Kala Rooftop Lounge was such a great experience, and I'll definitely be back! The atmosphere, service, and overall vibe made for an enjoyable evening. To start, I ordered the spring rolls and the salmon bites. Both appetizers were delicious and made excellent starters. My only suggestion would be to include a little more sauce with the salmon bites. Even so, they were incredibly flavorful and enjoyable on their own. For my entrée, I had the lamb chops with basmati rice. The lamb chops were absolute perfection--cooked perfectly, tender, and seasoned exceptionally well. The basmati rice, however, was a bit dry, and I think it would have been much better with a gravy or sauce. Looking back, I wish I had ordered the mashed potatoes instead. I also swapped out the roasted potatoes for French fries, which ended up being the better choice for me. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and a great atmosphere. Very good food. Free parking lot. Hookahs. Pool. There were very few people and the ambiance was weird because some people were at the pool, while others were in cute outfits having lunch. The three lounge chairs were pushed up next to the pool but the tables were right there also so it was funny to imagine them leaning back to sunbathe and people eating right on top of them. Good food, fresh and hot, nice drinks. I loved the smell going into the lobby. Next time, we will try the lobby restaurant! read more

Came to Ka La for my friend's birthday dinner during our birthday trip to Orlando. The food is Halal/Mediterranean type food. Delicious. Nice portions. I had the blackened fish. It came with rice and a salad. The service was good! The waitress was helpful and sweet. The location is cool. The rooftop of the Cambria hotel. There is a pool in the middle of the lounge. I am honestly so dissatisfied and disappointed with this establishment. We had a reservation for 10:45, but due to an emergency we needed to move it to 11:30. It took over 30 minutes just to get in contact with the host and have the reservation changed. The only request I had was to be seated somewhere with a nice background for photos since it was my birthday. I understand that the restaurant was busy, so I didn't make a big deal out of it, but we ended up staring at a dirty white wall the entire time. The food took an extremely long time to arrive, and the hookah alone took over an hour to be served. Our server barely checked on the table, rarely refilled drinks, and the tables themselves were unstable and constantly moving around. It was very obvious they were understaffed. To make matters worse, they automatically added a 20% gratuity for parties of six or more. The server received a $33 tip from our check alone, not including the gratuity and tips from the other checks at our table. Considering how poor the service was, that is already a significant amount. Despite that, she still had the nerve to make a face and ask for an additional tip. Overall, the experience was disappointing from start to finish, especially for a birthday celebration. Located in the Cambrio hotel on the rooftop overlooking Universal Studios, this lounge was overall pretty good vibes. Server was mid tier seemed like he was new but the host was awesome, and helped us order an off menu drink. My friend, a fellow brown guy, found it interesting the baba ganoush was topped with balsamic, but the app was still relatively enjoyable (a brown guys take). Overall, this is a great date night spot with decent food but better atmosphere. I would recommend the kofta kebab, that was the highlight. I'm curious what this place looks like during the daytime and if anyone goes in the pool. Their margs and mojitos would hit during a day party poolside. read more

We dropped off my nieces at universal studios and found this place through TikTok and Instagram. There was no parking specifically for the restaurant. The front desk lady told us to park at Walgreens or the record store. Both of which had Towing warning signs. We ended up parking at the golf store parking lot which the receptionist at the lobby of the hotel said it was ok to so. He then kindly showed us to the elevator, (they need to fix the walkway to the restaurant) the place had a really nice vibe. The lighting and music were on point, and the atmosphere met all my expectations. The hotels center pool made it more beautiful. The only letdown was the food--specifically the meat portions. I got the lamb chops and was surprised to get just three tiny pieces, along with some rice and salad for $30. That felt pretty overpriced. The salad was okay, but the hummus was watery and topped with something like balsamic glaze or pomegranate molasses. That's not a typical topping, which made me wonder if the chef really knows traditional Mediterranean food. Still, I'd come back to try other things on the menu. I'd probably return just for drinks and dessert. Overall, it was a good experience, just not what I'm used to when it comes to Mediterranean food, especially coming from the Midwest where portions are bigger and more traditional. We waited at the host stand for several minutes with no acknowledgment. Eventually, the bartender or server came and told us he couldn't help because he had two tables...without offering us a seat or any alternative. We turned around and left. Our company was hired to DJ at this establishment on five separate occasions with an agreed rate of $200 per event. Unfortunately, we were never fully compensated for our services. We received one partial payment, and the check issued to us was later returned due to insufficient funds. We have made multiple attempts to resolve the matter directly with the owner and were repeatedly assured that payment would be made, but as of today, the balance remains unpaid. I wanted to take my girlfriend somewhere nice to celebrate her, so I picked this spot and spent over $115 on the meal. Both of us ended up having a bad reaction to the hookah(which has never happened), so when I mentioned it at checkout -- politely -- the manager came over. Instead of apologizing like a normal person would, he tried to blame us, saying we'd melted the cheap plastic tube ourselves. Somehow their bad product was our fault. And just when you think it couldn't get worse, it did. He got loud, got right in my face, and was aggressive and confrontational the entire time. Zero class, zero professionalism, and zero accountability. I've dealt with plenty of people before, but this guy was something else -- just a nasty attitude from start to finish. Our waitress, on the other hand, was sweet and only two days new. She did a great job, and none of this is on her or the rest of the staff. But honestly, I feel bad for the employees stuck working under someone like that. If he treats paying customers like this, I can't imagine how he treats them. Good people, terrible boss. I was just trying to have a nice night with my girlfriend, and this manager -- who clearly thinks he's the main character -- ruined that. It was a really nice environment. However they don't make it easy to figure out parking. Because of this we were late to our reservation by about 10 minutes, which was our fault, but they assured us it was no problem and sat us immediately. We were staying at the hotel and figured since this restaurant had such good reviews we figured we's give it a try. 2 stars simply for the ambience/view, but unfortunately that was the only positive of the evening. Service was slow/inattentive, we actually received food and waited 10 minutes before someone came by for us to tell them we didn't have any silverware. The chicken we had was entirely small bones, so there wasn't really anything to eat, and for the price we were hoping for more. I will say there was some sort of event/birthday party happening which seemed to take all of the staffs attention, however I wish they would have closed to the public as opposed to taking our money for subpar service and food. read more

