I was really excited to try The Melting Pot for the first time. I grew up hearing how amazing it was, so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to them. The cheese flavors were very strong--so much so that they became a bit overwhelming and unenjoyable for me. The entrée was okay, but personally, I'd rather have my food fully prepared than cook it myself at the table. It just wasn't my preferred dining style. Our server was helpful, but since it was our first visit, we had several questions. At times, it felt like he may have been a bit bothered by them, which made us slightly uncomfortable. The food also took quite a while to come out--even though it was served raw--so we were a bit confused by the wait time. The highlight of the evening was when the manager approached us as we were leaving and invited us to take a photo at their photo booth. Four of us went to the Melting Pot and had the most wonderful evening. Our waitress, Amanda, was attentive and helpful. We ordered two- four course meals (2 people for $130 and it covered a cheese fondue, salad, entree, and chocolate fondue). We selected the Wisconsin cheddar and alpine (both were amazing- the cheddar particularly so), two of us the house salad with raspberry vinaigrette and two of us the cesar salad (I can attest the raspberry vinaigrette was SO good and the cesar was raved about), the grill was fun and the coq a vin delicious (and the meats were such good quality, tender, and not fatty at all), and finally the yin and yang, and the flaming turtle (both of which I'd highly recommend). The idea sounds cool, however, I was not impressed by the food and experience. For being something that we had to cook ourselves, I was not happy that the server was taking way too long, to bring the raw food that we had to cook. So that put the experience a little sour. However, I like to give establishments the benefits of the doubt by maybe trying the place out another time, to give the place a chance. The ambience was very nice. Besides our server (Amanda) being upbeat, friendly, professional and patient - she was very attentive and ensured we had the ultimate experience! The atmosphere here is comfortable and feels very private. It is just a little dark, so perhaps a small lamp on each table would be a good idea (especially when checking to see if the meat is cooked thoroughly). We used our phones as timers because of this reason! The food was top quality & all the meat was cut in pieces that weren't too big or too small. The menu has a lot of choices & it's always difficult to choose. They have a la cart options for those who just want a appetizer, salad, entree or dessert - along with a 4 course menu. We were here twice in the past month. The first trip was for happy hour at the bar. Our bartender was super friendly and the drinks were great. We also had cheese and chocolate fondue that was really good. We usually get the fiesta cheese and I request extra apples. The second trip was around my husband's birthday for Magical Dining month. I have been going to Melting Pot for like 15 years, and have never had such bad service. The only staff members that were friendly were the same bartender from last month that remembered us and the manager. We sat down to eat at 6pm and didn't leave until 8. The section we were in was pretty empty when we arrived, but it took a long time to order. Our cheese course was good, fiesta cheese with extra apples and soft pretzels. The dinner course was the main issue. Our meats and dips came out but no veggies. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. There seemed to be two other waiters in our section. I stopped a hostess and let her know about the veggies since she was the first person I saw after we had eaten over half our meats. The manager came around asking how everything was. I told him that I think our waiter quit or left since I hadn't seen him. I let him know about the veggies and eventually they were brought. In the meantime my husband went to the bar to get more ice water since both of ours were out and no one was coming around with water. Our chocolate course was good and our waiter did eventually come back. By this time our section was full. It seemed like we were his only table in this section or maybe he was a trial server. Normally at Melting Pot I'm use to someone checking on us about every 10 minutes - not necessarily the server, but someone. Magical Dining is a great deal. We would only be back to sit at the bar. You can eat there just as ease as sitting at a table with much better service. read more

The last time we went here it was for magical dining so I for sure wasn't prepared for the price, you know I almost compare it to like a Korean bbq because you have to cook your own food, but it felt like I was paying for much more. Nothing I ate was bad, I liked the meats and the dipping sauces. Dessert was a little too much sweet for me and honestly by that time I was very full but it's not a place you can really take leftovers...I mean the meat is raw so what's the plan there? Sure u could have taken the bite size pieces of dessert but my chocolate wouldn't have been the same. So I just stuffed it all in lol Our server was nice, gave my dad a hard time when my dad gave him one and that doesn't happen often so I was glad he held his own. He was slightly pushy on wanting us to write a google review, even having his Google review QR code on his personal cell phone that he tried to hand us. I won't use his name because I'm sure he was just doing what he was asked to do. We told him we were yelp humans and would write this review which didn't seem to please him as much. I would say the meal just took a little bit too long. We were there over two hours and not because we were eating the whole time or talking to each other but more because we were waiting for the next course or for our server to return. What a wonderful birthday I had at Melting Pot Orlando yesterday. First, the hostess Giovanna seated us, as requested by me, in a nice secluded area so my husband and I could enjoy our time together. She was so very cordial. Our server Carsen was amazing and "spot on" with her service. Everyone here is so very friendly and I personally suspect that they receive their training at Disney University. This place never disappoints which is why it is worth the drive for us (although the Tampa Melting Pot is closer to us where we live). We always decide to drive for quality of service and excellence in food prep/presentation/freshness etc. Definitely worth the drive. I will say that I was nervous because I'm not big at trying new things and I'm vex picky but I have to say I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to come again. Chris was our server and Judy was a helper and they were extremely nice and very helpful, courteous and enjoyable to talk with. The manager and hostess was just as nice, too. The atmosphere is so relaxing and fun... the music is fun... uplifting... it is immaculately cleaned. Even the bathroom is cute, especially the faucet. This was one of my favorite restaurant chains for a long, long time. I've also been to this location many times, but it has been probably 2 years. We decided to go for NYE. One thing that was a bit annoying was the price of the package we chose was slightly off from what they posted on OpenTable when we booked. Only a few dollars, but still, felt misleading. We were surprised how little of some of the sides they give you now. Obviously you can ask for more, but it was pretty sad to be given so little of the veggies with the cheese and entree and have to ask right away. Unfortunately even with asking with the entree right away, we never got it, 30+ minutes later once our server checked on us again we just decided it was too later and to forget it. But the veggies are always my favorite part. Our server was very nice, but not attentive at all. Granted it was NYE, but the servers around us were constantly checking back on their tables and we waited long, long periods of time to even ask for more water or pay the bill. I think the main issue was that our server didn't have any other tables in our section, so we were forgotten about. Food was very good, but I did feel the experience wasn't as good as it used to be. The servers used to do a lot more at the table, where not I assume most is done in the kitchen. Part of what I liked was watching it being made. read more

