During our vacation we came here once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times our meals were amazing. I have to say that our dinner experience blew lunch out of the water. We chose to sit at the bar, there was 6 of us so it was the perfect spot. Our bartender was Kyle and he was the best. He gave us amazing recommendations, the Kung Pao Avocado is a must try along with the mushroom bruschetta. He was so friendly, funny and just a cool dude. We had some delicious drinks, ate way to much and stayed longer then anticipated. Definitely would recommend this spot 10 out of 10 times. Wow! Sparkly Clean establishment! Can't put the precise words down, but you just feel good when you arrive! We were immediately welcomed and seated in a cozy booth off to the side. Our waitress Meryl (I know cool name right?) promptly came and took our beverage order. We both opted for the scrumptious lemonade, the perfect acoutrements to a balmy Fall day. I had the mango shrimp salad and ooh LA LA, fresh is the first word that pops up! Crisp spinach with a nice assortment of veggies, and perfectly ripened mango. We went last Sunday for brunch and totally forgot to leave a review! We been here a few times and this by far was my favorite. We loved everything from our server to our food. The Local was an amazing Naples find!! Our experience started out great with our amazing waitress Cristina. She gave us so many great recommendations, all of which we are every last bite of. I loved the idea of this restaurant-fresh farm to table and sea to table. Their pastas, pizzas, bread, etc is all made in house. We started with the Mezze Plater which was a great appetizer for a group of 5 of us. The fresh pita bread with the house-made spreads were amazing. We went with the daily specials for entrees. The scallops on top of polenta cakes were very unique and beautiful, the lemon salmon was perfectly cooked, and the pork chop topped with pineapple and mango salsa was so flavorful. The pizza was a great thing to share as well. You can't go wrong! One tip I wish I would have know is their early bird special. If you come before 6:15 I think, there is a 3 course meal for $25. So accommodating, he's one of the managers & just incredible. So many vegan options. I didn't quite enjoy my food to be honest but I will be transparent I am very picky & my tastebuds need a lot of flavor which is all I found lacking but I enjoyed their in house almond cheese it's amazing! Deliciously fresh and flavorful meal at The Local. The lamb with the homemade pasta was perfectly cooked. Very tender and tasty. Couldn't have asked for better! I could have done without the Cobia special. It was so dry and tough I thought it was chicken at first, and it lacked any taste. The side of sautéed greens were to "earthy" tasting for myself, but for someone who likes that flavor, I am sure they are suitable. The pie for dessert was sweet and light. I will NEVER come here again! When we arrived at 11:00 am on a Sunday morning there were about 5 tables of customers. I specifically asked for a booth by the door-2 we're empty-but was told they were reserved. 45 minutes later (no food yet) I went to find manager. Place had filled up-but we still haven't received food. THEN I SAW THAT THE 2 booths that were empty had people sitting there, eating Their food. And one table actuall was just finishing. When I asked where our order was they said it's still on the line." A pancake and a chia pudding. Really?!?! They should have admitted the order got lost and not blame it on the line cook. I was returning from a day-long, tiring trip to the east coast with my wife and two friends when we decided to stop for dinner. It was close to 8:00 and in all honesty we thought we were headed to another place...however we booked reservations at the Local. It was an extremely fortunate accident. We were pleasantly greeted by a very nice young lady who sat us in John's section - another fortunate "accident" for us. John was a great server, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the night's offerings. He professionally guided us through both the regular and "Sizzle Week" menu in an enthusiastic, though not pushy manner. Three of us went for the Sizzle option; a great four-course deal for $26. We each started with delicious, from-scratch turkey vegetable soup and one of their salad options (my wife loved her blue cheese salad). Three of us had the perfectly-sized (i.e., there were leftovers) pizza: a Carnivore, Shrimp Scampi and plain Cheese. The pizza's were a tad heavy on the cheese (easily rectified) but delicious nonetheless. I opted for a Fl Gulf Shrimp Pasta (capellini, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, tarragon with creme fraiche) and couldn't be happier. The dish was amazing, with the corn adding a touch of sweetness to the fresh pasta. We all wrapped up with a homemade apple turnover with fresh whipped cream. John even tossed in one for the person that ordered from the regular menu. It was the best apple turnover I've tasted, sweet with a nice touch of cinnamon. We ended the evening talking to John about the restaurant (cool vintage Fl artwork in a very comfortable setting) and the kitchen team. I commented that the Local reminded me a bit of another favorite restaurant in Ft. Myers with a classically-trained chef (Harold's). John has not been there, but he told us about some of his favorites. I find this refreshing because many servers these days barely know their own shop as opposed to other good locations. This is the type of thing I've seen only in real foodie cities like Charleston. It also tells me that the Local and their team are the real deal with it comes to food. The Local is definitely worth a stop - especially if you can get their for restaurant week. Very happy about this place. read more

