Beastly experience last night. Got to the restaurant at 6:15 and they were already out of prime rib. Ah well. Ordered other dishes. The side bowl of pasta cooled while we waited for main dishes so we asked the waitress to have it warmed up. She refused saying we should have asked before. What?? Husband suggested that poor service would impact the tip. She snarled back that her service would reflect our tip. We asked fir the manager at the bar. He was too busy to talk to us. As I see/saw on the line between 3 and 4 stars, I realize that a lot of the higher ratings are based on the experience of this place. 1st time here, it's great and people are still surprised by the "huge" "enormous" "gigantic" portions of the entrees even though they've read the yelp reviews stating this fact. It's definitely something to experience. But by your third or fourth time here, the surprise, wow factor of the portion size had begun to dissipate, which leaves you to take a closer look just at the food. Start with the bread. Amazing! More please, thank you! And the salad, that gorganzola vinaigrette is definitely worth the extra $0.75! Then the pasta with the sauce. Delicious! More please, thank you! And I wish that's where my meal had ended. Once that portion size WoW moment wore off, i realized that The entrees here have always been just okay ( but I do remember the blue cheese steak being really good the first time I went.) We had a reservation for 12 @6 and when we entered they had the table set and ready for us. The environment was welcoming and warm. By the time everyone arrived they had water and bread for us. They then came around with two good portions of pasta for us and our orders came out in less than 40 minutes. Our server was very nice and attentive and made sure everything was good. The main entrees and sauce were amazing and the portions were enough for a second dinner. We went there to celebrate a 2nd birthday and they offered to refrigerate the cake and when we were done eating they came out with the cake and candle lit and the whole restaurant began to sing happy birthday, which was much appreciated. Gargantuan portion sizes of mediocre food. My husband and I spent the weekend at the nearby Waters Edge resort and this places looked promising for dinner one of the nights. Sadly, we were underwhelmed. The shrimp cocktail was worth the price, and that was something we would get again. Beyond that we got the fried mozzarella stick, bruschetta, stuffed shrimp, and chicken parm. Sadly, none of it was impressive. It was a LOT of food that tasted just ok. Looked for a place to eat after shopping at BB Clinton Crossing. Searched Yelp and found The Log Cabin. Arrived at 5pm and it was busy. It was just me and my teenager. We got seated right before the wait line formed. Our waitress served right away with drinks and bread( hot and delicious). We ordered and then a huge bowl of family style ziti and sauce( delicious) came to our table. Didn't wait long for entrees. Jennifer's pasta was to die for! The Log Cabin is one of my favorite places to go and eat. I'm not much of a cabin or camping girl but something about their environment in the restaurant makes it feel really welcoming. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are HUGE I don't usually eat much to begin with so I always end up with 2-3 meals out of my order. I recommend the pasta bowl of bruschetta. It is a massive size but so good. They make garlic bread, line the bottom is a large pasta serving bowl with it and put the mozzarella, tomatoes, basil etc. On top. Definitely an appetizer to share. I couldn't wait to try this place after reading all the great online reviews and driving past it for years without stopping in. I ate dinner there this evening and was not over- or under-whelmed. It was just okay. First of all, I love Italian food and come from an Italian family of restaurant owners. There are many Italian restaurants in the state that I just love. This, however, was mildly disappointing. The tables/chairs were utilitarian, not properly distanced for Covid, it all felt disorganized. Waitstaff inattentive. Pretty gas fireplace. We ordered the Chicken Jennifer, which wasn't lemon-y enough, and the Chicken Gorgonzola, which was overpoweringly cheese-y. Both dishes lacked a nice finish to the taste (sauce.) Pasta sauce was just okay. Salads and bread were very good. Portions were enormous and we have leftovers for another night. I really wanted to love this place, but found it just "meh." None of the tables were socially distanced and every table was full with more and more people coming into the restaurant. If you have never