Let me just start by saying.... The service and staff were fantastic. But the food not so much, My husband and I ordered the tri-fecta.... My husband's waffle had a slight bleach taste to it, and both of our scrambled eggs were completely overcooked and bland. The chicken sausage was very bland and disappointing as well. We were greeted in a timely manner. The food was great, however that's the only enjoyable part about the meal. The service was mediocre at best. Our server didn't introduce herself , she's a white older lady. Not once did we get refills and we sat with empty drinks more than half of our meals. My husband got french toast which tasted good but she brought syrup after he was almost done. We asked for biscuits after we had ordered (maybe 2 minutes after) and didn't receive them until we were almost done because we asked how much longer they'd be. The service was very nice. When we sat down we got two cups. Both were dirty, one had white pieces along the cup, the other had a melted chocolate finger print smeared on the cup. Our waitress brought us fresh togo cups and apologized. I ordered the strawberry leches french toast, it had a very fishy taste. I ended up just ordering a side of toast and it came out untoasted and smeared in butter. I ended up just eating it because I didn't want to bother our waitress. Unfortunately the last few times we've been to the Tallahassee restaurant we were less than impressed. I do love the fresh squeezed OJ. The wife enjoys the green salad that is a side option. And we both love the thick artisan bread served with compote. Today's visit was the reason for this review. At first the mixed greens salad my wife was so looking forward to seemed wilted and old. She asked for some fresher greens and they obviously brought an entire plate from the same old bag of greens. We went there on Sunday (4 of us ) and signed up for the waitlist online , but doesn't do help or makes a difference--you still need to check in when you get there : We were told the wait would be 35 minutes, but after 45 minutes had passed, I checked in again and was told it would be another 25 minutes because they had large parties . I did saw tables for 4 empty for a while . So then I asked if I can seat outside , the hostess said right away "Of course, " If it was an option why not offer this when you check in . Went for breakfast today. 45 minute wait no problem. Checked in at the 40 minute mark, was told the "stopped seating" and that we were still way down the list. Had to ask several times what both these things meant, basically still a 45 minute wait. Still don't know what "stopped seating" means, like what??? Maybe can tell people via their silly little messaging app that their time has doubled. Plus the smarmy little guy with the Guy Fawkes facial hair at the front is horrible at customer service and is a little smartass. Bunch of clowns running this place. Finally got a first watch in Tallahassee! The restaurant is a spacious and has a great morning atmosphere. I ordered the chicken quinoa bowl and carnitas breakfast quesadillas both did not disappoint! For the chicken quinoa bowl, the pesto dressing gave a nice balance for the quinoa and the roasted tomatoes added to the flavor all finishing it up with heathy portions of kale, shedded carrots, and grilled chicken. The quesadilla was also delicious with the carnitas and egg in the quesadillas and jalapeño crema on top. For my drink I got the watermelon wake up! Tasted like I was sitting on the beach eating a fresh slice of watermelon yum! Val was my Waitress she was very sweet and always had a smile on her face. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. Food was good, with nice presentation and adequate portions. That being said, the biggest drawback would be price.. For three people, our bill was over 60.00 add tip and you're right at 80.00, for breakfast. I had an omelette, with potatoes, which came with one slice of toast and coffee, nothing extra. Same for the other two guest. I'm rambling about cost, I don't mind spending money, but... eggs? 15.00 for an omelette? The menu is limited. It was enjoyable, but not a place I'd frequent. We first encountered First Watch quite a few years ago in Orlando and enjoyed breakfast there. Many years later we now have one in Tallahassee and, once the new wore off, we have been a couple of times. Breakfast and drink post-pandemic is now about $15 per person at most of the places in town where we enjoy having breakfast (besides my money saving Denny's) and at First Watch you better be prepared for $20 per person. Interior is open and roomy with lots of booths or tables and chairs for seating. Service is friendly and attentive. Food has taken awhile to come out when we have gone there and it was not crowded. The lemon ricotta pancakes are the star of the menu. The other things we have tried have been fine but no wow. For us, if they didn't have the lemon ricotta pancakes then we would go elsewhere for breakfast and save a little money. I know we will be back for those pancakes once I get over the sticker shock of our latest meal and I will let you know if I find anything else that is wow on the menu. read more

