Great food, cocktails, and service. Just be ready to pay for it. I feel they're a little overpriced.

We really enjoyed an early dinner at the Local! We started off with a complimentary cornbread which was truly the best cornbread I've ever had. The Jalapeño Business cocktail was amazing. The grilled caramelized pineapple was a pretty and delicious touch. The chargrilled oysters were plump and flavorful. I just wish there was an even number to make it easier for splitting! Lastly, the buttermilk chicken sandwich was so good. The chicken was well cooked and the flavors were great. The fries were hand cut and yummy. I think they'd go better with a garlic aioli dipping sauce instead of ketchup. We will definitely go back to try more of the menu! read more

I couldn't wait to try out the newest restaurant in Harford County! Decided to stop in midweek for lunch when they were less crowded. I took a seat at the bar and started with the French onion soup that had just the right amount of cheese and was very flavorful. I chose the short rib grilled cheese with fries. The meat was perfectly cooked as were the house cut fries. Interestingly they sprinkled a cinnamon mix on the fries which was actually pretty good. As delicious as the food was, I must say the old fashioned was the icing on the cake! The first one I've had that was smoked with wood chips in front of my eyes. I can't wait to come back a give their dinner menu a try! read more

The first time I went I had my server Danielle who was super sweet and informative about the menu we only came for dessert and it was fabulous. I had split a banana foster with my boyfriend and it had small buisness graham cracker icecream paired with it which was amazing as well. The second time we went we got dinner and Cameron as our server who was also very nice and was very helpful with our specific order. She even ran my cc card outside to me when I had left it at the table after eater very thoughtful! We spit a delicious local burger cooked medium well juicy as all can be with side fries coated in brown sugar tasted just bbq seasoning sweet and tangy it was so good. Then came around to the bannna foster again! Big hit defiantly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner the service is nice the food is a bit expensive but it's local what you expect and the resteraunt is clean hope to see more great things from this buisness. read more

The only reason I gave 5 stars is because 6 wasn't an option! We had heard about The Local and failed at getting in last week. We decided to try again this week and were blown away! The Sous Vide Tomahawk for 2 was AMAZING!!!! The sides were equally incredible. The service, top notch! We highly recommend this restaurant over Ruth's Chris, Capitol Grille, and any of the other many fine dining establishments we have experienced. We will be back for sure! I think it's Harford County's best restaurant, hands down! What a gem!!! read more

Went to The Local for the first time last night, and let me say that the hype is real! There was not one thing we didn't like and our server, Carol, was divine! We ordered the Tuna Tostada for an appetizer, and I had the Lobster Pot Pie for dinner. Another couple ordered the Tomahawk steak from our party, and 10/10 with the presentation & how it was cooked. Will be coming back to request her for another amazing dining experience. Great new spot in Harford county. read more

I was surprised at how much I liked it. The parking sucks but the food is great. Now they have outside seating. Great

Met my gf here for lunch last week & I was super excited to try this new place!!! I had heard some great things mixed with a few not so great, so we were seated out in the tent. ( I felt a bit clostrophobic ) & all I can really say was that it was just ok.. tuna app was yummy, salad yum.. cream.of crab.. ehhh, I'd pass. I wasnt crazy about the drink menu so I ordered wine.. no Moscato but, Id definitely give them another go in the future & I hope they are successful!!! read more

I have been to this place 2 times to eat. Loved the food and was having a graduation party thought it would be nice to order there Charcuterie. I ordered 2 large. They were very pretty but came with no crustinis as told to me. The board has lots of creamy cheeses on it so I would think you would need the crustinis to spread the jam and cheeses and honey on. When I called to see what happened the girl was so condescending it made me a little angry. She said" Im so sorry you didnt get your couple pieces of crustinis." The fact of the matter is I spent money for something that didnt come as I was told. I will not be going back bad buisness is bad buisness!!! read more

Tried The Local for the first time today. Good atmosphere and attentive staff. Nice menu selection. Some items a bit pricey but with ingredients locally sourced that's understandable. We ordered the wedge salad, burger and short rib so well worth the trip. We will be going back. read more

This is a GREAT new place in Harford County!!!! Chef Zack has done an outstanding job building a local menu and has put a team together 2nd to none. This is a real treat to be so close to where I live but I'd have no issues traveling for this experience. Job well done Chef Zack and Team! read more

