This was our first time coming to The Loft. The Wedding Rehearsal dinner-get together was held here. My oldest child, She is getting married this weekend to the love of her life. Everything was so lovely. The set up was beautiful and nice. I love everything about the patio area here. All of the staff, they were wonderful and so helpful. The food items that were served were all delicious as well as the drinks. Everything was so very nice. We will be back again. If you have never been here before it's a great place to go whether it's for just one person, two or a group of people. Drastically different vibe if you come here for food only instead of drinks. We wanted to come here to celebrate with my family because my aunt and I had fond memories of the food and vibes. Food is still pretty good, but service/ambiance were off for a Friday night. In order to get into the courtyard you have to squeeze past people who are sitting near the front door and it's really uncomfortable. We dropped a lot of $$$ on the food but the service was really really slow. I came here later because I was in a group and I had to wait like 15 minutes for a knife and fork and had to practically hunt my server down to order food. Didn't even bother to get anything to drink. Had the server been more present I would've ordered more apps because I know those sliders and other things are good but quite frankly I didn't want to be there too much longer, as we had to sit outside and there were some heaters but not enough for our bigger group of maybe 16 and we weren't going to ask to pull some more because service was slow on a Friday night last week. As we only stopped in for a couple drinks before leaving town, after having dined across the street a few hours before, I can tell that The Loft is a quality establishment that caters to discerning diners and prosperous patrons. That being said, our admittedly limited experience was a mixed bag. With regards to the cocktails we ordered: * New Fashioned: like an Old Fashioned, but better in every way! The cherry and blackberry add a new dimension of sweet and sour notes to the nominally cough-syrupy nature of your average Old Fashioned. 10/10! * Hot Toddy: Should be called a "Not Toddy". Seemed too watered down to be considered a cocktail. The equivalent of calling a Hershey bar "chocolate". The outdoor seating area was canopied with transparent plastic sheeting, enclosed in a more claustrophobic layout than I would consider safe, since servers and patrons had to frequently squeeze by and behind us, but I'm not paranoid about COVID to fault them for this: they are working with the space they are giving, and doing well enough. Unfortunately, the heat lamp above us was malfunctioning, and thus we were in amidst a bit of a cold spot on a 37 degree day. It was warm enough to be tolerable, if not comfortable. Our hot drink and whiskey were enough to file the edges off the chill. Our waitress was efficient if slightly aloof, but I credit that to the number of tables she and her co-worker had to juggle. My brief foray into the interior of the restaurant revealed its classy layout and appointments. All-in-all, I'd be willing to give The Loft a second shot to blow my mind the next time we're in Edmonds, when the world is back to spinning normally on its axis and COVID is dead and buried. Mixed. Came here with my partner for dinner on a Saturday evening in February. Too cold to sit outside. The restaurant itself is small and crowded (or cozy?) and we found it loud and a bit stuffy. The bartender who greeted us at the door was somewhat abrupt, and we were seated upstairs at a small too-high table for two right next to a support beam that seemed very much in the way. It was all very uncomfortable and awkward. All the food we ordered -- steak salad, Brussels sprouts, fish tacos -- was delicious, and our servers were warm and provided excellent service. The place has a nice selection of cocktails, and the one we had -- the New Fashioned -- was good. Between that and the abundance of outside tables I can see coming back here for drinks outside when the weather's nice. But with so many other good restaurants in Edmonds within walking distance, unless one likes the unique cozy, loud, trying-to-be-hip vibe of the place, I don't recommend coming here for a nice dinner. read more

