Met a friend here for brunch. Had eaten here a while back and enjoyed it, but just hadn't been back, mainly because it is on the other side of town from where I live. We had about a 20-minute wait time, but that was fine. We spent the time chatting as we waited. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, but due to the humidity, we chose to dine inside! LOL! My friend ordered quiche, with home fries. I had the Tin Pan Alley dish, along with cheese grits. Though I would have preferred my grits a bit creamier, they were still good. We enjoyed the meal - and the fellowship. The Bada Bean is not especially spacious inside, but the service is great and the food is tasty. Love the laid-back, down-home vibes. Will definitely try to come more often! Note, though I am not big on sweets, when I came a while back with my husband, he ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and absolutely loved them. I've enjoyed The Bada Bean's food in the past, but a recent experience just completely turned me off. I placed an order to go on a busy Saturday morning at the cafe. Stopped there because the name was unique and it had good ratings. It's a local and very casual restaurant that doesn't have a lot of seating inside. We got there around 9:00a which we were seated right away, but by the time we were ready to leave there was a wait. The food was delicious and you can serve your own coffee which they had different strengths catering to your taste. I love medium to dark roast, so try their special blend...yummy! The food was sooooo good. It tasted like it was homemade with love. The cinnamon roll was so yummy I can't stop thinking about it. The quiche was scrumptious and the fruit bowl that came with it was if each piece of fruit was handpicked to give me the best and sweetest fruit. I ate there once while in town for a meeting. I had crab cake eggs benedict and it was simply outstanding. The potatoes were also very good. The waitress was great. In principle, this was the best of ideas; in practice, not so much. When we had woken up, I had the desire to go out to brunch. We had talked about it briefly beforehand, but we hadn't made concrete plans. He had wanted to go somewhere else, but I countered with the fact we had already gone to the other place and I didn't recall them serving pancakes. I *really* wanted pancakes. As soon as I mentioned pancakes, well... I began Yelping, while at the same time having some places suggested to me. We kept shooting down each other's ideas until we finally agreed on The Bada Bean, which he hadn't bothered going to in years. He called and the wait supposedly didn't exist, so off we went and on a motorcycle at that as the morning was perfect for a drive. This is where the shoe begins to drop. We arrive and there is a wait. He was annoyed. I was whatever. It was what? 10 or 15 minutes? I'm from Miami where a wait can easily be two hours in the morning. I wasn't phased honestly. They had a waiting area, so we just sat and chatted. Eventually they sit us at the first available table, as neither of us cared where to sit, and the table is outside and the sun is glaring at us. We end up moving to the shady part of the table and go on from there. We were attended by a nice and friendly waitress. I believe her name was Ashley. My eyes immediately glance over the menu and I order a cappuccino. He had some apple juice that for whatever reason they kept forgetting to bring him until he mentioned it again. Service was a bit off at first, despite the pleasantries. I think it's because the poor waitress was attending so many tables. They should have had more people working. Given that this place was chosen due to pancakes, it may surprise you to know that I almost chose a skillet or omelette instead. It's just that the photos looked amazing, and well, I love eggs. I was talked out of this though given the fact that I am constantly eating eggs, haha. I am honestly happy I was. I went for a regular stack of pancakes and added blueberries. He opted for a tall stack of pancakes and added walnuts and chocolate chips. Now this is where things get interesting. They have three sizes for pancakes: short, regular, and tall. The short size consists of two pancakes, the regular size consists of three pancakes, and the tall size consists of four pancakes. We really wish we had known these pancakes were so massive. Neither of us could finish our plates and we both wished we had ordered smaller stacks. And of course, we had a busy day ahead of us on a motorcycle, so taking leftovers was a no-no. Boo. Those pancakes were fluffy, the type that felt like biting into marshmallows. The blueberries were fresh. The combination of butter and maple syrup poured over them worked wonders. They just killed the craving instantly. Or at least they did to me. Accompanying this with a cappuccino just made the morning lovely and made it seem as if I could do anything. My only regret really? On my recent trip to Tallahassee with the family, we had the pleasure of visiting The Banda Bean. I found this restaurant by looking for breakfast and brunch places near my location and this was the first restaurant that popped up on the Yelp list and we were not disappointed but instead, happily surprised of how good it all was. This restaurant is found in a plaza among a pawn shop and though not a big parking lot, we found a space right away thanks to the torrential rain going on at that time that kept most people home. The restaurant is aged a bit but nevertheless has its own charm and warm atmosphere. The food and the service boosted this charm. If you are looking for a great variety of breakfast which includes skillets, omelettes, and plenty of options to feed a group, look no further. They also make an outstanding Cappuccino which was hot and served in a very large coffee mug. The added vanilla syrup gave it enough sweetness while maintaining that strong coffee strength. This drink was very rich and flavorful. For my main course I opted for the country fried steak with scrambled eggs, cheese grits, and biscuits. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. The country fried steak was cooked to perfection, and the combination of scrambled eggs and cheese grits was a savory delight. The biscuits were fluffy and mixed with that country sausage gravy really complemented the entire dish. The service and the friendliness of the staff made our visit feel like a visit to some close family member's own home. The attentive staff made sure all our needs were met in a timely manner. Had a decent breakfast with my girls here over the weekend. We think they were short staffed, as are many establishments as they rebound from COVID. For the most part everyone enjoyed their meals. One person made their own omelet and enjoyed it. The other friend had I think was a stuffed croissant French toast. It may have been a special and it's typically stuffed with cream cheese but because of her allergies she had it made without it. She still devoured it. Now to my order the 911 CiniWich. It was ok. I asked for the cream cheese icing which cost an additional .50. Honestly, I think had they truly used their standard cinnamon roll, icing and all, the sandwich itself would be a whole lot less dry. It comes with a fried egg and sausage. No complaints on those fronts. And the cream cheese icing is suuuuper yummy. We also had to ask for napkins several times and a couple other things, but again we think they might have been a little short staffed right now, which would explain the lack of follow up. read more

