Right off the bat our server, Rebekah, was FANTASTIC. Could not recommend her enough. We had reservations at 7pm, and they sat us right around that time! We got two Hugo spritz's which were delicious, the fondue and butternut squash soup to start. Everything was super delicious, we never stopped and thought "where is our food", and Rebekah checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. For the main dish we had the vegan steak and the salmon. The vegan steak is to die for. It's sooo yummy, and doesn't feel like you are eating veggies at all. The salmon wasn't anything special, but it was still good enough that we ate it all! The sauce they put it in was very good. We had the s'mores for dessert which was such a fun experience. And we ordered two more spritz's. Even after our check was paid we didn't feel rushed at all, and we got to finish our drinks in peace. The place itself was super cute. We sat in an area looking outside which was nice. It didn't feel super crowded or packed together. I didn't see any booths which was fine, but we usually prefer a booth over normal seating. Another great dinner at Bigfire. This time we were seated in the main downstairs area and it was a busy night. We frequently had people squeezing in between our table and the other ones next to us. I would recommend requesting to sit upstairs. They have some cool seating where you can look over the edge. Our food was delicious, as always, and perfectly cooked. Came in here to have a drink and to avoid the crowds at the Universal buses. We sat at the bar because the wait for a table was a little longer than we would have liked. Recommended by a friend, I made a reservation at Bigfire during a recent trip to Universal for a conference. Unfortunately, this ended up being a one-and-done experience for me. Like many of the restaurants at CityWalk, it just didn't deliver. We started with the fondue appetizer, which was good overall, but still a little lacking in flavor. Decent, but nothing memorable. I also ordered the corn bisque to start, and that was a definite miss. The popcorn was odd and completely unnecessary, and the soup itself was bland almost reminiscent of baby food. Terribly under-seasoned. For my main course, I chose the bone-in short rib. The portion was shockingly small for the price less than the size of a deck of cards. The meat was tender and could have been flavorful, but the cold, unpleasant BBQ sauce on top completely ruined it. It was served with an ear of corn that was shriveled, overcooked, and cold, along with a piece of jalapeño cornbread so hard you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. We sat upstairs and had a whole view of the entire restaurant. Rebekah was our awesome server. We started with the wedge salad since I had been craving one! It came with avocado, red onions, tomatoes, egg, bacon, blue cheese dressing. Each and every ingredient was extremely fresh and delicious. I got my bacon bits on the side. Bigfire is unique in that they enhance their flavor by using live fire and two types of wood for the taste of the meat. We ordered the 14 oz ribeye and the bone in short rib along with the Pork Mac and cheese. My mouth is seriously watering thinking about how delicious and flavorful it all was!!! The bone in short rib was Carolina barbecue style served with grilled corn on the cob, vine tomatoes, cipollini onions, spicy maple glazed jalapeño and cornbread. It actually melted in our mouths and was falling apart with each move of our fork. The ribeye came with asparagus and chimichurri sauce on top. The meats were so incredibly tasty. For dessert, we got the Rocky Road Baked Alaska which came with chocolate ice cream, toasted marshmallows, caramel praline crust, huckleberry core, meringue, and was torched tableside which was fun to witness!! Universal Studios designed restaurant in the heart of Universal City Walk . It's huge ! I went with the Steak Knife Burger - 1/2lb. black Angus beer, honey pepper bacon, smoked pimento cheese, bib lettuce, tomato, signature brioche bun. The burger was juicy and that honey pepper bacon was the perfect combination. The bun was not too overwhelming. The french fries served with the burger not your typical shoestring, pretty big. And very salty. The service was really good, I asked to be moved as a single diner. I was placed in a heavy traffic area. Luckily, I was moved to the second floor, which I suggest for anybody looking for a nice area to dine in this restaurant. BigFire is Universal Citywalk's steakhouse. Place is smack dab in the center of it, so you can't miss it. Their shtick is grilling steaks over wood, which is never a bad thing. Got seated upstairs as we were a larger group. Service was perfectly fine. Otherwise the place looks very average modern-like, aside from the grilling pit itself which is cool. Got the smoked old fashioned which was the strangest preparation I've had. It was not smoked tableside, and instead the waiter came to simply pour it tableside which was absolutely pointless. What I got was overly sugary, small, and with a tiny ass ice cube that watered it down immediately. Truly bizarre. We got the bourbon cheese fondue for an appetizer which was utterly