I see that a lot of people have had a great experience here but we did not. I am not sure if it was because we were there to see a band or what, but our service was horrible. First let me just say, the band was incredible. No one can beat Fallston Barrel House for entertainment. We were so disappointed in our server. He waited on us promptly, which was good. However, once we ordered sodas and not bar drinks he disappeared quickly. Normally I would not have been upset, I used the be a server and hey, people that buy booze spend more. But I expressed a sincere interest in purchasing food, going as far as to ask what he recommended. He never came back to see if we wanted food. He came back an hour later to see if we wanted more drinks. I had been looking forward to eating there because it was our first time going and the reviews have been amazing. Also, I was starving. It wasn't even a matter of flagging him down, he just disappeared altogether. I am not sure if we will go back even though we want to come to the shows. Our family stopped in over the weekend for dinner. We got seated inside right away. I don't think the air conditioner was working because it was hotter inside than outside. They had a live band playing and there was a pretty decent crowd. They have a lot of staff and they all work quick and together. Our family ordered a round of drinks and they came out fairly quick. They weren't too strong for a cocktail but they were good. I had the raspberry spiked lemonade, I liked it. I tried the blue berry one which I thought was better. The pina colada crush was a little too sweet. I had ordered the barrel chicken sandwich, with the Nashville hot sauce in the side. I really like it, just was too hot inside to finish. It comes with a big pile of chips. The Nashville hot sauce was pretty good. My boyfriend loved his hush puppies. Stopped for a quick lunch on the way to a graduation trip and honestly it was the highlight of our 4.5 hour drive. We went in stressed and came out full and relaxed. Sat on the patio and had excellent crab balls, cream of crab and gumbo soups, a just right margarita and a cold delicious cider. We just tried this for the first time last week. We will definitely go back. We went especially for the crab cakes that had good reviews. We liked them well enough. They were very soft, but we'll cooked and seemed to have plenty of crab meat in them. One of our surprise favorites ware the Brussels Sprouts! I've never had a bad meal at the Barrel House. Their cream of crab soup is among the best I've had. The salads are great. And the appetizers are enough for a meal. The service is always personal and top notch. It's a hopping place with music and more on the weekend. I'm too old for all that noise but it's great for the younger crowd. They have the best food ever! The cheese balls and barrel shrimp are my absolute favorite! The people that work there are the nicest people ever and the owner is the most polite and amazing person I've ever met! They have multiple options for different atmospheres you'd like, for instance a rock band in the hall downstairs, while there's a smaller country artist in the down bar area, and another smaller artist in the upstairs bar! Our daughter and grandson recommended that we try the Fallston Barrel House. So, we did. We made a reservation for a late lunch at 3:15 PM. We were very surprised to see the parking lot full of cars. We were told that a reunion was taking place in the main part of the dining room. We sat at the one low table in the corner of the bar, and it was perfect. The restaurant is decorated in a nostalgic theme - old pictures of long gone actors, and whiskey barrels. The restaurant is huge. We were told that they could accommodate up to 400 people in an assortment of dining rooms and bars. They also have an outside patio bar. Our server, Justin, was very friendly and attentive. We all decided on burgers. My husband and I had the Barrel Burger topped with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and bacon. The burger came with chips. Our friends had the Fallston BYO Burger which meant in addition to the 1/2 lb. fresh Angus chuck, they could make it their own. They had fresh onions, cheese, bacon and a fried egg. Made reservations for a Friday evening with some friends. We opted for the dining room since there was live music in the bar. We started off with the crab dip, which was really tasty! I'm used to eating crab dip with bread or pretzels but the tortilla chips they served were really good with it. For meals, we ordered Caesar salads with blackened chicken, Baltimore crab soup, and salmon BLT salad. The chicken was good but the Caesar salad itself just tasted like wet lettuce without any dressing. My friends liked the soup but thought it tasted more like cream of crab as they couldn't really taste the mix of Maryland crab. The burgers are always delicious! The shrimp salad was equally as good! The honey chicken mac n cheese was lacking the little sweetness you should get from the tenders, but was still good. Tater tots fried perfectly crispy! Some of the best onion rings I have had, and I have tried many! The prices are a bit pricey for some things, but worth the it! I would like them to add Pepsi Zero to their drink list. But thats a meh issue. The restaurant was loud due to the live music, and also had music playing over speakers. I decided to descend on the FBH to take in some live music on a Sunday afternoon. Carl Filipiak and Jimi Jazz rocked the house. The show was in the FBH Cellar. So, what does one do when they go out to hear live music? Well, you eat and drink. And that's what a buddy of mine and I did today. Service here is very good and attentive. Food? Well, let's go back to Bidenomics. My first visit, reviewed here in Yelpland, had me order home style chicken tenders. Last year, four tenders ran $15. Today? Three for $14. Hmmm. Everything seems to be up at least a third from a year ago. Food. Energy. Fireworks. Food, retail and foodservice: we have the above