I had the double classic burger. I wasn't really impressed. It lacked the flavor and seasoning I thought I'd get based on how good the burger looked. I needed to add ketchup and mustard to the burger to get a decent taste from it. The fries were great. I got the spicy seasoning that they offer. Now that I think of it, they should have cooked my patties in the seasoning they put on the fries and it would have been a lot more tasty. There was a good amount of people at the restaurant, so they may have had a difference flavor experience than I did.

The fire seasoning was more salty than spicy, but it was nice. The restaurant looks welcoming with bright colors. I got great service and recommendations from the staff. It's friendly and it's relaxed. We sat at the bar and were well served and had a good time. We started off with the jalapeno poppers which were tasty even if they didn't have much hot to them. Five stuffed jalapeno peppers which were tasty but unspicy. The buttermilk dip on the side is great for cooling down the heat but it wasn't needed today. It's super that they pour half pint beers which was a real plus when you're just looking for tastes and not a huge meal. The burgers did look tremendous and well presented with a 6 ounce patty, which is a bit more than a third of a pound making for a big meal. Too much for us on this trip today, but I am sure that I'll be back. [Review 1161 of 2026 - 4810 in North Carolina - 26340 overall]

We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered and the bartender explained how things work: order at the counter or sit at the bar for full service. We chose the bar. I had a Lakewood Lavender Lemonade and it was so refreshing. The bartender was super kind and it was fun to watch him up close and personal. I ordered a Burger bowl with fries and Gouda cheese sauce. Oh my! The medium well done burger was cooked and seasoned to perfection and sat atop a bed of some really good and guilt-laden fries. I chose to pour the cheese sauce on top and it was a smart move. Definitely check this spot out if you're in Durham or passing through like we were.

For the main, I ordered the standard burger despite several limited-edition options being available (ask about the Hamilton theme!). It was cooked precisely to my specified medium, with a flavorful patty and nice structural integrity throughout. The tater tots were basically as good as they come. We paired the meal with IPAs - Dancing with the Bulls and Bull in a Bottle Shop - both of which held up well against the richness of the food and worked particularly well with the burger. I finished the meal off with the amaretto which provided a balanced finish and was reminiscent of my usual espresso martini without being overly boozy or heavy. Service was friendly and professional as always, and the atmosphere remains a strong point: upscale casual without feeling forced. One of my favorite spots in downtown Durham for so many reasons, and one I'll definitely continue to return to.

I think there's a sports ball thing going on somewhere, too. One person ahead of me and I gave the nice lady my order. As I've mentioned before, there is a nice adult contemporary soundtrack that is neither background or overpowering. It just hits, and you can chat over it if you want. Or sing along. After a nice bike ride, I stopped in and ordered their three shrimp tacos. I've had them before, but they seemed even more amazing than past visits. Were the shrimp larger? Were there more of them? (4 per taco seems about right!) It was such a lot of food (added to the hazy IPA) that I had to take the last one to go. It may last the night. Or it may be breakfast. I think I've had their burger once. I'm such a sucker for grilled shrimp! Hehe. They have sides and apps as well, but I can't even finish the main!

Sweet with a little bit of tang and you can definitely taste the seasoning. The crust has the right thickness the right crunch and the right give. The crust could stand to have a little more flavor but overall it was a solid crust. My issue with the food was for $25 on a 8x10 pizza, there should be enough cheese in the mix to cover more than 60% of the pizza. They have a "signature cheese blend" but then 40% of the pizza doesn't get any of it. A bit disappointing. Which gives the value a 2/5 at best. In addition to these two factors I was asked my name for the order when I arrived. The young lady walked off and then I spotted her on her phone in the corner, followed by folding pizza boxes in a different corner. Eventually a gentleman approached with the same question. Wouldn't you know it, my order was sitting right there next to the host stand. Not impressive. The ambiance is a bit pretentious for a place serving pizza which I found to be pretty greasy. The ambiance definitely matches the price so I guess that's what they are going for. The only lot for parking is paid but I suppose that may be the norm for "downtown" Durham. The flavor again was very good, but the value and the competency of the staff are a miss. As a frequent traveler I think I'd explore the other options next time rather than return.

Thank god for places like this for those of us who want to eat past 9pm. We sat at a table rather than the bar and our waitress was just the sweetest. I just wanted a quick pre dinner glass of wine and I also admired the menu because it had a decent selection of veg options, like I could see myself hungry as an animal late at night and do well enough here.
