I had a poorly configured home network with lots of connected devices, several computers, and network attached storage. A couple of computers had stopped talking to each other and passwords were messed up. I couldn't get the answers or solutions I needed from websites. I was frustrated. I had never used a consultant but Yelp directed me to Nestech Computers. I worked with Shawn of Nestech for an hour and a half. He remoted in to both my computers at the same time to see, test, diagnose, and adjust settings to success. He was knowledgeable and thorough in addressing my problems. He also cared about my whole network to add some extra network adjustments to improve its operation. I would use Nestech again. They left me with network nirvana, devices that all work together nicely.

I called after several weeks and he promised he'd have the problem diagnosed within the next couple days and call me back. Several additional weeks went by and I called again with the same response, and then once more a few weeks later- a total of 2 months of wait time without any progress or evidence that anything was done at all. I eventually gave up and got my laptop back myself to look at. Googling my error messages indicated that my RAM was faulty, and after replacing the RAM (a 15-minute procedure), my laptop works fine. It took me ~30 minutes of total active time to troubleshoot and solve this problem that I had previously waited 2 months for the owner to fix. I'd guess that Alex was overcommitted with fixing other machines to focus on mine, which is fine if he told me a realistic estimate (i.e. "I'm really busy right now, but check back in a month and I'll give you an update). Instead I got drip-fed inaccurate timeline estimates. Overall, I find it difficult to reccomend going to this business to get your problem fixed unless you have a really easy software issue to diagnose/fix on the spot.

Plus u have to get up , go to best buy, and wait in line. Called these folks up after seeing all the positive reviews and they didnt disappoint. Later the same day, Billy came over to take a look at it. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He ran a diagnostic at my place and my harddrive was fried. So he took my laptop and external hd to try to get the data from it. Unfortunately, it was fried pretty badly, but they work with another company that specializes in data recovery. I had my important data backed up already, so i decided to get a new computer all together bc i compromised on the original one that fried out. Figured i would just get the one i really wanted. They recycled the old computer and returned my external hd the same day i made the decision. Throughout the process, i was completely informed of their progress via email. If i wanted to replace my hd and recover windows, i wouldve gladly given them my business. I ended up paying only for the diagnosis I would wholeheartedly recommend these folks to anyone with computer issues, both to diagnose and fix

BEWARE!!!!!! For…read moreanything but the most basic of compter repairs, I would steer clear of Northside Tech Support. I took my laptop to Northside because my laptop screen was flickering from time to time. Usually, I repair my computers myself but have been very busy with work and thought I would take it to "the professoinals" at Northside Tech Support so they could quickly make the necessary repairs and I could get back to work. Besides the flickering screen, my laptop had no other issues, was physically and mechanically in great shape and functioned near perfectly. Three weeks and a few days after I had dropped off my computer at Northside and many phone call later, I was told that a component of my computer "crumbled" as they took it apart and that I would be needing additional parts. This was cause for great concern but based on the reviews here on Yelp.com I had seen, I figured they guys must know what they are doing. Despite my growing concern, I decided I would continue to give them the chance to fix my computer. A week or so later, I received another phone call from them where they told me that they had to order some additional parts because their eBay parts supplier and they could not figure out which parts were the correct ones to fit my computer. eBay parts seller?? When asked, Northside told me they get all of their parts for their repairs from eBay, yikes!! Another week or ten days later, I called to inquire about the status of my repair. They told me they still had not figured it out. I asked that they put my machine back together and informed them that I would be picking it up and taking it to another repair facility. Kevin was very upset by this and told me that he "needed more time." I informed him that if he could not repair my computer in the just over four weeks he had it, he needed to give it back to me so I could have someone who knows what they are doing make the repairs. He exclaimed "you have not given me enough time!!" I could go on but after having tried to fix my computer for over a month, when I went to pick it up, my computer looked as if it had been dropped from a second story window. The outer case was cracked off and a "new" case with dents in it was my "new" cover (used part obtained form eBay), a key was broken off my keyboard and the keyboard itselft was no longer set into the computer, the computer would no longer turn on at all, and parts were and screws were missing. I had to look it over for a few minutes to try to ensure that it was even mine. I dropped of a good working computer with a flickering screen problem. Over four weeks later, I picked up a broken computer with missing parts that would no longer turn on or operate at all. I ended up having to purchase a new computer thanks to the fine handiwork of the "computer repair technicians" at Northside. They offered to pay me a nominal sum for the damage to my computer but what they gave me barely made a dent into what I had to spend for a new laptop. Like I said, if you need any type of computer repair besides the most basic of basic repair, steer far wide and exceedingly clear of this place as in my opinion and experience, they clearly do not know what they are doing.

I was prepared to face expensive repairs or even buy a new laptop. I brought it in and they ascertained that the problem was the charger, and that the computer was in fine shape, and they located the right replacement and charged me only $25! Now, the charger l had been using was not the original one. I had bought it at Best Buy, after doing research online and making certain that it was the right one. Turns out it was not only not the right shape, it was too many volts. Moral: if you're having charger troubles, take your device in to a neighborhood repair shop like this one. Don't go to a big box store, don't shop online, don't act like you know what you're doing unless you KNOW you know what you're doing. The guys at Broadway Computers spent over half an hour looking for exactly the right charger, and they didn't even charge for labor. I think l actually spent less at Broadway Computers than I did at Best Buy, and for MUCH better service. If you live in Edgewater/Roger's Edge, you should check this place out!