My server was blonde friendly and nice. She seemed sweet but didn't check back much. I ordered the short rib it was a little dry. Not what I was expecting overall. But the ambiance was very nice. The menu has a lot of other great options to try read more

Arrived at the local today at seven minutes past 4 pm ( they open at 4 and don't take reservations ) already a 2 and 1/2 hour wait. No where to wait but your car, bar is small and restaurant is behind a Waffle House. The food is ok. We have eaten there before and it is better than most chain restaurants but not worth the wait. Won't be back. read more

Been here several times and have generally enjoyed it. Made a reservation and was on time. Several large tables came in and I noticed there wasn't enough staff. We patiently waited for food and refills that took longer than they should have but we didn't complain. Then the manager approached us to tell us he was "moving" us as he needed the table... as I patiently was waiting for my check. A hello would have been nice. Never paid so much to get a bum rush! It was embarrassing! Not sure I am up for the pretentious atmosphere especially when you have to fight the Dunk'n drive through for non-existent parking! read more

My husband and I came here on a Sunday night at 5pm. The place is already packed. We didn't have an issue with getting seated. We did share a communal table but they left the seats in between us and another couple empty so we had space. The food is excellent! We ordered oyster, grilled octopus. I had the sea bass on the specials menu, husband had the filet and it was so so so good. So tender, flavorful and juicy like melt like butter. I especially liked the creamed corn that came with his entree and drizzled a lot of it on my sea bass. Not sure if the chef would be happy. But it works. The banana foster is good. I would have it a little lighter on syrup the next time we visit. Ignore the cranky reviewers. This place is elevated and homey and definitely feels local at the same time. Service was lovely. When our dessert took a little longer to come out, the manager went into the kitchen and brought it out for us. Our waitress was lovely as well. read more

Excellent food, great service, fun atmosphere and entertainment! Highly recommend for an elevated dinner or casual dining.

I made a reservation for 11 for a birthday party weeks ahead. On the day of, and 90+ degrees outside, the hostess called several times asking could we sit outside. I advised we had babies and people over 70 , so no thank you, twice. From then on I was nervous about our arrival that I had planned weeks ago. The table we were given was up against a wall so half of the party had to slide in and looked trapped. The waitress was over the top nice and festive. For appetizers we order the tuna tostado, cheese steak egg rolls and chicken fried deviled eggs. Very sparse with actual ingredients. The wedge salad was literally a wedge of iceberg, very little of anything else. Be warned. My entree was verlasso salmon, I give it a 1. It was just a square block of fish not even shaped like a piece of salmon. I broil salmon at home all the time and it should flake apart when you cut into it. This cut more like a pork chop or burger. It was tasteless. We were celebrating a birthday which we told the waitress when we arrived. She said "Oh a celebration is headed your way". The entree dishes were cleared. A party goer wanted more coffee, some were going to order dessert. Didn't happen. Now with no coffee or drink refills, no desserts, no waitress........crickets. About 15 minutes later the waitress appears, but by now the mood has dropped, tired of waiting we ask for the check. The waitress says : oh what about your birthday dessert?" We were all deflated from the long wait and we ask for it to be wrapped to go. They packed the egg custard (?) and a lantern that you light (usually at the table) and it is festive. The waitresses lack of attention after the plates were cleared was frustrating. It will be a while or maybe never before I try again. We have had less pricey meals with better service and a nicer place to sit to enjoy it. read more

We heard great reviews about The Local so when in the area, we stopped for lunch. The decor and the vibe of the restaurant made a great first impression. We were seated immediately and our server was extremely personable and attentive. The menu offered a nice variety of lunch options. We ordered the award winning Buttermilk chicken sandwiches and they were delicious! Overall, we were amazed at not only the quality of the food, but also the outstanding service. Highly recommend! read more

I really hate to leave this review because I wanted to love this place. Bartender seemed bothered to have to wait on us and talked about work gossip with another girl sitting at the bar. We had to yell or raise a hand to get the attention of the bartender. They started to have a staff meeting while we were still finishing. It was so uncomfortable. Everything we ordered was SO sweet. The grilled cheese and chicken sandwich were so sweet we ended up not finishing. The fries were regular potatoes with brown sugar on them. They were horrible. We left hungry... read more