example. And, even shopping at Aldi, $50 filled three bags. Now it fills two. On top of that, items are in smaller packages and prices are stratospheric. For the same amount of money a friend spent for his annual Independence Day celebration, he only got two thirds of what he bought last year. Enough of my rant. There's 81 million reasons why things are the way they are and I'm kinda tired of it. Oh, my $63 synthetic blend oil changes are now $107. Not sure what the point of actually making a reservation is if it's completely meaningless - which it clearly is here. The manager finally decided to check in on us 35 minutes into the wait. No offer of a round of drinks, or appetizers for the inconvenience. They have a lot to learn about the hospitality business. We went to hear some bands play at Fallston Barrel House and the staff was in chaos. Ruth, our server, received 2 credit cards for 2 split bills. Ruth brought our checks back separately and the amounts were right BUT she had swiped my credit card for both bills We called the next day after I noticed the 2 charges and explained to the hostess who answered the phone. She went to get a manager but said they were too busy, it was 3pm. The hostess took down all the information and she said the manager will take care of it. 3 days later and I still have 2 charges and they have both went from pending to done. I called again and talked to Luna, she tried to get a manager but manager was too busy AGAIN. I ended up calling the lead singer from one of the bands to help me. He talked to the owner and said it will be taking care of. Well 1 week later it still hadn't been fixed. The owner Elie promised that it would. It took 16 days and numerous calls to finally get my refund. The customer service was atrocious. read more

That's it last strike. And it got worse each time. First of all the place was so hot I couldn't think. Second there were 2 bar tenders with 6 customers at the bar but they were so busy flirting with each other to pay a bit of attention to the bar customers. On top of it all, I wanted to stay to watch the derby and the only TV visible from our seat was changed to basketball right when the horses were lining up. Wow us all I can say to that. The female manager, I assume drunk owners wife, came over to deliver the horseradish dip that wasn't horseradish and came back one time only to ask if I needed a drink 10 minutes after my empty glass sat there and 10 seconds after the bar maid final came. She only asked if I needed a drink and not how was every thing. No concern at all. I am heartbroken that yet another local establishment has gone to hell. This place I guess is just doomed. We decided that we would have an Irish wake for Michael's celebration of life and barrel house was amazing they were able to dress the tables for a warm, inviting environment, food was delicious, bar was overflowing. We came here for a concert this afternoon. We were immediately greeted by our server who took drink orders. We each ordered sodas. They were served in small dixie cups and were mostly ice. When asked if there were free refills, we were told no. We put in our food order, and waited. And waited. And waited some more. Our server kept coming over and apologizing. He told us he had to help in the kitchen. Almost 90 minutes later, just as we were about to cancel our order, our food arrived. My food was cold. I was frustrated. I didn't enjoy my pit beef dip, but it was better after they brought it back properly heated. It was a lot smaller of a sandwich than I expected for the price, though. The manager came over and apologized to us, and made sure we were left satisfied, however we were still soured on how long it took. We were offered a free dessert, which we didn't really want, but I picked the red velvet cake and took home with us anyway. It wasn't very good, as the cake was dried out, and it didn't taste like red velvet cake, and had regular butter cream icing instead of cream cheese icing like I was expecting. I didn't catch our server's name when he said it (noisy room due to the concert), but he was fantastic, very apologetic, and checked up on us often. If I come back to this place, I hope he's our server next time. He was really the only saving grace of the dining portion of the day at the restaurant, and the only reason I'd give this place 2 stars on my initial visit here. read more

I'm very disappointed with the manager last night. (Sunday, 3/19/23). I always enjoy going to the Barrel House for the Sunday night dances. I always get dinner, even though the food is sub par. I like to patronize small business, and by purchasing dinner, I feel as though it is a thank you to the business for holding those evening dances. As usual, I ordered a salad and rockfish bites. This time I ordered a small dinner salad ($7), where in the past, I've ordered the Cobb Salad ($16). The Cobb salad is a very large salad, with bacon, eggs, corn , avocado, bleu cheese, and lots of vegetables. It is well worth the price. The dinner salad arrived along with the yummy rockfish bites. The salad was a nice spring mix, with tomatoes, cucumber, and croutons. It was perfect, except when I received the bill, I was charged $12. When I inquired with the server, Christina, she told me that I should have ordered a "side" salad. That is what is served with a dinner, not a dinner salad. How confusing is that? She also told me it was too late to change the charge, because I ate the salad! How was I to know, before I ate, that a dinner salad was different than a side salad, and I would be charged $12 instead of $7. Maybe this is petty to some, but I was disgusted. I asked for the manager. A nice young man came to the table. He asked me to step into another room to speak to him. I did, and he told me the same thing. I asked for the charge to be be changed, and he refused. So, for $5, he lost a food customer, and he did his server a huge disservice, as her tip was minimal. I'm sure she was doing as she was instructed to do. On a $20 food bill, her