From the moment we stepped into Loose Cannon, you could feel the good vibes and exciting atmosphere. You could see families enjoying the night, which made it even more special. It was wonderful to see that they are pet-friendly to service dogs, and people were truly understanding and welcoming. What made the night even better was Miguel, an employee at Loose Cannon, who gave us great recommendations and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. If I could do half stars I probably would have given them a 3.5. If you read my review, you will understand why I rounded up instead of down. Came here since we have been wanting to try it since it opened. My son always sees it and always want to go inside, as well. I love that they have a mini bowling game since that's another thing my son has been wanting to do. We get here, I go to the bar and order a beer and some food. I really like their selection of beer. I like how they have some that they switch out. I ended up getting their rotating nitro stout. Food I got their pretzel and their veggie burger with fries. Veggie burger was for my husband which he said he would go back for. Pretzel was nice and soft which is my favorite style of pretzel. The cheese sauce it comes with was really good. I am glad I found their selection of the mustards they have prior to finishing the pretzel. Found some pretty good ones I liked. Overall the worker and ordering experience was nice. Now here comes the part that was a bummer. Something was going on with their network so none of the games were working. Luckily since we had ordered drinks and food we had time to see if they would get it back up, but no good. We walked around at the Harbor and still nothing. Son was definitely sad, but he somewhat understood. I believe it was the manager, they helped us get a refund for the amount we loaded onto a card to play. Which when that happened they didn't sound to confident they had done it successfully. I believe we did get a refund for it. Overall, despite that, all the workers we encountered were nice and sweet. Okay, I truly have mixed feelings about this cool adult/kids, Bar/arcade, restaurant/ bar .... So I was at a kids birthday party and at first its cool, cause of the location, the waterfront, the arcade games, the bar, the string of light! Cool right? Well, its cool if you you remember that its also a kid establishment!!! Such a cool spot for adults and drinking that it feels more like an adult hangout spot rather than a "kids" fun spot. Also, the Margarita bar upstairs doesnt help. I noticed how all the adults were at the bar or upstairs and the kids were just like, "more tokens please, and the prizes sucked!" Dont get me wrong this place is very cool, the games and mini bowling are all great!!! I just dont think its for kids if the adults are just going to end up at the bar. Also, because of the layout of the restaurant, a lot of the smaller kids kept walking out of the restaurant/bar and started walking towards the rest of the harbor shops! You definitely cannot be at the bar and have the kids in an open restaurant/bar. The food part, well just eat before you go! Paper thin pizza was definitely not worth it! Service is ok. A bit disjointed. Order here...go there...etc. Definitely an elevated Chuck E Cheese situation. Arcade/bar/loud music. I feel like they're not totally sure who they are yet. Our food arrived with no silverware ( food was good btw). Staff left without even questioning dropping off 3 full meals without set ups. We were outside where it was windy and cold. Staff didn't even think to offer to turn on the fire pits, which were there. I guess my main complaint would be things were not thoughtful. 60 dollars for a few chicken tenders, burger and salad served with no silverware or follow up or even " hey, you're outside and here's this cool fire pit but I won't even ask if you'd like it lit". Nice little find within the harbor in Ventura. It was a chilly day, but the sun was out so that was nice however, we did still sit by the outdoor fire table to try and stay warm. It would be better if it was a fire pit versus a fire table, but nonetheless, it was still a nice addition. I love the concept of a place that is family-friendly where people can go grab a drink and food with their family. They have an extensive list of beers to choose from, but I wish there were more options for those of us that don't really drink beer. I ordered a rotating cider which came in a surprisingly large mug! I liked it and drank most of it. My husband ordered a beer flight, and he was happy with his selections. We also had a pizza, and my daughter had a hot dog. The food tasted much better than what I was expecting! The service was good. You can order your drinks and take them with you, but your food will be delivered to your table. The person who took our orders was knowledgeable and answered some questions we had about their menu. The person who brought our food asked if we needed anything else. We spent some time playing on the arcade games, and we particularly enjoyed the virtual reality game. We got here late after driving and honestly we didn't know what to expect. It's right in Ventura harbor, close to many ferries and shops. The pizza was excellent! Like I would happily go back. Came to try the Loose Cannon last weekend for a quick beer and to watch some of the Dodgers game. This is definitely a great new addition to the Ventura Harbor. Loose Cannon is located inside the old arcade area with an updated arcade. This area is fun for kids to play games and it's nice that Cannon has beer and food. The interior was very spacious and thankfully clean despite holding space with an arcade area. I know this business is new so I hope that they keep up with appearances as it was very nice inside and welcoming. There was also some good space between the gaming area and the main beer bar and high top tables. They had large screens to broadcast the games and while it's too loud inside to really hear the tvs well at least you get a visual and can watch your sports while grabbing a drink. I ordered a beer up at the counter and took it to a low picnic bench. On the bar area they had a few menus showcasing their food and beers on tap. The bartender was friendly but also