I've honestly been trying to eat here for years. Each time I pull into the extremely small parking lot, I am discouraged to not only find a spot, but also a large line out front. Yesterday was our day. We are well past the breakfast hour, found a spot up front, and a table was open for us when we checked in. The planets were in alignment! They have an interesting way of dealing with COVID, shower curtains between each table. Hey, they're trying...more than most! Coffee mugs were delivered to our table, yet no instructions given. As we waiting for coffee service, I began to notice folks walking around with coffee mugs...something was up. Another server walked by and I asked where I could get our coffee. He apologized, explained that our server must have thought we'd been there before, and directed us to the corner of the restaurant with several pots of coffee. Quite a bit to choose from! I ordered the "Body Guard" and a side of corned beef hash. Man, we're they good! The wife ordered a Cuban sandwich and she really enjoyed it. Bada Bean is a staple of the Tallahassee foodie/brunch scene. It's a cute little restaurant with pleasant lighting, wall art made of coffee beans, a row of coffee urns (self serve, all you can drink), and about as much seating as you could hope for in such a small--some would say cramped--space. There's also some seating outside. The skillets are popular and filling, as are the various eggs bennie. My favorites are the Bada Breakfast (a sampler) and the 911 (a delicious, calorie-count-busting breakfast sandwich with a cinnamon roll for a bun). They also have great daily specials (check their Facebook), a display full of deserts, and they do catering. How are they doing, from a customer's perspective, during the pandemic? Hours: Their hours are what you'd expect from a brunch place: 7am-3pm, Tue-Sun. Menu: They are offering their usual menu. During the shutdown, they were also doing family to-go dinners from 3-5, but I think that's stopped. Ease of ordering: You call it in and then pick it up. Or you can order online (for pickup). Or you can order at the counter. They're also doing dine-in at this point. They're not on any delivery apps. Contactless service: Service is not contactless, and when I was in there today no one was wearing masks. Also, since it's such a small place, there is really no way to eat inside or even refill your coffee without being close to other people. If you want a sit down meal here, my advice is ask for an outside table. read more

Me and my friend arrived at 9.15 am in the morning, we didn't wait to order, but if you arrive later than 9.30ish you gotta be wait. That's why my first advice come here early for breakfast! We did not have a problem with the parking and there were enough spot to park your car. I ordered Bada Breakfast, I don't eat pork that's why I asked for the meat options and they offered me turkey, which was great! They did not write this option on the menu, but you can ask for it and order this breakfast with turkey option. I ordered latte but they served cappuccino, there was too much milk foam for a latte! However, it was not a problem. Overall, this place is 4.5/5. I had a good breakfast and will definitely visit again because they have a giant menu! I want to try other breakfasts as well. read more

I would heavily advise you eat a full meal before coming here. The food was fine and well portioned but took an insane amount of time to come out. I got here at 11:15 and did not see any food until 12:35. There are no reservations and the waiting area is very limited with seating. Our party got here ahead of us and had to wait from 10:45 to 11:30 just to be seated. Again, the food was great, but I would plan on a very long wait. Maybe watch a movie. read more

We pulled in to what is typically a packed parking lot, to find it completely empty. To my shock, they have new business hours posted on the door, CLOSED SUNDAY!?
