Athenian Salad with gyro meat
Chassity B.

This is my all time favorite place around Indy for Greek food. The service has always been great, the owner is very nice, and the food is always good and fresh. I usually opt for the Athenian salad and add gyro meat or do the gyro plate dinner that comes with Greek potatoes and the Greek green beans (soaked in a tomato/onion concoction.... SO good). Start with saganaki also (a flaming cheese) that is served with pita bread. You won't regret it. The inside is spacious with plenty of parking behind the building. The inside is very Mediterranean blue to fit the Greek theme. There's also a patio to enjoy if you'd like to also. Overall I highly recommend!! Delicious.

Our foodie group came to The Med for some Greek/Mediterranean food one Sunday, and we were very impressed with the restaurant. This Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of Irvington provided a wonderful ambiance and excellent customer service to our foodie group. Located right next to Jockamo's Pizza, The Med is a wonderful location and has a very nice enclosed outdoor patio. We were very impressed with the food, especially the lemon broth soup we each had with our meal. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the Greek name of the soup, but it was wonderful and would definitely recommend getting this soup with your meal. I ordered the falafel sandwich with fries for lunch, and it was extremely fresh and delicious. The falafel sandwich tasted amazing and had the right amount of spices. The fries were prepared perfectly with the right texture. I did get a tiramisu to go for dessert. The tiramisu tasted incredible and had the perfect texture and flavors. The Med is a great neighborhood Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in Irvington that you can call home and visit on a regular basis. The staff are wonderful and the manager is very friendly and welcoming to the customers. I can see myself coming back to The Med the next time I am in Irvington to enjoy some excellent Greek/Mediterranean food because it is just that good and I feel like I am right at home. A great place to eat and wonderful customer service is what makes The Med very special. Come check it out!

Pastitsio
Christina S.

I can't speak for all the other food but the pastitsio was absolutely horrible..looked like it was made last week and was room temperature when it came to the table as were the two sides it came with. I was one of 4 people in the entire restaurant so I don't really understand why the food was cold. It was also bland and just tasted like plain noodles with chunks of meat, felt like it was missing something. Took one bite and couldn't eat anymore. I didn't complain because I decided it was easier to just pay for the food and leave. ETA: I just read a review from a year ago saying the exact same thing about the pastitsio! Sounds like whoever is in charge doesn't care to change things or "learn from the customers" as they so claim in their response.

I had the lasagna meal which came with toast points and everything was very delicious. Service was great and wait time wasn't too long at all.

This is a difficult one. The food was excellent! I had the pesto ravioli: house made ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese topped with homemade pesto sauce and fresh tomatoes They offered a complimentary soup and i ĥad Avgolemono: a creamy chicken broth rice with egg and lemon. Both were delicious! The Key lime pie was good, I wasn't a fan of the whip cream on it. They don't take Venmo or cash app but do accept apple pay. The decor was nice. Lots of blues and circles. (Found out they represent some mythology story about Horace and the evilness to ward of evil spirits... ) The pictures on the wall were nice and some are for sale by a local artist Parking may be a challenge. Only a few spots out front and parking in the back however there are serial business in the strip so parking is limited. Lastly, after I ordered my food and reading through the Yelp information I saw the may Healthcare violations, the most recent one being Nov 2024 that was still unresolved?! Many were hand washing violations. That's really sad to have really good food, a decent looking place and poor hygiene.

We hadn't been on for a while, better than ever! The Avgolemono soup was perfect in texture and taste. The moussaka stayed together, the flavors were excellent and blended well. I need to try other dishes but it's so good! Didn't think to get a picture until I packed up the leftovers.

Saganaki and Cold Spread Sampler

We came here on a weekend night, we made reservations but it wasn't too busy so I don't think we would need to in the future. The decor was cute and the service was friendly but a little on the slow side which was fine. We ordered smaller items on the menu to try a few things and everything we had was delicious and the portions were big enough that we had leftovers. I'd like to go back and try more of the mains but definitely worth a visit especially if you're in the area.

Eggplant Roll

The appetizers are great here. The Saganaki and cold dip trio (Tzatziki, Hummus, Spicy Feta) were our favorites. The pita bread was served warm and were a great pairing with the apps. The eggplant roll with a side of Greek potatoes was the perfect pairing for an entree-like dinner. The tiramisu had a good coffee flavor and it was a generous slice, but had a very strong liquor flavor. The interior space is nice. The have an outdoor patio too with fans and shades for a cooler environment. It was a nice option for a summer evening. The employees were friendly and attentive.