tip would have been a minimum of $10. She did an excellent job, and we were there longer than just for dinner. I am only one party at a table with multiple checks. I am normally a very good tipper. I worked in the food service industry for years, and believe in tipping very well for a job well done. She should have taken care of that without telling me, she could do nothing because I "ate my salad"! She was young and inexperienced, but did an excellent job other wise. I will continue to go to the dances. I will continue to get a beverage while there, but I will never order dinner there again. I'll eat across the street, where I can get a steak dinner for the same $26. That will eliminate any possibility of being charged $12 for a dinner salad. Take care of your customers. The manager/owner on duty last night was incredibly rude and unprofessional for no reason at all. Any time that The Reagan Years play here, my family and I are here. In the past, we reserved a table and had one in front of the band (not that it needs to be). When I heard that the band was playing here again, I went on and reserved a table just like I had in the past. Just like Fallston Barrel House had instructed in the past. I didn't know tickets were even being sold for the night when I reserved the table. Upon arriving last night the person checking people in and taking tickets was very friendly and said she would get a manager (I didn't ask) because she wasn't sure what to do with the reservation. Immediately when he came out he was rude before I even spoke. What bothered me the most was the condescending tone and calling me a liar. I said that in the past, I had reserved a table and had one in the area the band was playing. He told me that it was impossible because "reservations are only for the dining room, never in the band area so I know that's not true. Plus, we've always sold tickets for The Reagan Years." I calmly tried to respond and say that I never bought tickets before and he abruptly/rudely said, "I don't have time for this." I never got rude back. That tone was unnecessary and uncalled for. It's too bad me saying I'll never return won't make a difference to this establishment because it doesn't appear that they're hurting for business. But if he continues to run his business in such a way, I imagine it'll catch up one day. Attaching a picture showing that just a table reservation was needed before and that the band said this was their first ticketed event. Came to this restaurant yesterday with my friends! It had been a long time since we had been out together and we just wanted a chill early dinner where we could just chat and enjoy a delicious meal. My friend and I arrived and definitely walked in the wrong entrance LOL. We walked into a rock show, which was epic (sounded awesome) and epically loud. I was about ready to tell my friend she's never to choose the restaurant again, until we realized that dinner doesn't come with a 10.00 cover charge and we went in the wrong way! One of the staff escorted us through the building to the restaurant area. We had a good laugh at that. The seating area was not super packed when we arrived and our reservation was honored right away, with no wait. We were sat and quickly greeted by our waiter Bryan. Talk about enthusiasm! You couldn't wipe the smile off his face unless you tried. He was very nice and good to recommend food items. I got the rockfish appetizer, which was DE-Li-CIOUS! It just about melted in my mouth and my friends enjoyed it too. The sauce it came with was really nice and the size was perfect. Not too much, not too little. My filet mignon was good. It was cooked perfectly well-done, like I asked. I could have done with a little more sauce on the side, but the flavor was really good and it was complemented well by the mashed potato and the broccoli. The mashed potato didn't have too much flavor, while the broccoli was pretty salty. On their own, there wouldn't be much to say (perhaps nothing good to say even), but all together, it was really a perfect balance. My pineapple margarita was also really good! Not too strong and didn't get me too buzzed while eating my food. My friends really enjoyed their meals too - the Fallston Chicken was highly recommended by Bryan and didn't disappoint, my other friend enjoyed her meatloaf, and my other friend enjoyed her turkey BLT. The desserts from Woodlea bakery also were just awesome! I don't remember the name of mine, but it was a cake with some berry stuff in it - doesn't matter, it was delicious and I didn't want to offer any to the gang when I returned home hehe. My wife and couple we were with all got burgers which were delicious. I on the other hand ordered Osso Buco which was more like a pork Buffalo wing that was very dry. This is a mixed review. My wife enjoyed her crab cake platter and sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli. Unfortunately my experience was far different. I started my meal with a crock of French onion soup and it was a major disappointment! First the onions were so undercooked that they were crunchy, the broth was like dishwasher lacking any flavor. Only the cheese was acceptable. Normally I love French onion soup and wish I could lick the bowl but this was so lousy I left more than half of it. My main course was some concoction of shrimp, sausage with cheese grits in a cajun gravy which wasn't any better. The grits were overcooked and had no cheese taste, the cajun gravy I don't even know how to describe other than to say it was nasty, the shrimp were acceptable but sparse and the sausage consisted of 5 pieces approximately the size of an almond. All in all it was a horrible meal! The waiting staff was pleasant and attentive so no complaints about that. In summation based on my dinner there isn't a chance in Hell of me ever setting foot in this establishment again. If my wife wants their crab cakes she will be dinning alone. This little dinner set us back $97 + tip and at least for me ruined our 25th. Anniversary dinner out! read more