forgettable. The cheese had minimal flavor including the mentioned bourbon. It was basically just about the sides, including the grilled bread, potatoes and shishito peppers which were good by themselves. Also really hard to share with a large table, so no clue why this was suggested to us. Personally I preferred the bread we got instead. I ordered the boneless ribeye and what I got was fine. Not the best but quality of cut of meat, however I'm really glad I listened to the reviews and ordered the 'red chimichurri' on the side. No clue why they thought rebranding unflavorful pepper butter was a good idea versus I just steak sauce, or God forbid, regular chimichurri; if anything this I would've removed any hint of smoke from the wood, which was minimal anyway. Potato au gratin were drowning in cheese and not too edible, while the asparagus was good enough even if it was way oversized. We skipped dessert as I don't think anyone around the table was blown away. I know my son's chicken tenders looked nasty as hell. Disney Springs kicks the ever living shit out of City Walk if this is the best they have. Such a miss not having better options right outside the parks. I have to be honest, I didn't know what to expect when my friends and I made a reservation at Bjgfire. I go to Universal Studios quite often, but I never really eat in CityWalk. We had a concert to attend that evening and decided to check out Bigfire. My advice is to make a reservation ahead of time because it does get busy. We were sat by the windows which was a great view of CityWalk and good people watching opportunity ;) Since we were pressed for time, I ordered the burger and fries. I have to say, the burger was really delicious. If was juicy and cooked to perfection, Our waitress was great and made sure we had everything we needed. My group was seated at 9 pm and the staff were friendly! You can tell they're tired, but they still provided top notch service. This restaurant does walk-ins (we waited an hour), but definitely recommend a reservation! It's a nice place to wind down after a day in the parks, but it's not super casual. Definitely date night vibes! I like being able to come from the main entrance and not walk a billion steps to have good food! The menu is on the pricier side, but the food was really good. I got the Rack of Lamb cooked medium and the sauce was phenomenal! It had a hint of sweetness that just elevated the taste! It's probably the best rack of lamb I've ever had! One of the nicer restaurants in Universal Orlando's Citywalk. Bigfire is very proud of their grill especially their steaks. And for good reason. It's quite well known on the Citywalk at Universal. It has a large presence with seating upstairs with a view that overlooks Citywalk I was told. The view of the fireworks is a plus I was told. I did not get a chance to go upstairs. Maybe next time. The decor is very contemporary with dark walls and curtains but warm comfortable lighting. Our 6 top was seated immediately on relatively busy Monday night. Our server Christina was very knowledgeable and answered any questions. She took our drink orders and returned with a huge loaf of their artisan sourdough bread. It came with some of their herbed butter and peach jam. Yom Yom Yom. I tried their Blackberry Breeze mocktail. Fresh blackberries in ginger beer and spiced blackberry with more crystallized ginger... wow. I really loved this drink! Yom Yom Yom Yom! We tried the Fondue app with braised pork. The dish arrived in a large round wooden bowl with segregated compartments. In the middle was the large warm bourbon cheese fondue topped with the braised pork. In the compartments around it were the grilled asparagus, roasted marble potatoes, shishito pepper and carrots. I kid you not when I say everything just disappeared in about 2 minutes! You can tell that this was not her first night because Christina left the fondue skillet for use to dip our sourdough bread in. Yom Yom Yom Yom! Pulled Boar Sandwich: Being used to Alabama BBQ, this sandwich was a little underwhelming. BBQ can be very finicky to some and Rachel just wasn't feeling it tonight. Sam tried the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Crispy jalapenos, honey glaze, pepper bacon, arugula on a brioche bun that was charred with the name of the restaurant... a nice touch. It must've been good because he finished it. Tammy sampled the Shrimp & Smoked Cheddar Grits. The grits were a little thicker than what I prefer but it still had great flavor. It's probably thicker because it had more cheddar in it. The crispy pieces of kale underneath added a nice contrasting flavor. The shrimp were seasoned beautifully and tasted so good. Yom Yom Yom. Jeff and Christi got the steak. Specifically the filet and the boneless ribeye. The presentation was spot on and the cook on them was as ordered. I didn't hear any complaints from either especially Jeff who had been craving a steak. Their side of au gratin potatoes was also spot on. I ordered the Brook Trout. Instead of the salad, I replaced with asparagus. It was so good from our app that I had to have more. The roasted marbled potatoes were spot on. But the hero of the meal, the trout... yom yom yom yom. My almost