Pro: our server was awesome, beyond awesome. Con: food came out cold, sent it back, it came out cold again. If you drop butter on a pancake, it should run, melt........if it doesn't, it is cold. It was not busy so that is not the reason. If two people are dining together, it is best to bring their food at the same time? (They did not, and still it was cold) The whole place was freezing! First Watch is a chain restaurant. While we usually prefer to patronize local independent restaurants, we are not opposed to trying a chain once in a while. On this particular Sunday morning we arrived about 8:30 am. There were a few groups seated outside enjoying their breakfast and that made us fearful that there were no tables available inside. We were wrong. There were plenty of tables available inside as well as a bar for single diners who might prefer that seating. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table. Be forewarned, if you get cold inside restaurants due to air conditioning, bring a fleece jacket. I forgot mine on this visit. The restaurant is spacious and open. You definitely do not feel like you're seated next to other diners who can listen to your every word. The server was also prompt pleasant and returned swiftly not only with water glasses but a bottle of water for our easy refilling. She also brought a carafe of coffee for my dining companion. We ordered the seasonal Salted Caramel Holey Donuts. My dining companion loved these! I thought they were a little too cakey for my liking. They made up for it with the glaze and toppings though! The plate came with a baker's dozen donut holes, plenty for sharing with a larger party. My companion also ordered the Million Dollar Bacon, which was delicious! The bacon was sweet, savory and crisp! I ordered the Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos, which included 3 wheat-corn tortillas with scrambled cage-free eggs, Cajun chicken, chorizo, Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Topped with fresh avocado and pico de gallo. Although the entree is served with seasoned black beans, I requested breakfast potatoes and they made the substitution without additional charge. I think the meal was served in less than 7 minutes. I was astonished at the speed of service and speed of food, though we were not made to feel rushed. I think the secret to getting a table swiftly is to arrive prior to 9 am. That's when the pace of diners started to pick up. I would gladly return to this location again. I always like to give updates as I try other food items on the menu. The star of this photo was the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and of course you can not go wrong with the House Potatoes (which were back in, lol). We were seated pretty fast but as I looked around I could tell they weren't as busy as usual so as I could assume the reviews has something to do with it. Our waiter seemed nice and had a sense of humor; however, I believe this is the part that's hurting the restaurant. You seat quickly yet the wait of service is long and for the amount one spends here they should be checking on their tables and refilling beverages when needed. One could have amazing food but if your staff lacks customer service it will fail. So back to the star of my day, the Pancakes. These babies were so good and rich that I couldn't even finish them. No, syrup needed even though I asked for some, lol. I was even more happy to see the Publix brand used as their sugar-free option. I would recommend that you try these and tell me what you think. I believe my next visit will be a pickup order. I hope that these issues be taken into consideration and fixed because I would hate for this to stop the flow of business or increase more unpleasant reviews. read more

Came to first watch on Veteran's day to celebrate the new bride and groom from a wedding we attended the night before. The restaurant staff was very accommodating as we were a party of 30. While we did have to wait a while due to our size and lack of punctuality, the staff remained professional and courteous. We sat as three separate parties but all in nearby areas and nobody minded. Our server, Elijah, was fabulous and so fun! He started a huge cheer for the newlywed couple and even comped their meals. The food was delicious and came out quickly even with our large party and a full diner besides us. The seasonal double crunch breakfast tacos were so yummy! The pancakes here are huge and phenomenal and they know what they are doing when they add in the perfect amount of chocolate chips. I tried the super fruit bowl and it was also very tasty but if you don't like chia seeds it could be a weird texture for you. Overall, very good experience and great time! read more

