I had 'lunchbox special breakfast' and my friend has the 'corned beef hash' (see photos for sides). The food was really good! The ambiance is better than most breakfast places, if you enjoy watching the street and sitting outside, there's no better spot than this. This is our favorite breakfast place in Tallahassee. The name inspires the quirky decor of kids' metal lunchboxes hanging from the ceiling and climbing the walls. I've yet to spot the Six Million Dollar Man box I carried in fourth grade but it's probably there somewhere. So far we've ordered the traditional breakfast, egg sandwiches and pancakes on visits. Bacon is perfectly crisp, eggs cooked to order and flavorful coffee from the local chain Lucky Goat kept topped up by attentive wait staff. It's a small diner on the corner of two busy roads -- East Tennessee Street and Magnolia Drive -- with a limited number of parking spaces, so we try to get there early. I have been enjoying this establishment since it opened in 1999. This is your hometown, super comfortable place to get a bite. The prices are so great. The food is even better. Today, I ordered the short stack regular, short stack with chocolate chips, two egg breakfasts with Hash browns and toast, and the special with two eggs, bacon, hash Browns, and toast. The server was really friendly and loved the conversations going with all her regulars. The diner is an old gas station and the owner has decorated it with old school lunchboxes. From the outside, it looks tiny. Once inside it really opens up. The cute breakfast mural in the back is fun for pictures with friends and family. Now back to the food, as expected it came out fast, hot and like ordered. The food was tasty and brings memories of family breakfasts. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. I've been a customer for years. However, after yesterdays visit, no more. It used to be a great place for breakfast or lunch. Over the past couple of years, the quality of food and service has diminished tremendously. Yesterday it took right at N hour to get our food, and once it arrived, it was so disappointing. My wife ordered a bacon/cheese omelette. Which has two slices a bacon and a half a slice of cheese folded into the eggs, cheese wasn't even melted. That's half true, nothing really fell out, but the salsa had some extra juice that dripped out. Overall it was delicious, filling & well worth the price. I was satisfied with just 1/2 the wrap and the side of home fries, but I was stuffed after finishing the other half! Tallahassee: FL: This is a perfectly adequate place. The setup is small, there is a nice mural in the restaurant, and awesome lunchboxes of every style hung up around the place. It's clean and on a Saturday morning, quite busy. The parking lot can get congested so it may be best to figure out when to come when it's not too busy. Food is CHEAP - only $3.00 for one egg, two slices of toast, and choice of a side. The kid's meal was the same price for the same size. All drinks are a simple $2.00 across the border. I enjoyed my meal though my eggs needed a pinch of salt. My home fries were delicious and I appreciated having two large slices of bread. It was not, however, a particularly amazing meal - each element was one I could easily replicate at home. Furthermore, service could be worked on. Our table only got one of the two glasses of milk we ordered and our check was miscalculated. Everyone, however, was sweet which is always appreciated. Ultimately, I'm glad I came here though I'm quite sure I won't be back unless I'm really craving some cheap breakfast food. Like many have written about Jenny's, it's a Tallahassee institution. I believe it was the first breakfast joint I visited when I moved here many years ago. It possesses the single greatest diner vibe Tallahassee has to offer. To me, that's almost worth everything. As far as the food goes, I'm sticking with A-OK. I can't say I've ever been swept off my feet with a meal here. Nevertheless, it's always a solid thumbs up.