Had the most amazing experience at the local!! Our server was carol and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and made the most amazing recommendations! We will be back but we're requesting carol! Definitely check this place out read more

Had the best dinner at the Local tonight. Food was top tier. Atmosphere was awesome. Best was the service though. Jenna was awesome! Super personable and charming. We will definitely be back! I didn't like the one menu policy, but I guess they're reducing their carbon footprint lol. read more

Amazing dinner!! Perhaps the best I have had since I moved to Maryland 34 years ago including downtown Baltimore! Honey Bee cocktails were excellent! No apps but the salmon entree & pork tenderloin special were both outstanding! No room for dessert. Everyone on staff was very attentive from the lovely young lady that seated us to our adorable & knowledgeable server and the manager that stopped by. I wish I could give 10 stars, I can't wait to go back!! read more

Wish I could give ten stars for the food, the chef here is amazing we were so pleased with our meals! Me and my husband squeezed into the bar since the wait for a table was extremely long; we ordered the steak frites and the duck leg but asked the chef to modify it to more of a savory dish and he very kindly did so. Both meals were to die for honestly so good; we will absolutely return! Only con is the size feels too small for the environment they're going for and the location is sort of odd. The old fashioned and step brother cocktails were made wonderfully, bartenders were very fun and nice as well. read more

The food is fantastic. It is pricey, but you have ample portions. The mussels are big and have a great sauce.

We ate at The Local and loved our experience. The local burger and the lobster pot pie were great, but the Tomahawk steak was amazing. A great atmosphere and our server was outstanding. Carol answered every question and made sure our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. We will definitely be back! read more

Exactly what Harford County needed. There was an hour wait, so we opted for the bar and still had a great experience. Drinks and service were top notch. The beef Wellington for two did not disappoint. We will definitely be making this our go to date night spot. read more

Went to check it out for my birthday... drinks were amazing!!! Got a Paloma (but they called it something else) & a chocolate martini which was delicious. Server was great, super personable & attentive. Got the beef stroganoff... Beef was cooked perfectly. Noodles were a substitute which I wasn't told in advance & were less than al dente & chewy. Let the server know, the supervisor came over & offered a free dessert which was really nice but I was still kind of hungry since the noodles were 75% of the meal. I wish they'd of offered a starch (fries, Mac & cheese, risotto, mashed potatoes)... My dad shared his fries & they were amazing. read more

Disappointed at the level of service after spending over $200 for a date with my husband. We sat at the bar, front and center, in front of both bartenders and were over looked for refills on our empty drinks. Not until I was slurping the melted ice cubes were we acknowledged. This happend on the second order of drinks as well. We let that slide but asked for an order of the bread pudding dessert and the check. We patiently waited or our dessert. In the mean time the $200 check came and we paid and tipped. We continued to wait for our dessert which took longer than our entrees. Finally we asked to get it to go, figuring that was a polite way to say we were done waiting but we still waited longer. When the manager finally brought the dessert out we expressed our shock for the wait and lack of service and we were offered nothing other than a half hearted apology. Once we got home, the bread pudding was straight out of the refrigerator and not even warm! Not sure what the wait was for if they simply cut a piece of refrigeratored dessert!! We don't mind paying for a nice night out but the service didn't measure up. Very disappointed and won't bother going back. We would have been taken care of better at Outback Steak House! What a shame that the manager didn't bother to try and correct the situation. read more

This place looks great on paper but doesn't deliver on the execution. The place is nice, the staff is nice, but as somebody mentioned it is painfully slow. We were in for a late Friday lunch, it was mostly empty, and we waited easily a half hour for a small simple Burrata appetizer, which is a mostly already prepared, I guess they had to cook the peach to order? The 6 tiny slivers of peach and the 3 tiny slivers of toast that accompanied a 6 oz ball of cheese I mean. The drinks aim for the sky but you can't taste any of the fancy ingredients they tout, just booze. I was sold on the chicken and waffles, our waitress raved about them. The waffles tasted pretty good, the chicken was lower quality than Popeyes, the whole thing was drenched in a puke looking, nasty gravy, tasted like powdered gravy jazzed up with a tablespoon of curry powder. Place talks a big game but doesn't quite have the goods to back it up. Very expensive too read more