This place was such a miss. I went in with a handful of people. I understand we are a big party I really do. But restaurant was pretty dead. I waited a ridiculous long time for just burgers and a wrap. Over a hour. I've been seated super fast at other places and brought out food at an appropriate time. Waiter didn't introduce herself and didn't even check up on us. When asked about our food we told her we've been waiting a long time it's unreasonable. My friend asked for a discount which in my eyes is reasonable. Waiter got snarky and passive aggressive with us. She told us " your wait time is reasonable for a restaurant. And for our wait time." She also said "Well was your food cold though?" in a rude way. We responded "Well was it good though?" She said that's a "different discussion for another time".. no it's a restaurant.. how food taste is apart of conversation ma'am. AWFUL EXPERIENCES DO NOT GO. Horrible and hot atmosphere. Employees couldn't bother to come to the table and they were to busy talking to each other at the front of the restaurant. Including the hostess who stood at the front on his personal phone. The food and drinks took forever. We got water and ice at the beginning and none the rest of the night and a member of our party had to go and get bottles of water from the bar and bring them back to our table. Including another member of our party brining menus out when more than half of them had either a blank canvas or an entire page missing from the menu. For a restaurant that has 80$ plates and you can't even have correct menus before you hand them out is RIDICULOUS. We were also placed directly next to a shower that went off almost directly on top of our table. It was going for about 15 seconds to the point we had to yell across the entire restaurant for help but the staff was to worried in having conversations with each other they didn't even bother to look up/come over. It took a member of our party turning the shower off. Got a bad attitude the entire night and will never be going back here. They also never said we would have to pay for water and changed out table AND said we could only do one check.... This place is a scam and will do anything to take your money. Not worth the price. Dry food and I would have been happier going to the KFC across the street. read more

Went on a Saturday and they only have the weekend menu available which wasn't what I was expecting. It is very limited and just doesn't hold the weight that is expected. The ambiance is what is advertised but be advised if it rain it is outdoors so you are sitting in small covered areas with nothing but humidity. David did try his best to accommodate with fans and his customer service skills are great! I have to complain about the salad that came with the mixed grill plate which came with small chunks of lime cut up with the skin. Please imagine taking a bit of a sale and getting a like with skin which is extremely bitter. We ordered a piña colada and they advised they didn't have a blender. We then ordered a strawberry margarita and they came back and said they didn't have strawberry. It has potential but definitely needs some help. read more

This restaurant was extremely disappointing. I was really looking forward to the roof top experience and menu I found online but nothing was as pictured. The ambiance was very underwhelming, furniture was aged and heavy, and bathrooms shared with the hotel pool. But that doesn't even hold a candle to the poor food and service. The staff was very overwhelmed and didn't bring water for nearly an hour. Food took another hour and one of our guests' dinners never arrived. The food that did come to the table was overcooked and tasteless. We had brought clients for a nice outside experience and were very embarrassed by the whole experience. I waited 30 minutes for my food to be brought out, just to be brought the wrong meal. We had no silverware on the table. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops. His rice was clumpy and the lamb chops were overcooked. 10 minutes later my food comes out. The silverware was also brought out then. By this time, my boyfriend's food was cold.