This is our first time at the Orlando location and it was a great meal. The Good: 1) Our server Jake was amazing! Super attentive and really on the ball. 2) The food was delicious (we did the classic 4 course for 2 people) 3) We were able to change things up based on dietary needs: I was able to get Gluten Free dippers and broth and my daughter subbed her shrimp out for teriyaki steak. Very accommodating. 4) The pacing between courses was good also. I've been to ones in the past that had us waiting a long time. This was just right. 5) The bathrooms were really nice The Bad: 1) Nothing really - just keep in mind it's more of a special occasion or date place, as the 4 course for 2 is over $100 without drinks. But I highly recommend it for special occasions. 2) It's dark - but that's their theme. Tips: If you are having a special birthday or celebration, you can also tell them ahead of time and order chocolate covered strawberries or balloons or a stuffed bear and they'll have it ready at your table when you arrive. We have been going to the Melting Pot for years, and we love it. It is a wonderful place to spend family time, although small children need to be closely supervised. Service is excellent. Some areas feel too tight, but the time you spend there is so wonderful that we kind of forgive that. Wow! Got there early and it was a happy hour so another fun experience is you roll a die and that determines how much you're gonna pay for your drink how fun and how cool is that . Ordered a glass of wine and if you roll a one you pay one dollar if you roll a two you pay two dollars if you roll a three you pray three dollars if you roll it's half off and if you paid the happy hour price . What an experience! it seems like a pricey experiences. All of the vegetables you can order in the amount of meats they give you take home enough for two more days of meals. That is not including your dessert and if you sign up for their email the next year when you come back or the next time you come back, you get a gift of chocolate covered strawberries . So it is worth it to go experience and learn the process. Enjoy this cooking class adventure.. so to speak. The food looks fresh the cheese fondue and broth that they make are made at the table so you get to see every ingredient that they put in it from the wine to the broth. Scallions is incredibly flavorful. And they add new recipes every year according to my friend that I was with from the past two years. It is a learning process, but how fun dipping your meats in cheese and broth and learning how long to keep it in there to the temperature that you want your meats or seafood. The conversations are flowing around the table of oh my next one I'm going to do this way or that way. Maria our server was extremely patient kind understanding knowledgeable in every stage of the process that we were getting ready to experience not touching the burner to suggestions and how you should dip one or two or three continues so that you are eating a meat all the time to suggestions on a broth or cheese to what type of meat that you order, and explaining all of the dipping sauces that comes with your experience. I've been to Melting Pot few times but my wife had never been so we set this as our anniversary dinner. I added this option (anniversary)in the online reservation for extra charge said included picture. Upon our arrival after short wait we were ushered to table to find rose petals waiting to set the mood. At this point we were introduced to our waiter and briefly explained how everything works for cooking and ordering. We both started w drink orders where the waiter then asked for my wife's ID but not mine. We both explained we were married for 4 years bc she didn't have ID w her. I asked the waiter why he carded her and not me, his response was "You are clearly older but she does not look old enough." Well you can guess that our opinion & interest in whatever else he said after was not good. I basically ignored him rest of night except to order. Other than that, you really can't go wrong w the food just choose starting fondue cheese, salad, cooking meats, cooking broth, & dessert. The meat pieces all cook in the broth for 4-5 minutes. Our food was great, our waiter was awful. The photo that paid extra for was not really explained well except that it was taken at end of dinner. Our amazing waiter didn't ever mention it again, we had to ask a bus boy where the Photo Booth was, and guess what never got those photos! We spent three hours to get through the cheese dip + salad + main courses + desert dip. While the food was good it was just really slow. I've been coming to this location for years and it's always a great experience. Depending on when you come, the parking lot can be a bit tough since there are other restaurants and businesses in that shopping center. For dining, you have three options: outdoor, high tops at the bar, and tables. I always prefer getting one of the more private tables. I usually make reservations on OpenTable and make the request. I've tried almost all of the cheese fondue at this point. On my most recent trip we opted for the Bacon and Brie and I absolutely loved it. It's definitely for people who like a stronger, sharper cheese but I thought it was fantastic. I'm boring with the next two courses because I always get the same thing...Caesar salad and the big night out with the mojo broth (that broth is amaaazing with the veggies, I always leave them a little extra than they recommend and they soak up the flavor). My husband and I dined at this The Melting Pot location this past weekend after not visiting any location in about 5 years. We were both very pleased to see the improvements that have been made in that amount of time although, let's face it, it was already pretty darn good to begin with! One notable improvement is their vegan meatballs which are now made with Impossible burger rather than whatever it was they were using before. Anywho, the service was great -- our server was truly a gem and he made our visit extra enjoyable. He was friendly, professional, hospitable, and funny. We really enjoyed him. The hostess at the front was very sweet as well. Excellent customer service! Now, here's the reason why, despite the wonderful experience we had, I had to take off one star -- once we arrived home, we realized I didn't receive the Wild Mushroom Ravioli that was part of our order so that was quite disappointing.