busy so it was a quick exchange. I didn't mind that. The only reason I docked a star as I personally like to keep my drinking separate from child play areas lol. That's why I'm not a gal you'll catch often drinking beers at arcades, breweries with kids games, and so forth. I get it - parents need an escape and it's convenient for them to be able to eat out and drink while their kids play nearby. Just for me personally I like a bar or beer bar that feels like the adults only 21+ vibe. For that reason this spot won't be on my regular rotation but I can appreciate this spot for what it is. It's a nice new stopping point on the harbor and the vibes were good and I'd definitely come back to try some food and to grab another drink. Walked in on a Sunday during a crazy event for Halloween at the harbor. It was super busy. The staff is friendly and apologetic for the wait. There are ALOT of machines for your littles to play with so I love the fact that it is family friendly. Public restroom warning-no restrooms inside the place but directly outside which were pretty clean. They do lack the choices for sodas but I'm sure in time that can be fixed. I got the OG smash burger which tasted very home made so I have zero complaints on that. Sadly we ordered the presto pizza and it came out very burnt. Not sure if they were just rushing because it took over 40 min to get this out to us. eh the pizza is a no go for me esp at 22 a piece. Very nice and inexpensive spot in Ventura to grab a beer with the family. I like what they did with this spot in the Ventura Harbor that used to be an arcade. The prices are very accessible and the selection of beer is great. There are many games for the kids and adults and their bites are tasty. I got a beer flight that was one of the coolest I've ever had, because of its size and style. Their service was friendly and fast. The pepperoni pizza was very tasty and my wife got the jalapeño cheddar bacon sausage which was delicious. My son and wife loved the Godzilla virtual reality (VR) game and we played in the foosball table altogether before we left. All in all this was a fabulous experience that we will repeat again soon. Yesterday was our first time visiting and we are locals of the area and I must say, we were greatly impressed. My husband and friend had the jalapeno popper burger and said it was the best burger they had in as long as they can remember. We also ordered the onion rings, I can honestly say, they have perfected the onion ring! I ordered the peperoni pizza, which is not very adventerous but I consider myself a pizza connaisseur, and I have to say, it was fantastic. Also, the beer selection was incredible and the service was wonderful. The staff opened the sliding doors to accomidate us while sitting outside and we enjoyed 2 lovely hours sitting outside. We were so excited to have a new dining option in Ventura. Food was decent. Not stellar but not bad. However, there are significant issues related to seating, especially for folks who have a disability which overshadowed our visit. Inside seating consists of only high top or picnic style tables, the latter of which have bars at the ends that would prohibit one from rolling up a wheelchair. These bars also make it so one must physically hike their leg up and over the bench as you cannot slide in from the side. So unless you're able to sit at a high top or manage the picnic table, you're relegated to an outside table. To the establishment's defense, they did spruce up the outside with a couple of fire pits. However, these were both occupied and it was cold outside so we had to sit inside. (Visited at night in December.) Also, with no table top surface at the fire pits it would be challenging to eat a meal there anyway. Sadly, we had already ordered before I realized the seating issue (you order at the counter near the front door) and I had to call my mom and tell her not to come as there simply was nowhere for her to sit. (I did notice a low lying metal surface added at the end of the bar where I suppose one could roll up a wheelchair, but there were stacks of papers or something on it so it was unclear as to whether or not this was the designated spot for people with disabilities. Additionally, this "table" was very small - she would not have been able to dine with the family.) The lack of disability-friendly seating is such a huge oversight and I'm shocked and saddened at the lack of regard for people with disabilities. I hope they fix this issue so that all members of this community can enjoy this establishment. Until then, we will not be back. read more

The Loose Cannon is currently... a loose cannon. I would give this place a few months to a year to build character and a personality. The open spaces, gray walls, and zero decor makes you feel that they were forced to open too soon. I think many expected a beer garden or even a brewery to open, but instead a mix of local and non-local beers were on tap. We didn't try the food, but based on the recent Instagram videos, probably a good thing. There are arcade games, but limited. The mini bowling alley is cool. To the positives... Spectacular view. Service is great with smiling employees who care. Overall, I felt like we walked into a soft opening or unfinished build. It is exciting to see more places opening at the harbor, being that it's an area with so much upcoming potential. We'll stop by again in a few months! read more

A group of 6 of us visited on Sunday afternoon before the holidays. We found a firepit table outside along the water line that set the perfect mood. We ordered several beers, ciders and sangria. All were refreshing, but the Einstock white ale and cherry blossom lime seltzer were my favorites! My sister enjoyed the sangria. We ordered the spicy Hawaiian wood fired pizza, the sausage sampler and the Bavarian pretzel. My favorite was the chicken apple sausage and my partner enjoyed the jalapeño cheddar bacon. Good atmosphere, great location, and generally a good concept. Not many games and most don't work or are poorly maintained. If you decide to open a place with games, you have to assume responsibility for maintaining them. Beer tastes musty, indicative of poorly maintained lines that need to be cleaned and flushed regularly. Meh. read more