The first time we went we only had drinks and they were good nothing to complain about. The second time we decided to try the food. The sliders and beat salad were amazing. Can recommend for a small intimate dinner, good drinks and service. Love that they ran floor heaters out on the courtyard, I've never seen that in a restaurant, but I'm also from LA! The hosts/servers were accommodating when we walked in without a reservation, this was on a weeknight but they were still busy. Menu is pretty limited with a little bit of everything. We were waiting quite a while to for our drink roughly 15-20min. I asked the waitress how long would it take until we got our drink, the way she responded me was so rude. "Oh we are pretty busy as you see there are people sitting up there, inside and here at the backyard, do you want to cancel your drink? February 6, 2024 at 4:42: I spoke with a gentleman at the Loft and asked him if they could accommodate a table size of 15 to 20 people from 6:30pm-8:30pm, February 25th. The Gentleman said yes and said he must have me clarify this with the owner of the restaurant. I mentioned my knowledge of them having the upper floor space and asked him how many people that space can fit total, he said roughly 22 people. I asked him if he thinks that he will still be putting guests upstairs with us and he said most likely not because the tables you would be using would not leave much room for an additional table. I mentioned that it was an staff meeting, and we may be discussing sensitive topics. I gave him my number and ended this conversation. Owner Paula called me and reclarified that I was looking to reserve a table for 15 to 20 people, I said yes, and she told me that she had open time, and it would be a $500 deposit. I said that was fine and she told me she would have the restaurant call me back. The same gentleman was on the phone, and we set up our reservation. I gave him the credit card information, he stated he would personally be on site at the time of the dinner, the conversation ended. They called me back shortly after to retrieve my email to send me a copy of my receipt, which I thought was strange for a deposit but did not ask questions as I assumed it would be proof of my reservation. A few days later my manager mentioned that the $500 turned into a charge and was on the bank statement. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30pm, and ate as usual. There were guests in the lower area of the restaurant, and they had placed a very small 2-person table at the corner of the top floor near us that we did not sit at. No other guest outside of our group was brought to the top floor. Music was relatively loud, but I did not ask them to lower the music as we were not the only guests in the establishment. When the server brought us our bill, we noticed that the $500 charge was not subtracted from the total amount and asked about having it fixed. The server than revealed the charge was a fee for reserving the space. I told her that was never an agreement, and I would like to speak to the gentleman who helped me reserve these tables. He raised his arms and stated I would have to speak with the owner of the restaurant Paula. I said okay, and we departed. I had a phone call with Paula on February 27th at 5:37pm to discuss the charge. Paula reiterated that she remembers telling me in original phone call that there was a $500 deposit that I agreed to. I pointed out to her that she both in this very moment and in the first phone call said the word deposit and then explained my understanding of what a deposit was using a hotel deposit as an example. Paula then tried to tell me my definition was wrong, and it was a collected fee for reserving the party space because it was a private meeting. I told her I never reserved a party space; I reserved a table that could accommodate a party of 15 to 20. She then stated that she reserved the whole restaurant for us from open to close and I reiterated that I only reserved a table for my group on the upper floor, we did not request from open to close and reminded her of the guests that were on the lower floor. She backtracked and restated it was from 6:30 to close. She also revealed that the shift manager was supposed to ask us what volume we wanted the music at and if we wanted the TV on or off. I told her we were never asked this question and also mentioned that the music was loud, but I did not feel comfortable asking for an adjustment as there were other guests. She sounded frustrated and exclaimed she specifically told the staff member to ask this information. Paula used the word deposit 2 additional times on this phone call and stated "I mean fee" on the last use of deposit. I told her this charge was unauthorized and I did not sign a contract for a private party reservation with a cancelation policy. Paula in a frantic tone stated her husband was out of town and would have to discuss with him before she can make any changes. I told her okay and the conversation ended. Paula has since stop communication with me. I am giving 2 stars because the food and the cocktails were good and I don't want to slam their staff for bad business practice. Be very cautious about reserving tables here as $500 for a very small space is outrageous. read more

The Loft is my go-to restaurant for date nights, meetings, and special occasions, and I don't think that will ever change! Regardless of the night I can almost always be seated immediately, and there are tons of different choices whether you want to eat indoor near the bar, in the loft, or in one of the heated outdoor areas. The drinks are amazing, and so is the food. For the quality of the meal, and the incredible service, the pricing is more than reasonable! Would highly recommend any of the seasonal salads, as well as the sliders with bacon jam and arugula. read more

Sadly, Loft continues to decline. It's a lovely, cozy spot, but its formerly adventurous menu has been replaced with much more standard fare, albeit well done. Last night there were only a couple of entrees that appealed to my wife and I; we both settled on the pork souvlaki, which was fine. But clearly cost-cutting is uppermost in the minds of the management, not customer service. Any restaurant at this level that still requires customers to scan a bar code to get to a menu and only has very well-worn and crumpled thin photocopies of menus as back-up (both my wife's phone and mine had trouble retrieving the online version), doesn't get the concept of service. Add to that entrees that were brought to the table only a couple of minutes after we'd received our appetizers - we sent them back to wait until we were ready, as there was nowhere on the small table surface to put them, and they were only warm when they were brought back - and something has clearly gone wrong in service pacing in the kitchen. And when I asked for the check the server brought a tablet and just showed me the total; when I asked to see the check details she seemed genuinely surprised and affronted, but was quickly able to show them to me. Can Loft not afford a check printer? We've had many excellent and enjoyable meals at Loft in the past, but this downward trend has been apparent the last couple of times we've been there. After last night, and with so many more good options now available in Edmonds, I think we're done here. read more