Overall a great breakfast experience. Need to arrive early to avoid a wait. Portions are generous and the coffee is good. One weird thing- apparently if you request extra condiments for your omelette, that comes from the kitchen. My extra sour cream arrived 20-25 minutes after our food hit the table (and I was finished eating). Server said she was waiting all that time for the kitchen to get it out. My only issue is the noise in our Tallahassee restaurant is so loud! I have taken numerous friends there - and they all have the same comment. This restaurant has a good number of tables inside and a pretty, covered area outside. There are so many items on the menu that one of the people I was with couldn't believe me when I told them to turn it over because there was a lot more on the other side. Very good for breakfast or lunch. Everything we tried was fantastic: lemon curd/ricotta pancakes, smoked salmon eggs Benedict, and a smoked salmon frittata. I would probably give it five stars but when we asked for syrup we got the corn syrup type. They do have maple syrup, but there's a an up-charge. I would've paid it had I known before we were finished eating :-) An extra plus: our server was terrific. That kind of service definitely makes you want to come back again. read more

Welcome to Tallahassee, First Watch! Open and airy restaurant, friendly staff, delicious food. A perfect combination! I went at 7:30 on day 3 of business and it wasn't crowded (although it was more crowded when I left). Was greeted warmly and seated promptly. I love how open and bright the restaurant is, especially all the windows. Server then came by, took my drink order and returned quickly with a pot of delicious coffee. Sadly, they only have non-dairy creamers on the table, but if you ask they will bring you a cute mini milk pitcher of milk. They have a wide variety of items on the menu, with some unique items and a number of healthy items. Today I wanted to try something traditional so I ordered a "The Works" omelette. They roast fresh crimini mushrooms everyday, and I was glad they were in this omelette in addition to ham, bacon, sausage, onion, tomato and cheese. It normally comes with dressed greens but I love breakfast potatoes so I asked for those. It also comes with a side of toast, butter and jam. They forgot my jam, but I forgot to ask for it as the buttered toast was delicious. The food came out quickly (brought by a runner and not the server) and looked great. They apologized that they needed to get more butter ready so the toast came out a little later. Omelette was delicious, especially the mushrooms, but the filling could have been a little warmer. The potatoes were very good but some were a tad salty for my taste. The toast was very good. Breakfast was excellent, especially for only being open 3 days. So happy to see a First Watch in Tallahassee! We went opening day and they lived up to their reputation. We both had the Bacado, bacon/avocado omelette, my husband added a side of bacon and asked for the avocado to be on the side so he could give it to me. Both dishes came out quickly with delicious salads lightly dressed and our omelettes were excellent. Mine was especially good since I got the extra avocado. English muffins are typically served toasty, mine was so warm and fluffy that toasty wasn't necessary, I especially enjoyed it. The atmosphere was full of beaming, happy, new employees. Everyone was happy to serve without being anxious. They rolled out opening day perfectly! The dining room is modern and fresh with a ton of windows that really add to the feeling of "morning" and next time we will try the outside tables. One small hiccup was charging for coffee I didn't order. That can happen any given day at any restaurant but I didn't like waiting for the cashier to find the server to verify that I had indeed not ordered the coffee. Personally I would have simply removed the charge and apologized since it was just coffee. I know they will work these kinks out as they move forward. It's a little pricey, a side order of bacon (4 strips) was $6 and a cup of coffee was nearly $4. The omelettes are already priced a couple of dollars higher than competitors so it added up quickly and then add tip too. A little pricey for breakfast but the meals are delicious and will I be back? Heck yeah! Just not quite as often as I would like ;-) HIGHLY recommend! read more

We walked in and were given a requested table. Our waitress Ghina was excellent. She was extremely attentive and took our order quickly. The food arrived at our table exactly as we wanted and everything was cooked perfect. Ghina checked back regularly but not too often to make sure we had everything we wanted. Since my last visit about a year ago, the service and food have improved substantially. We received multiple visits from waitress who was very accommodating and pleasant. It makes it feel like it's a local restaurant, although they're growing into a chain I believe. Their drink selections are interesting; it makes you want to try it all. Their menu is about the same.
