Have dined here twice now & you can't beat the ambiance or the food. Right on the Boardwalk, and the restaurant feels elevated without being stuffy (guests allowed to wear whatever they wore at the park). Food is spectacular with prices that reflect that. Great spot for special events and celebrations. Our server was great (wish I could remember his name right now, started with an A and he's been there 10+ years). A seasoned pro. I will say the one downside was we had a very poor experience with the hostess (name started with a Z) and I sincerely hope she is no longer employed with the company, such a poor reflection of Disney. When we arrived, another host was ready to seat us and the other rude hostess (Z) snatched the menus away and said the table wasn't ready. Mind you, so many tables were empty & they were not busy so I'm not sure why she created such a fuss in front of the guests. We did eventually get sat but such a poor way to start off a very expensive dining experience. I later told the manager on duty about this and he did not seem particularly surprised which leads me to believe this happens regularly, but he always wasn't particularly sympathetic, so I'm not sure he cared really. Our overall experience was very good; the only reason it loses one star is the final billing. Be CAREFUL if you split the check!! The recommended tipping schedule is based on the ENTIRE bill, not just your portion. I'll provide more on this at the end of the review. We arrived a little after 9pm after having a cocktail at the AbracadaBar. Flying Fish is one restaurant on one side of the bar with an Italian restaurant on the opposite side. Since we had eaten at the Italian side previously, we went with Flying Fish as we were both ready for seafood. We approached the hostess stand and stated we did not have a reservation. She asked if we would care to sit at the bar and we both said yes. We were led to our seats and greeted by the 5-star bartender, Daniel! He was the perfect bartender; he was pleasant, punctual and checked on us regularly. We had a great rapport with Daniel, and he added to our enjoyment of the evening. He made several suggestions (some of which we had already agreed on perusing the menu) and we placed our orders. We shared the appetizers as well as our entrees so that we could have a well-rounded tasting of the menu. We started with the Lobster Bisque ($19), which Daniel split into separate bowls for us based on my friend's request. It was tasty, but I don't think I found one piece of lobster in my bowl. We also shared the Steamed Mussels ($20) which included house-made sweet sausage in the pork broth and a delicious black garlic aioli on the side. We both agreed the mussels were quite small, but they were good. They were served with burnt toast which was not visually appealing. I took the charred one so that my friend could have the less burnt one. I'm surprised the kitchen allowed it to be presented that way, but it was the end of the evening. For our entrees, I chose the Plancha-seared Scallops ($54) with savory grits and sweet corn, and my friend had the Chilean Sea Bass ($54) with potatoes. The presentation of both was outstanding and the taste of each was phenomenal (we shared)! The Sea Bass was covered in a crispy fish skin on top of the filet that was translucent, and it had an interesting taste. I went with the recommended wine pairing of the Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay ($29) and my friend had the BIN 702 Rose ($21). The meal and the wine accompaniments were excellent! Which brings me back to the checks. We were having such a good time (Daniel even commented on our energy and was glad we sat at the bar), that we really didn't pay attention to the tip recommendations. We signed off on our bills and a few minutes later, I realized I gave over a 40 percent tip based on the tip recommendations! I pointed this out to my friend, and she did the same thing, too! She thanked me for catching it because hers was a business meal expense and she could have gotten in trouble for such a large tip. Daniel said we could just initial our changes, and he would take care of entering in the correct amounts. He apologized and said the computer system printout of the bills provides recommended tips on the total charge rather than individual split portions. Recommendation to the Flying Fish staff - this should be pointed out to the customer(s) when a split bill is provided or at least it should be highlighted on each split bill that the recommended tip is based on the total billing rather than your individual tab. read more

The quest to try every Disney restaurant continues. Flying Fish is located at the Disney's Boardwalk Resort. If you are at EPCOT, you can leave through the south exit and walk to the resort in about 10-15 minutes. Or because I was tired, I took the boat and it is the first stop on the boat leaving EPCOT and it lets you off basically at the restaurant. The restaurant opens at 5pm and I did not have a reservation so I decided to show up right at 5pm. I walk in and asked if the bar is first come first serve and the hostesses say yes. I go and sit at the bar (I'm the first person in the entire restaurant) and the bartender tells me I need to go back to the hostess stand and have them seat me at the bar. I get up confused and halfway back to the hostess stand one of the hostesses is walking over with a menu and taking it to where I was sitting at the bar. I thought this is weird. And then, another minute goes by and another girl comes up to me and asks me if I asked the hostess if I was allowed to sit there. Hello make up your mind restaurant. Either this is open seating or it isn't. How many people need to check in and see if I'm allowed to eat here. Once again, I am literally the only person