From the time we were seated until we opened the door to leave, this place was amazing! Definitely a Mediterranean feel. The service was polished, professional and friendly. The food was hot and appetizing. We stumbled upon this place by accident, but I'm glad we did. We've been looking for a Mediterranean restaurant since ours closed after Covid. Keep up the excellent work guys. Will be back!

For other first-time…read morevisitors, I recommend letting the coffee sit for about 30 seconds before taking a sip so the fine grounds can settle to the bottom. Also, don't stir it after it's served, as that will bring the grounds back up into the coffee. Be sure to leave the last sip or two in the cup, since that's where the grounds collect. The coffee itself was excellent, but I would recommend that servers explain these details to first-time customers or at least ask whether they've had Turkish coffee before. A little guidance would make the experience even better for newcomers. We also ordered the hummus as an appetizer, and it was fantastic. The naan was served warm, and the hummus tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. It was the perfect way to start the meal. We also ordered The Bosphorus Special, a mixed grill platter featuring doner, kofte, chicken kebab, beef kebab, Adana kebab, and chicken Adana kebab, served with vegetables and white rice. Everything was absolutely delicious. The meats were cooked perfectly, tender, and packed with flavor. I'm so glad my significant other and I decided to share this entrée because the portion was very generous, and we still had plenty of leftovers to take home. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, it did not negatively impact our overall experience. After our food was served, our waitress did not check back to see how everything was or whether we needed anything additional. We also ended up with quite a few leftovers and requested to-go containers. Initially, only one small container was brought to the table, which required two additional follow-ups before we received enough containers for the remaining food. One suggestion I would offer is that, for tables ordering larger meals, it may be helpful for servers to proactively offer to box up leftovers as dishes are cleared. For just two people, our table became overcrowded rather quickly, especially with the generous portions. Since our waitress did not return after the food was served, it made managing the table and leftovers a little challenging. That said, we had a wonderful first experience overall. The food was outstanding, the portions were generous, and we look forward to coming back again in the future.

Both were delicious and well portioned. The guvec (veggie casserole) had eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, carrots, and other veggies plus rice and a small salad. Good thing we made reservations, which we will do again when we return.

I called ahead and ordered: 2 kebab sandwiches 2 falafel sandwiches 2 kibbeh orders baba ghanoush fattoush salad The employee on the phone told me the order would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived, I was told it would actually be another 17 minutes. I waited in my car, came back after that time passed, and then was told "maybe 13 more minutes." The biggest issue was not just the wait -- it was the lack of honesty and time management. If the restaurant had simply said from the beginning that they were behind and needed closer to an hour, I would have understood. What frustrates customers is being repeatedly given inaccurate wait times. People plan their schedules, families, and evenings around the times restaurants provide. After waiting inside, sitting directly in front of the counter, I watched the cook START preparing parts of my order almost an hour after I originally placed it. Items like the baba ghanoush, salad, and kibbeh -- foods that are usually already prepared -- were only assembled then. Meanwhile, customers who arrived after me and ordered at the restaurant were served before my takeout order was completed. Unfortunately, the food quality also suffered from the long delay: The sandwiches were soggy The salad had water pooled at the bottom and no dressing The kibbeh was soaked in grease For the amount paid, I expected much better service, communication, and food quality. A simple apology and realistic timing would have made a huge difference.

We're always looking for good Greek food in Indianapolis and noticed this spot while eating…read moresomewhere nearby, so we decided to make a trip back downtown for it at a later time. Located in a cute blue house, this is conveniently located near Lucas Oil Stadium and there was a huge concert going on the night we were there, but we were still allowed to park in their parking area. Inside has nice lighting and is pretty plain but has a homey feel. The menu contains many items we're familiar with having visited Greece twice. So I'm going to be a little critical here with my review of the food. I ordered the Greek Spaghetti, which I have had in Greece. Unfortunately this was not at all what I was expecting or anything like Greek spaghetti. What I was served was basically Prego spaghetti sauce with pieces of gyro in it. Traditional Greek spaghetti (or Makaronia me Kima) is a wonderful sauce that's seasoned with all kinds of memorable spices. It's definitely not pieces of gyro meat thrown in a sauce. So while this was fine, it was not what I truly wanted or thought I was getting so I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the chicken souvlaki and that was better but still not quite like what I remember. The meat was almost smoked and lacked some of the Greek spices that gives it a distinct taste. And the tzatziki...well, let's just say it tastes like whipped feta and was lacking in flavor too. I did enjoy the pita bread. Our service was underwhelming as well. It took a while for anyone to notice we were there and needed to be seated and the server basically did the bare minimum, never even asking if we wanted our water refilled. Overall, it was fine. If I had never been to Greece, I may have a different opinion but this isn't someplace I really want to go back to.