whole trout with tail still attached (minus the head) looked like it was butterflied with the fish intact and grilled. Each side was rather "thin" and I was amazed at how the trout was not over cooked and dry. Nicely done, Bigfire! You're vacationing at Universal and you want a steak, and good steak without leaving the park area. Bigfire is your answer! At first when I looked at the menu, I was taken back by the prices. Yeah, steak is expensive and this is a resort, but it was a bit much unless I considered it a splurge dinner. But I went and ordered anyway. Then when I really looked at the menu I realized that each steak comes with sides. The filet came with a potato gratin and asparagus. Sure, I could get more sides and pay another $10-20 per, but this was plenty. So honestly, it was actually reasonable given it is steak and this is Universal. Oh, and the steak was great! read more

Another excellent experience at bigfire. My husband says their burger is the best in Orlando and I can't argue. It comes with a heaping side of fries dressed in Parmesan. The mussels are so good we get two orders. Their kids meals are fantastic and generously sized. Be aware the lids on the kids cups don't fit perfectly. Proceed with caution. The fondue is an absolute must and if you ask nicely they may bring you extra shishito peppers. Autumn was our server and she was so attentive and kind even when we dropped all our apple juice. For a tourist restaurant it was good. I live in the greater Orlando area and would not make a reservation here again. It is good for a CityWalk restaurant and if you are visiting and want a steak dinner, I would recommend it. Our server was really good and made some great suggestions. Two of us had the New York strip steak. It was cooked to order and had a good flavor. We also enjoyed those strawberry shortcake and skillet dessert. The food is overpriced, completely lacking in flavor, and the service isn't much better. I stopped in while waiting for traffic to die down and figured I'd continue my search for a good burger at CityWalk by trying this place out. I only ordered an Old Fashioned and fries, but honestly, if a restaurant can't get fries and an Old Fashioned right, it doesn't give you much confidence in anything else on the menu. So won't be coming back to try the burger I sat at the bar, and the service was slow and not attentive. Lately it's been hard to have a properly cooked steak, but at Bigfire I got exactly what I ordered: a medium rare NY Strip and was happy as can be! The side of gratin potatoes weren't the best and left much to be desired. They were cold and not very flavorful. My kid ordered the lamb and the farro salad that came with it was hands down the best side I've had in my life. It was warm and had texture while being soft. "A Massive Disappointment" We waited 45 minutes for our entree. I ordered the Filet Mignon medium, but it arrived rare. The waiter took it and said they would bring another one. After a half hour, we gave up and asked for the check. The manager offered to remove the charge for the steak but nothing else. After negotiating, he removed $19 from the $107 bill. Went there Sunday for brunch with some friends. Decided to go with the chicken and waffles on their brunch menu as I was a teeny bit hungover from the night before. When it arrived I was very dissapointed. They served me three mini waffles and one chicken tender cut in half. The server was honestly hesitant to even set it down as she knew something wasn't right. I didnt want to complain to I just decided to eat it. Two bites in and the chicken was so over cooked and dry it was hardly edible. I just sat there while everyone else ate their food. My wife was letting me nibble off of her plate as she didn't think she could eat all of hers. A few moments later a manager came to the table with two more chicken tenders and apologized and said "I think we left some chicken off your plate and wanted to bring it out to you." At that point in time I said I would honestly like to order something else as my chicken was overcooked and th waffles were now cold. He was happy to make that happen and a steak omelet came out quickly. The omelet was pretty damn good too! I applaud the manager for owing the mistake and making it right. What grind my gears is a chef behind the line, the expo, and the server all thought that was acceptable to serve that dish for $29... Just sharing the experience and pictures. read more