here. After getting that all cleared up, I then was given a bartender who might as well been Where's Waldo. She let my water sit empty 45 minutes at a time. Was no where to be seen, and had nothing to say other than what do I want? Service here is a 0/10, hence I removed a star. Now, onto the food: I sat next to these 2 guys that told me that had been coming to this restaurant for 20+ years and had seen multiple renovations. They were definitely telling the truth as half the restaurant staff came over to greet them. All 3 of us joked how much horrible the service was this night. They didn't eat meat, but said this was their favorite Disney seafood restaurant. I don't eat seafood, but they named all of my favorite Disney restaurants also as their favorites so I think we mostly agreed on quality food. The menu here is pretty small. For an appetizer I had the $19 slow-roasted pork belly. I thought it was excellent and would definitely order it again. Not a huge portion though. For my entrée there wasn't a whole lot to pick from since I don't eat seafood. I went with the $62 filet mignon. I was blown away. It was excellent. I was extra worried because I really like Bourbon Steak which is a quick walk away at Disney's Dolphin Hotel. I didn't try any cocktails here. The steak was on par with Le Cellier or Bourbon Steak. I truly wanted to give Flying Fish high ratings, but can't in good conscience. The evening started strong. The atmosphere is refined and inviting, and our appetizers and initial dishes came out promptly. Everything felt promising. The issues began when we waited what felt like 45 minutes for our main entrées. By then, all of our earlier dishes were finished, and we were simply sitting there waiting. We understand that restaurants get busy, so we didn't make a fuss. When the entrées finally started coming out, only half the table was served. Our server mentioned something about ensuring we had finished our previous dishes before bringing out the mains, which was framed as the reason for the delay. Unfortunately, it felt more like an excuse than an explanation. Then we realized one dish was missing entirely. The server asked our friend to repeat his order and claimed he had misheard and had put in the wrong order. Our friend even offered to take whatever the kitchen already had in progress to avoid further delay, trying to be flexible and understanding. Still, it took another 15 to 20 minutes for his meal to arrive. Given the timeline, it strongly felt like the order hadn't been submitted at all and was only fired once the mistake was realized. For a premium-priced restaurant, the experience felt disorganized and full of avoidable missteps. We would have appreciated straightforward honesty. As for the food: my steak had good flavor but was tough to cut and chew. The lobster bisque was noticeably bitter. The standout for me was the scallops I ordered on the side. They were the best part of the meal. The only reason this is a two-star review instead of one is because they ultimately comped my friend's entrée after it took about an hour to arrive. Mike had the NY Strip med rare and it was almost rare in places. We both really enjoy the Potato Gratin but we may request it without sea salt next time. I ordered the red snapper and the kids meals probably had one of the best fruit plates we had. In terms of fruit plate, I was only impressed with this place and Topolino's for the type and quality of fruit that was offered. The water here was fresh and the ambiance of the room was spacious and beautifully themed. I liked the fish art hanging from the ceiling. I don't know if there are as many other options for dishes though that I'd like to try here. I liked the lobster bisque and the red snapper, though I'm not sure I would want to order it again. Flying Fish is such a fantastic spot at Disney World! The interior is gorgeous... a little bit more elegant than I realized prior to visiting (to my pleasant surprise). It is not very large but always seems pretty busy. The food is incredible. One thing about me is I'm always going to order a pork belly appetizer... the pork belly was so delicious and did not let me down. The steak was perfectly cooked, and a chocolate dessert (can't remember the name) was the sweet treat that I needed at the end of a great meal. Everything was so not only delicious, but beautiful presented, which for me is always a plus. Service was friendly, attentive, and really made the meal feel seamless. Including our transition from the AbracaBar where we were waiting for our table. I have full reviews of each dish and details in the description of each picture (and its dark in there so getting good pictures proved difficult lol). We had an ADR and were seated right on time. Overall the atmosphere is beautiful and it's a nice place for a quiet dinner. The service was on point as well. It was the food that got mixed reviews. Some items were amazing and others were a big let down, lacking seasoning and being under or overcooked. The NY strip was really good, but the $18 add on shrimp was ridiculous. The shrimp had no seasoning and were overcooked. It lacked butter, salt, acid...literally anything that would have made the overcooked shrimp more palatable. The lobster bisque also would have benefited from some cream or salt. The dessert was one of the best I've ever had. Was the meal worth $201, definitely not, but it was "good enough" that we would go back to give it another try. read more