Diners can sit outside. Inside is a cool ambiance like a casual restaurant/bar one might find near a university. They serve LOCAL food. Many dishes are available gluten free or vegan. A few minutes after we sat down, our server Chrissy came with two plates: crisp veggies and humus. Thus, we decided to skip salads and both had red lentil soup for our dinners. We ate around 515 to 6 pm and were eligible for early bird dinners and discounts on wine. For entrees we had a garden veggie flatbread with house-made ricotta and pan-seared snapper with two sides. Everything was very tasty. Early bird dinners also come with dessert, but there is no choice in this. Prices are reasonable. Service is attentive. Food is very good. We will return. read more

My father and I went to the Local for the very first time this evening and had fantastic service and a great meal. My dad doesn't tend to finish his meals and always has leftovers but not tonight! He ate everything, pan seared salmon, roasted cauliflower and a sweet potato cake. He even ordered dessert (he had to take half of that home). Very disappointed with my experience tonight customer service wise while attempting to order takeout. I wanted to get salads and pizza, but my parents both have dietary restrictions and can't have certain ingredients. I explained I wanted to make my own pizza and the first employee let me know "it's $2 extra per topping," which is what it says online. Then he directed me to the host who said that it was $3 a topping. When I told her that online it says $2 and her co-worker said the same she said, very rudely, "I type them in everyday -- they're $3." They don't lower the base price for pizza if you're "modifying" (and don't let you remove toppings) so if I ended up ordering a plain cheese pizza with sauce and 4 vegetables, it would cost me $35 -- when the ingredients on all their other pizzas are much more expensive and those pizzas cost $18-$22. The fact that they don't offer a base pizza with a certain number of capped personalized toppings for a set price is a bit wild, but the reason for the poor review is really the service and rudeness of the hostess taking the order. We were prepared to spend over $100 and the hostess really didn't care. I know it's hard to staff and places are busy, but you can still be kind. Will not be returning here. read more

Came here on Sunday. Wasn't too fond of the brunch menu as everything seemed very "heavy" and just starchy. So for lunch we opted for the spinach watermelon salad, Cubano sandwich, a kids slider (for our daughter) and buttered noodles (for the wee little one). We also had two cocktails (an orange triple sec tasting drink) and a tequila flavored margarita. For dessert we had a pineapple carrot cupcake. Although a tad pricey ($100 for everything with tip)... the food was surprisingly fantastic (except for the cupcake). The watermelon spinach salad was "lights out" and that's coming from someone who would never order a salad for lunch let alone a salad with a sweet fruit. But every ingredient in here was so fresh and ripe and delicious that it all blended together wonderfully. The cubano was filled with high quality meats, a touch of dijoin, and manchego. I could have used a touch more pickle and mustard but that aside the turkey and pulled pork was just insanely good. But the real surprise came from the kids slider which was basically a basic 6oz cheeseburger. I kid you not it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Very unexpected. The drinks were pretty decent but nothing great a t all. In fact I wouldn't recommend the cocktails. They just lacked body in my opinion. The big disappointment here was the cupcake. It was horrible. The waitress didn't tell us it was gluten free but it was and it was inedible. She forgot to take it off the bill which I wasn't going to raise a stink about. But I have to say for $7 it was really one of the most overpriced and worst tasting cupcakes ever. For that we had to deduct a star. Our server was a little slow and a little out of place but she was friendly and didn't screw anything but I definitely can't say it was excellent service. Another thing I didn't quite love was the atmosphere. Something about the layout seemed a little odd to me. I can't really explain it but I don't think the benches were comfortable at all and the decor was kind of all over the place. But it was bright and clean so that's a plus. read more

It took a bit to get seated despite having a reservation. 40 mins after our reservation time, we were finally ordering. Service met expectation. Food was hit and miss. The mushroom pappardelle was superb! Both the gulf shrimp pasta & the key west shrimp pizza featured over cooked shrimp that had little flavor. The kale on the pizza was overwhelming... in my opinion, it needed more cheese and shrimp and less kale. In my friends opinion, the kale should have been entirely replaced by arugula.
