This is my favorite spot when I am in the mood for a salad, I get the Chicken Tetrazzini with no onions and extra green peppers every time and it makes my soul so happy! I get the "mini" for one serving but if I want to save some for later, I will get the "regular." I think their portion sizes are large. I love getting extra crackers with my salad. They also have great sandwich options as well as soups and freshly baked cakes. They have a loyalty program so make sure you sign in on the computer when you go. I usually get a to-go order and my food is ready in no time. The inside is always clean and there is plenty of seating should you choose to dine in. I wanted a salad and Hopkins was the first place I thought of. I got the Cobb salad with chicken salad instead of grilled chicken. The salad is huge, filling the container. Their house-made creamy Italian dressing is delicious! (And they sell it by the bottle) My one complaint is that the chicken salad was mediocre and dry. Food was decently priced and full of flavor. I built my own sandwich and just got roast beef and cheese on a poppy seed roll. Very casual atmosphere and the girl that took our order was pleasant. I live 69 miles from this restaurant. I come to Tallahassee from time to time. A few years ago I wanted something different and a friend of mine said I should try Hopkins deli. Let me tell you, if your hungry and want a clean great sandwich or wrap, with a clean seating that is quite with lite music in the background this is the place. I have come here probably 6 times a years for at least 4 years and I have never been disappointed. The tea with mint in it is refreshing And the brownies are awesome. Pecan is my favorite. My first impression of Hopkins Eatery was "Holy smokes, why is it so big?" And gentlemen, as much as we all love to humor this question, this time it doesn't appear to be all satisfactory. Hopkins could be two, potentially three sizable restaurants. Although space isn't all that important in the grand scheme of things, it simply came off rather awkward. With that said, the food was tasty. The Smothered Beef melted in my mouth. The fresh bread (could be homemade) was soft and airy. However, the sandwich as a whole was a bit too oily, in turn sogging each bite. The blueberry cheesecake for dessert was creamy, fruity and everything I had hoped for. I enjoy simple, fresh ingredients, but the menu seemed to consist of primarily all of the same items. Sprouts, veggies, turkey, cheese and so on. Really good sandwiches on fresh bread. We stopped here for a quick dinner on a Monday night. It was just after 7 and we had the place all to ourselves. (Which made me nervous) But our Chicken Salad Melt and Turkey Wrap was great and Service was good too. The menu is full of delicious sounding sandwiches. It's almost overwhelming and makes ordering a bit stressful as you're standing at the counter trying to order and not hold anyone up. The desserts on the counter looked amazing but we passed because were trying to cut out the sugar. My only recommendation would be to put more turkey in the wrap - it just was a little slim. Excellent spot for sandwiches. The meatloaf sandwich is to die for. I've been a few times and haven't tried anything else yet. It all looks amazing I just can't pull myself away from the meatloaf. Those bad reviews are crazy. Hopkins is amazing but their food is creative and different. It's not white bread American run of the mill food, it's interesting local food. We come here every time I come home to visit my family. The chunky chicken melt is where it's at. We have several other favorites as well.....the house special, vegetarian primo, the spin. The Parmesan dressing is stupid good. This restaurant in no way shape or form compares to Jason's Deli (where I am also a frequent customer). Hopkins has a local following for a reason. read more

What a delicious lunch! We were in Tallahassee for a few days and were looking for a good, not-a-chain sandwich and found Hopkins. I had the veggie sandwich and it was loaded with fresh vegetables and a variety of cheeses on delicious bread. I also had a cup of their corn chowder (the soup of the day) which was some of the best I've ever had - so fresh and savory. Their iced tea was perfect and so was the homemade dessert bar I bought for later. They have three locations, but we chose this one because it was on our way back from a day trip to St. Mark's Lighthouse and near our hotel. I generally get the House Special which has turkey, ham, roast beef, bacon, cheddar, veggies and condiments on a sub roll. It's stacked pretty high and has good quality ingredients. The Italian is also delicious. I grab lunch here whenever I'm nearby because it's a great local spot for lunch. I suggest that you come here if you like sandwiches. You'll be happy. read more

I've been to Hopkins twice - once at another location and most recently at this one. I really am confused as to why people like it so much! The first time I went I got a greek salad and felt it was something I could've made better at home (I'm not a good cook lol). In general, the salad selection is really lacking. There are a bunch of salads, but none of them sound good to me. This time I went with my bf and I got the special - guac sandwich and veggie soup and my bf got the Cuban sandwich. First off, the sandwich - the bread is pretty good. But I forgot that around here everyone just uses "guac" out of a tube. As a CA native, this is disgusting. Maybe others don't mind idk. The soup was essentially inedible, both of us tried it and just threw it away. My bf's sandwich was not good either. I'm not sure what it was - I think their mustard is some weird flavor and super strong. It tasted like poison to me LOL. He ate most of it, but did not enjoy. It is also pretty pricey and the service wasn't too great either. Def not going back. Really regretted not going to Jason's Deli - same price range and the food is 19489284x better!! read more

Mediocre at very best! Think Subway... subs are over dressed and light on the meat and cheese. Very disappointed and would not return.

Hopkins is just OK. They put some creativity into their food which is nice but the reality is that it's mediocre.

Pretty good samm'iches, Cheap too, but the service is shameful. Server girls are flat and unfriendly; depressed or hung over maybe, kind of growled at me and threw my food on the counter, no thank you or even eye contact. Yikes! I kind of ducked and made my way for the door quickly before they could throw anything else. . . In their defense or at least explanation, thats somewhat to be expected of the nearby florida state university on the whole (not exactly a hub of teaching people and practical skills, you go there to play football, cheerlead, get drunk, and spend your adult life wishing you could do it over again). . . Food makes up for it a bit . . . If your broke and looking to eat quick and better than McDonald's, this is a reasonable place to go. If your looking for a date night or family day out, probably want a more customer friendly atmosphere. I'll be back when I need a quick samm'ich, no further expectations. read more