We got the artisan cheese to start and it came with a physical, handheld card to explain each cheese which was very helpful. for entrees we got the red snapper wrapped with potato and the frutti di mare. Both were excellent. I was worried that the frutti di mare was going to be too small but it was a perfect portion that left room for dessert. we got the lemon mousse and the strawberry cake and they were both excellent. Our waiter was AMAZING. we had an allergy at the table and the chef came out and discussed it with us. It's probably common at disney restaurants, but the empathetic and knowledgeable chef was truly the cherry on top. Food was not necessarily quick to come out but our table had fun. Went for the first time to Disney World Orlando's Flying Fish on the Epcot's Boardwalk area. This seafood focused restaurant originally opened as the Flying Fish Cafe. The original theme, designed by architect Martin Dorf, was a whimsical homage to the "Golden Age" of Coney Island and Atlantic City in the 1920s.The name was inspired by the Flying Turns, a classic 1920s Coney Island roller coaster; one of its ride cars was famously named the "Flying Fish." However, in 2016 this restaurant underwent a massive six-month renovation. It dropped "Cafe" from its name and abandoned the carnival aesthetic for a "chic seaside luxury" look. The current design creates an "under-the-sea" illusion, where the centerpiece is a stunning room-length chandelier featuring hundreds of sculpted glass fish and bubbles suspended from a deep blue enameled ceiling, mimicking a school of fish swimming toward the light. We went to the Flying Fish to celebrate my niece's birthday, so we had a reservation and were promptly seated in a family table, long and oblong. The service was attentive and friendly. We ordered both seafood and steak dished as both were on the menu, as well as cheese plate appetizers. The portions ranged from small (the cheese plates) to big (steaks). All were composed plates, although additions could be made like lobster tails or ibérico ham. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes except one that arrived cold, but was promptly taken, refired and presented at the right temperature. We booked a reservation a month before. Their website says it's a signature dining restaurant but they weren't strict on dress code. Upon entering, it looked like a fancier location with their staff all dressed up too. The staff were polite and friendly and our server, Chelsea, was great. She was nice and happy to help us with dish recommendations. Our family loves seafood and I was excited when looking over their menu. We ordered their mussels appetizer, which had a yummy sauce to dip bread in and my daughter really loved. I tried their favorite Potato-crusted red snapper while my husband ordered their lobster bisque and scallops dish. Our daughter enjoyed the red snapper kid's meal and to finish off our meal we tried three of their desserts: the lemon mousse, strawberry and cream, and hazelnut dishes. This place has quite the unique menu! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, and it was really nice. It's located right on a pier! It's a very cute ambiance! I got the potato wrapped snapper (since it's the most popular item on the menu according to our server). I liked it; however, I needed another sauce to go along with it. I didn't love the sauce it was in. It was a bit bland for me. After he brought me an aioli, I liked it a lot more. My boyfriend got the vegetarian dish and he really liked it. So much potential. This is an expensive restaurant right on the boardwalk at The Boardwalk Disney Resort. We had an early reservation and arrived with the place empty but still had to wait to get a text for our table to be ready. Seating was slow. Service was slow. Kitchen was slow. We got our entrees an hour after sitting down. Gazpacho was excellent but very small serving. Squash salad was good. Tons of shellfish on the menu. Sea Bass was excellent but very rich in the butter sauce. Not a lite dish. Entrees come with very little sides. There are no sides listed. So you have to look at the menu and "find" greens to ask for as a side. The waiters were accommodating but odd you have to ask for vegetable or mushrooms as they are not listed. So, be sure to ask for side choices. I think this has a pretty limited menu for Disney. Fine dining with kids crying after a long day in the parks (Disney). read more

Next, the service here was quite good. Our server was attentive, polite, and gave recommendations for our meals. I ordered the Pork Belly for the appetizer and Chilean Sea Bass for my main course. The pork belly appetizer was fine. It had good flavor but it did not blow me away. It was just simply fine. As for the Bass. The portion was very small as well. For the most part, I liked most of the flavors on the plate. There was some sort of decoration that appeared like a flower that had Sea Bass stuffed into it with some sort of sauce. I wasn't really a fan of the flavors combined there. I was with other family members who ordered the Potato wrapped Snapper and the Scallops. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their fish as well. My biggest complaint is the prices. $400 for a meal for four is wild and the food was simply okay, but nothing mind-blowing. Came for dinner here after a day at Epcot. Highly recommend a reservation, we had to wait an hour to be seated. This seemed to be the standard though for most places, we checked several places before deciding to eat here. Restaurant had beautiful decor and the staff when seated was constantly checking to see if we were happy or had questions. Menu is quite small in my opinion and I found it a bit odd that there were no salad options. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and added scallops. The shrimp were cooked perfect and tasty. We had one perfectly cooked scallops and two that were under. We aren't normally people who comment on food but for the add on price of over $20 for three scallops we sent them back. For entrees we had the strip (which I somehow missed taking a photo) and the potato wrapped red snapper. The food came quickly and we were happy with the flavor/cook of both. It has taken a few days to sort out my feelings about dining here. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service by Omar was excellent. The drinks were just ok the manhattan was excellent, Collins was ok, pomegranate margarita was bad. Bread service was a highlight, the bread contains potatoes and then combined with the salted butter made for a surprisingly good course. The appetizers were good the shrimp cocktail and the pork belly were the standout items however the bisque was lacking on all points. The highly recommended entrees were less than stellar ,the potato wrapped snapper lacked flavor and the crusted sirloin was "crusted" by a topping rather than a proper char due to a charcoal or wood cooking. The sea bass ended up being the best entree we tried. The cheesecake was a good desert choice and finished the meal on a good note. Hard to totally recommend this restaurant at such a high price point but ok to try for a special occasion. read more

After an exhilarating day at Hollywood Studios, we topped off our day at the Flying Fish (on a recommendation from a great friend). We were certainly ready for a table service meal, but we could not have imagined the experience we were about to have. This was easily a top three in WDW for us, and will certainly be on the list for any future trips. Appetizers: We shared the lobster bisque, and it was thoughtfully served in two individual, cute bowls. Perfect presentation and portioning for a couple. Rich, creamy, and flavorful, a great start to the evening. Entrées: Absolutely amazing. Every dish delivered on both taste and presentation. We were so full we didn't think dessert was going to happen. Incredible flavor and quality, exactly what you hope for on a special night. Drinks: The espresso martini was excellent. Smooth, well-balanced, and exactly what I wanted after such a rich meal. We'd happily recommend it to anyone finishing off a nice seafood dinner. Would we go back? Without a doubt. My husband and I are on a very restricted diet so we each ordered the pan seared chicken for dinner and we loved it! The chicken was flavorful and it was a generous serving so we were both very full at the end. It came with chicken meatballs, cooked green onions that tasted sweet, and a romesco and vinegarette that we had to get on the side. The sourdough bread to start was also fresh and tasty. It was so good In fact we came back again during our trip because its been so difficult for us to find places to eat that have lean meats that aren't too oily, it was perfect and I'd highly recommend it. The inside was beautiful and romantic, and service both nights were attentive and friendly. I honestly wish I could have tried the filet because its probably delicious too. I haven't been here in a LONG time but it was always a favorite. They have updated the interior and the menu since my last visit and I think both are even better. It's beautiful inside. Service was excellent. And all of our food was perfect. We even went for an interesting shared dessert and we loved that too. I would highly recommend this spot- esp if you like seafood. For Disney, this is a particularly nice restaurant and it wasn't totally loud and overrun. Worth every penny! read more

We had an absolutely phenomenal dinner at Flying Fish on Disney's BoardWalk. It was easily one of the best meals we've had at Walt Disney World, and honestly one of the best dining experiences anywhere. We started at the bar, where two fantastic bartenders worked together to provide top-tier service. They were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. It felt like they truly enjoyed helping guests, and they made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. They walked us through the wine list and recommended a glass of Argyle Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley. It was vibrant and smooth, with bright cherry and raspberry flavors and just a touch of spice and earthiness. It had a fresh, balanced quality that made it a perfect way to start the evening. For dinner, we ordered the salmon and added asparagus and scallops to the dish. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a crisp, golden crust and a tender, buttery center. The asparagus was fresh and just the right texture, and the scallops were an absolute highlight, seared beautifully with a sweet, delicate flavor and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Every element on the plate worked together in harmony, and the flavors were rich without being heavy. To go with the meal, we switched to a glass of Château Batailley from Bordeaux. This was a showstopper. Deep and layered with notes of dark berries, cedar, and just a hint of tobacco, it had that classic Left Bank feel but with a smooth, modern polish. The tannins were structured but not overpowering, and the finish was long, clean, and elegant. It brought a really grounded richness to the table that played beautifully with the buttery salmon and the sweetness of the scallops. It felt luxurious without being too bold and was one of those wines that just gets better with every sip. Throughout the evening, the service was truly exceptional. Every cast member we encountered was warm, professional, and kind. The atmosphere felt elevated but still comfortable, and the team struck a perfect balance between attentiveness and relaxed hospitality. The two bartenders who took care of us were a standout -- they were fun, knowledgeable, and always seemed to be there at just the right moment. If you're looking for a special dinner at Disney that combines great food, excellent wine, and outstanding service, Flying Fish is it. We'll absolutely be back. Five stars all the way. read more
