I would rather mosey down to Copley Mall, pick out my favorite shoes from the newly expanded racks in this newly expanded shop and be done with the errand. But the consistently disaffected service I receive at this shop keeps me at bay. I have strolled through the shop (both the former, smaller one on floor 2) and the new one more than a dozen times. Rarely have I received a kind greeting, and asking for a size is usually as much fun as a visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles. I am not a high-maintenance customer, I usually know what I want before I come in and I am always very patient when there are other customers in line. I do like to be acknowledged, though, and probably tend to spend more $$ when I am!

Nobody helps, only a woman hiding in the back of the reception staring at ours with her eyes rolling and mouth pouted. You think I am too sensitive? Not at all. I picked some dresses and wanted to try it on. So as the regular process, she should take my clothes and make me in the line waiting for the fitting room - it may not be the responsibility but she did that to everyone in the store at that period. I waited, and I talked to her - she heard that, but did not give us any response. She let another girl, who come later than me, use the fitting room. I found that, and I questioned - silence and no response again. She then took the clothes I picked - after I noticed her many times. When it is my turn, I asked her to pass me the clothes. She rolled her eyes and did not give me any response. I waited there for a long time again. While everyone has a basic "welcome" and "bye-bye," we don't receive any polite greeting. I am sad cuz I love Boston, I lived here for a long time, and as an Asian I never met any racism in Boston. I believe that Boston is a great city to live at and the thing happened today really upset me. While beacon hill is one of my favorite place to shop at Boston, I never imagine this kind of thing will happen to me one day.

She hand selects her brands and products, and she seems to have used them all herself, so she can answer all your questions and help you find exactly what you need. Laura also carries a lot of less-common, more-high-end brands that you cannot find elsewhere. I came here for Oofa recovery shoes to nurse my poor plantar fasciitis, as none of the running-shoe stores within a 30-minute drive had my size. But GettiGear was listed as a retailer in the Oofa website, so I decided to check it out. So glad I did. First of all, she had my size in both the clogs and the slides. Secondly, the clogs were in sale. Third, she had both styles of the slides, which the other shoe stores did not. She also had the newest shoe-style Oofas-- and she was wearing them! I love that she test drives all her products for us! But then I noticed all the bright, well-made, beautiful running pants, the yoga pants, the high-quality running tops, the great yoga mats... And the sports bras! She carries my favorite brand, Sport Skirts (yes, they also make bras) -- AND she had them on sale!!! See, now, usually you have to order Sport Skirt products on line, as they only have a few brick-n-mortar stores around the country. I'm so glad I found a retailer where I can try on different Skirt Sport styles (I can already attest to their quality and fit. But of course I can, or Laura wouldn't be selling them In her store!) So I walked away with two pairs of Oofas and a sports bra (because really, you can't have too many). And it was all I could do to resist the fantastic running pants that were also on sale. I'll be back, and I'll be bringing my sisters and running buddies, too. I don't live in Wellesley, but whenever I need more running gear (and I almost always need more running gear), I'll wait until I can get back to Wellesley to buy it at GettiGear.