been to The Log Cabin, go! While we had a bit of a wait to be seated, it was well worth it. All meals come with a HUGE bowl of pasta for the table to share and everyone gets a salad. For entrees, I ordered the zuppe di pesce and my boyfriend ordered the blue cheese steak. The food had excellent flavor but the serving sizes were way to large. Maybe include something that explains how large the servings are. Also $2 for a drink is not bad, $2 for a refill is a bit much. This was a super great surprise. My wife and I stopped in for lunch for our first visit on a Thursday @ 1:00 after shopping at the Outlets. The dining room is cute - just as you would expect for a "Log Cabin" including a large fireplace. There is also a bar area with seats. We were seated right away in the dining room. There was a light menu with grinders, salads, and burgers but we were intrigued by the many seafood and Italian full menu options. All of the entrees on the full menu come with a salad and pasta. Being the newbies that we were, we each ordered a chicken entree (Chicken Parm & Chicken Gorganzola). The waitress first brought us a loaf of warm, light bread and then each a nice salad. That's when the fun began. The next thing we know, the waitress arrives at our table with a MASSIVE Fiesta ware bowl of steaming hot ziti and marinara (at least a pound) - enough for a family of 4! It was PERFECTLY cooked ! We could not believe the amount of food. When I asked "is the for just the 2 of us?" We heard "Oh, Yeah. All of the meals are "Family Style !" I immediately knew we were in trouble when the entrees arrived. Sure enough, each entree included 3-4 chicken breasts served on and filling a family size Fiesta ware platter ! The food was very good, but we did not even dent it. The wait staff expects this. We took home 3 large containers that were nicely labeled and wrapped in Plastic wrap to prevent leakage in the car ! Overall, this was a great experience. We spent $45-50 for the 2 of us and we had 3-4 meals ! We did not need to cook for 2 nights. As we ate, we noticed that other newbies were also giddily amazed by the pasta and the portion sizes, while the regulars clearly knew the drill ! We look forward to returning next time we are in Clinton. I imagine this place gets very busy on Fri-Sun or at dinner time. I believe they are only open Thurs-Sun. They warned me. They warned me and I didn't listen. The portions are GIGANTIC. You have been fairly warned as well. First off, no wait at 6:10 on a Friday night was a nice surprise. Refer to the pic below for its massive amount. Yes, it's my breakfast, lunch and dinner for the weekend. Everything seemed to taste fresh, even the pasta. My one complaint is that it wasn't "bland" per say, but definitely not sweet or spicy enough for my tastes. Could have used a little more... Something. Wife got baked sea scallops and she loved them. That portion size, however, was accurate to most entree expectations. Overall, the atmosphere is local and fun, wait staff was friendly and attentive, the amount of food was well worth it and the wait for things was perfect. Minus one star for: not taking discover cards and the sauce being a little too middle of the road. But it's a great value overall and the fresh food deserves the admiration all its own. Maybe Covid related but none the less it should change for the better not worse . They still serve a good size portion most people take home . Prices have risen portions smaller and they use way to much butter in cooking everything. Put your left overs in the fridge and look at it the next morning . I'm basing my review in 3 different experiences, from a year ago, the quality has declined very much, their zuppa di pesce was very different than before and unfortunately not in a good way. The other two times I placed orders for pickup and chicken Jennifer was so horrible with a weird taste, it looks like it came straight from the freezer and warm very quickly under the broiler. The sausage used in the broccoli rab extremely dried and with a totally unpleasant after taste. To finalize my experience today I called to let the manager know about the situation and the woman on the phone said "call at 9:30 we are too busy to hear a complaint" such a sad way to end up a customer-business relationship. This place doesn't need help from my review but it is really a good family night out. The most descriptive words are " food coma". You always have a wait to be seated but it's well worth it. The portions are huge, and the food very tasty. It's also worth mentioning that even in a place where the waitresses have several tables the service is very good.
