enchiladas). Naming aside, both dishes were delicious. We were also celebrating a birthday, and the staff sang for her and brought out a complimentary dessert--hands down the best brownie dessert I've ever had. The drinks were good, the food came out hot, and the ambiance was wonderful, with friendly, kind staff throughout. What did we order? Chorizo Queso: Not your traditional dipping queso, but FULL of flavor and the chorizo was great, decent portion. The table loved this. Comes with some warm fresh purple corn tortillas! 9/10 Guacamole: Nothing extraordinary, standard guac, I wish there was more guac and chips! The tortillas these come with are the same as the queso but fried and uncut. A little different but it was a nice change! 7/10 Chicken and Chorizo Enchiladas: Not your standard enchilada that you may be used to! Full of flavor though and everything was cooked very well! 8/10! Drinks: 10/10 Fair warning: expect a bit of sticker shock when the bill arrives.

I have heard so much around this place and I can confidently say it lives up to the hype!…read more Finding parking nearby is a bit tricky as it is only street parking and there's only outside dining available. The music selection is fire though and I was jamming out the whole time while waiting for my food. I complimented them on the music selection and they mentioned the owner is dominican and puerto rican which explained the great music selection. I was helped out by Adrian and his service was helpful in finding what dishes to order. I took my food to go and it was piping hot, definitely made fresh to order which I enjoyed. The nachos were what I was most eager to try as they are all the rage on social media. They lived up to the hype and that nacho cheese is absolute gold. I love that it's served in a pizza box. It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! All in all this place is fire and if you're craving nachos, this is definitely the place you should come to get your fix!

Ever since I tried their steak Caesar salad I've been obsessed. That was my usual from there for 5 years. 2 nights ago we ordered from uptown and when we got our order I was so angry I didn't want to even eat my food. 1. Steak literally looked like wet dog food 2. They no longer do the frisée salad instead It's just plain old Romaine lettuce 3. For some reason they stopped giving their salsa now which was the highlight of my order 4. The container is so small and the egg was so hot that it melted all the Parmesan cheese and it was just a nasty glob 5. The eggs were so over boiled that they had that grey tint on the yolk and smelled horrible 6. 2 salads cost almost $50 so jokes on us Never again!!! I've literally banned uptown from our house. The audacity to charge so much for a mid salad topped with nasty dog food looking "steak"