Decided to make a reservation here while hitting Halloween Horror Nights this year. What a surprise to find a nice higher end restaurant among the touristy offerings at City Walk. This place has a cabin in the mountains vibe with a very friendly staff. Our server was Mario and he was excellent! I ordered the PB&J old fashioned and asked if it was sweet. Mario acknowledged that it was and suggested their regular old fashioned. I asked if the bartender could inverse the ratios of screwball peanut butter whiskey and the four roses bourbon and he made it happen. A very tasty old fashioned. We ordered the filet mignon (that came with au gratin potatoes and roasted asparagus) and the rack of lamb. We also opted for the grilled shrimp add on. The food was incredible! The cherry and oak wood combination they use to cook their steaks delivers a delicious finish. The au gratin potatoes were the best we ever had. The potatoes were thinly sliced to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Both the filet and lamb were cooked to a perfect medium and very lean. The grilled shrimp were amazing. The Cajun seasoning and smoke from the grill left a truly memorable side dish. Can't express enough how good the food was. For dessert, an Uncle Nearest flight! Presented in a very cool flight board and generous pours. Hope they change up the flight offerings regularly so you can try different bourbons/whiskey on your next visit. Our poor experience started before we walked in. There is a small stand outside where you check in, the host behind the desk didn't acknowledge us for 5 minutes. She kept talking into her earpiece without saying anything to us. We were on time for our reservation for three people, but one of our party hadn't arrived yet. She declined to seat us, but we were on a time crunch, so we asked if we could amend our reservation to only two people. She said no, we asked to speak to a manager. They came out, talked to the host for about 30 seconds and went back inside. The manager didn't address us at all, the host said we could wait in the lobby to check in at another hostess stand. We tried to check in at this second desk and they told us that we couldn't be seated since our entire party wasn't there. We went through the process again until we were finally sat about 20 minutes after our reservation. It was a very frustrating start to our dinner. I understand upholding the policy to seat entire parties only, but the restaurant had available reservations and we attempted to amend our party to two. The restaurant has an upscale vibe without a dress code since it's on CityWalk where people are often coming from or going to Universal or Islands of Adventure. Our server was attentive and made sure everything came out well. The food was good overall, but I would get the steak with the chimmichuri sauce on the side next time, it ended up being quite oily. Highlight of the meal was the tableside s'more's! So much fun to roast marshmallows at the table and build your own with Hershey's chocolate, peanut butter cups, graham crackers, and three kinds of marshmallows including vanilla and chocolate made in house. Overall the host and reservation debacle is really dragging my rating down. I would give the host/management 0/5 stars and the food 4/5 if I could, unfortunately that averages out my current 2 star rating. This was so soft, huge, and came with a peach orange marmalade and a soft savory butter. It was a large mini loaf. My husband ordered the scallops that came with corn. 3 large scallops that were perfectly cooked. These sat on tope of a sweet corn relish. I ordered the 8 oz filet, ordered medium plus. It was cooked perfectly. That being said, if you like yours medium, order it medium. I ordered mine medium plus since most places cook medium a bit under done for me. However they cooked it as ordered and it only had a pink middle. No other pink. For dead we had the baked Alaska which was a real treat flambéed table side. The food was pretty good. Please keep in mind we didn't have any of the main dishes and just ordered sides. With that being said, the portions were very generous. I had the pork Mac n cheese and it was good. The only thing that threw me off was that the pork had bbq sauce and I'm not a fan of the sweet and savory combination. The mac n cheese was good but I did have to add salt and it was a little runnier than I'm used to for Mac n cheese. The loaded fries were really, REALLY good!! I thought it would be similar to the Ale House but definitely not. It had 2 types of cheese, hearty pieces of bacon and sour cream. Our waitress, Iliana, was awesome! Last night was an unbelievable dinner at Bigfire. We had the bread service with the herb butter and apricot jam. We dined on the vegan mushroom dish as well as the risotto and Mac and cheese. Bigfire serves up American food in a slightly fancier way. It's located in City Walk at Universal Orlando. Bonus is you can make reservations for this restaurant! I've been here twice and it can get packed so the reservation is the key here. Service has been pretty good on our visits. The restaurant itself is large and open. You can walk by and see the hard work going on in the kitchen which is pretty cool! Food wise, I have had the bison burger and the salmon sandwich. I preferred the flavors of the burger more than the salmon. The salmon was also hard to eat and it fell apart. I ended up eating most with a fork and knife. Sent two steaks back due to the steaks not being what we ordered (medium rare). First being too done, second too rare. Would have sent the third steak back for being too rare again but didn't want to cause a scene only gave one star back because they did take it off the check. I didn't get why a steak place couldn't get a steak right until I saw that they actually cook the steaks over fire, which probably leads to some quality control issues. Regardless, just be aware that the steaks may not be done to your exact liking. read more
