Mixed thoughts. My first issue is that I probably should have not gone in at 10pm. I had ordered online and paid. When I got in... to my dismay..... shake machine was not working. Bummer. Finally visited this restaurant! The food portions were large. I only ordered a spicy crispy chicken sandwich and I was stuffed! Also got a kids meal - Mac and cheese and fries and a burger with fries. My son was stuffed from the Mac and cheese and couldn't eat his fries. I was near Del Amo Mall and craving a burger when I noticed The Melt in the mall. A coworker had recommended it before, so I decided to give it a try. My boyfriend and I each ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. He got a side of regular fries, and I went with the sweet potato fries. The burgers were tasty and served on brioche buns. The bacon could have been crispier, and I wish they had added more fried onions, but overall the burgers were enjoyable. The sweet potato fries were delicious at first, crispy with a slight sweetness, but after a while they started tasting overly salty. I think they may have been over seasoned. I tried some of the regular fries as well, and they were pretty salty too. The fountain drinks were also a little disappointing. I got a Diet Cola, and it took quite a while to fill my cup because the machine was producing so much foam from the carbonation. My biggest issue was the price. This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. Customers can order through the app or use the kiosk in the restaurant. When I tried to place my order at the kiosk, the cashier told me to order directly with her because it would be faster. So I trusted her and placed my order with the cashier. However, when our food arrived, I realized that the cashier had not mentioned any of the available burger customization options. I later found out that I could have added lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, and onions. If I had ordered through the kiosk myself, I would have been able to select all of these options. Instead, my husband and I ended up eating burgers with only meat and cheese. The experience became even more unpleasant when I was paying. The cashier was very obvious about expecting a tip. When I chose not to leave one, his facial expression changed immediately, and he didn't even say thank you when he give me the receipt. I believe tipping should be a customer's choice and should reflect the service they receive. In this case, I was particularly disappointed because I followed the cashier's suggestion to order with him, yet he didn't provide the information I needed to customize my order. We were lucky enough to enjoy them on their training day, I tried both the spicy mission burger (8/10) and swiss n shroom (8.5/10.) Even as singles, the portion of each burger was pretty good. We also had garlic parmesan fries (8.2/10) and cheddar bacon ranch fries (8.4/10.) Very generously sized and lots of flavor. I had to get a chocolate shake and it's dangerously good (9/10.) Consistency isn't too thick where you're struggling to drink it (in and out) and very chocolatey. For burgers and fries though it can be kind of expensive, it was $50 for 2 burgers 2 fries 2 shakes, but the economy is Just like that now I guess!