I had the BEST time here at the Loft for my birthday Paula and Denny made our day so special, this was our first time here. The back patio is lush with green plants and shaded umbrellas. The drinks were beautiful (espresso martini pictured). The best customer service hands down for Edmonds. We will be back soon to eat dinner.... This is such a fun place to come on a Friday afternoon. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and easy to get a seat. We had fish tacos and crabcakes and the temperature on the seafood was sizzling hot and all of the sides were nice and cool. I never would've noticed the temperature but this place really had it down right. Like most places in Seattle this crabcake was approximately 80% scrumptious and fresh crab and some bread for the rest. Ok, now the food review. I give it a great big MEH! I ordered the salmon. It was dry and overcooked, the asparagus was stringy and overcooked, the grains were undercooked and crunchy. My plate of food arrived cold along with the barely luck warm hot tea. I asked twice for hot water for my tea, it never happened. The other guests at our table were not impressed with their choices, but we were hungry and we ate most of it. Bottom line, not worth your time or money.....unless you are there to drink. "Enticing entrees, strong cocktails, great ambience, and strained service staff." Let me first begin by saying I will revisit this cafe to see if the the service is different from what I have encountered. I noticed the service was sparse and the restaurant was packed. The wait times for tables was minimal and it helped that the cafe had a terrace, bar, loft, and patio seating. The menu provided a wide range of selections and cocktail list provided a comprehensive list for any happy hour adventures. We initially ordered a Rose and Aviation Martini as pre-dinner cocktail. Both beverages and waters took a long time to come out. Our server was apologetic and immediately took our entree orders. I ordered the pork belly and Kobe beef sliders. We waited longer for our entrees and water refills were not provided. I was able to get the attention of another server and requested more water. The entrees arrived about 40 minutes after our initial order and sadly there was still no water. The pork belly was tasty and the maple mustard glaze added a good depth of flavor. The petit arugula was just the right amount and complimented the decadence of the pork belly. The Kobe sliders was cold and a bit dry. My overall initial impression of the cafe is that the service staff was strained and the long wait time for our entrees and water definitely affected the experience. read more

Went here yesterday for an unplanned Sunday Funday! Apparently for the last 3 (??) weekends, Edmonds has closed down the roads around its city center to allow restaurants to expand their outdoor seating options. Edmonds is such a cute town and fun to walk around so I'm glad they have chosen to do this. Also, it makes social distancing way easier when you aren't confined to a sidewalk. But this review isn't about Edmonds itself, it's about the yummy meal we had at The Loft! COVID accommodations: all staff were masked and diligent about keeping their masks on. Staff were also gloved when interacting with customers. The restaurant is using disposable plates and utensils to, I assume, cutdown on cross contamination. Waste concerns aside, this made me feel safer. Customers access the menu by using a QR code attached to the tables. I've seen a lot of restaurants adopt this during COVID and honestly I wouldn't hate if this is something we keep post-COVID (...whenever that is). Finally, the payment process was pretty seamless as well. They use a square and an iPad, and the iPad is sanitized before being handed to the customer. It's the little things, but you can tell that this restaurant is taking things seriously! Service: kind, attentive, and informed. They were also really fun to interact with, which is definitely appreciated during these odd times. Food: We started off with the truffle fries, and then I got a Caesar salad with shrimp and my boyfriend got the fish and chips. The truffle fries were dank. Perfect amount of salt. Which is to say, it might be salty for others but I like a good salty fry so this was perfect for me. Boyfriend loved the fish and chips (read: second order of fries - we really like fries). Caesar salads are really just a vessel for cheese and dressing haha. That said, I would highly recommend adding a protein if you're planning on getting the caesar salad as a main. The shrimp was well seasoned and not overcooked. Honestly, at the end of day, I would have been happy with a bucket of that shrimp haha. We really enjoyed our meal here and can't wait to come back! They will not split orders, they will not split checks according to what you ordered, they required a gratuity, they were out of beer and the food was meh... ok. One of our cocktails was very good and that's it. So dissatisfied and rarely leave critical feedback but this one deserves a warning. Especially to small groups. I had made reservations for New Year's Eve & was beyond disappointed upon entering The Loft Cafe. The waitstaff were wonderful, (10/10 ) but the overall ambiance was so unappealing. It was quiet & awkward like you could feel disappointment floating around from table to table. Even still with all of that, I think I would have stayed had it not been for the smell. The smell was ultimately the nail in the coffin for me. I could not see myself sitting & enjoying a $100 course menu with the smell of chemicals & whatever else wafting about. I do not typically take time out of my day to leave a one star review on Yelp but that was sure a bummer way to begin the end of 2023. read more
